Random reboots - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Seems I posted this to the wrong area, hard to find this section from mobile..
I've gotten a couple of random reboots while playing games, not enough to be super concerning but enough to make me want to figure out what's going on.. Anyone else seen this issue? I think it has only happened during bomb squad but I'm not positive and its likely just coincidence..

It just happened to me during Netflix. Are you rooted?

mine shutdown when I was trying to login to dead trigger 2 with an "unknown account" it didnt reboot I had to power it on its kinda concerning cause Ive heard of ppl's shield rebooting but not completely shutting off like mine did.
Hasnt happened yet so it could be a dead trigger 2 bug with the console.

Mine just keeps freezing while playing mupen64. then, it goes to this poltergiest screen. happens every hour if im playing a game continuously. Should I return it? I see a lot of people having reboots, but has anyone seen this before? I think I should probably return my shield pro.

if your rooted i found going to bootloader menu and doing "fastboot -w" will stop random reboots.

Vibrant freezes, screen gets lighters, and lines are seen

So i was playing "Football flick" on my Vibrant today and all of a sudden, the screen got brighter and froze. Horizontal lines (white, black, and green ones) were on the screen as well. I took out the battery and rebooted the phone and everything works fine. I decided to play the game 3 hours later and it happened again. I dont think its the game because i play it all the time and it hasnt messed up until today.
Anyone else with this sort of problem?
Thanks!
Anyone?

Here is a quote of someone else who has the same problem as i do. Their thread didnt get any responses but maybe by reading this you will understand more of what im talking about:
"i play this game and my screen freezes sometimes...like the whole screen turns yellow/green and theres like black lines across the screen....my ram isnt full when playing...is there any way to fix this? and should i return it?"
If you are on stock rom and game is original, legitimate and you ask for help in the company who makes it and they havent seen any issues like that i say you have a hardware problem, and return the phone for warranty.

[Q] my.phones issue.

For the last two days my phone has been anything off at random... nothing has been changed... I'm on the cm9 nightly from the two days ago... this is the thing tho... If I gentely tap the phone it will shut off or shake it... so I figured maybe after time the batter is lose... but it also is turning off if it sits completely still...unless its playing music. It has not turned off since Round 8 ad I have just had it playing music this full time ...any ideas??
I already did a full wipe and re install and when I get home I'm going to Oden back to stock and redo everything.

My only suggestion at this point is odin back to stock 2.1.
Unfortunately this sounds like symptoms of hardware failure. I had a phone (cliq) which would do the exact thing as you described...the phone would vibrate shut off and reboot unexpectedly. I would open the physical keyboard and it would also shut off...this is totally hardware related from my understanding. But that is the worst case scenario.
Hopefully it is a software related issue in your case. Not much else i can say.

Overclocked? Voltages changed at all from default? If you have anything set in voltage control or setcpu, get rid of them and try it. You could also try booting into recovery and see if you can reproduce the problem. That should also help determine if it is software or hardware related.
If the phone is plugged in it does not seem to reboot. i have not had time to mess with it i will check it out this weekend. Weird because it only seems to be doing this at work? I have not had it restart on me at all while at home.
Also if i have the music playing it will not turn off. This weekend im going to oden back to stock and see how it goes. otherwise gonna try to deal with it long enough till the gs3 comes out, ha.

[Q] freeze?

I have two consultations, actually. Hehe.
(1) I'm not really sure what happened but my XS suddenly freezes when I'm in a middle of a game perhaps or maybe doing something with an app.
It just literally freezes. I had to restart, unless it'll drain my battery with it's screen on forever.
Anybody got an idea what happened there? o_o...?
Cause I dont. Havent really touched the phone yet, I mean, I havent rooted it yet and all. So I basically have "just apps and games" here.
(2) Also, a few weeks ago, when I woke up, my phone's DEAD. WTF. I dunno how or why but I'm assuming that my phone's screen was probably on the whole night. (I've observed what happens whenever someone texts me, my phone's light doesnt seem to go off after that), and I'm so confused that I FORGOT what I actually did to solve that, but for some lame reason, it happened again a few days ago.
What was that? o_o...?
xoxo
thanks :3
Wow 173 views and no response.
I'm betting it's something software related like an app or apps you installed causing issues.
Freezing can also be due to the device over heating while playing a game or multi tasking.
Check the apps you installed and remove anything dodgy, failing that try my post about factory resetting or restoring your device and start fresh again.
Don't forget to back up your phone book to gmail and instal the latest updates from the development section.
Failing that take the device back to the store for a replacement/fix.

