Launcher redraws. I already have lollipop memory fix xposed installed. - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hi guys,
Im on .242 android 5.0.2 stock rooted with xposed. I already have Lollipop Memory Leak Fix installed and it seems to help in making the phone not lag, but launchers still redraw often. I tried Nova and also Xperia home and both redraws a lot. I know that Nova has agreesive desktop mode but it doesn't help much. Sometimes it seems to keep it from killed but the home button still has long delay when the launcher wants to redraw.
Do you guys also have this issue? I thought memory leak fix would fix launcher redraw as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to disappoint you, but you can uninstall the fixer app because Sony has fixed the leak in their firmwares. Sony apps and services, as well as some Google ones are big RAM hoggers, you can disable some of them.

Thanks for reply! Are you sure Sony fixed it? I was having major lag issues and sometime random reboots. Right after reboot, it was fine, then after a few hours, the phone started lagging. After installing the fixer, it doesn't lag at all now, and it's pretty consistent. But the only thing is, the launcher keeps redrawing. Pretty often.

Yup, 100% sure, there is a thread in Cross-dev section where @IaguCool compared some smali files and it turned out that Sony has fixed it.

Apparently what sony did is just implemented that fix you just installed. So you doesn't have to Install it again, it's pointless...it doesn't fix the ram and redraw issues...it happen to every lollipop rom not just sony. I think the fix will be in 5.1....if your in 5.0, chances are you have to wait for the real fix...

So I don't understand. If its already fixed, why is my launchers keep redrawing?? Its driving me crazy ? if I reboot, no redraw for about 10 hours maybe, then redraw starts again, when exiting every few apps.
Could anyone please let me know how to stop launcher redraw?

Have you performed a hard reset before or after the lollipop update?
I followed the same advice after experiencing the same issues, I unlocked the bootloader so that it automatically did a hard reset deleting everything on internal memory, and it's been a new phone altogether.
Redraws sometimes happen with Chrome or apps that demand huge ram, but like 1/20th of the times.
No random reboots so far, it seems the right solution.
Just backup everything on the external memory and go back to factory settings.
You'll notice the difference right away.

ICS First Impressions

Looks great so far. The Home launcher is much more responsive so I can do away with ADW EX for now.
Kind of wish there were more small apps, but browser, calculator and IR remote are great choices for those and they work terrifically.
What do you guys think so far?

Uninstall from settings and go in as market... That fixed it for me...
The tablet was initially very laggy after the update but a reboot seemed to fix things, with the exception of the notification menu. It stutters very noticeably and is extremely annoying. Many apps also don't rotate properly anymore.
Still better than Honeycomb despiute those drawbacks.

DAMN YOU SONY!!!
Things i hate:
- this annoying wifi keepalive issue is still there!!! there is no way to keep wifi active during standby -.- damned why don't they let us users the choice... there IS an option to set the standby behavior but its still completely useless....
- sometimes there are widget issues (doesn't matter if 3rd party or preinstalled) that widgets change into editor mode when just pressing a button like update... changing screen ang going back will fix this temporarily... had this 2 times now...
- auto brigtness issue still not resolved... in low light the screen is MUCH too dark and when changing from full brightess to automatic it keeps full for a while and then goes down to min
- homescreen lag is still too much in portrait
- forced portrait is still not changable (damn i'm righthanded and want to hold it on the ROUND side when portrait is forced!!!!)
- the new ICS launcher... Sonys previous own launcher had a better overview with the sorting possibilities but ok we can have folders now...
- still no thumb keyboard -.-
things i like:
- media from SD card is now directly available and nut just for transfer... finally i have enough memory also without root and mounting stuff ^^
- the new mini-apps are nice but there is still much potential for more apps
- the new version of "Favorites" App is very nice animated and faster
- ICS possibility to deactivate system apps that are not removable... finally i get this google music player away
- a few other ICS related things...
ALL IN ALL this update is a big disappointement... they updated to ICS, integrated one or thwo new features and that's it??? all the big issues are still there since more than six months!!!!!
I have personally had a fantastic experience with the ICS update. Everything seems faster across the board. Menus more responsive, faster browser, better keyboard response/feedback. I also like the ICS look and feel and the mini apps. Really happy with the update so far.
I used to be able to DL directly to my SD Card, and using ES File Manager to move files around. Now it refuses to do so. Anyone else having this issue? If not, what file manager are you using?
My tablet seems to have gone really slow after the ICS update.
I tried a factory restore to ensure that I didnt have too many things installed and decided to start afresh. Didnt help. The tablet is still very slow. While the touch is responsive and I like the features of ICS like slide to dismiss, reading files directly from SD card etc, I definitely donot like the amount of lag I am noticing.
All my apps seem to be really really slow.
My Honeycomb seemed to be far more faster irrespective of all the issues that it had.
Any suggestions anyone?? I am on non rooted US version 16Gb Wifi.

