Trouble with ViperAudio and Poweramp - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I'm running Twisted v7 and I'm trying to get viper to work with poweramp on my phone. I've tried other players, including stock, and they all process through viper, but poweramp just will not process. I've been in the settings of poweramp and I have musicFX enabled, as well as awesome player disabled in dev settings. I'm at a loss trying to get this to work. Anyone have any luck? I've searched the viper forums, but I couldn't find a solution. If there is one out there, point me in the right direction please
Thanks!

Whats the best rom for sound? I had Titan and nothing sounds the same...

I had a rom called Titan v2 and it sounded unbelievable. I guess it died out because I havent been able to find a new version.
For all my music lovers what is the best sounding stable rom out there? I miss the way titan used to bump in my car.

I was using ogminilla's but it wouldnt let me answer calls... The only bug with that rom. Maybe try out solid senless Rom.
For the DSP manager:
DO NOT enable bass enhancer or it will distort the music through your stereo. You could try it, but it usually only works on headphones.
Then for the equalizer setting:
Set the first column to 8, the second column to 8 1/2, the 3rd column to 3, the 4th at 0, the 5th at 1 1/2, and the 6th at 3.
Be sure to enable loudness compensation to strongest.
Leave the other settings unchecked
Hope this helps!

Tried the viper rom but no 4g! is there a sense 3.6 version?
Or does anyone still have the last titan hd odexed v2 rom? Can't believe I erased it, figured its so old it would be obsolete. Had great sound and great camera and stable. Any old titan users out there?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Cool ICS for CDMA & GSM. The current version has full working beats, including the notifications and system settings, and the Sony xloud mod all baked in. I have the same mods with MeanROM ICS 2.6 using this installation procedure and the sound is great.

It looks like this thread has a working download, but I'm not sure why you would want a GB ROM based on the 2.08 build when the Cool ICS ROM has been updated to the latest Sprint ICS build and has very good audio and camera. Up to you.

It just sounded so good, right out of the box. I would just pull up anywhere, put on pandora, and have an instant block party.
I installed cool rom and it sounds very loud but just not as good/full. I havent been able to find any settings to tweak, i guess i have to download the dsp manager.
As for the link above, the only thing on that ftp is something called olympus trinity gamer. Not sure what this is and can't find any info on it. Might try flashing it just to see how it sounds right off the bat.

Some people have commented that the audio from the ICS ROM's even with all the mods installed is not as good as it was on the GB ROM's.
I flashed the Titan ROM out of curiosity and it seems to have the sound mods you are looking for, but is mostly stock except for the games. Apparently the dev was kicked off of XDA for some drama he created, and if you check the comments from the installation script you will see his comment on XDA.
The original thread for the ROM is still on XDA, but the download link is broken.

Yes I just flashed that gamer one and it sounds fantastic. I flashed right after the cool ics and there is no comparison. Maybe its because im testing on pandora (I have the premium version which has better sound) and not the music player, maybe because its not ics idk.
I read about the drama and people saying he wasnt a developer but more of a 'remixer'. Whatever he was he made that **** sound sick so you gota give him credit for that at least.
Maybe other developers can adopt what he did for sound cuz i do like other features of ics. But like you said maybe its just that gb sounds better than ics and its just that simple. dunno, Im gona stick with this one for now because im really into music.

The beats mods aren't going to help Pandora at all. You need to use DSP Manager, MusicFX, Volume+ or something similar with that app, and people have had mixed results with those equalizers on ICS. If the Titan ROM has DSP Manager built-in that's probably making the difference for Pandora.
I'm glad you found what you were looking for and are happy with it, even if it is GB.

Ive been messing with this on cool ics and it doesnt sound bad at all. Where I messed up was not going to settings - beats audio - and enabling those.
I still think its not quite as good as the titan roms but its pretty damn close!

AudioFX is another equalizer similar to DSP Manager and Volume+. It works pretty well with Google Play Music but I haven't tried it with Pandora.
You should be able to uninstall the games you don't want with Titanium Backup, even if they are installed as systems apps.

[Q] Google Music app - Equalizer presets gone after rooting

Hello,
I rooted my Nexus 7(Wifi only), v4.2.1, with the Nexus 7 Toolkit v4.0.0.
Since then the Equalizer presets from google's music app is gone
and I cannot adjust the bass boost or 3D effect. Does anyone know
what I can do to fix this?
Appreciate any help, Thanks!
Update: I just restored back to stock and that solved the problem. May try to root again in future.
Maybe during the root process something went wrong.

