So it was announced not too long ago that fast charging wirelessly will be coming soon. (http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/25/8844719/wireless-quick-charging-qi)
My question is, does anyone know if S6 edge will be supported once wireless fast charge products come out?
I'm guess I will have to buy a wireless pad that can do fast charging
Nop my guess is every phone out there is only prepared for standard wireless charging so this fast one must operate in a different way, is like fast charging by cables not every phone support it, even if they are charged by cable

Hello everybody!
I've got two questions:
Since I'll be receiving my direly awaited S6 Edge 64gb tomorrow, I have two questions which I couldn't really get any good answers for.
The first one is about the speed of charging. Since the battery in the S6E can't be switched so easy, I'm a bit concerned about battery health, especially since I plan on using the phone for a long time (budget is tight). Now with my last phone (which unfortunately I had to sell in order to come up with the money for the S6E) I used one of my computers USB ports to charge the phone over night. I read somewhere, that it's better for the battery to be charged slowly and since my computer powers the front USB even when switched off, I always used it to slowly charge the phone overnight. It would be faster charging with a wall outlet, but I didnt need it to, so I figured it would be beneficial for the health of the battery.
Is that actually true? Is there maybe even some way to keep the phone from charging higher than 80%?
My second question is about wireless charging. I'd really like to get a wireless charger for my desk at work, however I will be using this ->
*cant post the link, it's the "Galaxy S6 Edge Case, Spigen [CURVED BUMPER] Neo Hybrid Series Case for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge - Satin Silver (SGP11420)" case
case on the phone. Are there any wireless chargers, that will go "through" that case?
If so, do these chargers charge so fast, that they let the battery health deteriorate? Do they stop charging when the battery is full or is there danger for overcharging or heat building up because of the case?
Thank you guys very much in advance for answers, I'm just really looking forward to the phone and I'm eager to do everything right ^^:fingers-crossed:
You shouldn't worry really. There are rampant unjustified myths about quick-charging. If your device is designed for that feature, the processor and software work in conjunction to prevent damage to the battery. The turbo charger provides large amperage to charge quickly, then reduces at an appropriate level. I've used turbo or quick charging since the Motorola Droid Maxx 4 years ago. Today, those Maxx still function as well as the first day. I do not purchase any device that does not have turbo charging. As far as wireless charging, a decent charging plate should have no issue. I use only TYLT and I build furniture around these things. I put glass top over them and never have problems charging.
Thanks so much
Do all the wireless chargers feature "Turbo charging", or do you mean charging with a wall outlet by that?
I've read in some reviews, that in combination with the S6, the tylt charger tends to fully charge the phone, then stop charging, then after a while commences charging again, leading to the phone screen lighting up and the "phone is charging" notification sound playing, then turning off again when the battery is fully charged and so on.
Did you experience any of this?
@myh0mie I guess we are in the same state, I'm also receiving my S6 Edge on tuesday and have been having the same questions as you have about charging this thread will come in handy
@quangtran1 If you use the fast charger on your S6 Edge, are you also experiencing the screen rotation issues people are suggesting that are caused by the fast charger? I really wanna know how i should be charging my phone to avoid damage once i receive it. Thanks in advance
I myself do not have the screen rotation issue with fast charging. I do know, however, that Samsung has acknowledged this on "a very small number of S6 devices, and has the solution to resolve it". Samsung did not disclose whether this was a hardware or software issue. @myh0mie Wireless charging does not offer fast charging. Fast charging comes from the 2-amp wall block.

