So, I got my HTC Thunderbolt, rooted it, then unrooted it.
Would I be able to install the official MR2 OTA update from "Settings" then reroot my phone? I heard once installing this OTA update, rooting wasn't possible.
Or would I have to go an alternate route of rooting, then flashing an MR2 based ROM?
I'm completely lost, as I'm coming from a Droid X.
Also, what is this MR2.5 I'm hearing about? Is this just a leaked future OTA update?
Thanks in advance!
You could upgrade then root using the current method, but there's no point as it will downgrade you. If you want the OTA and root just root you phone, then flash the radio through hboot and a rooted version of the OTA ROM through recovery.
That's the MR2.5 update. hm, since it's a leak, it might not be 100% stable, correct?
Also, how often is that rooted version of the OTA ROM updated? It's not updated very frequently, is it? Is it just updated when a new OTA update comes out?
No, that's the "Official OTA MR2 Radio". Meaning the one that was pushed out via official over the air update, I've been running it since it dropped, not a single reboot (everyone's experience it different). You are correct on the ROM, only updated when HTC/VZW drop and update.
So, I just rooted my phone. Now I flash the MR2 update, and then the rooted version of the OTA ROM and I'll be good to go?
Why do I even need the rooted version of the OTA ROM? Is that so it'll be able to support the MR2 update?
No, there are many ROMs that support the MR2 radio. Check out the developement section, it will usually say in the OP what radio works with a given ROM. You mentioned updating then rooting so I assumed you wanted to use the OTA. You know what happens when you assume.
So the ROM you directed me to is pretty much stock? Nothing removed, nothing added?
It is debloated and has superuser and busybox (for root access). This one only has superuser and busybox (no bloat removed).
So as you all know, the upgraded version 4.3 just came out for tmobile users. I did the OTA and everything was great. Then I try to tinker
with some things and messed it up for myself. It was a struggle but I got 4.2.2 back on it. What I'm wondering is if there is a link anyone can
provide that has the download for 4.3. Or my wife has the same phone, same service, it's upgraded to 4.3, and root access. Is it at all
possible to copy her OS to the computer and flash it to my phone.
I've got two Virgin Mobile (sprint) L710s running 4.4.2 that I rooted with odin a few months ago. They're both running stock roms, and we keep getting prompted to install a system update. The update fails and the message returns.
I'd like to keep these stock and rooted:
What's the best way to get rid of this system update notification?
Thanks.

Hi,
I have a UK Moto G (2013) running 4.4.4 KitKat and I installed CWM and rooted it some time ago. Now they are pushing out Lollipop OTA I am getting nagged by the phone to update - but, it always fails when I try. Presumably this will be because of the CWM and/or root. I tried a full unroot but that didn't help as CWM kept complaining on the upgrade reboot about something (can't remember what now!). I've read that in order to get the OTA update to work, I have to get the phone completely back to stock, but I can't find a stock ROM and stock recovery for it. Do I have to take it back to stock or not ? Either way, would anyone know how I can get the OTA update to work please ?
At the moment it's back to rooted and CWM recovery.
Any help you could offer would be very gratefully received.
Thanks!

Get the update file from Motorola, flash it with CWM.
Hey guys
I've been running 4.4.2 for like a freaking year (yeah I have), and I see everyone upgrading to Lollipop on their Note 3. When I go and check for an update, it says I've already installed the latest version.
I am running stock 4.4.2 with 3.4.0-1955971 kernel.
I could always just wipe it and install a ROM, but I don't want to lose my files, apps, etc. I see plenty of people who got the update through OTA (like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...ting-lollipop-ota-update-sprint-note-t3076813 ).
How do I get the OTA update on my Note 3, so I don't have to wipe everything?
Thanks!
Update: I installed a stock ROM going through this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/finally-official-5-0-firmware-galaxy-t3029557
I am now on 5.0 stock, and all my apps are intact
