Hello people, this is the first public build of SlimLP for grouper on 5.1. Soon tilapia will follow
While internal testing was successful, I need someone to check out how it behaves in real life scenarios. Features included but not tested are f2fs support ( /data and /cache) and multirom.
Let me know of any bugs/missing features and other annoyances. Cheers

Is USB audio working and is DSP Manager functioning with it? Never tried SlimKat and would be eager to try this but headphone amp on this tablet is terrible.
BTW, it works on CM but they use half-baked AudioFX instead of DSP Manager.

Didn't flashed it yet but I wouldn't be surprised if audioFX is here as well. It present on other devices.

all slim builds have audioFX by default. DSP manager is ancient and it's phased out

It may be ancient but it has the Bauer stereophonic to binaural transformation which IMO is essential when using headphones.
On CM12 (from last month, at least) AudioFX doesn't even work with USB audio, though it works with headphone port.
So the question remains, do USB DACs work on this ROM?

Thanks for the new build, happy to see that you're carrying on for grouper. I really like layers and I know that Slim has not yet committed to it for 5.1.1. Will you possibly be cherry-picking layers commits in the meantime from @ezio84 in your future builds, or will your builds be pretty much straight from source?
Thanks again,
Mike T

Try f2fs as well. Don't have this device right but I will flash it soon and won't have time for f2fs testing.

Please port IBSS mode on this ROM from CM or at least show how it could be done on slimrom.

Just flashed.
F2FS (data/cache) works fine.
I will report back if there is any problem found.
Good work!

Hi, due to time restrictions, I'll mostly release mainline merged code and possibly experimental on device trees. That is subject to change in the future

It's based on upstream SlimLP sources + tweaks for CM12 by Nameless
or entirelly based on Nameless sources (a.k.a CM12) ?
I'm asking because I have the nasty "i can't hear the contact calling me" bug in dialer in CM (11 and 12).
external sd card is not reading . its reading in other cm12 roms.

We might go official if current bugs are ironed out, and if Slim team aproves my request as we need to split current kernel sources for smdk4412 devices and only use Nameless kernel source for I9300.
Do the current Archi/Arter/Boeffla kernels for LP work on current ROM ?

Team OctOs presents Oct-L.
We maintain a current release record and change-log on our website: http://www.teamoctos.com
- Please Do Not Mirror our files without talking to us. We can do that ourselves should we desire to. -
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 5 (Lollipop)?
A: Yes, this is Android 5.1.1
Q: What code is Oct-L based on?
A: Starting with Oct-L, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 12 code.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: All Android code is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Under previous releases, we tried very hard to limit the number of "Not from Google directly" repositories that we used. Unfortunately, issues with devices, the need for Code Aurora Foundation (CAF) repositories for Qualcomm devices, and compatibility issues meant fighting code more often than not. We decided that since the code-base for many repositories were the same across most ROMs, picking a starting point to build the user experience on outweighed the desire to craft code from scratch, or fix broken code to make it work with other changes we already had.
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-L.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favourite Android 5 based GApps package
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files
Reboot
The Oct-L ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider
The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. We have all code we use internally in the creation of Oct-L available on our GitHub repositories.
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-L builds use the device's stock CyanogenMod 12 kernel.

-Battery life good (make sure keep Google play services in check) sometimes I get lucky with the gapps I try, sometimes not
-GPS great
-No dual window (we're cm based)
-Bluetooth good. I believe NFC works, but I don't use it. Anyone chime in?

Thanks for bringing this ROM to the G3. Everything is running good. Very snappy, no lag, lots of features. I didn't try nfc or Bluetooth since I don't use them. Keep up the good work.

Hello! Thank you for bringing your ROM to us! What do you mean by "make sure to keep Google play services in check"? Is there something I should be looking for?
Thank you in advance!

NFC? It's best not to bring that up around here - it's the bane of the G3 dev and kind of the Holy Grail. Bluetooth isn't totally ironed out yet, but I find it plenty reliable. Thx for bringing us OctOS @red3razor! Since the early S3 days, I've dug your product and team attitude!

Until Lollipop, Rom has always been AOKP based. Unfortunately, since AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year, we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.

If enough people want it (and if OP doesn't mind) I could do a little kernel hack to bring this to the P5210. There'd be some caveats in that your device would "think" its a p5200 so to speak (so constant no signal, etc) but it should work in theory
P5220 is out though, would need a complete rebuild

I don't mind at all. XDA is a camunity I have no problem with anyone tweaking anything I build. That us how we grow. I am going to have a look at maybe download ing a ROM for the other variants and try and copy the proprieties. I will need someone to test though... Anyone want to test for me?
Edit: I managed to figure out where to put the files. On my mission I discovered that @nels83 already included the required files in his source. Good man he went threw a lot of effort bring cm to our device and I was only able to port aicp because his cm build was so well documented. I am busy running brunch now. It will probably run threw the night, hopefully it will build without errors. I am doing the LTE version first because I am a little bit cofused with the config file of the WiFi version.
Lookin g for testers for p5220
Thanks for this ROM mate, totally appreciated...Will test and feed back
New World Order (NWO)
ROM pretty good and obviously stable, haven't ran into any FC so far?
I've got few questions?
1.can this kernel running the ROM be over clocked?
2.slim floats it's enabled but I can't see button to run apps in multi window!!
Am i interpreting this wrongly?
...thanks again for this beautifully stable ROM!

