I am currently using Swift Key as my default keyboard. Whenever I switch to ultra power saving mode and switch back, my default keyboard is changed to Samsung keyboard. How can I fix this?

I had that same problem when using Fleksy. To fix your issue disable the samsung keyboard. On a side note, I would discourage the usage of SwiftKey because it recently was anounced that it has a major security flaw that can be easily exploited.
If you try to disable Samsung keyboard you have not any keyboard in The ultra power saving mode. This is The only keyboard you can use in that mode. I use SwiftKey too

If you read proper you will know that version of the swift key was pre installed on the devices the one on the playstore don't have any problem at all [emoji39]

You do realize that the keyboard can’t be uninstalled and even when it’s not the default keyboard, it can still be exploited right?
It's not a good idea to patronize people about this issue if you didn't know that. They should know it is still an issue, even when they're not using it.
Make sure you are using an encrypted VPN on the android and do not visit any questionable sites until this issue is fixed. You'd have to root your phone and remove it, being that this issue happens on the "samsung keyboard", it does not show up as "Swiftkey" on your device. Once removing Samsung Keyboard, reboot your phone and you should be fine.
Ironically, sometimes it's safer to be on a rooted device with non standard software as exploits are typically done with the preinstalled software on the phone.

Any suggestions on how to stop Samsung virtual keyboard from popping up when using Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 keyboard dock?
The only idea I have seen so far is to use Titanium to delete the stock Galaxy Tab 10.1 keyboard?
Thanks!
Surely you could freeze it using titanium backup rather then uninstall it completely

Thank you for your reply.
I have never used Titanium and never rooted a device.
I guess it must be time to try both
what rom are you using? It shouldn't pop up at all if you are using the samsung keyboard.
As ezcats said, it shouldn't pop up all the time... The first time I used mine, it did, but just push the key on the physical keyboard to bring down the on-screen keyboard and shouldn't pop up anymore. It doesn't on the Canadian stock 3.2 anyway.

Every time I touch the screen, the virtual keyboard pops up. Is there anyway to stop this from happening when using the keyboard dock?
I'm using the galaxy note 10.1, but this was a thread I found in my google search. I figure the same would apply.

I had the same issue and found a work around from another member. Go to the play store and install the 'Null Keyboard' app.
When you first drop the Tab in to the keyboard, you will get a message about the device will be using the default on screen keyboard. After acknowledging the message, press the keyboard key on the physical keyboard. Then touch the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen and select 'Null Keyboard'. Done, no more on screen keyboard when touching an input field on the screen.
The only downside is that you will have to go through this process every time putting the Tab in the keyboard dock.
If this helps, click my Thanks button :good:
I'm trying to use Touchpal on Note ICS. The keyboard is squeezed to the left of the screen. Anybody figured out how to get it working correctly?
Thanks.
This is because the note with ics has one handed keyboard operation. You can disable it by going into settings>one-handed operation

I don't think it is that. I unchecked all fields in one-handed operation and it still behaves the same way.
Are you in portrait or landscape? Is it happening on both Compact & Normal layout? I haven't upgraded to ICS yet, but my 2 keyboard (at the moment) are TouchPal and Smart Keyboard.
If TouchPal is having problems, wondering is SK is also - in which case I'm not switching yet. Thanks for posting about the problem!!
Is there a fix to this? I also have the same problem and settings/one handed keyboard ain't the solution as it seems....

Same issue here and its not the one handed operations settings. There are multiple reports in the Play Store comments related to the problem.
Settings/Language&Input/ hit the right side of Samsung Keyboard/ roll to the bottom and hit Reset all settings
why is it appears after update to 4.4.2 ?
how do i cancel it ?
thank you!
That is the way it's meant to be on android, the only reason it was missing was because people weren't used to it. The reason is galaxy phones with their crappy hardware buttons, considering you have onscreen navigation keys this button is equal essential and easy to use.
Is the onscreen menu button still present in 4.4.2 or is it replaced by recent activity?
Is there a way to remove it?
It's now stock to show all the time on Android 4.4 it's Google way to force company's to get rid of menu buttons and use Google. Which I Perfer since I hate menu buttons but love the three dots

Is that chrome you are on ??
Even if google forced it to be, it wont be there on the native browser.
Chrome is exclusively a Google product so all the changes will be present in the latest versions.
Has anyone been able to enable a second language in the Samsung keyboard? I was able to add a second language by
going to "language and input"
Click the cog wheel next to the Samsung keyboard
Click "+ select input languages"
Select the check box next to an another language
Back
However, I do not see the arrows on the space bar to switch languages. This works fine on my wife's note 3.

