Hi guys,
I'm currently running official 3.09 on my Z7 Max, with Gapps installed via TWRP.
I saw that there are some newer udpates (3.19/3.20) - can someone tell me the difference?
I'm not sure I want to reflash my phone etc if its not worth it.
Thanks!
After being on v3.09 for a while, I'm now on v3.19 and do strongly recommend it. :good:
It might be easier to jump to v3.20, though...
Please tell us how it went.
Hey, thank you!
how would it be easier to jump to 3.20? can I flash it straight on 3.09? if so, can you link me please?
Please look for my report thread in the "Help and Troubleshooting" subforum... Can't link it right now, I'm on my phone.

I flashed over 3.15 with TWRP without any issues. However I noteiced that 3.20 has GPS fix issues.
Take a Nandroid backup as always
Hey guys, I am currently on CM12.1, but would like to try out the Official ROM for Z7 max. Heard the version 3.22 is super stable now. How do i go about in installing this? Do i need to flash v1.64 first and then work my way from there? Is there a faster route where i can just jump to the v3.22 ROM without having to install the ROM in sequential order? Any kind of help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Ok here it is,
Im reading and reading about the rooting.
I tryed to synch my tab with kies to root my tab following this THREAD but it doesnt work
So I posted about it and someone suggested me to check the LOOK HERE THREAD instead
I have a p7500 16gb 4G(well in fact 3G++) and wi-fi (p7500ruxkh4)
Im in canada (quebec province) and am with rogers
data plan, locked sim
honeycomb 3.1
kernel is 2.6.36.3
Now i want to use some apps like titanium backup and some others that need a rooted tab and thats it. I dont want to change kernel or rom or whatever else.
In the LOOK HERE THREAD, there is 2 different P7500 rooting method, one for the 3G and one for the 4G.
On my box and in my "task bar" its says 4G but for what i know, its more 3G++ than real 4G, So WICH one of the tuto do i follow ?
Also, at http://www.samfirmware.com/ i cant find the stock firmware for my p7500ruxkh4
That mean that if i do wrong, i wont be able to recover as brand new. Any clues of where to find it ?
Now about CMW and Odin, since i just want to root, do i have to dl thoses programs ?
Also in the UNROOT tutorial, you guys talk about the filesfordummies, but for what i read, this file is for the p7510 and not for my p7500 right?
So if i want to UNROOT my P7500, what are the proper steps to follow ?
I know, theses are probably noob questions but after searching on the net and this forum, I couldnt find any clear anwsers so i think i should ask you guys first instead of trying and brick my tab.
There is 5 bold/underline questions. I hope some of you have all the anwsers.
Thanks in advance for your help
1. IMPORTANT: in the look here thread use the root package for the 3G model
the 4G/LTE version will cause your system to bootloop
2. DO A NANDROID backup of your stock install -- then you have that to go back to.
3. Team Overcome have a great guide and package: stock for restore and clean purposes, CWM for root usage and a very nice custom rom: see here
4. if you want a custom kernel, there is one by Pershoot and the modification by rego here which plays nice with Overcome and matches your 7500 very well.

I was wondering if you backed up your Stock Firmware? I am using some Europe firmware as of now because I was one of the unlucky who used the 4G unlock.

well, i rooted my tab and used rom manager to backup my actual rom. i dont know if it can help u.
another thing, i changed the hosts file in /system/etc/hosts to avoid ads in games or app.
since im not rally used to all this stuff, tell me if there is something i can do for you, and if so, ill help with pleasure
If you backed it up just after you rooted it should be okay, I should be able to load your Backup to get my rom back to normal and then Factory Reset to get it all cleaned off. Let me know if there is a way you can email or dropbox it to me in a pm.
It would be awesome!
check ur pm, if it work, just click thanks
Thanks alot. I'll click thanks and personally write a thank you note.
Just so you know you're likely to be asked to help other Canadians as well. As the firmware is apparently hard to come buy.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply. Yes the file worked. Although your stuff was backed up on it as well. I just wiped after the first startup.

Hi,
I really hope someone can help, after installing CyanogenMod my xperia no loger gets past the opening screen which has the round circle animation with CyanogenMod in the middle.
I can get into recovery so if someone could provide ideally either a stock rom or possibly instructions on how to get past this it would be greatly appreciated.
I've looked for a stock rom but can't seem to find one.
BTW this is a SGP321 model
Thanks in advance

Hi,
1. you can find the Stock firmware here.
2. To maybe fix the bootloop I would need more info
- Which Cyanogenmod did you use?
- Did you wipe beforehand?
- If you try to mount /data in recovery do you get a warning that it is inaccessible

Hi,
Apologies for the late response and thank you for your help.
I don't know how but the device seems to be working now with cyogen 10.1.2...weird
I do have a follow on question, if that's ok, can i load your recommended 10.2 version or the stock rom after installing cyo 10.1.2?
apologies for the newbie question but thanks again for links.
Best regards

Hi,
- theoretically you should be okay updating to CM10.2, but make a nandroid backup nonetheless. I use CM10.2 for 4 days sraight now and it works just as good as CM10.1 for me.
- going back to stock on the other hand will most certainly not work without losing your data.

