For one, if you wanted to spend over $100 you could get a new glass screen and get it installed somehow. As far as getting protection then, I fully recommend it. Gorilla glass is NOT AT ALL as good as they say it is. My phone doesn't come into contact with razor blades and other crap it says it stands up against, but it does come in contact with minor pieces of lint in my pocket which somehow scratched this "impervious" screen...
As far as what type of protector...I didn't like Zagg or Ghost Armor or any of those stupid things. More expensive, more hassle than they're worth. I got I think a Splash Masque screen protector off Amazon or something. Something like that should do the trick. Not too hard to install w/o bubbles and I can't really tell it's there (feels normal, fits just fine).
zagg scratch guards are pathetic to use.
all rubbery feel with no smoothness unless you lube it
overpriced stuff that you cant through off because you overspent kind of feeling ..
get cheap clear screen protectors.. cost $2-5 over ebay for pack of 10 or something
I agree with the other two. Don't get a Zagg. I am currently using one and regret it. When I slide my finger to scroll or to play games, sad enough sometimes my fingers don't slide as smooth as opposed to some other screen protectors. Although I would say that it has saved my screen a couple of times. If your willing to spend the money on a Zagg and idk what your budget is like you could try out the otter box Commuter. Its isn't that bulky in my opinion and has a pretty good screen protector on it, with the bonus of protecting the phone itself.

I used a bodyguardz but didn't really like the feel of it and the proximity sensor wouldn't work right. Order some other cheap one off Amazon which feels a lot better but the proximity sensor still doesn't work right with it.
I can deal with the proximity sensor issue more than I could put up with a scratch in on my screen. Not sure if the zaggs interfere with the proximity sensor or not.

I use Zagg full body coverage, and I'm very happy with it. Yes, it feels rubbery.
But I'm looking the Splash Masque stuff, it's good to know a second opinion
I picked one up on Amazon called
Motorola Atrix 4G Crystal Clear Premium Screen Protector 2 Pack by REALOOK (AT&T)
I can't link since I'm a noobie poster. It's slightly spendy at 10.99 but has been great for me so far. Easy to put on with no bubbles, doesn't effect the usability of the screen either. By far the best screen protector I've used when compared to a few I've had on my iPhones.

Don't go the Zagg route.
First the invisible shields are a true PITA to install! (trust me it's a lot harder than a normal screen protector)
Second even if you get it installed correctly it feels rubbery weird.
Just go with the clear screen protector cheapies on eBay, and either a leather holster or a TPU clear case (depending if you pocket or not) and you'll be fine...
Im a huge fan of ghost armor. I like the look and feel of it. Yeah it sucks do pay $20 for the initial screen and service, but its $5 bucks after to replace it forever.

I went with Zagg myself, went in to the local store had them install it for 10 bucks. Just got it replaced, it does have a sort of grip to it on the screen that you have to get use to. Overall all I'm happy with the protection it's given my phone, usually after a couple months I'll start seeing scratches and stuff, I'm a little disappointed that I had to take it in to get the shield replaced today, but it was free save for the installation free so I'd say it was definitely a good investment for my device.
I'm looking at screen protectors right now. I decided to get the Otter Commuter case. Reviews say the included screen protector is terrible. So I'm getting a second one. I've look at a few. Moshin, Skinomi and invisibleSHIELD so far. I'm only getting a screen protector, not a whole-body cover.
I've heard some good reviews about invisibleSHIELD, but many say it gets dirty fairly quick. (Around the edges). Anyone have any first-hand experience? Any other recommendations?
Yes, I used it, and I hate it. With InvisibleShield, the screen doesn't feel as smooth as other screen protectors that I've used (PowerSupport USA, Belkin, Griffin, etc.) It seems to have a sticky feel to it when you're using the screen with IS.
I got a moshin for free from the atnt rep. Prob the easiest and cleanest protector I ever put on. It's antiglare, but has a nice finish.
Ill order two. I'll need to replace one eventually. Thanks.