I'm thinking of buying the sony tablet s. I've read on various reviews that this tablet's battery life is not that impressive (Honeycomb0, is that true? And btw how is the battery life after the ics update? Is there any improvement?
someone can connect tablet with PC on MTP usb

On the first time, it took a while to show up as windows tried to reinstall the drivers for the tablet. Maybe you should keep it connected on USB and wait for a while and see if it shows up?

The problem with that app from the market is that it keeps the device awake when you turn off the screen, and it eats through the battery.
On the Android phones I've used (Legend, Desire, Arc S), the WiFi remained connected, but the phone also went to sleep, battery drain was minimal.
This is the behaviour we were expecting to see in the ICS update, but unfortunately it hasn't been fixed...
Hey, i have a 3g tablet, because that i have to wait for upgrading.
But i have an important question for hifi guys: What is with the IR-Remote app...
Are there any changes to the App on Honeycomb?
I bought the tablet for controlling my homecinema an know i want to know if we get makros in the IR-Remote app?
pls check it and give a response to me

Wallpaper reloads after existing app?

I notice sometimes when exiting apps that the background is blank and it takes about a second or so for the wallpaper to load back up again.
Is this normal? I wonder if this is a Lollipop or lack of RAM issue.

This happens to me as well. it always happens when I unlock the device whilst it is in a different orientation. By the looks of it I think its a lollipop/software issue. Nothing to do with the hardware.
Noticed this when rotating the screen

Same here. The app icons also seem to take a half second to reload. The screen also shuts off then on again when rotating as well.
Software for sure, but I'm interested in a fix.
It only happens in the Google launcher.
With the launcher ADW EX rotating the screen works perfectly. No blanks.
Ya I got this issue also. Think it release the memory. Hopefully Google looking into it.
It's fixed in the latest OTA. (still rolling out for many and still not available in Europe).
The launcher redraw and most (if not all) micro stuttering should now be gone.

I got that OTA yesterday evening (local NL time), but it failed. I read elsewhere in the General N9 section that I am not the only one, so I hope Google will send another OTA.
But I'm glad the launcher redraw is no longer a problem after the update.

The OTA is failing for many users because the previous one (the one we downloaded as soon as we booted our N9 the first time) didn't update the bootloader version correctly. Google will surely fix it soon, and there's always the full flashing way (described in detail in several General forum threads) to have it.

Lag

After a few days the tablet has been on, it gets laggy. Opening the app drawer and other things gets choppy. After a reboot, everything is good. Its almost like the cache in memory is cleared. I've never had another tablet that does this. Is there s reason it gets laggy? Is a reboot the only thing that fixes this?

you didn't specify firmware version you're using, but it seems that some app you're using (and is in memory after reboot) has memory leak. It slowly "eats" all the available memory, which prevents other apps, from working normally and causes severe lag. After reboot, there is plenty of free memory and everything works ok, until situation repeats.

4.4.4. How do I figure out which app could be causing this? I looked under running apps and didn't see anything strange.

seems only by deleting apps one by one and testing your device for some time after that.

