Resetting the counter flashes - Galaxy Grand Prime General

hi guys..
After playing around with the device, rooteando and installing custom ROMs, we may have problems with factory warranty for having modified the original system. Thanks to Triangle Away application (valid for many devices from Samsung) can solve this problem. I will explain here how to use the application and thus reset its counter flashes.

What is the counter flashes?
By accessing our device in the download mode, we can prove that at the point called "Custom binary download" there is a cipher. This is the famous counter flashes indicating how many times installed a unofficial ROM. If this counter is not zero, we may have problems with the appliance manufacturer's warranty. Luckily there is an application for Samsung devices that can zero it, which is a good way to eliminate the trail of changes to which we submitted the OS.
In the image we see how the device has flashed 10 times
Triangle Away does not work with Android 4.3
First of all, I must warn you that this application does not work on devices with Android 4.3. The reason: the inclusion of Knox security software. This is a security system that allows you to use multiple user profiles in the same cell, allowing the separation of personal and professional settings, for example. Knox has a reader which recognizes changes and does not allow the restoration of the initial state of the device.
At the moment, there is no tool that reset the number of flashes of devices with Android 4.3, and hopefully the hacker community soon create a way to circumvent the Knox.
Using the Triangle Away?
The APK's Triangle Away Chainfire the application can be downloaded free from the site XDA Developers. Stay tuned for the list of compatible devices.
Using the Triangle Away carries risks for the device. In principle, however, it should not happen anything wrong, but still are not responsible for any problems arising from the process.
After installing the Triangle Away, we must give you the super user permissions and select the flash counter Reset option, which will reset the device, reset the counter flashes and eliminate the famous yellow triangle appears on the time flashing a kernel modified in our device (hence the name Triangle Away).
Steps to install the Triangle Away
1. Download the APK's Triangle Away and open it in the "Download" section located in the "My Files" folder.
2. When you open the app, it will ask to get root permissions. Accept by clicking "Grant".
3. He can ask for extras we download files, which should be done.
4. Make sure that the version of the device that appears on the screen is your version. This step is very important. If the versions do not match, you may damage your device to proceed.
5. When finished installing the files, the application will display a menu. Select the opçãp Reset Flash Counter. A danger sign will appear. Click "Continue."
6. The device will reboot and see the following screen:
7. To reset the timer, simply press the volume key up. To restart without resetting clicking on the volume down key. Do not press the button on / off under any circumstances. Then this window will appear indicating that the operation was successful:
8. This screen offers us two options: volume up to restart the device in normal mode or volume down to restart it in download mode. I chose the second opçãp to confirm that the counter flashes had been cleared, but the device was "thinking" without showing anything. I therefore recommend that the restart in normal mode, then turn it off to restart it in download mode (volume down + home button + button on / off). When you restart this way, the yellow triangle must have disappeared, and the counter flashes will be 0. As you can see in the picture below, the point "Custom binary download" My device, which previously indicated 10 now shows "No".
Important notice: I repeat that the application should not be used if your device is not in the compatible devices list and if you have Android 4.3.
You can Download here.
Please tell us in the comments if you have accomplished this process to reset your counter.:good:

S3 not reading external SD after upgrade also Tri away not working?

Hi I''ve done some hunting but cannot find any answers (apologies if there is).
This may be a newbie error so again apologies if I am just stupid.
I have a S3 on orange which I rooted using chainfire 6.2 tar via ODIN so I could get full use of Avast and all was fine until I plugged it into Kies and did the update Orange released a week or so ago (details in screen shot below) then a few days later it stopped recognising the external SD, I''ve tried 3 cards none work but are fine in my PC and Xoom.
To do the update I hid the root did the update then left it as was as thought stick to the stock working.
After a few factory re sets still nothing so got in contact with Orange who want the phone back as I'm the only person with this issue.
So then re rooted and downloaded Triangle away so I could reset the counter etc which it has except for removing the triangle???
Can anyone help as Orange are pestering for the phone and I know they'll discover I''ve been tinkering?
Can I just reflash the previous Orange ROM\firmware via ODIN to reset Status and get Tri away to work?