Thanks a lot lowtraxx,
thankfully I not loaded anything on so no major data to lose. will give 10.2 a go after a backup.
thanks again for the support, really appreciate it.

I'm a veteran of the HTC phones (and at least used to Samsung devices), but my friend wants his G3 to have a custom ROM on it. So I start looking around threads, and I didn't find any straightforward instructions on someone starting out.
Do I need to be S-Off or unlock a bootloader or anything like that? Or do I just grab the custom recovery and ROM, adb the recovery, and install the ROM? Everything I see just says to install the ROM from TWRP and go, but that's not very helpful unfortunately. He's on the latest LP ROM and firmware from Verizon, and I did at least see that this won't be a problem (unlike other devices where newer firmware can sometimes cause unlock issues. I'm probably going to install the Jasmine ROM on his phone to keep it relatively stock for him.
I'll take directions or even just a link if somebody has one handy. Thanks ahead of time for the help

Best/easiest option,
Downgrade to 12b using kdz
Root w/new root method
Flash twrp (adb, flashify, or dd)
Flash jasmine L Rom base
Flash jasmine L small upgrade builds if available
Profit!
Most links can be found in op 2 of my Reference sticky in the Verizon general forum.

Thanks, somehow missed that thread. Glad to see its relatively straightforward with LG, considering it's not my phone and I haven't had an LG to work on (until I get the G4 ).

Hey guys, so the last phone I rooted and had a bootstrap on with custom roms was the Motorola Droid x2. We couldn't even get into the kernel. So with that being said I've acquired super user on my g3 months ago to freeze apps. But now I don't depend on my phone like I did then for work. So I want to do the whole thing and I'm unsure what choices to make. I'm not looking for a guide for installing stuff (at least not yet ) just trying to get suggestions and hopefully good recommendations.
So here's the main point for the post
TLDR!!!!!
Current android version 5.0.1
kernels- unlock it? Change it? Not sure what all you can actually do with that.
Bootstrap- clock work mod? Or any other one can't think of names but need something to load roms
Rom for battery and power- cyanogenmod is what I use to run on the x2 not sure if it's still one of the best?
Anything else I missed that I should get and check out?
Thanks in advance
Put TWRP custom recovery on your phone with the autorec TWRP app by @bender_007, in the General section of the non-variant specific G3 sections. Once you give the app superuser permissions it looks like it's hung up but give it 10-30 seconds because it's backing up your current recovery. Then click the button to install TWRP. Download the latest TWRP v2.8.7.0 from its thread also somewhere in the G3 sections, and flash it from your current TWRP.
I use @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 ROM, which is based on the latest official LG ROM, build 35B, based on Android 5.1.1. Very happy with it, very smooth and great on battery.
I haven't heard the term bootstrap with regards to custom recoveries. I'd suggest just calling them custom recoveries.
Thanks for your input it's been a while after I read it I was like yep it's custom recoveries lol thank you again

its you. i used a pc to access the site most of today and haven't had an issue.
Alright thanks I'll look into my pc then. Also I haven't decided if I want to flash a custom kernel I don't know what all it can change any advice?
Okay, thank you in advance to anyone that can help me with this matter. I've spent the last 4-5 hours reading and I can't seem to figure out what I need to find. Here it goes.
I have a Nexus 6p and a Oneplus 3T. Both are rooted and Rom'd with no problems. I just bought an Honor 5X for my son and I unlocked it, put on TWRP 3.0 and rooted it. The Honor 5x is on the EMUI 3.1/ Android 5.1.1 I downloaded the beanstalk ROM and it failed. Am I missing a step somewhere? Should I be somehow on MM 6.0? or can I just go ahead and flash the beanstalk ROM?
Any help you guys can give me I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah you need to be on marshmallow firmware, most roms have that listed in the op (beanstalk 7.1 does not though so you get a free pass haha)
My next question is which MM update do I use? I see all kinds available. Does anyone have a link to the right one please? Also will I need to root again after updating to MM?
Thanks.

Update depends on the device. What model do you have?
Generally you will need to return to the stock recovery to take the OTA. Then root again after updating to marshmallow firmware. But again, there are a couple ways to do it properly depending on what you are looking for
I have the L24.

Since you are on stock, you need to flash the OTA. However, I'm pretty sure you need to be in Stock recovery so flash that first and then take the OTA, most likely though the dload method. Odds are the OTA won't show up by itself but it's not a problem, just download the OTA and use the dload method described in @clsA thread
Try in guides section , we made numerous guides for u