Hey unfortunately I don't have the device to test it out. I have stopped building because my company uses windows server so I had to sacrifise my linux machine. I defenatly want to get back into it so I am thinking of running the compile in hyper v. I will need to resync all the source again so its gonna take a few weeks before I'm up and running again. When I am up and running I am going to try build AICP 11 then I will attempt to compile for all the devices.

ROMS | 6.0.1 | YoshiShaPow's Development Hub

Hi Bacon Community!
Let's keep this short and simple...
I will be regularly building and uploading OmniRom 6.0 and Slim6 builds to this thread.
OmniRom is built with stock Omni trees.
Slim6 is built with Sultanxda's CAF based trees.
Optimized with JustArchi's ArchiDroid Optimizations V4.1 - Unleash the power!
READ BELOW
When reporting bugs, please state which ROM it is, the build date, and what GApps!

GApps
I recommend using OpenGApps or SlimGApps. Other GApps are untested by me so check the thread before complaining about bootloops!
I will probably be adding small features like Viper4Android, SnapdragonCamera, etc. in future builds, but don't ask when because you won't get an answer!

The very first Omni build is up! This one uses completely stock sources with no modifications at all. Sadly, I will not be able to provide changelogs for every build at the moment because it will just take waaay too long. Once I get things going and the changelog script working, then I will start posting them. Happy flashing!

I'm positive that it uses oppo camera libraries because of the shared proprietary vendor.
Eagerly awaiting the slim builds! Right now on Sultans ROM, but need slim features ?

Tnx ????
Couldn't get it to boot. Performed a clean flash. Even redownloaded it
The ROM is very, very fast and the ColorOS camera k2 works great ?
Tnx @YoshiShaPow ??
Any chance getting the gesture typing work with omni builds? I never install GAPPS, but with slim 5 gesture typing worked fine. Sometimes the solution was to copy approriate ljn_latinimegoogle.so file into /system/lib folder, but it doesn't help with omni 6.
What to do? Typing without gesture typing is really slow. Installing privacy pervasive GAPPS is out of question, nor installing any apks.
Thank you already in advance!

What GApps are you using?
I have read the full OP, and I know that you're currently building unmodified Omni source. Does this mean that at this stage, your build, and herna's are the same? Do you plan to add your own modifications, or just continue to build from source? Sorry for the newbie question. I hate to pollute development threads.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Herna's source is slightly modified (I know he builds SnapdragonCamera rather than the stock camera app). Other than that, it's pretty much the same. I will be adding things later on.

The only bug I've found so far is that NFC doesn't work, but it's not really a bug. Omni is implementing some magical NFC changes so it will be fixed soon.
Will the Slim6 builds be CAF based?

Its AOSP based so it shouldn't encrypt (not sure though), I'm unencrypted so no problems here. The ROM includes snap dragon camera and exodus updater pre installed. Any apps you don't require can be removed by the system app remover in settings.Yes its rooted.
Anyway its running smooth here , nice job guys...
ok, some "official" informations:
Indeed the rom leaves the device unencrypted if it is like that. We don't feel like forcing anything.
And yes, the rom is prerooted with latest supersu beta (2.68).
The rom is a mix of AOSP,CAF and CM.
We used CM as hardware/device base, but removed all these cm special stuff, like their framework etc.
The rest is aosp based with some mixup with caf where essencial needed (to support cm device stuff).
Our ROM is NOT a build in the usual userdebug type but as user type (like all the OEM ROMs). The ROM is signed with our own key.
Why have we decided that way?
Because a user build with own key signing is a little smoother most times (because of less debuggin logs in the background) and also it's more secure (because of the unique key used to sign every file).
We haven't added much stuff. Like already mentioned, we added SnapCam instead of the AOSP camera, and some other AOSP source Apps.
Beside the normal System App Remover, you can also remove AOSP source Apps, after you installed the Play store version (eg. Calendar, Deskclock etc.) by using the new AOSP App-Manager.
Hope that helps a litte. In the end, it's best to see yourself and to decide whether you like Exodus or not
Up and running for a couple of hours now, didn't know it was pre-rooted, so flashed 2.68 again :silly:. So far it's been really smooth and lag free, just the right amount of features, not overwhelming in any way. Bottom line: rock solid! Excellent work this, as should be expected coming from Martin's stable. Thank you guys, especially the OP for graciously sharing your work with us, another win for Shamu!!
Any 6.0.x GApps of your choice, we recommend opengapps.org 64bit

nope shamu is 32bit. I'm guessing he copied his op from the n5x or n6p forums and forgot to change some stuff

Yes, it does.
On Sprint. Wifi tethering is not working. Tried several attempts. Also went into developer options to enable keep cellular signal on while on wifi.
I noticed in the wifi tethering setting in the disconnect while idle it says "always".
I attached a logcat.
Everything is smooth and great in this rom, finally something to settle on. THANKS A LOT Devs!!!
BTW could someone tell me if we can edit the quick tiles on this rom, ive looked everywhere but was unable to find such option. Thanks!
