Anyone more think that all the video samples are choppy like the phone can't maintain the framerate and worse in quality than I4?
Looked great to me. Didn't see any chop.

first, i'm see it ok, no double frame & stutter when recording , second, since when the I4 can record at 1080p? if you want to compare, compare with 720p recording for SGS2, i'm sure SGS2 better then I4...
Yea I see some stutters... I dunno if it's just because of early software or youtube compression or whatever. First of all this is 1080p, so you can't really compare it to the iPhone's 720p.
The only way to check for exact output is to download and analyze the file outputed by the phone itself, as youtube is notorious for compressing and decreasing framerates to decrease size.
So far I have seen nothing but great opinions in reviews as far as 1080 recording go...
And as many have said rotten-apple company phone does not do anything better than 720.
They seem fine to me as well. Perhaps check that your Graphics card can play back that resolution.
Not criticizing you, just merely stating the obvious.
Seems awesome to me, never thought a phone could record like that, if you're on Mac or Linux don't forget Flash can sometimes be awful on these OS.
I am on a Mac and it looks fantastic here.
The video quality is smooth and crisp. If you pause it, you can actually clearly see license plates.
Wow, what crappy video from a phone.
If I were you I wouldn't buy it.
Saving the stock for yourself there?

Irony? If not, which phone do you have ?
of course it will be not like canon or nikon whatever cameras
its a smartphone .. with a camera and capable of recording 1080p @30fps .. not bad
dont expect too much from a phone
if u want a pro camera go buy one .. like canon vixia hf20
Yes total sarcasm.
I watched the video and I honestly could not see what the guy is talking about.
The video looks flippin great. And seeing the latest bench marks on the phone I very happy I passed up the Atrix not to mention that the Atrix is locked up tighter than a drum.
Oh, OK. It's always difficult to know whether it's sarcasm or not when it's written and not spoken.

Hmm i dont see any choppy video anywhere! and considering that the video is this good from a pre production model, i cant wait to see what the retail unit can do
There is no denying that the video is choppy. Thats a shame, hope the finished product is better. Some here are saying its only a phone so don't expect too much, but the iphone 4 has smooth video recording and so too does the 3GS. I think we've come to expect better.
just use 720p and you ll be fine...
Remember that these videos have been uploaded to Youtube and been encoded by Google again. If you actually go to Keepvid.com and download the video at full 1080 and watch it in VLC, they look gorgeous.

Thats not the solution.
If they sold the phone as 1080p 30fps, it should be 1080p 30fps that it is SMOOTH video not skippy one.
hi guys
since I see the videos uploaded on youtube, unfortunately the quality of video in 720p is very poor, it is the fault of youtube?, I see more in this sensation, we have no hope in the future for video on this device to 1080 p?
For me to have a good quality video is very important.
I do not know what to say. Depends on the video, although it is 720p, there are many factors that matter in sharpness.
I say it's youtube, I have some videos and I can say the video looks far superior on my device..

My camera hand isn't exactly good unless I'm using 2 hands, but It was meant to be a test for the average user so I did
The difference between 1080p and 720p is irrelevant on anything under 50"
The video either sucks because you are not good at recording and correcting your settings appropriately or YouTube compressed your video,
Ima say YouTube compressed your video...
P.s. or the phones camera could suck..

Damn, that's impressive. The 3D doesn't come close....
So now the evo 3d has been succesfully rooted, could it be possible to get 1080p recording on the EVO 3D??
I would like to know as well.
Based on the performance of 720p recording I don't think I'd even want to see how choppy 1080 would look. The SoC is indeed very capable of handling it but I think it is limited based on storage write limitations not to mention the sensor's lighting conditions. Even if we could write 24fps (def not 30fps) in all but perfect lighting we wouldn't even be getting 24fps from the sensor...likely under 10 most of the time based on how 720p recordings average out.
...but then again I could (hopefully) be very wrong.

i think you might speak the truth there is a reason HTC didnt include this, after all.
Yes we have all the hardware capable of doing so, I'm sure it will get implemented in many upcoming roms. 720p recording is just bad programming on HTC's fault. We will get it ironed out .

