Hi,
I've been trying to get from Lollipop to KitKat ever since I got this tablet because of some compatibility issues. I read through most of the general threads, but I'm still stumped. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I doubt anyone has even tried it, so there is going to be no guide, I don't have the tablet, if I did, I would have setup a dual boot, and run lollipop from from internal memory and kitkat from micro sdcard.
How hard it would be would depend on the kernel, can a lollipop kernel boot kitkat? I think it could, you would have to unpack the kitkat boot.img edit it to boot from micro sdcard add lollipop kernel and modules, install kitkat to micro sdcard and boot.
first I would try just with kitkat boot.img modified to boot from sdcard, to see if lollipop bootloader would allow kitkat kernel to boot if so no need to use lollipop kernel in kitkat boot.img.
Basically like I did with my dell venue 3830 dual booting Jellybean 4.3 and Kitkat 4.4.2

I'll look into that for now. Thanks!
The Lollipop update re-partitions the device and wiped out the old-style boot block that allowed booting the KitKat images. The Lollipop images use the regular GPT/ANDROID! style, and the KitKat images used some special Intel partition. We don't have any of the files that would let us go back to the KitKat boot block, so you're not going to be able to fully roll back to how it was before. Any rollback would have to be a workaround like vampirefo's method.

Desperately looking for custom de-bloated ROMS for Asus Transformer TF103CG (K010) too...
Any updates?
Hi!
I'm unlock bootloader for asus tf103cg & install twrp recovery!
Download and unpack this https://yadi.sk/d/i74q4KDD3QfXwT
Connect tablet to PC.
Ran script 1: 1_flash_droidboot.cmd.
After reboot and booting to droidboot, run script 2: 2_unlock_bootloader.cmd.
After reboot and boot droidboot again, run script 3: 3_flash_twrp.cmd
After reboot, tablet booting to TWRP recovery
I know that some people are having some issues working with the flash tool and downgrading their firmware to get root. There IS an easier way. The way I rooted the last time was to:
1) download one of the prerooted flashables (I chose one of the lollipop ones) and put it on my SD card,
2) use Kingroot on the .44 firmware to get temp root
3) install the dual recovery.
4) Once dual recovery installed and booted to TWRP for the first time I did a wipe (may not be necessary) and flashed the pre-rooted .zip
5) wiped cache/dalvik (again, maybe not necessary) and rebooted to rooted lollipop with supersu.
6) If kinguser is still installed (I don't believe it was for me) just uninstall it.
Do you know why after I am flashing pre-rooted.zip files, my phone stuck at Verzion boot logo forever
Can you please help?

How long is "forever"? It's been noted that it can be at the VZ screen for 15 or so minutes.
If ever in doubt, go back into TWRP, wipe everything but your internal/external storage and flash again. If that doesn't work, your prerooted .zip is likely funked up.
it won't bootup for the whole night
I fresh downloaded the same version and it still not work
Anything else I could try?

How to install dual recovery? Anyone has a step by step guide?
Finally Kingroot worked and I'm rooted with recovery on lollipop.
I spent the day trying all the other instructions and finally looked at this thread. Got it and rooted with 5.02 installed and dual recovery. Yahoo!. I first installed 5.02 without root and was having some trouble with intermittent smartwear connectivity. Once I decided to downgrade to kitkat and root I also thought it was best to wipe the phone and am glad I did this time although reinstalling and configuring the phone will take some time. It solved my Bluetooth connection problem. Thanks for recommending kingroot. This is much easier imo. These are the procedures I used:
Using Windows 10 x64
Notes:
A: I was content with non-root 5.02 but Bluetooth connectivity was acting up with my Sony Smartband Talk.
B: Driver signing seems to be an issue with Windows 7 and 8.1 from other’s comments but not on Windows 10.
C: These procedures are for getting back to 4.4.4 from a non-rooted 5.02 phone so that root can be obtained. For just obtaining root on 4.4.4 and then upgrading to rooted 5.02, skip the first two steps.
Files and procedures:
1. Installed Flashtool 09.18.6 from here https://userscloud.com/kb6tr3bcuecr
2. From non-rooted 5.02, I used this version of Flashtool to pull the KitKat 4.4.4 version and installed to phone wiping cache, data and app settings
3. Files to install on SD card:
a. Prerooted lollipop: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/...ment/5-0-2-sony-xperia-z3v-prerooted-t3214182
b. Dual Recovery TWRP: Z3-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.flashable.zip from: http://nut.xperia-files.com/
c. SuperUser from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
4. Install Java SE Development Kit 8u65 Windows x64 to system from here | http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html
5. Install Windows version of Kingroot from here to obtain temporary root on 4.4.4 | http://www.kingroot.net/
6. Install Dual Recovery TWRP v: Z3C-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.installer.zip from here: http://nut.xperia-files.com/
Note: This version you run from Windows to obtain the first recovery after successull Kingroot and is why I installed the Java SE kit
7. Reboot phone and it comes up in recovery
8. Wipe Dalvik and Cache
9. Use the Install function in TWRP to install the Super User and Dual Recovery zip files and then the Pre-rooted lollipop. Reboot
10. Done. Old/New rooted phone. F$ck Verizon
11. Delete the flash files from SD card included in step 3 above.

Just wanted to make sure. Are you flashing the zip from the internal memory or an SD card? Whichever way you are doing it try the opposite. Move it from your PC to the internal/external and flash it. It seems as if that zip is corrupted somehow. I just don't know why.