the Moshi, at least the one I got at ATT, says you can peel it off, wash it and then reattach it to the phone. It even recommends cleaning it by taking it off the phone. I can't wait to see how that really goes...
Between my wife and myself, we've had InvisibleShields on iPhone, Cappy and HTC Aria. Both of us are happy with them. I will agree with a previous poster that they can get a slightly "sticky" feel to them, but I find they are much better, in terms of long term wear and consistency, than either the static or dry adhesive types. They clean up very nicely with LCD screen cleaner and a lint-free cloth.
As of early last week, Zagg didn't have IS available specifically for the ATT version of the SGS2, so I took the advice of a poster on another thread and bought a pair of Int'l SGS2 protectors from ArmorSuit for about 10% the price of the Zagg product (the paraphrased advice was "for wet-applied screen protectors, they are all the same, buy the cheapest one"). To this point they appear extremely similar to the IS, so I may stick with them.
Hope that helps...
I used invisible shield and body gaurdz, out of those 2 I like the body gaurdz the most.

All those "military grade" screen protector feels the same... lol
I've used it on my old iPhones. They are pretty useless, you lose the screen quality and the touch and feel of it.
They don't protect the screen at all, their warranties only cover the plastic not the screen so it's pointless. Only use for the covers is on the back of a phone since they get a lot of surface damage.
I would just get any type of cover and not waste 20+ on name brand military grade protectors.
i used a few different ones on the captivate. but i loved the Invishield one the most. i liked the more rubber texture and it is insanely tough. The same one has been on the phone for 2 years so far and it still looks great.
I hate them. They are crappy and they seem to lower the quality of the image of the screen. I can't stand the feel of them. The best one I've used so far were Realooks. I used that on my Captivate and my wifes HTC. After putting it on, the image quality stays the same and it doesn't look or feel like there is a protector on there. I don't plan on using one for this phone.
Just to add a little bit - no matter what you put over your screen, you are going to impact your image quality some - whether or not it is noticeable to you is a matter of several factors:
a) quality of the screen protector
b) how well it was installed
c) how much damage/scratching/smudging is on the protector
d) how attuned the user is to image quality
Personally, I find wet mount protectors much easier to install in a high quality manner and get less bubbles/loss of clarity compared to dry mount protectors.
This military shield thing I got cheap installed very nicely, and after a day of it being on and the microbubbles working out, I personally notice minimal impact on image quality.
I work at asphalt plants (a very dusty and dirty environment with numerous hazards to phones) so I am uncomfortable with not protecting my screens. I would rather have something damage a $20 (or $2 in my current case) plastic screen protector that is easily replaceable than damage the glass of my $550 device. In fact, I once had the Aria in my pocket when an asphalt sample container I was carrying broke open, spilling 330 degree hot mix asphalt all over my side and into the pocket with the phone. After digging the asphalt out of my pocket along with the phone (yeah, it was toasty and I was in a hurry ) I picked all the rocks and sand off the phone (which was also in a silicone sleeve type case) and cleaned it up with a little of the solvent we use. No permanent damage. I'll stick to screen protectors....
I decided to order the skinomi protectors. I'll see how they are. It is a wet application, so I hope everything goes well.

That is incorrect. Go get a zagg invisibleshield, and then put it on. they go on easy, and in return they degrade easier.
If you live near a mall with a Ghost Armor installation location, GO THERE. Their(as well as zaggs) prices are are steeper than your average 3pack for $12, but they install it for you.
I used invisibleshield/body guardz for 2 years before these guys put them out of business in my local mall. Their material is the same, EXCEPT it is thinner and MUCH MUCH MUCH more natural feeling. It does not feel grippy, and it is still extremely protective. The only thing is that your screen will look like crap for about a day. after that day, it should clear up and you'll hardly even notice the orange peel effect that zagg's have so much of.
I will recommend these guys for my screen protection any day.

In my experience very overpriced, and it gives the orange peel effect.
I guess they do actually work if you dont mind compromising screen clarity/image quality.

I have used iShield before on my iPhone; but prefer the hard screen shields as they are less "sticky" for swiping with the fingers like the one that came with the TPU case for my SGS2. I find that the soft ones with the solution spray is more sticky for some reason maybe for grip as some do wrap the whole phone with iShield.
the note is pretty without it, then when I put it on it's okay still but you know what i'm talking about, but do I really need it cause i have that double layer case for it

