[Q] Recommended ROM? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I haven't been keeping up to date with all the roms/kernels out there for my S5 as I've been stock+root since I got the phone, but lately have been running into some flaky issues with staying connected and weird power drains, so it's about time to start fresh with a build that has all the latest patches applied to it in addition one with less bloat. TMobile has been pretty good about keeping the bloat down, but there's still some things that could go away.
So overall, what would you guys recommend for good battery life, stability, smoothness, and some cool customization options? I don't need to overclock or anything, those days are long gone as the phones are fast enough as-is, so overclocking or some advance kernel tweaking is not needed. CPU governors, battery options, etc are always welcome additions to any kernel though.
So what are your recommendations, and thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat. Am setting up an S5 for a relative. There's no root for 5.1.1 yet, and 5.0 seems to be weak on battery vs. 4.4.2? Might simply be the reversion to a predominantly white theme vs. 4.4.2's black in TW. Also, the latest 4.4.2, NK2, doesn't seem well represented in custom ROMs. The Sickness has a 4.4.2 NH5 ROM, but that's one iteration behind NK2, and the theme-ing leaves a lot to be desired for those looking for a little more stock-ish appearance. Might end up using that until some 5.1.1 customs with root come along and try to find a way to re-theme it.

Best GSM ROM

Hey fellow Evo3d-owners!
I noticed that there's a lot of ROMs for the CDMA EVOs, and the selection for GSM EVOs is a little more thin...
But which GSM ROM is the best in your opinion, and which should I try out?
I'm pretty satisfied with the batterylife on the stock-ROM, which ROM has the best batterylife?
And finally: I'm pretty happy with the performance of the stock ROM. Are all of the custom ROMs as fast and smooth as the stock?
Thanks!
(If I'm so happy sith the stock ROM, why would I want to change the ROM, you might ask? My main reasons are: CRT animation (lol!) and to get rid of the Rogers intro crap and apps. Also: Even though I'm happy with how smooth it is, it scores pretty low on all the benchmarks, so I'm curious whether a custom ROM might get even better performance)
I tried all the GSM ROMs, they are all good but I do get ramdon freeze from time to time.
It never happened with stock rom., so if I were you I will stick with stock untill something more exciting coming out.

[Q] So, what's the most stable custom ROM out there for the Verizon S4?

Basically, I got my S4 yesterday, and I went ahead and quickly rooted it.
Now, the thing is ALL THAT VERIZON AND SAMSUNG BLOAT is so irritating. I wanna get a custom rom and just use it as a barebones android device. I don't really need all those samsung features.
So I ask you guys, what is the most stable, bug-free rom out there. I'm not that into touchwizz and would prefer stock android, but if CM10 or AOKP is buggier than a debloated touchwizz rom, I'd much rather live with touchwizz. I have some complaints on this phone such as battery life and performance, and would like a rom that adresses those, but stability will always come first for me.
So again, I want a ROM with these features (in order of importance)
-Stability (I need all basic stuff, GPS, WiFi, Data, Bluetooth to work 100%; I could go without NFC or whatever)
-Debloated (no verizon crap on it, perferbally no samsung stuff on it, but it CAN stay on there)
-Battery Life (I am a power user, and I cannot get by a full day...it IS a bit dissapointing).
-Performance (performance is actually alright, but there's still little hitches here and there which should not happen considering the specs of this phone, yeah?)
Anyone?! ;~;
In my opinion...CleanROM is the way to go. I have tried most the others. I like that CleanROM is very stock feeling but is extremely quick and stable. Flash CleanROM and then flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42136564
You will be good to go.
im enjoying jelly beans right now
I'd second the recommend for CleanROM. I have NOT used it, but based on your requirements, it seems to fit best. It is heavily de-bloated and optimized, and it has just the minimum amount of tweaks/UI changes. Very solid reviews for most TW roms, so you probably can't go wrong. I'd stay clear of AOSP right now if you want/need everything 100% functional. Each has its quirks, but they're all getting better as we speak.