I don't know. The only other thing I can think of that I did was install the Beats audio driver.
Maybe that was the culprit. Haven't tried rooting again yet. I'll update as soon as I do.
7:20 PM)Update: I re-rooted the Nexus 7 and all is well. The Equalizer works and has all the presets.
So the problem must have been caused by the Beats Audio Installer.

Sound boost hack

Sound boost for all US Note 3 variants. You must have a snapdragon cpu. Will not work on octacores. This is the highest volume boost that is still considered safe. You should not experience any clipping or washed out sound.
Installation:
×Flash via gordon flasher here is the app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250555
-OR-
×Unzip this package and copy the file into your system/etc/snd_soc_msm folder which overwrites the stock file. Reboot after file copy.

Can you tell any significant difference in the max volume when using sound "mods" like this?
What kind of difference can you see in the following scenarios:
1.) Stock Sound --> THIS Mod instead?
How about those of you that have been running Viper?
2.) Stock Sound --> Viper Mod ??
3.) Viper Mod --> THIS Mod instead ?

I'm using viper from the playstore and it works great for my music. I work in a factory and plug my 3.5mm head jack into a kicker stereo. The phone speaker it's self seems loud enough for me. No to knock this sound mod at all but I favor the eq in viper. Just my opinion. The only downside of viper is I have to greenify it when I'm done using it.

From what I've noticed about Viper is that it doesn't work with every music app.
It doesn't work with the Samsung music player.
It will work with the Google Play Music app with wav (flac encoded) files, but not MP3s.
It will work with Power Amp will all files, but the Power Amp trial app I downloaded can't see my wav/flac files for playback.

I have only been using it for a few days but my understanding is that replaces the stock DSP manager once you install the driver and select it in Settings > Music Effects, so the sound effect *should* be global and affect all music sources. I do not use the Samsung music app, and I do not store MP3s locally. I had some, but many of them must be inferior rips because they sounded flat or distorted no matter what EQ settings I used. I finally decided to try Google All Access, and I am glad I did. Using the highest quality stream and ViPER4Android, it sounds 100x better than my ipod.

The easiest way to know if Viper is working, is that when you are playing music, to go into the Viper app and uncheck the enable box at the top. If you hear the music volume/sound change, then you know it was working, and you can re-check the box.
I know that it doesn't work at all with the Samsung Music app.
On the Google Play Music, it does work with WAV( (FLAC encoded) files, but not MP3s. I don't have the "Google All Access" subscription, so I can't verify if Viper works with it.
Since my MP3s weren't sounding too good while using Viper, I got all my CDs and did them as WAV (FLAC), and copied it over the microSD card (but took about 21GB of space). But it does sound much better than the MP3 rips I did of these CDs many years ago.

I tried that while streaming Google Music, and it definitely makes a difference. I have no MP3s or FLACs to test with the Samsung Music app, so I have no idea if V4A effects will translate through that app.
Since using V4A and Google Music Service, I have heard new musical details (instruments as well as front/rear speaker isolation) on songs that I thought I knew very well. This is most likely due to the poor quality of my MP3s, rather than V4A or the quality of Google Music, but it was a nice surprise regardless. If you have not tried Google Music Service then I highly recommend it, especially if you are surrounded with solid 4G or WiFi. The first month is free. It's not on the same level as FLAC, but it will probably be a step up from MP3.

I downloaded the FX 2.3.1.1 version from the xda thread instead of the unofficial market link because (1) the market link is in Chinese, and (2) I wanted to make sure I got the latest release. Install it like any other apk, go to Settings > Sound > Music effects and select ViPER4Android. You will be prompted to install a special driver, so do that. Reboot, then open "ViPER4Android" in the app drawer, and tweak to your liking. Then play some tunes and adjust EQ and other options as needed. The effects are much more pronounced via the audio jack rather than the speakerphone.

I'm using 2.3.0.1 and it "automatically" installed the driver, as the one from the Play Store had a list of drivers, and I wasn't sure which one to use.
Does the 2.3.1.1 also automatically install the driver?
Edit: Updated to 2.3.1.1 without problem.

What sound equalizer app do you use ?