I agree. Just make one pocket phone only. No keys or nothing

Does the Note needs a screen protector (SP)? Personally I would say hell yeah but to each their own. At least with a screen protector, you get a scratch, you can always replace with a new protector. W/O a SP, you risk your device in getting scrathed up. Plus, with today's SP, you will likely not notice the difference. Always err on the safe side & better to be protected than not to be. Plus, resale value is higher if your phone isn't all scratched up. That extra $15-$20 for a SP goes a long ways.
I do it because I rather spend the $15 for piece of mine and extra perfection. Looks just as good, super thin, and I'm superficial about my phone

I'd say yes. I managed to scratch this "scratch resistant " Gorilla Glass very easily. Since then, I tried a few different things to remove the scratch. Guess what? It did not remove. The ONLY way I was able to remove it was to get a new phone. Since then, a SP has been on as getting new phones isn't as easy now that I'm past my 30 days.

your choice. some people like em, some don't.
I haven't had one on any of my gorilla glass screen phones for the last 3 years and never will.
I purchased the Spigen SGP Glas t. Premium Tempered Glass Series Screen Protector for my Note earlier this week. After applying it and playing with it for two days, I am convinced it is one of the best accessories ever for a phone. Insulation for a screen without degradation in quality. I love it. I hate to admit it, but I actually purchased one of the horribly overpriced Moshi screen protectors at the ATT store, and, even though I have applied hundreds of screen protectors on my phones over the years, this one is the absolute best one I have ever used; its super easy to apply perfectly, with a sort of "template" sheet that the protector gets shipped on, and there are almost no smudges, no screen darkening, and it fits perfectly!
Do you "need" a screen protector? No, the phone works fine without it..
should you put one on? to me, its the first thing I put on the phone before I even take the factory plastic off the phone..
And, down the road, when you go to sell your phone, or trade it in, you will get maximum return if you keep the thing looking like brand new..
I haven't had a protector on my note yet. I was thinking of maybe getting the steinheil protector because of all the issues people are having with the glass one.
So far the gorilla glass has held up just fine for me. No marks at all, I still don't even have a case on this thing
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
if I wasn't such a klutz, I would keep it case free too..
another solution is Wrapsol; which I have had on a few phones, with leaves it pretty naked, but puts a clear shield on any area that you want protected..
Would you rather have a SP and not need it or need a SP when you don't have it (like when you accidentally drop that bad boy)?