Hold up SGS3 does not have a triangle what phone have you .

download mode always shows a triangle.
The app's name is from the Galaxy S2 who showed a Triangle on boot when it was not on stock, the S3 does not.
All you have is make sure that in Download mode the counter shows 0 or none and the booted phone doesn't read "modified" in Settings->About phone
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Beg pardon thought user was referring to the triangle at boot not the download display .

How to uninstall
This is by no means an extensive guide for unrooting, but if you want to sell or warranty your device, I advise the following procedure:
- Use Triangle Away to reset the flash counters, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Boot into recovery and perform a wipe, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Go to SamMobile and get the stock firmware for your region
- Flash that stock firmware on your device
- Let Android boot, go through device setup (without doing any logins) until Android is fully usable again
- Reboot
- Wait at least 10 minutes
- Check Settings->About device->Status and make sure Device status is not "Modified"
- Perform another factory reset
- Boot into download mode and make sure the flash counter and system status are all set to official
Some of these steps may require further info, if you can't figure it out, do some more searching, or ask people who aren't me

Ahh right that all makes sense now.
All counters reset, status normal, binary no, all official, SD being read.
BUT now messaging doesn't work and it won't download the drivers to my PC.
At least now I can send it back.

How to hard reset the Galaxy S5 for better performance

Despite being one of the best Androids around right now, the Samsung Galaxy S5 could always do with some additional care. Performing a reset of your device regularly can help keep your smartphone bug-free and running smoothly for years to come. We'll show you how to get everything spick and span on your S5 in a jiffy by performing a complete data wipe, returning it to factory standard :good:

Why reset a new phone?
Good question. While it makes sense that older devices get bogged down over time, it may not seem necessary for a brand new phone. But the truth of the matter is that you can accumulate all sorts of junk in a very short time, either from apps, downloads, firmware updates or any number of other sources. It's an especially good habit to get into to do a reset every time you update your Android version to avoid the usual bugs and battery drain issues.
What to do first?
The absolute most important thing to do before performing a data wipe is backup, backup, backup. Even for something as seemingly straightforward as installing an over the air firmware update can cause problems that lead to data loss. I only need to remind you of the Android 4.3 update fiasco last year that left millions of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 owners with unusable phones for months. You have a few backup options:
Google backup – from within the settings menu you can head to the Backup and Restore section where you can set your backup options for Wi-Fi passwords, app data and other things to Google's servers. This is a great option and you can also check the box for automatic restore.
App backup – you can also grab an app from the Play Store that will do a backup for you. Some of these apps, like Titanium Backup, require root. Others, like Carbon Backup, can do a full Carbon backup without root by using your desktop.
The old-fashioned way – literally email yourself important things from your phone, transfer them to your computer with a USB cable, shift them to your microSD card and remove it before proceeding: all of these are perfectly fine albeit mildly paranoid things to do. But it only takes one major mess up to make it all seem worthwhile.
How to reset the Galaxy S5
Once you've backed all your essential apps, data, and so on (make sure you do it!) you're good to proceed. I'll remind you again: this process wipes all data from your device and leaves it as funky fresh as the day you unboxed it.
Option 1 – keypad
From the dialer you can simply enter the following code to do a factory reset: *2767*3855# but this doesn't work on every handset (it didn't work for me on our Galaxy S5, for example)
Option 2 – settings menu
The simplest way is to head back to the Backup and Restore section of the settings menu and look at the bottom for the Factory Data Reset section. Tap this and proceed through the warnings then sit back and enjoy a clean phone once it reboots.
Option 3 – hardware buttons
Maybe your phone is stuck in a bootloop (where you can't get past the Samsung logo when starting) or the display won't wake up or you've broken your screen. You can still perform a reset by using the physical buttons.
1. Turn your Galaxy S5 off.
2. Press and hold the Power button, Volume Up button and Home key. You'll see a blue notification in the top left of the screen and then an animated Android image until you are brought to the recovery menu.
3. It's always a good idea to clear the cache when doing a reset as well (especially when doing an update) to avoid any issues with app data on new Android versions. Use the volume down button to scroll to ''Wipe cache partition'' and hit Power button to select. You'll see a notification in the bottom left in yellow that says it has completed.:fingers-crossed:
4. Use the volume up button to scroll to ''Wipe data/Factory reset'' and hit that Power button again. Scroll down on the next screen to ''Yes'' and away you go. You'll get the same completed notification in yellow at the bottom and you can then scroll to ''Reboot system now'' and that's it: set up your Galaxy S5 from scratch and restore your apps and data.
How often do you do a reset? What are the main problems you notice after updates ? Post In Comments :highfive:

