[Q] Access ADB when device is powered off. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good afternoon/morning XDA members. I would like to know if it is possible to access the adb when your phone is powered off and it is connected to the computer. I would like to know if there is anything that you can add to the default.prop of the boot.img so that when the phone is connected it will show up when you run adb devices. I ask because this is possible on a device I have, Blu Dash Jr. I can pull the battery and place it back into the phone and when I connect it to the computer it shows up under adb devices. My phone is the Alcatel Pop C2 btw. Thanks for taking the time to read and hope you can help.

[Q] Cannot access Rockchip 2918 based Tablet via USB

I have a noname chinese made Rockchip 2918 based tablet PC that I am trying to root so I can use some tools to increase performance/etc.
I have ADB and the Android SDK installed.
I have the most recent Rockchip drivers installed.
I have Development Mode turned on on the tablet.
When I plug the device into USB, nothing happens other then the windows notification sound to let me know something was plugged in. No "searching for drivers" nothing. When I go to ADB and do a "ADB Shell" command, it says device not found.
If I boot the tablet into Recovery mode, connect USB, and repeat the above procedure, I get the same result.
Is there a seperate USB Recovery mode I need to get into? I read about this on other RK2918 based tablets and I have tried all the methods to no avail. Volume up and Power is the only combination that does something, and that just takes me into normal recovery mode.
Just a side note, If I connect my HTC Evo 4G LTE and try the shell command, it finds it instantly.
Any ideas on what I am missing here?

Go to my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2362844 use this tool to root the device then use adb wifi. Is the only method to have adb on those rockchip devices without disassambling them. Do not worry the CWM is for all RK2918 devices.

[Q] Program That Requires Debugging

I have a program thats called SHAREKM and when i plug my phone into the computer, it recognized the phone is there but it doesnt give the authorization for debugging on the phone. I was told that with 4.3 you have to authorize every computer thats plugged in........I noticed this when I tried to use REVONE......I had to use a ADB version higher than 1.0.29 or something like that in order for it to show the authorize computer on my phone. Anyone have any ideas how I can get this to work? Thanks much!!
Alright I got it to work, I just had to download the 1.0.31 ADB zip and then ADB to my phone from my computer, accept the authorization and it worked!!

Bricked? HDX 7

Picked up a new HDX 7. Powered it on for the first time today and run into a white, what looks like diagnostic, screen. I tried a reboot and it just comes back to this screen it never actually boots into the os. Has anyone ever seen this before? Any recommendations?
Very interesting!
Is the device detected by your computer?
Yes i believe it is. It did install drivers when i connected it but I couldn't tell you what off hand. I'm away from my pc at the moment but I'd be happy to post whatever.
Thanks again
Please tell us as what it presents itself to the pc.
looks like it has some kind of factory debug firmware installed. some devs may be very interested in this indeed.
If you manage to boot into Android please don't let it upgrade before we can get our hands on the (hopefully) juicy debug build.
I tried everything i could think of to get it to boot normally. I even booted with power and the + button and did a factory reset and it still boots to the same white screen. I received a replacement from Amazon and was planning on shipping this one back today. I have a few more days before i have to ship it back though. I'll plug it back into a pc and see what it shows up as.
Alright. At the white screen when I connect to the PC I get two devices.
USB Composite Device
Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device
If i boot with the - held down I get to fastboot. If i connect it to the PC I get a Ready message on the screen and two devices show up.
android USB Composite Device
Unknown device USB\VID_1949&PID_000C&REV_0100&MI_00
Thanks,

Is the device properly detected/can you actually run commands in fastboot?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799793
I was just looking at that page. I tried to run fastboot -i 0x1949 devices and got nothing, but from my brief browsing of that thread it sounds like i may need to try it in linux, my other concern is it sounds like i need a special usb cable to make this work in fastboot?
shorts
Maybe we should collect some money and buy you a new one, that you can give that device to some advanced developer here. Is that some option for you shorts? And would there be dev here who is interested in doing the job?
Did you get another networking device from the NDIS connection? Maybe there are services listening on the device so you should try scanning for open ports.

[Q] Backup Phone, Enable USB Debug on Samsung Galaxy S3 that has a broken screen

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help with my poorly phone?
My phone broke a couple of days ago and the screen is black and digitizer has broken therefore I’m unable to use it. I don’t think there is any point trying to get the screen fixed but it will cost as much as a new phone would. But what I would like to do is backup the data on my phone.
I have not got USB Debugging enabled and when I connect my phone to the PC, the drivers are installed and I see my phone as a portable media device but there are no files or drives to display the phones data through windows explorer! Please help!?
After some research on the internet I have downloaded [email protected] and ADB.exe but the phone is not recognised (I believe this is because USB Debugging is not enabled).
I then did some further investigation and managed to book my phone under fastboot in recovery mode and selected ADB mode, this connects to my PC and new driver is installed but I am now not sure how I can use this mode to backup my device? And enable USB debugging so I can use my phone on [email protected]
Anyone able to help?
Thanks
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Good luck

Help with rooting through wifi adb

So I wanted to root my MXQ 4K tv box, however for some reason the only way to connect it directly to a pc is with a male to male usb cable that I don't have.
I managed to connect through wifi adb, making the device show in it, however when i try the "adb reboot bootloader" command the device disconnects from wi-fi and I can't access it anymore!
So, thats my question, is there a way to root/install custom recovery WITHOUT an usb cable, and only through internet adb?