Somebody say root 4.4.4 which I know it is already working
And you say 5.0.2, we can gain root without flash pre-rooted ROM

I don't know how you gain root without going back to 4.4.4 first unless I've missed something. That would have saved me a big headache.
I tried MiUi MM 6.0 but didnt liked it. It comes with lots of bugs. So now I want to revert back to MiUi Kitkat. I searched for how to revert back and found these two useful thread :
http://en.miui.com/thread-218609-1-1.html
http://en.miui.com/thread-217420-1-1.html
So basically both of these two guides use MiFlash to revert back to MiUi KK, using flash*.bat files and reverting back to 2 system partition layout. It is needed because MiFlash can't find required 2 system partitions etc.
I am currently using TWRP 3.0 recovery. My query is, TWRP is not flashing ROM in fastboot mode, so can I just flash MiUi KK rom on current MiUi MM ROM ? TWRP dont need 2 partitions to flash KK Rom. Am I correct ? Or flashing using MiFlash is the only way ?

I haven't actually tried it. But in the previous normal extended partition (not MIUI MM one), installing MIUI KK didn't change partition and you would get 1.2G system size. Now with that extended partition, you can install normal MIUI KK ROMs but not the 5.12.17 Alpha (if I'm not wrong with the no.) which probably bricks.
So the only KK ROM which affects your partitions is that alpha ROM which you flash to merge patition officially.

That's what i was thinking 5.12.17 probably could alter partition. I flashed this version earlier with TWRP and it merged my system partitions as i needed. But i hope old KK roms dont alter it.. I don't want to brick my phone again..
It is helps someone, I Successfully reverted back to miui kk on merged partition by flashing rom zip file from twrp recovery.
If you simply just wanted to go back to MIUI KK from MIUI MM without changing the partition layout, what you did is correct, just directly wipe and flashed it through recovery. But that lefts you on MIUI KK without the Dual Boot capability.
If you want to have the Dual Boot capability back (which means returning to dual partition layout), you have to use the *.bat switch method (the first link in your OP), since the *.bat inside MIUI MM fastboot ROM contained the partition layout reformat step, and the fact that all fastboot ROM have the partition layout table format (gpt_*.bin).

Hi All,
I had Lineage 14.1 ROM on my Nexus 9.
I wanted to use Xposed framework for a project which does not work with 7.0+.
Hence I want to go back to 6.0 ROM.
I have tried 3 different 6.0 ROMs so far, all of which resulted in bootloop.
Just now I flashed 14.1 Lineage OS again and it boots up just fine.
Can anybody tell me what I'm missing here? I'm using TWRP recovery 3.1.1-0

If you are going back to 6 with a custom ROM, you also need to flash the vendor image from that version of Android as well. Just download the factory image of 6.0 from Google's factory image page, then extract the zip, then extract the zip that's in there. In those files will be a vendor.img. put it in the tablet somewhere you can find it (like download folder) or on USB stick or wherever you're putting the ROM zip you're flashing. When flashing ROM and gapps also install vendor image to vendor partition. TWRP has the option to flash image files.
This is something needed on 64 bit Android devices.
Bootloader has to be installed with fastboot, but come to think, I don't think you have to downgrade bootloader. Pretty sure having the newer bootloader is fine. Vendor should match the version of Android you're using though.

Hello,
I just managed to generate TWRP recovery for S912 Android 9 version, you can install the official TWRP app to flash with in the ROM.
But after reboot the ROM goes back to stock recovery, so for now i am installing everytime i need to use recovery, unless i am able to find a permanent solution.
Link to TWRP
Suggestions welcome if you have for keeping the recovery persistent.
Regards
I was able to keep it persistent but if I go to install all I get for folder names is a mess. Using Superceleron's generic SC normal pie rom. Appeared to install magisk but magisk manager didn't see it and I lost superuser access so I had to reflash rom. I hope you or others can pick up on TWRP for this. Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge so can only test. Liking the Superceleron rom on my T95Z(2/16) much better than poison or stock (so far... still testing...). Glad to see these old devices getting some new love. Hopefully it will continue.

Jumbled charcters is because the ROM is encrypted and this recoveery is not able to decrypt it.
Bumping this, going to test this on Aidans rom
Update: could not confirm if it works it looks like the reset button is not mapped on Aidans rom. The weird thing is it works if I use the USB burn tool but not when I do a regular boot.

Do you mean we can flash using amlogic usb burning tool, I am now struggling to install this ROM on khadas 64 android 9 ROM by Highway star
Hi @eagledipesh!
I managed to install your TWRP successfully on Aidan's ROM, thank you very much!
First I unpacked the Aidan' ROM with the Customizatio Tool, then I replaced the original recovery with your TWRP. I repackaged the ROM and flashed it with the AMLogic USB Burning Tool.
With TWRP and I did a full backup and I was also able to restore without errors. However, after restoring and booting the system, it gets stuck on AndroidTV splash screen.
Maybe I need to port the correct TWRP, because when unpacking your recovery with AIK, I saw in one of the files that the model is gxm_q201_2g, but my Android Box is gxm_q200_3g.
1. What base TWRP did you use to create your TWRP?
2. I tried porting TWRP myself from Aidan's ROM recovery, I can even get into recovery, but the letters are all scrambled. Can you help me make my own port?