Bumping.
Is this working for everyone else? Can anyone try enabling a second language on the samsung keyboard and switching by swiping the space bar?
Thanks for trying.

Same problem here on the international version. For some strange reason word prediction does show two languages even though spacebar says English. Anyway that works more or less although I prefer a single language. Hope Samsung fixes this.
Works for me

Yup, I don't have the arrows on the specebar, while I did select both English and Dutch. Unfortunately resetting doesn't help and have yet to find the process to empty cache and clearing data.
Update: found the Keyboard process and emptied cache and cleared data...to no avail. I think it stores language settings somewhere else since Dutch appears back in the samsung keyboard language list immediately after opening the cockwheel button.

As a workaround, and if you want to keep Samsung keyboard, rather than adding a second language to it, try installing a completely new keyboard with Dutch as a default language (any stable keyboard app will do). The switch between keyboards will appear in the phone's notification area, instead of Samsung keyboard's space bar.
I actually prefer it this way: the space bar thingy is finicky, and the notification area's one is super clean and easy.
Thanks, that's one way at least partially getting around the issue. There are plenty good alternative keyboards available, however I like the extra row with numerical keys Samsung offers. For me a real time saver.
Since the problem doesn't occur with all S5's I assume there is rogue app causing this problem in the first place.

while I had the keyboard open I pressed and held the key with the settings icon on it (lower left side) and then selected settings again - once I did this - I saw a screen saying new languages were avaiablle - I selected several - went back to the keyboard and saw "English" in the spacebar - when I pressed and held the space bar, I could scroll right or left to choose from any of the languages I had selected.
I think it allowed me to select up to 5 or so - but I may be wrong and there might not be a limit - I didn't go that far into it - I personally only need english - I was just trying to see if I could figure it out -
hope this helps.
I am trying to use the keyboard case for a lot of text entry, but I find that sometimes it will playup. it will still allow text entry, but when I press the space bar it will skip back to the beginning of the current word before entering the space.
has anybody seen this issue?

Welcome to my world. This seems to be a widely spread issue. It is not clear whether it is cover's issue or the tablet itself. I have sent my cover for replacement, hoping it will fix the problem. However, i do believe that it has to do with the tablet itself. Probably the connector. Try to take to service center if you can. My problem is i have to send it all the way to USA and i am in Europe

I've that issue, too. I found that it has s/th to do with the language settings. If you write a correct spelled word all is ok. If you have spelling mistakes the cursor jumps to the beginning of the wrong written word.
Unfortunately I've no time to discover this further.
Hope s/o comes up with a solution to prevent this annoying behavior.
Do you all use a different software keyboard than the stock Samsung one? I use Swype, and when I connect the keyboard, it acts strangely until I switch it to the Samsung keyboard (search+space on hardware keyboard).

I logged a problem with Samsung. It is a bug in their stock keyboard which you need to use for s-pen functions. They don't seem to be planning to do anything to fix the issue. Using an alternate soft keyboard for when an external keyboard is in use was my only solution
Make sure you all formally lodge the problem with Samsung support.

Ok.. So I downloaded swiftkey app but the problem now is that for some reason I wasn't able to add two languages under this keyboard app for the physical keyboard settings.
Under the physical keyboard settings in samsung I have now 3 languages:
1. samsung keyboard - Hebrew
2. samsung keyboard - English
3. Swiftkey - Hebrew
I want to add Swiftkey - English but wasn't able to do so...
anyone who is using swiftkey with two languages and with physical keyboard?
Nowadays you can see technology will upgrade day by day. If you have this keyboard problem on your tablet, then you should try latest OSU tablet for your work.