I use one of the Steinheil for two reasons, and scratches isn't one of them.
1. Anti-glare. The proper Steinheil protector is great for this.
2. Smudges/fingerprints. I find that the Steinheil doesn't attract the oils from your hands nearly as much as native Gorilla Glass.
The texture is the only thing I'd really worry about - it feels weird to some. I usually stop noticing it after 2-3 days.
On my past 3 Android phones, I haven't ever used Screen Protectors. I hate the feel and look of most of them (I know there are certain that are glass, or feel pretty much fine, but many never feel like awesome smooth glass, almost a texture sometimes), and I sometimes feel cases end up pushing up the edges, making it look like **** and needing to be replaced. Or it gets tweaked sliding it in and out of my pocket.
For good measure, WM HTC Touch Pro ended up with zero scratches on screen, lived in a case at first, then without because it was such a brick. It had a SP at first, but eventually it peeled and I said **** it. Phone felt better without (Resistive Screen with stylus). It died when I gave it to my GF for a loaner, and she dropped it and left it in a river for awhile...on the first day she had it. (my phones are in constant peril!)
The HTC Aria ended up with zero scratches and still in mint cond when I moved on to an HTC Inspire 4G. Had been dropped onto Concrete, wood, etc from at least 4 feet on occasion. Protected by HTC TPU smoked case from ATT store for entire life.
HTC Inspire 4G ended up with one very slight vertical scratch toward the far right side of the screen. I only noticed it when the screen was off, never noticed it with my finger sliding onto it, or in general use. It had a rough life, and I was happy/surprised that was the only damage it ever received. Standard drops from about 4 feet onto assorted surfaces like concrete, hardwood floors, etc. Protected by Case-Mate Tough Case from ATT store for entire life.
My GNote is still without a scratch. Has only really been dropped on carpet, and a few small drops onto hardwood floors from about 3 feet. Protected by Speck Candyshell from ATT store, then Trident Aegis (kinda **** imo), and now Cruzerlite Androidified TPU (sucked at first, broken in and a few mods with the punch from a hole puncher, now perfect).
I keep all of my phones in my front right jeans pocket with the screen against my leg, and I never leave the ATT store without a case (even if I know I'll be getting a diff case very soon). I never put anything else in my phone pocket. Also be aware if your pants have very sharp/exposed rivets above your pocket. Clean out your pockets before you wear them. Turn them inside out if you can/use packing tape or something to make sure all the possible grit/**** is gone. It's entirely possible to get sand/dirt/whatever in there, and have it remain even after washing.
When I travel by motorcycle (85% of the time), my phone goes in a ziplock bag as well, and then I put it in my backpack, or occasionally front left breast pocket of my jacket. I think if you are aware of the fact that you are carrying a $600+ device in your pocket, you can easily avoid scratches. All of the cases I use have a sufficient lip to set the phone face down, but I RARELY ever set them face down (grit/sand/etc can be so small and so easily scratch)
TL;DR-I've had great luck without a Screen Protector and prefer to run without them. Many have had the opposite and much prefer a SP for extra peace of mind. Do what you are comfortable with.
Streak & Note
Had a dell streak for about 14 months. First 3-4 months had a screen protector on it, for nothing else because I had 3 win-mobile phones that the bottom area where the stylus is used, had scratches.
When the protector starting peeling off, I just chucked it. I used a soft belt case for well over a year w/o issues. Not one scratch.
When I got the Note in mid December, I didn't even bother with one. I use a Seidio ultimate case, and have had no issues, and, I use the s-pen daily.
Unless you are rough on your device, toss it around or carry it in your pocket with change & car keys, I wouldn't put one on it.
It's scratch RESISTANT, not scratch PROOF.
When I got my phone, I was going to get the $15 pack of Sprint screen protectors: the dry ones I've always used. Except... they were anti-glare and they don't have clear and I don't like the sparkles and reduced resolution of anti-glare or matte screen protectors. So the store talked me into the Zagg. I'm not a fan of the wet-apply screen protectors but thought I'd give it a shot for once. To each their own: some may love them, but I hate this Zagg screen protector and find it almost unusable! Orange peel out the wazoo (I can live with that since it doesn't reduce resolution) but the worst thing is that it's "sticky" like soft rubber. I can't even slide my finger (well) on this thing! Tried cleaning it and no amount of cleaning, washing hands, pressing lighter, etc. fixes it. Sliding my finger feels like I have dried sticky soda on my fingers.
So... being early in the game, has any one found a dry-apply clear screen protector they'd recommend, either from local stores (Best Buy, etc.) or online?
Edit: Maybe I should have posted this in accessories, but thought maybe someone had a solution to the sticky Zagg so I put it here.
Thanks,
Mike
Well i always used the cheapo SP, and i ordered four for $2 from Ebay the other day. Took like 2 days to get to my house. Only thing is, is that it dosen have the cut-out for the proximity sensor, but it functions just fine. Turns off when i make phone calls and everything. Some may not have luck with others that dont have the cutout, but this one works just fine. heres the link. If you want, i can send you one to try out. I have 3 left, and there no way ill use all these. WEnt on super easy and looks good. Lemme know. PM ME if u want. Be glad to mail ya one. Also, the one from Sprint SUCK. they dont even cover the whole phone. Just the screen itself. THey dont even go all the way doesn to the buttons. Unreal

I purchased from a luckeyminky on eBay. It is the type with two step application. First step exposes the sticky side. Smooth out the bubbles. Then remove step two layer. I reccomend cutting the top right cornner . It will get caught and eventually pull the protector off. Also if you get a piece of lint use one piece of scotch tape to life the screen protector another to grab the piece of dust. Did that last night with awesome results.