[Q] Recommended ROMs/Kernels for Battery Life and Configurability

OK, I realize that everyone has a different idea of the best ROM and/or kernel, and I fully expect to try out a few different ones to see which is best for me. However, I am hoping that I won't be irritating anyone by asking for suggestions on where to start. I don't need a lot of extra features, but I do like to be able to configure as many settings as possible--that is the main reason I chose Android in the first place. I also want to maximize battery life. Based on my experience with SlimBean on the Nexus S, it and SlimKat will be definite contenders, but which others should I consider? And are there any specific kernels I should look at? It will be a couple of weeks before my LGOG arrives, so there should be fairly stable 4.4.2 based ROMs by then, but I don't mind using 4.3 ROMs if they will provide better performance. I have been using a Galaxy S II for the last several months, where NeatROM is the only real choice if you want good battery life, so I'm a bit out of the loop.
I have been having a similar issue with trying to maximize performance and battery life at the same time. I have found that using android 4.3 really does make a huge difference in battery life and it makes all the animations, I think, look more fluid. Now as Kernels go, I cannot recomend one in particular, but look for one with eco mode or just change your processor setting with Trickster mod. I use only 2 cores, the ondemand governor, and keep my frequencies between 1026000 and 1512000. Hopefully this helps.

[Q] need help picking a new rom

I need help deciding on a cm/aosp/aokp based rom.
Coming from ViperOne 4.3 (4.4 kitkat) and loving the amazing amount of customization options.
I love non-sense roms with a burning passion, as well. Unfortunately, PAC (my favorite in terms of customization options) was my favorite until they decided not to develop for 4.4. So, I don't want to waste time trying the 6-10 different aosp/aokp/cm/paranoidandroid roms.
I am a power user. Battery life isn't a big deal for me, aside from the worry of destroying my built in battery, so preferably nothing with outrageous drain issues.
I'd appreciate something that supports the ElementalX kernel, since I don't want to give that up.
The more customization available, the better.
You should Really try SlimKat if you haven't already. I had a lot of fun with that one and it didn't give me any problems at all. Fast and even though it's in its first stages it worked pretty good IMO

[Q] Stock Touchwiz vs Rom (CM, MIUI)

I was wondering about the pros and cons of each. For example, right now I'm running MIUI, and it has the best experience of any rom I've used (I've been using MIUI since GB on my N1 - only recently upgraded to the GSIII). But, I really like the way Milk Music looks, and I can only get that particular app if I'm running a near-stock touchwiz based rom.
I was wondering if there was a way to get the best of both worlds? Or if I should stay away from stock entirely, or if there are any other benefits I'm missing!
Hello !
I believe this is one of the hardest question to reply ever "stock or aosp/aokp/miui".
For me, everything depends on what you want to do with your phone. Exellent battery life would be stock rom, but more smoothness would be cm, for exemple.

It's mostly about appearance and functionality for me. I'm pretty good on battery life, and have a battery backup if needed. I love how clean MIUI looks. It's always looked obsessively clean, and I love it for that. It also lets me arrange my status bar into the iOS style (I like the battery on one side, signal on the other - clock in the middle).
MIUI with Aviate as my launcher seems to work wonders, and MIUI has a lot of great features - built in data monitor, app and trash cleaners, just a lot of great things to keep the phone running smooth.
But I want the samsung support as well. I like a lot of the touchwiz stuff (minus the actual launcher), and I enjoy having my data backed up with them (MIUI backs up my data, but not all of it, really). And I am absurdly interested in the Milk Music app. But when you look at stock/near-stock touchwiz based roms that have the samsung support and the camera app, and the like, you're stuck with the stock UI as well. Which is nice, mind you - leaps and bounds better than it was in previous versions, but still leaps and bounds behind the work that MIUI has done to give it the smooth feel I've come to expect.
If only there was a way to get the Samsung Framework on MIUI, I think all my problems would be solved.
I never tried MIUI, because I don't really fancy the iOS style..
I think, the perfect rom would be a mix of CM, stock rom, and maybe MIUI too, but I believe that's impossible to make.. :/