Oh cool then it's good to hear that it seems like it's NOT the fast charger that causing the issue and the fact that Samsung already has a solution to it
I haven't had a screen rotation issue either, on a 64GB Edge (AT&T).
As far as methods of charging, seems like the "Adaptive Fast Charging" is definitely the fastest way to charge the phone. The feature only seems to work with the packaged charger, though. I have a few 5V 2Amp chargers that don't charge my phone as fast as the packaged Samsung charger. It's extremely effective when you're very low on battery life, below 25%.
If you look at the Samsung charger label, it says it outputs at 9V 1.67Amp OR 5V 2Amp. The 5V 2A is standard on many chargers. The 9V 1.67A must be the Adaptive Fast Charging.
For wireless charging, I purchased a few PowerBot Qi chargers (very good price and reviews on Amazon) and supplied them with 5V 2A power to keep myself topped off at work and overnight. To me, they seem to charge the phone at about the same speed as a generic 5V 1A power source.
My last phone was a HTC One M7 and I kept a close eye on the temperature with an app called Cool Tool. I still run the M7 in the same operating environment as my S6 and have noticed that the S6 runs 10-15 degrees (Fahrenheit) cooler than the M7 in both charging and non-charging states. Hope that helps.
I have the S6 edge with the TYLT desk charger and the TYLT car charger dock. Neither of them charge the phone quickly at all. I am not a fan of either really, but I use the desk charger on my desk at work and it is fine to keep the phone topped up throughout the work day (I forget it's even there). The car one, however, is going back. It charges hellishly slow, especially if you run any tasks like music streaming or GPS. Not a fan.
Hey guys! Bought the official samsung charging pad today, for novelty factor more so then anything else if im honest! It was €55 to buy online here in Ireland (which is crazy money) but i got it along with a case for only €40 as part of a deal so i thought why the hell not. It came without a cable so naturally i assume i must use the fast charge cable with it? Here are a few questions i have.........
If using the fast charging cable with it , does that mean i will be getting fast charging capabilities from it? (iam assuming not)
If its generally not a good idea to use fast charge plugged in over night then does this apply to the wireless pad in conjunction with the fast charger?
And lastly. Can i run the cable from the usb port on my computer or does it have to be plugged in to a socket when using the wireless pad? The answers may seem obvious but just asking none the less! Not taking any chances with this baby ha
I have four of them. Two of the small rectangular ones from last year, and two of the newer round ones from this year, so I'll take a stab at your questions.

I have not seen, nor did I expect to see, any difference using a fast-charger vs. standard. As such, I only use standard charger adapters for wireless duty.

My S6 Edge stops charging while on either version of the wireless charging pad, once it reaches 100%. The light on the (newer, round) pad goes from blue to green once it has reached this point.
And lastly. Can i run the cable from the usb port on my computer or does it have to be plugged in to a socket when using the wireless pad? The answers may seem obvious but just asking none the less! Not taking any chances with this baby ha
Unless your PC can source 2A from the USB port, then, no, you cannot use your PC USB port to power the wireless charging pad.
Any idea where i could get a longer geniune samsung charging cable so? I bought the wireless pad for use at a desk but the cable on the fast charger is too small to reach from the socket to the desk! I would need the cable to be at least another foot or two longer
Questions belong in Q&A, not General.
Thank you.
I have a question I'd like to add!
I've never used wireless charging before, can you use it on the s6 edge with a case on the phone? Does this impede the wireless charging? Thanks!