I’m happy to introduce you to one of the freshest screen protectors on the market, the Nano provided by DBA Cases. The same guys who sell the Just Like Glass screen protector. This new edition is a step above the rest and to this date is the best screen protector I have put my hands on. The Nano is a special beast of it’s own, its not your average screen protector and takes the Just Like Glass series to whole new level. The Nano is made of 3 layers of protection, two of the layers is sprayed on Nano glass and adheres to your device with a special coating. The Nano at the moment is available for the Note 3, Note 3, Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5/5s.
Installation Tips:
The installation went rather smooth for this Nano. In the past the JLG series has been a wet installation, but this time around they went with a dry install. The Nano is a denser screen protector and does not bend easily, which helps during an installation. The Note 3 because of it’s size makes it hard at times to install a screen protector if the screen protector is flimsy.
The basics of the installation goes as normal. My recommendations are to turn of the A/C, fans and anything that can contribute to dust flying around. Then make sure your hands are clean and layout the items with in the box to be fully prepared to install the screen protector. DBA included the Nano, bubble pick/card, VERY high quality microfiber cloth, and dust removal tape. Everything you need for a successful install.
Once ready stand directly over the phone and screen protector, remove the first layer and gently guide the Nano in place. Use your finger tips to adjust the placement, once you feel confident the alignment is perfect (take your time and be efficient) use your index finger to push down the center, let the protector do its thing and then work out any remaining bubbles. You can use the card provided, but I was able to work out the bubble with just my finger. Once all the bubbles are out, remove the second film and inspect the Nano for any leftover bubbles. That’s it.
First Impressions:
Words can hardly describe my first impression of the Nano. It is by far the BEST feeling screen protector I have ever put my hands on. It is so silky smooth and soft to the touch. The glass feels amazing! The responsiveness actually feels enhanced! Performance is top notch!
While I was in the process of the reviewing the Nano, I was debating how much of a test I want to put this things through. I watched DBA’s video of them smashing a hammer down on the glass and was like hmmmm I wonder what kind of testing I could put this through… I thought about a hammer test too, but I honestly don’t have the guts to do it so I came up with a few other tests.
Test Time:
I put this through a scratch test with keys and it passed with flying colors. The next test was with a dagger! This test put the Nano through some torment and actually left barely noticeable tiniest marks from the pretty much razor sharp tip. Good news it was not a deep cut, simply a slight graze of a scratch. Definitely something you would have to TRY to do. The next test was a sharpie test. I smeared the Nano with the black ink and it wiped off like it never happened. In the video I did the same thing with a normal screen protector and it barely erased the ink off of it. The last and final phase of torture (more like a dissection) was I snapped the Nano in half revealing it’s inner guts and glory. Not many, if any, screen protectors actually snap, so that’s an indicator this is not ordinary screen protector. I peeled away layers and you can definitely see the layers, glass and parts that make this thing so intricate and protective. Very impressive stuff.
If you have not noticed by now, DBA has won my techie heart over with this being the best screen protector I have ever used. I have used, installed and reviewed many many many screen protectors and there is none like it that I have used. Tempered glass screen protectors are cool, don’t get me wrong, but now that there is something like the Nano and protects the phone’s screen just as much or better, why would I want a thick piece of glass on my device? Not too mention the home button becomes hidden under the cutout. In my opinion this is a smart, wise investment to save your phones screen. A repair to an Android screen can cost well over $150 and this Nano only costs $30 on sale. You do the math.
You can’t go wrong with the Nano. There is not one single negative thing I can think of for this new product.

At least partly based on your video review, I went ahead last week and got the JLG Nano for my GN3. Went on nicely - no dust, bubbles, etc. Like you, I am extremely impressed with the surface of this thing. It definitely lives up to its name!
I monitored the huge thread about Tempered glass, starting even before I bought my GN3, and was tempted to go this route. But I was concerned about added thickness (the TPU holster/case I use is pretty tight to begin with).
This is probably coming off sounding like a commercial, but I have no connection, just a happy user. Should keep the display well protected, and basically duplicates the smooth glass surface it is protecting.

Cool!
I see what you mean about not wanting to sound like an ad. Neither do I. I give my honest opinion and mostly try to give my experience.

Sounds like an infomercial. But quick question. If it's the best feeling protector you've tried, what others have you previously used? Any specific differences besides thickness? I'm hoping an impartial party does a comparison.
Just too expensive. You are paying for the brand but serves the same purpose as the one that are being sold on ebay at 1/3 the cost.

Seidio Vitreo, Just Like Glass, Zagg, Extreme Guard to name a few.
Sorry if I try to give a quality opinion. Not trying to be a salesman or give a bias opinion.
I've become the go to tech guy in my family and with friends. Lol I've become the screen protector installer. I've just got lots of experience with accessories and such. I don't try to fluff stuff up. If I thought it sucked I would say so.

I have the nano installed and it is one of the best feeling protectors I have had. The only negative I have about it that it really attracts dust. Any protector or bare screen will get dusty. So when I say it really attracts dust I mean quite a bit and very often. I may go back to the regular just like glass protector.
