I installed CM 12.1 and Netflix won't work. I searched, and searched and searched the thread about Netflix, but all I see is talk about "Netflix hack version 10." Then I found this post by Lysergic Acid.
It says, "Updated Netflix hack to version 10." I'm confused. When I flashed the ROM, it didn't have Netflix on it. So I downloaded Netflix from the Play Store, and it doesn't work. The video just loads forever. It never plays. I read that other Lollipop ROM's for the GT-i9100 warned that Netflix doesn't work with them. I can't have this ROM if Netflix doesn't work!!! So I was hoping Netflix would work with it. Someone please help and clarify how I can download the "Netflix hack." I just want Netflix to work.
I have no idea what I'm looking for. I tried both of these apk's and neither one works. I just get a black screen when I try to open Netflix (the apk downloaded in the link I just provided), and it hangs there forever. Please... someone tells me where to get a working version of Netflix!

The netflix hack is still included. Probably, it could be android 5.1's fallacy. You can try an alternative method, though. Just install an older version of netflix and check if that works. If it doesn't, then it assures that the error is related to the new android version.
Regards.
"The netflix hack is still included."
Included in what? I don't understand. Included in the ROM? If so, where is it? Why is it not there? Why is there all this talk about a hack version which indicates that others who have CM 12.1 also have Netflix working?
I tried downloading old versions of Netflix and I got the same issue (video forever loads, but never plays). I would have never installed CM 12.1 if I knew I couldn't get Netflix working. WHY ARE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT A NETFLIX VERSION 10 HACK?! Is Netflix working on their phones installed with CM 12.1? I asked on that thread, but my question was just ignored.
Please help! I *need* Netflix. I give the phone to my 3 year old daughter so she can watch stuff on it. Kodi is too confusing for her to use and navigate through.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you are flashing the latest lollipop roms, then you have to expect bugs. If netflix is so important I would recommend going back to the last stable rom you used with netflix and keep an eye on the progress on the development. When the issues are fixed you can then flash with confidence. Nobody who expects everything to work should be flashing alpha and beta builds and works in progress
Then the thread lies. Because people there supposedly have Netflix working, I read that BEFORE I FLASHED THE ROM. They made it seem as if Netflix was included in the ROM. It was misleading.
I have written on the thread three times in between a bunch of chatter, and I'm still continuing to be ignored for a simple answer. If the answer is somehow "No, there is no way to have Netflix," then I can be on my merry way and flash Kitkat again. But instead, I get no answer. You would think something like that would be in the FAQ, like all the other Lollipop custom ROM's, but no.

I understand your frustration, but I doubt whether too many people are worried about netflix on an s2. If anyone had similar experiences or had found a way for it to work you would have had a reply. There is no point spamming a thread because you don't get any responses; if I think I can help anyone I will answer, if I cant I don't answer. And for the record no-one is lying, no-one promised it would work. The developer(s) included a hack that they thought would work. They don't rigorously check every feature and fix they include, they rely on us testers to report anything not working and they try their best in their free time to get everything working. As I said in the last post if you expect everthing to work without problems, go to an older trusted build that is no longer in alpha/beta stages and wait for these ones to be developed

Thanks, although it's in Bulgarian . Chrome/Google translate is not very good and the steps seem critical. If you know Bulgarian, would you please be so kind to do a succinct step by step English translation for everyone here?

what is ur knox status now ?
Can return to kitkat does not alter the knox is 0x0
So this works I take it? I'm on 5.0.2 outta the box bit want 4.4.4. People here have flashed this and booted up fine afterwards?
Sent from my SM-A500FU
Can I just flash kk firmware then factory reset and all be good?
I have tried this method, and works. A500FU. For 4.4.4, you can root with kingroot, and install viper4android and xposed without modifying the recovery, and it does not trip knox.
I needed to remain warranty. I know there is a knox reset methods, but I am not sure it can not be detected during repair. As I have written, I needed Xposed and Viper4Android. On Android 4, they can be installed as a normal apk, not needed custom recovery, which is tripping knox and voids warranty. As far as I know, they can only be installed through custom recovery on higher Android versions.
Just downloaded a 358mo update on G850F unbranded France
So?
& info
any improvements?
Any changes..??
Just had the update too. I didn't notice anything going better or wrong since this morning.
The Samsung app 'Smart Manager' appeared on my home screen.
I also had the update notification today. Here's the changelog on the installation screen :
- Security breach fix
- Smart Manager function
- General performance improvement
- Battery life optimisation
- Device security improvement
Update also available in Portugal (358,35MB)
Still Android v5.0.2.
The Smart Manager has a device security function provided by Intel Security (a kind of anti-virus that searches for potential threats). Also a new function "Samsung My Knox" that allows to create secure workspaces (I don't know what it does, didn't installed).
Tried to root it?
Can it be rooted with KingRoot?

Where can i download and install it with my pc ?
I rarely update. I'm still on 5.0.2 and the kernal is from august....that was the last update I did. I never see any point in it. And everything runs fine.
The new update is orobably a security update that fixes StageFright exploit.

20160118 PHN Update
Bringing my cents to the table.
Last night i updated to this latest version:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/64361/G850FXXU2COL1_G850FPHN2COL1_PHN/
Got it rooted with CF-Autoroot.
When i tried to restore the backup taken with Titanium backup it got hung for several hours at 0%.
Should someone encounter similar behavior the solution is to disable "Mount namespace separation" in SuperSU.
Hope this helps to someone. I have spent 2 very nervous hours fuguring this one out
You managed to root it with CF-Autoroot? It's a pretty new firmware I see, that is great news! I only managed to root the new roms by using an older kernel!

the trick is to use the zip file from chainfire's web site. it contains Odin and more importantly the .ini file especially modified for it's root package.
basically there is absolutely no reason why it should not work regardless the kernell
// sorry for my English, I have the mother of all hangovers today
Believe me I've tried that with COI3 variant and at that moment in time it didn't worked, 2-3 months ago.
Later edit: The process involved flashing an older kernel then simply flashing SuperSU. I've put a link in my signature.

