Hard Reset on Boot - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased a cheap tablet from Walmart to play around for $19. I used Kinko Root but since I've done this, every boot-up is a hard reset. I have since removed Kinko boot but it continues. Any ideas?
Factory Reset doesn't resolve the problem either.
Model: dpa23d-4s

What's your interpretation for Hard Reset? Going back to factory settings?

That is correct. Each time I reboot or power off/on it returns to the sign up for a new Google account, select time zone, etc.

I guess there's something going on with the Kinko-root still... Might have changed some files, like the Mounting option for your Data and such... Try flashing stock ROM over your current one...

Did someone found a solution,
I have the same problem... and cannot find the stock ROM on the internet...

It has to be software related, i don't think any wrong configuration in hardware could do this. So i'm guessing there's a problem with the system mounting or such, could you provide me a log showing what happens?

tern off - device.
hold vol up+home+power >>>>wipe everything..
after wipe., restart the phone...and you will get clean Rom like first time
you can delete your nondroid back up (if you forgot the password), make new one again.
tried wiping through CWM no dice, flashed back to generic rom, tried to wipe it through there then it asks me for my password gg.

come on man !!
in recovery:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe chache partition
go to advenced:
wipe dalvik cache
wipe battery stats
restart phone, and wait until is load.
People have reported that you can't remove the password by doing a factory reset. I was quite surprised by this myself, but have found a way to do it. I've never forgotten my password (I have a pattern, rather than a pin/password), but I've flashed a few kernels and have noticed that whatever pattern I use will work, until I set it again.
Try flashing a new kernel and see if that helps. Like I said, I use a pattern so I don't know if it will work for a pin or password.
Good luck mate

Tried that dont work only way i can get into my phone is to flash cm7 ! For some reason that rom dont see the password from fresh ?!? only thing ive not done is flashed odin and re partioned ?!?
The lock passwords, pins, and patterns are saved on the /efs partition which is not touched during flashing. That is why flashing is not fixing anything
CM7 would bypass it since it uses the original Android lock setup not the Samsung modified.

stock recovery password

Just ran into a problem with enterring stock recovery and it asking for a password. I was trying to do a factory reset, and was not able to boot the phone.
Was trying to go back to stock and reroot to try and solve a problem, and ran into this error. Solution was to get into download mode again, rerun the "return to stock" software, and then reroot and install a custom kernel, and then do a factory reset.
I'm not exactly sure what caused the issue, and I think if I ever decide to do this again, I will factory reset first, then flash the "return to stock" software.
It was very odd, and I'm glad I was able to get around it and get my phone working again.
Um, ok... so whats the point of this?
I think, but I'm not sure, the point may be that I need to add an extra item to my return-to-stock documentation - if you're running device encryption, you need to wipe BEFORE returning to stock.
I think it's silly that stock recovery won't let you wipe without a password though, since usually wiping is the desired end result of a security error.

I had a pattern code set. There would be no way to enter that into a keyboard, so I'm not sure what password the software would want me to enter. A quick search on here showed someone kept re-entering the wrong password and it would eventually wipe the phone anyway.
I guess any type of password should be turned off before attempting to return to stock.

I didnt know anything needed to be discussed after reading your OP. You had an issue and you got around your issue. If it is something that needs to be documented in the return-to-stock package, it could have been brought up in that thread.

[Q] Force Close Loop. How can I fix this?

I haven't downloaded anything recently, I literally just picked up my phone after I woke up and I got a message saying "the application tasks provider has stopped working unexpectedly" and it gives me the option to force close. When I close it, a similar message pops up for email, messaging, social hub, tw launcher, facebook and it keeps going on and on without giving me a chance to use the phone. Do you guys know what I can do? I would be extremely grateful if you could help me out.