[Q] Help LG-P760 frequent crash

LG-P760 stock Android 4.1.2
Only basic apps, FB, gmail etc.
1. Factory/hard reset
2. Works around 3-4 days perfectly, then starts to crash.
By crash I mean black screen, nothing helps, only battery pull.
3. After first crash, starts crashing more frequently. Happens only in standby.
Worst was today: If I start phone, log in, then it wont crash before I put it in standby. First time in standby, within 30 second, it had crashed.
twice crashed when someone tried to call me. Vibrated once, then crashed.
I would like to avoid replacing my phone.
Any ideas how to find the source of this problem? Any recommendations?

I had the same problem with Vietnam Rom and it was the baseband. I changed to the baseband from ICS from a Rom of my country so I have Vietnam Rom+Original ICS baseband and everything works well.
Thanks.
Although, I understand it mostly is problem when you have unlocked bootloader.
I am running stock everything.
And they have problem with rebooting phone, mine crashes and freezes.
Weird is that it starts around third day of normal use.
I think I have to take on a quest with a warranty. Does anyone know, can I contact LG straight without the provider, where I bought the phone?

I haven't unlocked it. The problem was the same: SOD sleep of death, when the screen goes off you can't do anything but pull the battery.
But if you can use the warranty use it. You should find the warranty info in the box to know where send it in your city.

Thanks. I will search into it. Sleep of death is new expression for me.
I only have phone, it came from relatives who threw away receipt + box.
Luckily I managed to get new receipt from provider yesterday (I dont think they usually give out receipts twice), so now I can use local warranty.
Thanks everyone for replying. I will post update when I have final solution.
Since you are stock you might want to consider flashing the kdz to see if that helps. Good luck!

I'm having the exact same issue with mine. I've heard everything from "try a different SD card" to "factory reset," and nothing seems to permanently fix the issue. What I've found kind of sort of works is just reboot it a whole bunch until it finally comes up and doesn't do it any more. From there, I'm good to go until the battery runs out or I need to reboot it because all the bloatware is causing it to glitch. This usually means that I have to reboot my device 10+ times in a row every few days. Hopefully, you found a more viable fix than this.

Hi
I managed to kind of solve this issue. Because I am not sure how, I haven't closed thread yet.
Anyway, I warranted device, they re-installed soft. Came back, same thing. After around weeks use, SOD. Factory reset. After that, things went interesting.
I tried not to leave it idle. Always had something running. I also had noticed by the time it never occurred when it was plugged in or music was playing.
One day it did it again, but I was in a hurry and just disregarded it. I did something(I was busy, maybe just plugged it in automatically?) and it came back up. It took like 10 sec for screen to start, but it did just wake up. And it haven't had crash ever since. I have no idea is this solution or is this just some coincidence and I am not keen to factory reset again, to see will it reoccur. It's my only phone
TLDR: Managed to get out of sleep of death, haven't reoccurred since.

Random restarts, only rebootable with battery pull

Hi there.
Hate posting these kinds of things as I know it's probably quite annoying, but I'm getting an odd issue, and don't seem to be finding anything completely similar in the search.
My G5 (UK, rooted, Nougat (stock)) seemingly randomly reboots several times a week. Worse still, when it reboots it seems to stick on the restart at the LG spinning screen. Pull the battery, let it reboot and happy days, but it decided to do it in the middle of the night last night and made me very late for work!!
Is there any way that I can dump some logs on what is happening? I just don't know where to start with this one, and have the fear that it could be hardware related.
Oddly any other type of reboot/shutdown and it will not freeze, so I cannot understand why it does it when this issue occurs... Any pointers?
Many thanks,
Dan.

Sounds like your getting bootloops. When did it start doing it? After you rooted or before? Fool around with anything root related? Try the usual fixes?