[Q] Soft Bricked Nexus 4

Hi there, first of all I need to say that I'm sorry if I started this topic in the wrong section, second of all sorry for my english. Hope that I will be undrestood.
On my Nexus 4, I was running CM 11 custom ROM, and I've heard about the brand new one named Lollipop 5.0 . I've found Mako build for that new ROM and tryed to flash it via Rom Manager (Play Store). It runned smoth without any issues even if it's just an alpha release. But one day I've checked my storage tab, seen there that almost half of entire memory it was full, and I didn't had than just a few low space requiered apps. I tough about it and I realised that Lollipop ROM was installed OVER CM 11, of course not the ROM by itself but even if it wiped all data before to install the Lollipop, all junk stuff from CM 11 remain there.
So i wanted to reinstall a fresh copy of that Lollypop by using Nexus Toolkit.
Things would have been fine if my computer suddenly restarted while processing the flashing ROM, right after it wiped everything or something like that. Bad luck, huh?
So now I've got a soft bricked Nexus 4, where bootloader apparently still works but without recovery wich now it's replaced by and android dead icon and over that big red triangle, and when pressing the correct combination of volume + power buttons should give me fastboot, instead of that I'm stuck on "Download Mode". One more thing I forgot to mention, If I'll boot up device and run straight without pressing nothing, it will pop out the Google loading screen and it will stuck there, doing nothing.

I've read many threads about how to unbrick devices. Still got no answer because they refer at other soft brick posibilities, that includes pushing backups or what requires to simply flash them by fastboot or ADB, the problem here is that those posibilities will be great if I CAN get acces to my phone, what that means is I cannot run "USB debugging" to get my device being recognized by computer in this dead stage. Even my drivers are installed and "Download Mode" is active where should, as I read, grant me the acces to device even if it's not waked up completely. And second option to unbrick it leads me to the recovery mode (wich is dead) and restore from there a previous backup, and even if I had access to it, I DON'T have a backup.
So the big question for you guys about this annoying mishap: "Is there still a possibility to push files from computer to device, or I need to visit an authorized service?"
Thank you in advance. Peace.

[GUIDE] Firmware (5.1.1) + Root + TWRP (SM-G925F + Others)

Welcome.
After two days of sweating trying to understand all the guides and tricks as a complete newbie, I realized that some things are easier than they seem but requires certain knowledge to pull off.
I softbricked my device after my first attempt of rooting but after two days total, I managed to get everything working. The point of this guide is to be as thorough as possible because a lot of the guides out there, no matter how well they were made, some things still did not make sense to me as a newbie and I intend to make it a lot clearer in this guide.
Please understand that my knowledge is very limited, but I am going to explain very thoroughly step-by-step how I managed to update my firmware using Odin, Uni root and TWRP. I will also do a brief explanation of how to use TWRP to install a ROM as that was my goal from the beginning.
Note: I can only assure you that this worked for me with the firmware version, root and TWRP that I used. I cannot guarantee that this will work for you at all, and you should make sure to read and understand the risks about flashing and rooting your device. I take no responsibility if you brick your device, please continue at your own risk. Also note that you may or may not lose your data depending on what you do so I suggest you backup all your files somewhere else if you want to save your data. YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY USING THIS METHOD.
Firmware
It is important that you have a supported firmware for whatever root you are chosing. I have a SM-G925F and here is the link to all the newest firmwares.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G925F/
If you have a different model, you can change the last section of the link "SM-G925F" to whatever model you have, for example ".../database/SM-G925T/".
For this guide I am using 5.1.1 G925FXXU3COI9 (Sweden).