Welp, doing it over on a different port and cable seems to have handled it.
Flashed it.
Might be placebo but it seems much smoother.
Also the recent bug is fixed and the toggles in the Account Sync have been changed.
Images flashed......"optimizing app 98 of 154" so first 5.1 boot should be soon.
Anybody tested this bug?

What about wifi performance and the audio bug wile/straight after charging/docked?
I don't understand what the bug is. I never experienced it before, but I can try to replicate it in 5.1 if you explain what I am supposed to do clearly.

What I got is, sometimes when starting the N10 while charging, there is no sound at all, and I have to reboot the N10 without charging to get the sound back.
I tried with 5.1 and so far, 5-6 times, no bug, but as I said is only happening sometimes before...
Audio Bug Squashed?
It looks like 5.1 has fixed the audio bug. It has for me at least.

Using the default Launcher3, not really. The Google Launcher lags when pulling down the tray, and lags all other animations for that matter. It always has since 4.4, but I put up with it because I like the GEL. It doesn't lag anywhere else thankfully, so it's your call.
On March 10th I did a factory image update to 5.1 but did not wipe user data on both my Nexus 10 and 5.. At least for me, this is the best version of Lollipop I've experienced.
My Nexus 10 was more stable than my Nexus 5 on any 5.0.x release but it seems that all the issues I'd been experiencing are resolved. On 5.0.x my Nexus 5 experienced the memory leak causing UI slow downs, odd reboots, total freezes needing power cycles and frequent disconnects of both WiFi and my cell network.
Android 5.1.0 did break the K9 email reader but that was fixed this morning and Jota+ SMB support currently is not functioning. On the Nexus 10 my battery stats still does not update always showing 100% charge even when its been off the charger for hours. Its been like that for a long time including with KitKat.
I am rooted and use a number of app beta versions including Nova Launcher, GMD Gesture Control and GMD Auto Hide Software keys, Viper4Android and they all worked before and after the OS update. That is a little surprising as previous Lollipop 5.0.x updates had broken more apps when they were first released. For the first time in a long time MX Player Pro still worked after an OS upgrade.
This was what the Lollipop release should have been. I'm happy especially as my Nexus 5 is as reliable as it was with KitKat.
That's great. Smooth
My 5.02 Nexus got an OTA to 5.1 last night (I'm in the UK). Everything seems fine and I am really happy that I have a tablet that is still supported.

Is anyone getting a screen freeze? Basically the screen just freezes but the unit seems OK ie it's not a system crash. It needs resetting to work again.

Sometimes, but always related with Chrome playing videos.
Hi.
I have narrowed it down to when i bring up google search with the swipe up gesture. Once on google search the screen becomes unresponsive. But a can reboot by pressing the power button and choosing 'reboot now'. I may try and reinstall it.
This only started happening with 5.1.

In my case I have that feature replaced by a more useful one: a handy launcher:

It never freezes.

Games closing itself

As the title says, my games are closing itself after some time. This is happening for about 4 months now. I tried flashing few different ROMs (I did hard-reset each time, completely wiping internal storage), and tried flashing few different kernels, but the problem still appears. It's not issue with RAM because I'm monitoring RAM when it happens, it always has ~100MB free.
I'm currently running Resurrection Remix LP v5.5.9 ROM with ArchiKernel v3.0.31. I don't know anymore what may cause the problem, I tried everything to fix it, but it still appears. Problem wasn't appearing before, but now it is in almost every game. Every other app or while outside the games, everything works smoothly like fresh factory reset was performed. I don't have much apps running in background and I don't run any optimisation apps (like RAM cleaner or app killer in background). Thanks in advance!

Classic Oom behaviour. Even though you think it isnt ram related you'll probably find oom errors in logcat.
S3 i9300 doesn't cope with any os higher than jellybean. Hence why samsung never issued one.
If you encounter these issues on a jellybean rom then the rom is rubbish.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