Bwahahahaa ;-) Gold.
Yes i've tried that. I've take the battery pack, memory card and sim card out, then replaced them but the loop keeps occuring. It's gotta be more of a software issue and that's why I need your help.
You haven't told us anything whatsoever about your setup/rom/kernel/etc. We're not mind readers
Try a factory reset in the first instance.
If you're running anything other than stock firmware, go back to stock firmware.
i recomendeed to change your rom..
i think that is a crush from your system, mate..
About 4 months ago I had exactly the same problem.
Is there Debugging-Mode enabled in you're phone?
Is you're phone rooted?
Try to take out only the SIM Card and then connect it to you're PC. Then turn the S2 on and try to backup all you're data.
If you're phone is rooted, try to boot up in CWM Recovery Mode and go to "advanced" and then "Fix Permissions". It shuold solve you're problem.
If you're phone isn't rooted, then you have to flash a stock or custom ROM.

I know about technology but not like this. I have no idea what debugging mode/rooted or cwm recovery is. Any chance of explaining it to me in really, REALLY easy terms?
Sorry about my lack of knowledge guys, but I wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time out to give me a hand.
1. Try wiping all data (fixed when i had the problem)
1. U need a kernel with CWM recovery (recommend siyah kernel)
2. Install with odin look on these forums for odin dont remember link
3. go to recovery (vol up+home button+power) and wipe data/cache (wipes everything apps, passwords, etc)
4. Try now if works click the thanks button

No problem man
Okay...when you have root permissions on youre phone you can write in system files and do other administrative work.
You can root youre phone by flashing a rooted kernel. The kernel is something like the heart of youre Android OS. You have to know some facts about youre S2, to root it successfully.
You have to know which Kernel version is installed at the moment. This information you can find in Settings -> About Phone -> Kernel Version (or something like that...my S2 is in German ). But when youre phone is bricked or youre system is damaged, its really hard or impossible to find out the kernel version. I think you won't be able to root it successfully :-(
So the only one possibillity to rescue youre S2 is, to flash a new firmware.

Uninstallable app like computrace

Is it possible to install an app like the one from LoJack called "COMPUTRACE" which cant be uninstalled even after factory reset?
It would be a great idea for anti Theft....
I know that "COMPUTRACE" is installed in "persdata" partition and thats why it cant be deleted.
Is there any way to inject an app like avast anti theft in that partition?
Thank you in advance for any help or guide...
There are a few that survive a reset but non that survive a flash.

Actually Computrace by Lojack and Cerbrus can survive even the reflash. the app installs and restores the data itself even after reflashing the new ROM. I have tried Computrace by LoJack. it really does returns. Upon my research, the app and data are stored in PERSDATA Partition which cant be formatted by reflashing new ROM unless we reformat using PIT files and re-partition the device.
I tried to push an app in that partition but didnt worked. The app gets removed from the partition as soon as you exit the folder in any of the root explorers.

That depends on how you flash the rom. If you format all the partitions before flashing then it doesn't get restored. One of my buddies tried to find something that was fool proof and we found non that would survive a complete reformat of the whole device.

I have an idea. but I am limited due to my knowledge. May be you can help me.
We know that all of the securities can be disabled by reflashing the new ROM, which can be done by 2 ways,
1. flashing with RECOVERY
2. flashing with software like odin in DOWNLOAD mode
Now,
Galaxy s5 has Philztouch recovery which had recovery password. I have set the recovery password so no one can enter the recovery.
now one can flash new recovery with software like odin in download mode.
Is there any way to restrict access to download mode?
like by disabling USB debugging in developers settings or any thing?
Thank you in advance.

No there isn't. As that is completely closed sourced and changes depending on the device.
Many people have tried over the past few years and it has always failed.
The best advise I can offer is not to lose your device. Which to be honest I am not sure how people lose track of a thousand dollar item but it happens.