Drivers & Odin
Download and install the necessary drivers for your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge provided in the link below.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jze4q58cspwnjwh/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.zip?dl=1
Download latest version of Odin provided in the link below.
http://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.10.7.zip
Testing your connection/Debug mode (MANDATORY)
Enter settings on your device, scroll to the bottom and chose "About device".
Then tap on Build number until you have unlocked "Developer options".
Go back a step and you should now be able to see "Developer options". Enter it and find "USB Debugging". Activate it.
Connect your device to your PC. If this is your first time doing it you will get prompted on your device to allow your PC access. Please tick the box and allow it. Now start Odin and make sure you have a COM connection.
We now know that your device has a connection with your PC and can start the firmware flash.
Unlocking Bootloader
If your bootloader is locked, you should be able to see a setting in "Developer options" that can be called "OEM Unlocked", "Unlock OEM" and so forth. You will want to make sure that your OEM is unlocked, otherwise you will most certainly fail. The most common question for bootloaders are the ones who can't find this setting and what that means. If you can't find the OEM Unlock setting, then your bootloader is probably already unlocked. And I can confirm this as I did not have this setting and have a perfectly working 5.1.1 rooted with custom ROM.
Flashing firmware
Make sure you have enough battery, I usually keep my phone around at least 80% when flashing.
Turn off your device completely, "Power off". Now hold Volume Down + Home button + Power button until you get a screen with "Warning". Click 'Volume Up' to enter "Download mode". Make sure Odin finds your device while in "Download mode" by checking the COM connection.
Now unpack the firmware you downloaded. You should now have a "FIRMWAREVERSION".tar.md5 file.
Open Odin, click the "AP" button and navigate to the "FIRMWAREVERSION".tar.md5 file you just unpacked. Please allow Odin to load the file and wait until the log says "<OSM> Leave CS..".
You can now click "Start" and let Odin write all the files. Do now touch anything during this process. When it is done, if you have done everything correctly, it should become green and say "PASS!". At this point you have successfully flashed the firmware to your device.
Rooting
Make sure you have a supported firmware before attempting to root. If you have flashed your device accordingly, this root should work perfectly. Make sure your device is supported and then download the Unikernel "ODIN FLASHABLE".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/samsung-galaxy-s-6--s-6-edge-unified-development/kernel-stockmod-kernel-t3100395
We are now going to do the exact same process as above, but this time using a different file. Put your phone in "Download mode", connect it to your PC and make sure you can see the connection in Odin. Click the button "AP" in Odin and navigate to the Unikernel.tar file.
Click start and wait for Odin to complete the process. It should become green and say "PASS!".
Your device will reboot and you should now be rooted if you have done everything correctly.
TWRP
TWRP is a custom type of recovery that can be used to do a lot of things. Please read about TWRP here: https://twrp.me/about/
To install TWRP with Odin, your device needs to be rooted. Here is how you do it.
First, make sure you download the supported version for your device from the link provided below.
http://galaxys6root.highonandroid.com/cwmtwrp-recovery/
I have a SM-G925F and I downloaded the .tar file shown on the picture below.
Again, repeating the steps from above. Put your device in "Download mode", connect it to your PC and check the connection in Odin.
Click "Start" and wait for the process to "PASS!". You should now have TWRP Recovery installed properly.
To access TWRP enter your phone into "Recovery mode". You do this by turning off your device completely and starting it through Volume Up + Home button + Power button. From here, you can do a lot of things but most importantly you can install custom ROMs. Always make sure to check the installation guide for the ROM you want to install but basically you copy the ROM to your phone memory, chose "Install" in TWRP and navigate to the ROM.
I hope this helps people who are impatient to learn all the details and just want to be a user. The problem with this is that if something goes wrong, you might not have the knowledge to fix your problem instantly and might have to wait for responses on the forums. Usually if your phone is Softbricked or stuck in a bootloop, you can enter "Download mode" and flash a suitable firmware from the links provided. Please let me know if you still have questions and/or don't understand some of the steps and I will adjust accordingly. Good luck!