So I got a Max 2 x829 which came with a case. It's running Android 6.0.1. It fails SafetyNet CTS and Basic Integrity, so does not run Pokemon Go. Is this expected, or did a reseller add malware on the device?
Mine suffers from the same problem. Where did you buy yours?
I wouldn't put much stock in safety net.

What do you mean? Not passing SafetyNet means not being able to play/download some of the best games on the PlayStore. I think it's relevant.
Same here. I'm using cuoco92 ROM. I tried safety net that comes with magisk manager, but it doesn't work. I really doubt that there is malware installed, but I've no idea why it fails...maybe because ROM is rooted?!
Let me think about this... Most people have buy this device from a international reseller shop instead of the official Leeco store or online shop. Makes sense cause I'm pretty sure that most of the users here on the board are not living in China or India.
Every online shop is installing a custom ROM to make sure that as many languages as possible are supported. The most installed "Shop-Rom" is couco92...
As far as we know every Android device that is able to run a custom ROM needs an opened bootloader and especially couco92 comes with the ability to run SuperSU and Root!
If you just search Google for "SafetyNet" you find an official statement why it's not possible to run Banking or
Pay-Apps and why there's no possibility to run games like Pokemon go on rooted devices!!!
So let me think again about this...
Sorry guys but I also don't understand why the hell this device isn't able to pass the SafteyNet check! It must be because of malware or something like this!!!
Sorry for being so damn ironic! Hopefully it's self explaining why I wrote a post like this and you are able to get the informations you are looking for from the text...
Thanks for the answer, albeit the unnecessary sarcasm. Assuming that's true (which sounds quite reasonable) would the original ROM fix the problem? is the original ROM maybe supporting english language? And could anyone confirm such ROM does indeed pass SafetyNet checks? Thanks!
So ended up flashing the last Indian stock ROM. That solved the "basic integrity" check and now I can download from Play Store apps not previously visible. However, still does not pass the CTS check.
I believe such checks are over exaggerated, hackers can hack strongly locked iPhones or anything similar, so it doesn't matter CTS pass or fail as long as you keep your phone fully scanned with reasonable antivirus/security apps.
I think thats because your phone has bootloader unlocked.
This is the reason:
Devices that ship with Google's Play Store and other apps installed must pass Google's Android “Compatibility Test Suite”. Rooting a device or installing a custom ROM prevents a device from being “CTS Compatible”. This is how the SafetyNet API can tell if you're rooted–it merely checks for CTS compatibility. Similarly, if you get an Android device that never came with Google's apps–like one of those $20 tablets shipped direct from a factory in China–it won't be considered “CTS compatible” at all, even if you haven't rooted it.

Heyyo, use the official LineageOS MM ROM. It passes safety net. There's some other ROMs but I'm not sure. I'll try it on Mokee MM build and report back.
RR N fails Safety Net as it is pre rooted and some other tweaks that cause it to fail.
Oh, another reason why it can fail safety net is modem firmware. You might have to revert to a Chinese or Indian or international modem firmware. I don't think developer firmware works for SafetyNet

I can't pass SafetyNet with latest (04/29) LineageOS 13 nightly. I tried with Chinese 23S modem, wipe everything except Internal Storage, and install Open GApps Pico. I still get CTS Profile Mismatch. I tried with it as my Internal ROM under MultiROM, which I believe should be OK. I think it's expected to fail if installed as a Secondary. In any case, I have no particular reason I need to pass SafetyNet, I just thought I'd try. I've read that on newer Android devices, an unlocked bootloader can cause SafetyNet to fail (unless kernel is patched). I didn't try re-locking my bootloader so that could be it.
Heyyo, hmm well I tried ASOP based DU rom but it failed too but then again I'm using MultiRom as well so I'm unsure if that messes with it since it's a custom boot.img which I think is part of the SafetyNet check...
With all pie ROM coming in XDA, I picked up my favorite phone again and flash those rom. It went mostly fine, but then I realized that I can't use Netflix (even with older apk).
After installing DRM Info apps, I found that I have unknown Widevine CDM, so it is not even Widevine L3. I expected that I will miss Widevine L1 after bootloader unlock, but I don't think that I will not have any Widevine CDM. I tried several ROM including stock rom, but it won't restore my Widevine CDM.
To be honest I am not sure since when I lost Widevine CDM, but maybe this is a known issue, or anybody else has this experience? I tried to search Widevine in this Troubleshooting forum but can't find anything yet.
Thanks !
Hello!, I see the same issue on all PIE ROMs I tested, the solution i found to have Widevine L3, is after you flash the ROM, flash the RZ Kernel.
But if you have any exFAT card or USB you want to use with Z2 with this kernel, the OS won't recognize the storage, because the lack of support of the exFAT FS on the RZ Kernel.

Thanks, WIdevine L3 worked after flashing RZ Kernel. Seems SELinux is not enforced for RZ, but it's fine for me as this is not my main phone currently (although with Pie ROM, I am really tempted to use it again daily )
Before reading your solution, my workaround is using patched Netflix apk that floating around in XDA and will force HD streaming , but the version is a bit old.
So thanks for your help !!