S6 Edge Keeps on Restarting/Crashing

A good day to all!
I have had an issue with my S6 edge (SM-G925F, Philippines Globe Carrier Version) for months now wherein it keeps restarting/crashing. The problem persists so randomly, sometimes multiple times a day or sometimes a day or two without it. I've already tried everything I could find in the internet, such as; deleting the cache in recovery, factory wiping the phone, and flashing the newest firmware i found for it on sammobile. Noting seemed to work. This is my last attempt in fixing the phone before I give up. I hope someone can give me good advice about this.
So nobody knows how to fix this? I don't care if it's a hardware problem i just wanna know
yh man, same problem...i cant even boot to the system..is your led flashing blue?

Is the phone currently working?
It sounds like it could be the hardware failing, could be the emmc failing.
The only thing to suggest at this point is to wipe data/cache in recovery and flash a new firmware.
Or try a custom ROM. If it happens on the custom ROM also then it's possibly hardware.

That's EXACTLY what i was thinking although i did not know that was the name of the part. I was just thinking the memory module was maybe defective already. Dang it so the logic board should be replaced right? Because as far as I know the memory is soldered to the board and hard to remove by itself let alone replacing it.
I've already tried the wiping of data/cache and flashed the newest firmware using Odin but the problem still persists.
Also tried the custom ROM and I've tried a lot of them non actually boots to the system. Only flashing the official firmware allows me to boot to the system.
Thank you for the reply I will now just give up on this and just buy a OnePlus 3T.

If it's the emmc then only way to fix is to replace the full motherboard, which isn't cheap.
It's a known problem on note 4. Emmc chip fails and eventually completely packs in.
Which custom Roms did you try? Carhd rom is a good one to try very reliable. Also when flashing a custom ROM it can take 20-30 minutes to boot into the system.

True they are very expensive that's why I'd rather just buy a new phone. I just didn't want to give up such good hardware until I've tried everything.
Oh really? I wonder why that's the case
I actually forgot which ones already but I'm sure I tried Carhd and it didn't boot for more than an hour. But I'll go and check again just to be thorough.

Yeah it's a shame really. I could be wrong that might not occur on yours. Normally when you get emmc failure, the phone will reboot to download mode and give you an error along the lines of emmc Write fail. And then keep repeating this.
3T is a good choice to go for if that's what you decide

Wouldn't say it was motherboard yet. After you flash your rom you need to boot to recovery and wipe data/cache. This will fix the apps crashing
done,cant boot the system.

Do not pay for it. Chances are if you can't fix it they can't either.
So have you tried flashing stock firmware?
What Android version do you have and what region? What's full model number g925?
Reduce the cpu frequencies to 1200-800mhz for big and little and userspace governor. This the only fix.
ok,so one more thing,on the glass back of the phone sits one imei that is not correct, and on the battery is another, which reports 64g version, while next to that number is printed 32gb and phone actually has 32gb lool
it is supposed to be g925f,but after i installed some custom rom,pc showed it as g925s? i think it is due to rom signing the wrong model number
the last thing i have done was yesterday, and it was flashing firmware through kies again.
and this is what i get :
s6 edge powered by android, followed by blue screen 'installing system update',and then recovery
in the recovery,i get this :
android recovery
samsung/zeroltexx/zerolte
7.0/NRD90M/G925FXXU5EQBG
user/release-keys
*recovery options*
No suppoer SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3
dm-verity error...
i realy dont know what else to try,and i am open to all suggestions..i have read that emmc storage is broken so this kind of problems can occur,so maybe service would do that?
thank you,i know this is confusing and boring problem
i tried with odin once more, and it failed at 25% instaing system update, then i restarted it and it got up to 32% and started erasing and it turned off..tf with this phone?? i guess its broken...

Download and flash that firmwsre through odin before you try anything else. Let me know what happens.
I can tell you it's likely not emmc failure. For this you would get random reboots and it would reboot to download mode. There you would have an error emmc_write_error.
wowo thanks,i just gave up on that phone,i will try again,i will report back!
just one question,why vodafone?
oh,and i did have random reboots on android m,but it would reboot to optimizing android and boot