The Device starts again
Install OFW
Unfortunetly the Unblock Bootloader APK from Asus ended up with an error , i tried a lot with adb install *.apk and so on, but nothing worked out... Therefore i installed the latest OFW
You need an SD-Card and the latest Version (https://www.asus.com/Tablets/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_FHD_10_ME302KL/HelpDesk_Download/)
-> For me it is the "ASUS MEMo Pad FHD 10 LTE Firmware: V10.10.3.39 Only for WW SKU (Android 4.2.2)"
Copy the unzipped zip (you will see what i mean) to the SD-Card and unname it to "APQ8064_SDUPDATE.zip"
Insert the micro SD card into the tablet.
Turn off the tablet.
Press and hold Volume Up + Power Key, wait until the bootloader logo appears, and then the FW update process begins. (if this don´t work out try the APK "Recovery Reboot")
After the completion the device will automatically reboot.
Perform the factory data reset.
IUnlock Bootloader with the official APK

And it helped?
My advice to anyone trying to revive this old tablet is to just buy a new one, no matter what the cost and you will come out ahead in comparison to time wasted trying to resurrect this old beast. Still if you are like me and perhaps when you arrive here are "already in way too deep", here are some hints to get you going. I'm 2 weeks into playing with this thing but making good progress. Wishing I'd just bought a new one but since I usually forget everything I learned dealing with ROM builds a few weeks after I set it aside,I can't say I learned a valuable lesson so I'm not sure of the benefit.
First of all, to ensure you don't brick this thing, be sure to RESTORE TO FACTORY before unlocking. Then once set to factory defaults and you are configuring it anew again, when you get to the screen asking to sign into Google, then don't do it because if you do, when you run the unlock routine it will go into a loop asking for your Google ID and password. Then when you sideload in the Assus unlock app and also accept any upgrades that Asus provides if at this point you have never logged into Google, the only requirement of this unlock routine is that you have a working wifi accessed so you will never get into the Google ID loop if you don't have a Google sign-in account set up.
So, I've loaded every version, evaluated them and rejected all but 14.1 due to some quirk or another. My mistake was loading multiple zips after the unnlock (including Gapps up front, a no-no in my opinion) and this has left me yet to load any of the Gappas package yet, discovering that is what gave me my black screen initially. I now have a full suite of mapping software loaded and working plus many basic language tools and other apps that support traveling and using this device as a guide. I have side loaded about 25 apps and all is well so far without the play store. I have the GPS working (couldn't get it to work in 13.x and 15.x versions) and additionally I was able to load Magisk systemless, Xposed V25 systemless, XprivacyLUA and a long list of Xposed modules that all work perfectly, plus I have a functional root. I haven't tried any super secure apps like banking because I haven't even set up playstore. So right now I have a great functioning device that is not so Googled-up. I am not sure if I will load the 7.1 Gapps at this point now but I plan to get everything working on this device I can without Google Playstore and the other Google suite and see just how far I can get without Google apps. I do miss the voice typing, however.
Another thing that will get you confused with this tablet is the first time after flashing it with the TWRP recovery and just as you enter fastboot reboot on your computer and press the enter key for the very first time, you have to hold in the power button and up-volume button on the tablet at the same time you reboot with fastboot and if you don't when you reboot after the flash of the new recovery, the stock ROM will revert the TWRP recovery.img back to stock. I know, it sounds hard to believe but if you flash it and don't get the TWRP menu on the next recovery boot, this is what happened.