Impede? Yes.
Any distance between the surface of the charging-pad and the back of your phone will impact the wireless inductive charging. The less, the better.
Also, obviously, any case that includes conductive materials will be a non-starter.
That said, my Speck case and my wife's (brand unknown at this moment) case work satisfactorily with both the Samsung round and rectangular charging pads. I have read that there are people that have had poor wireless charging experiences with some (probably thicker, more rugged) cases.
Searching should find the specifics.
Late week i got my Samsung fast wireless charger pad
At first my device doesn't recognize fast wireless charging and not even show the toggle switch for turning on fast wireless charging..
It is simply says wirelessly charging but instead of charging..my note 8 drains battery...
I have the same issue. I wonder if our wireless chargers are to blame? I got mine from the Samsung/note 8 promotion.
Try a different USB cable. And what charger are you using?
what make and model is the pad? also if im not mistaken, fast wireless charging needs at least 10 watt/5v 2amp capable chargers.
also check for crappy usb cable, use an other one.
I in the past have found that most def the charge blocks and cables make all the difference in the world with the wireless charge.....
I will second these post
My Note 8 used to charge successfully on the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless station, but now it says it's fast-charging but it actually continues to drain. I have three chargers in the house, using the provided Samsung USB cable, and they continue to charge my Samsung S8 and S7, but the Note 8 does not charge successfully on any of them anymore.
Was planning on using the fast charger that came with my S6 Active to keep at work. It still fast charges my S6 but when I use it with my S9 it only slow charges. I've checked the markings on the charger and they are exactly the same as on the charger that came with my S9 even down to the model number except for 1 thing. One says made in China and the other says made in Vietnam.
The fact that the old one still fast charges my S6 to me rules out the charger being faulty. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Ive been experiencing the same problem with my Mi power bank 2i.
When i connect it to S9 plus ots gives Fast charging message and then turns to cable charging.
I hope they rectify it in a patch.
This is ridiculously bad as i travel a lot and only depend on power babk 2i as it fast charges all samsung phones.
Any1 else having same problem ?
The charger that came with my S7 fast charges the S9+ without any issue, as does the 3rd party car charger I'm using. Does the one that came with you S9 fast charge properly? Are you using the cable that came with your S9 with the old charger?
I have a ton of chargers. The one that came with my nexus 6, my ATT prime time tablet, and my LG v20 and LG v495 tablet all fast charge my 9+. They are all Qualcomm fast charge 2/3. My Anker qc3 does fast charging as well. Variety of cables, some generic, some LG.
If I think of it when I get home I'll check my power bank. It's a qc 3.0 and is a 10k mah I think. Was 20ish dollars on Amazon.

Yep, the charger that came with my S9+ works perfectly, and yes I am using the cable that came with my S9+
I have the same issue with an ANKER charger and CHOETECH cable that was working perfectly with my S8+...
i charged the my s9+ after draining it completely without powering it ON.
Charged in 100mins.
The progress was like 15 mins -24%,45 mins - 60%, 80 mins - 90%, this is the first time i was able to charge it quickly.
I was very disappointed with charging time but this is third cycle, so i am sure its learning the way we use.
I charged it with QC3.0 charger
I will be posting more about this.
I think I have a Fast Charge problem with my AT&T branded S9+. Fast charging displays when I use the included cable and wall adapter and even if I use the included wall adapter and any of These Aukey Cables. But if I use those cables or even the cable included with the phone with This Aukey QC 3.0 Car Charger or This Anker QC 3.0 Power Bank I cannot get Fast Charging to display. Yes Fast Charging is enabled in Battery --> advanced. It worked for the first couple days with all combinations but now its as described. Even did a factory reset last night and restored from my previous phone's Google Backup which I did not do the first time (used Smart Switch the initial startup on launch day and only moved a few things over) Should I swap the phone out for another?
Im getting the same issue when using Aukey power bank. It does not fast charge my S9+. Works perfectly on S7 and S8. Do you guys have any luck?
Any resolutions for this? Same is happening to me. Is there a particular brand of cable that might help?

Most of my cables are Choetech brand from Amazon. Every single QC 2.0 charger fast charges my s9+
Just throwing this out there to rule it out, you can enable/disable wireless charging in the Advanced Features, Accessories section, check it's on.
Same here? Is this a bug introduced by a firmware update? Why aren't enough ppl talking about it
Does it work properly?
Does it super charge?
Is there any problem of using an old wirless charger?
Should i buy a new one or something?
Sorry if this may look kinda stupid questions :\
Older wireless chargers work fine for the s9 and s9+
charge is slow, as quick charge is not supported by the s6 wireless chargers well a fast wireless charger will fast charge , but my s6 wireless charger is the regular non fast charge version and I know it works.
Phone does not get warmer then other charging options and my wireless charger is not getting hot.
I have purchased a rav power quick charger which I enjoy. It's fast.
Hope these responses help
