Hello
First of all, i am very new to developing... i have built a kernel from LG source code (for LG G Pro 2)
Can i flash it with (instead of fastboot):
adb shell su -c "dd if=/sdcard/img/boot.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot"
Is there any danger of bricking my phone by flashing a wrongly built kernel? I have download mode and CWM Recovery on my Phone and i don't touch my recovery nor bootloader partition.

I rooted my TF201 using Urkel's Fresh Start method, which included TWRP as a part of the process. I felt more comfortable with CWM, so I tried flashing it, but now I can't enter any sort of recovery mode at all. It just hangs at the Asus logo where it tells me my device is unlocked.
I've tried flashing in fastboot mode:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.8.3.4-tf201.img
fastboot flash -i 0x0b05 recovery recovery-clockwork-5.8.3.4-tf201.img
(What does the -i 0x0b05 flag do?)
While in Android, to force the recovery image to flash:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3
adb shell dd if=/storage/emulated/0/downloads/CWM/recoveryblob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
(Which partition should that command really be going to?)
Tried with different images of clockworkmod, official and unofficial to no avail.
How do I get CWM to work again? My TF201 is otherwise working perfectly, but obviously it'd be nice to have a working recovery.
Tying to install a rom. keep getting this error on cwm. Im stuck in Cwm recovery loop. LG G2 (D802). Installing from otg as pc will not find phone. using adb to push rom
"checking if loki-ifying is needed/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc. /by-name/boot needs lokifying. [-] Failed to find function to patch.
Error loki-ifying the boot image. "
Keep it simple (Noob Friendly)

Thanks hope you can help

You know there's a LG G2 section right? And there's also an irc channel for these types of things.

I was using a guide, https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/guide-how-to-lg-d-631-att-fastboot-t3130955, in hopes to use a custom recovery to restore my phone, it didn't take. Which lead to this problem.
During the process, I used ADB and inputed this command:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/laf
(I also ran this command to zero out the actual block partition)
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p15
So I found this guide, after finding out that a tot file is the only way to restore.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
I did well until the final part of step, which requires the phone to be in download mode. I realize the problem is that the phone is in fast boot instead of download/driver mode, and I have no idea how to switch it back.
Also, The fastboot reboot command does nothing, and it flatout rejects the reboot into bootloader command.
Hi
I have a rooted LG g5 h830
I was on 20c with NSS kernel
There was new notification of update available (20d i guess)
I pressed install and it rebooted the phone to twrp
No files were installed in twrp so I guess it didnt update
From Twrp , i chose to reboot to system but every time it reboots to TWRP
Please help
Edit:
found the fix
run these commands in the TWRP terminal (Advanced > Terminal)
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota
reboot

@drobec255
You by means of ADB always can re-flash phone's Stock ROM ( it's not necessary phone's boot-loader is unlocked )
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot recovery
[i][color=red]Note: In recovery menu presented select option Apply Update From ADB and confirm it, then proceed with[/color][/i]
adb sideload <PATH_TO_STOCK_ROM_IMAGE_FILE_ZIP>
adb reboot

ok, i flashed it to stock ROM, phone works.
I wanna flash it to LineageOS 17.1 but file is ".img.xz" ??? how to? bootloader is unlocked
@drobec255
1st of all things is you must have a TWRP matching your phone at your fingertips.
Next thing is that you must have a Lineage OS 17.1 version that's at 100% compatible with your phone - don't think this exists. BTW: Lineage OS always is offered as a signed ZIP-file.
If these requirements are met, then to replace phone's Android 9 by Lineage OS 17.1 you run this command sequence:
Code:
adb devices
[i][color=red]next 6 cmds backup /efs & /vendor partitions[/color][/i]
adb shell "cat /efs > /data/local/temp/efs_bkup"
adb pull /data/local/temp/efs_bkup %TEMP%\EFS_BKUP
adb shell "rm /data/local/temp/efs_bkup"
adb shell "cat /vendor > /data/local/temp/vendor_bkup"
adb pull /data/local/temp/vendor_bkup %TEMP%\VENDOR_BKUP
adb shell "rm /data/local/temp/vendor_bkup"
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
[i][color=red]temporarily boot into TWRP[/color][/i]
fastboot boot <PATH_TO_TWRP_IMG>
[i][color=red]In TWRP's menu select option Apply update from ADB and confirm[/color][/i]
adb sideload <PATH_TO_LINEAGE_OS_ZIP>
[i][color=red]next 2 cmds restore /efs & /vendor partitions[/color][/i]
adb push %TEMP%\EFS_BKUP /efs
adb push %TEMP%\VENDOR_BKUP /vendor
adb reboot
For anyone that this may still happen too....
Use RSA to put your phone back to it's stock rom. Even if it's bricked. it'll recovery it.