I tend to agree..unless it is a sensor limitation..obviously the soc is capable of it since the sensation does it very well..I believe most issues that ppl have with photos/videos is software related..I actually like the video quality that I achieve with my e3d..and sound recording is much improved over It's predecessor

I have a $99 point-n-shoot that does 720p video that mops the floor with what I can get from my E3D.
Considering it's a cellphone, yes it takes fantastic video. However if we are going to rationalize the video quality with the qualifier "for a cellphone" then wouldn't we do the same and just agree that 720p is enough "for a cellphone"?
I do a lot of video work at my job and one thing I have seen personally and from everyone that has to review and approve my work....most people won't notice a lower resolution but people will most certainly notice lower frame rate, especially below 24fps. Lower resolution with perfectly smooth video wins over a lot more people than a super sharp super high resolution video with less than ideal frame rate. I'd prefer someone gets a rock-solid 30fps fix in place before or instead of a 1080p recording resolution...
...but that's just me.

Oh I'm not.disagreeing with that..id much rather have a smooth 720 p video than a choppy 1080p. I dont think any phone does 1080p justice..I'm totally fine with 720 I was just commenting on the possibility of it being able to be done on our phones..imo 720p still needs Alot of work . Btw didn't u send u e3d back? Are u gonna get it back since root or are u hold out for the gs2
I agree id rather have smooth recording becore a higher choppy Resolution.

Yeah, I could only take 2 weeks of the EVEN WEAKER NS4G radio...I'm back...though SGS2 is still a possibility and the nPrime is for certain.
The 720P has really impressed me so far. I even tried it out at night a few times, including moving it with quick movements in my car, and I didn't see any blurring or chop. I did find out that every so often I might get some chop on playback, but it was due to a hanging app, and restarting the device solved that problem.
Wasn't 1080p advertised when not using 3d?

The Evo 4G+ Is practically the Evo3d and its got 1080p recording in its release specs..But so did our 3D before release.
I personally don't see the need for 1080p recording, the software sucks and doesn't even do 720p very good.I leave it on qHD resolution.

Hi all. I recently updated my international Atrix to Gingerbread using the CWM file provided by NFHimself. Unlocked BL and rooted it.
I decided to try the new 1080p video playback with a video captured from youtube through Keepvid but the playback is exactly the same as before update. Wht could be the problem? Probably in the video captured, right?
did you change the setting in the youtube app to play high quality on mobile?
You want to play 1080p o 720p on the Atrix, you search "handbrake converting" on these foruns. Even on GB update, the phone STILL cant play h.264 high profiles.
Sometimes, this makes me regret not waiting 2 months for the S2....
Patience young padawans. Fix your problems cm7 will.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
CM7 will allow us to watch high profile x264?
I think its a hardware limitation.
tegra 2 supports h.264 main profile fully but high profile only in 720 6 MB/s
That's what I thought.
People seem to think cm 7 will fix everything.
it's just another rom as far as I know. it may have better hardware support than most and more developed features, though.
Its not that big a deal. You're going to want to reencode anything 720 or 1080 anyway to save on storage. So just use baseline profile whilst you're at it.
I guess though it sucks if you want to use hdmi for a portable media centre

Pretty confused. I cannot select 4k, or at first anything above 720p until I installed the re installed Youtube\cleared it. Now I have the option of 1080p, but I am still missing the option of 4k as I have the Note 4, is this just a Youtube mobile app problem or what? Thanks in advance, loving the display but confused as the Youtube app just seems funky and won't allow anything above 1080p, so I have no way of really showing off the phones 4k feature in terms of video quality. Thanks in advance
Well the video has to have been uploaded at 4k quality... Try Rhett and Links "Vacation Song". I know that was uploaded in 4k.

There's no option in the YouTube app for 4k. You yourself a can shoot 4K video or view content that has been uploaded in 4K.

Oh I've tried a boat-load of 4k ones. On my PC there is an option for 4k with them, not on Note 4's Youtube app. I also at first was stuck with just up to 720p, I uninstalled Youtube and re-installed and now get 1080p, but still nothing like 1440p or 4k.
The 1080 option is a very recent addition to the Youtube app. (one of the last two updates.)
Which is ridiculous, since 1920x1200 screens on Android have been around since the Asus TF700T introduced them in July 2012. More than two bloody years ago.
2K will probably take them another two years to figure out, 4k at least four.
So no, the option does not exist.

According to what I was reading if you go back two Youtube updates you get 1440P, you just have to uninstall and manually install the old package. It was in there, as was 1080P before, they just took it out for some reason. Stupid considering all the 4k devices on the market now.

Dident you even consider that it wasnt stable enough and 1080p is back, at least here in Europe.
Still having this problem
Load 4k vids on YT and 1440 is the highest option
Anyone know if and when YT will include 4k as an option?
Also is there a site or resource that posts what youtube is working on/releasing/released/etc. ?
Like when app updates say what comes with the update and what's different. ..something like that for youtube android development