As is commonly known, at lower volumes the sound on the G pad is pretty dark and murky.
This can be improved easily by using an equalizer app and turning down the bass/lower frequencies, and turning up the higher frequencies.
I've tried a few different apps, some work, some don't.
Currently I'm using the "Music equalizer" app, which is allright but turns itself off after 30 minutes, so I'm looking for something better.
What apps have you found that work well with MX player?
(I know sound improves in other ROM's but I want to stay rooted stock, so custom ROM's are not an option right now)
Same here.
Today I installed DSP manager (from cyanogenmod).
Nice and exactly what I want, except that it doesn't work at all.

I use PowerAmp music player. It has a great DSP but I don't know if it works system-wide and I haven't really tried to find out because I haven't really though about it.
Upgrade to CM11, it will change your tab, especially concerning the sound..
Poweramp seems to be a music player rater than a generic equalizer.
About CM, have I mentioned in my start post that I want to stay stock, or did I forget to say that?

Greetings..
I know you want to stay stock but...
I was just reading this thread and I have CM-11 installed and I thought.. why not turn on Netflix and the DSP (which I was not using) and see if the DSP Mgr. does make a difference..
It Does.. A Big Difference if you adjust the EQ manually.. So at least you know you have an option should your situation become unbearable.
I know there is that option so I have considered that. Not having Qremote is not an option at this moment, so I'm not going there.
As for equalizers, I've found another one that works, but it also turns off after 30 minutes.
I have the impression that this is not so much a funcionalty, but a limitation within android.
Does anyone know if all equalizer apps will turn off after 30 minutes?
Does any app exist that I can use that doesn't turn itself off?

If you are rooted you could try AlsaMixer. It's kinda a carry over from Linux. Bear in mind that it had a major overhaul some time ago. It has so many settings for each connectin you won't believe it. Unfortunately I have no idea how to use it after the overhaul as everything is classified pretty cryptic, but I believe I saw something about 5 different EQ bands. AlsaMixer is system wide btw. The EQ is just one of many variables you can set. However finding a tutorial is imminent, if you ask me. Good luck.

I'm not certain of what I'm saying right now. But since MX Player is capable of using both software and hardware for both sound and video I suspect it may use it's own settings.. I don't know. I'm basing it on ZPlayer in the Market which I used for a long time, that one had it's own EQ and such and the dev said that the users shouldn't be using any 3rd party EQ's because it wouldn't have any effect.. May be some of the same stuff going on with MX Player since it offers all these different decoders.. Sorry, I'm not going back to stock to test this. Anything CM/AOSP related, I'll gladly check out for you. :/
I'm just wondering; DSP manager does not seem to have any effect on the sound of any apps here.
As for MX player (which is the only app I really care about for an equalizer to work with),
some equalizer apps work with it and some don't.
The few that I found that work all quit after 30 minutes, probably that's a limitation in android?
I'm starting to think harder about Mahdi rom, it sure looks nice but I just can't part yet from Qremote.

Rooted users can use viper. It is the best system wide system modulator out there. It can be found almost anywhere on these forums. If you need a link, pm me and i'll send you one.

I never understood the "pm me and I'll send you the link" attitude.
Anyway .. I agree with Charlie: it is a very good sound enhancer utility.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
Viper4androidFX works,
it works with MX player and it keeps working after 30 minutes.
I believed for a moment that this was the solution for optimizing the sound on the G pad,
however viper seems to have an unwanted effect on videoprocessing;
while streaming HD content over MX player there is a slight stutter in the video that immediately disappears when I turn viper off.
That makes useless for me really.
I am thinking about saying goodbye to the Qremote app and flashing Mahdi.

The reason is that I prefer privacy on these boards. That's all

Best equalizer app? v.Google Play

Can anyone please recommend the best equalizer app? Before anyone recommends PowerAmp, I love and have it but I need an equalizer for Google Play Music. BoomSound is good but lacks in bass.
Try the Viper Sound mod. I'm using it with Viper rom and it sounds great. Lots of advanced tweaks.

I failed to mention - I've used and love Viper4Android but I'm trying not to root until at least my HTC Advantage runs out
Google Play Music has a built in equalizer if you didn't find it by now. Check the settings.

I don't see it in Google Play Music Settings either where it used to be on my Samsung GSIII
I use Music Volume EQ. Pretty good and I think it might be what you're looking for. I don't use it too much anymore since I moved over to PowerAmp.
I'm using Equalizer by Smart Android Apps, LLC.
But now I've flashed CM12 and I was wondering if AudioFx is better and/or more compatible with the OS.
Does anybody know?
