So I am wondering if there is a way to turn off the LED lights within Tasker? I have a night profile where it turns down all the sounds, vibrations, etc etc but noticed last night that the LED light was flashing for some emails I had come in. I had a look in the tasker settings but I couldn't see any that would disable the LED?
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?
OK, I shall keep up this conversation with myself (the voices in my head make me feel like it's a normal conversation with others though ). I found the setting in tasker to turn off the led - it's in the audio section and it's called 'notification pulse'. In my night profile I have now set that to 'off' but it made no difference and any emails during the night had the led flashing
You can use Light Flow to disable notifications at a certain time, plus you can do a lot of customisation.
You need root.

I reckon, you don't need root w light flow, but other than that bortak is absolutely right. Light flow does all that and perfectly.
Yes, you are totally right. I have installed and uninstalled lightflow a few times already. While it does do that for me, it's just not quite working right. I kept on having a notification light flashing after dismissing or viewing a notification. It just wouldn't stop flashing. That was bugging me more than the extra features I got out of the app, so I've removed it again.

this is because you havemt set the "clear notification style" parameter. set it to 'screen on'. so that once you wake up the screen al notifications are cleared and u wont see that blink again. Normally it is set to 'app entered', where you have to go to the app (or the phone and click on the missed call etc). set it to what I told to all your notifications.
Thanks. I'll take another look at that. I thought I had it set that way but wouldn't be surprised to see I was wrong. I do think that I'd tried entering the app as well when it wouldn't clear, and still wouldn't.
Hi!
Im searching nearly same. Im looking for a solution to switch off and switch on this notofication Led like i want by a tasker or by a widget 1 click.
I dont really like the app light flow.
Tasker is audio>notification pulse
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks rootSU. I had found that, but it doesn't seem to be working on the S3. I found the tasker google group and some similar problems exist there. One is having the same problem as me, and another I think is trying to turn the led on but it's not working; all S3's. Maybe tasker isn't optomised for this on the s3 yet?
I've found lightflow to be hit or miss. Sometimes the led keeps flashing even when the notification is dismissed (have checked my settings, even tried different ones), and the day before flashing for sms's stopped working. Even a reboot didn't fix it. So, I lived without the led's on my S1 and I'll do the same here. I had them on last night and kept waking to a notification of some kind and found that too annoying.
Thanks for the help and suggestions guys. Appreciate it.
Just a widget 1 click to switch would be perfect for me.

I think it works for me but not entirely. That ecpksind why the missus woke me up the other night to complain about the led. Hope it's fixed soon.
Once fixed Fred, you can create a widget in tasker

Don't suppose anyone's come up with any more ideas about this? I have emailed the tasker developers and I don't think they were 100% sure, but didn't think the notification pulse setting was for disabling the led's completely. I still try playing with lightflow every now and then, but the little bugs I have (mostly sms notification led not dismissing without reboot or entering lf app (only thing that works is having manual dismissal but it's a pain)) are still present for me. I also tried it with handcent but was getting no led notifications.
Hey guys,
I figured out a fix for the Verizon Galaxy S3. I know there are differences between the way the international version and US versions handle the notification light, but it might at least give you guys a starting point. You do need root.

Josh
need help jellyverse rom v0.3 i get notified even after turning off the led in the settings it blinks blue not big of a deal but does seem to drain battery after a few hours
Has anyone found a way to do this yet? Notification Pulse doesn't work, at least on the SGS3. I have tried LightFlow in the past, I found it buggy and uninstalled it.
I've been using light manager to manager my led for a while now. Doesn't have the talkback issues I had with lightflow, and free.

My Verizon S4 is set to vibration mode (sound turned down/off)
In the options for gmail, facebook, and hangouts I have notifications turned on, but the vibration is off (unticked), BUT I still get vibrations when an incoming email, message, or notification comes along.
Anyone know how to override this issue? Are there external apps that can fix it? I only want my phone to vibrate when I get phone calls or text messages.
I have searched and found nothing.
Does no one else have this problem? It's driving me nuts!
I have the issue but mine only affects my enhanced Email app running Yahoo. Going to try uninstalling that and just use default email app, see if that helps.
Anybody find a solution to this yet????

I'm thinking that the sound/vibrate settings in Settings may be overriding this, but don't know why?

because you have it in vibration mode. all notifications are vibrate when in vibration mode, even when you have vibration turned off in the apps.

It never used to do this on the Galaxy S4, whoever finds a fix for this I will love forever!
This is not a bug but an annoying change Google made as of Android 4.2. Basically anything with a notification is supposed to vibrate when the phone is in vibrate mode regardless of the app setting although the app needs to support it. There is no fix but CM10.1 has the ability to revert this behavior.

Sorry for digging up this Thread, but this is not acceptable for me.
My S3 is always on Silent/Vibrate - Mode. In this case, Hangouts isn't usable for me. I have to disable all hangouts notificitaions, or my phone would vibrate almost all of the time.
So, is there any workaround available, so far?
I've allready tried to revoke permissions for vibration from hangouts and G+ via "App Settings" (Xposed module), but that didn't work. :/
Any solution would be great. Otherwise I have to go back to 4.1.2.
Best regards,
Marcus

You can try to manually turn off the vibration in the sound settings. settings<my device<sounds<vibration intensity
Change the slider of anyone of them that needs to be changed (from what I can tell you just want the notification vibration to be turned off so slide that one all the way to the left).
Let me know how this go.
Thx for your reply. But this will turn off Vibration for all notifications, won't it? I just want to turn it off for Hangouts because I receive lots of messages there and it's pretty annoying to have a phone on your pocket, that is vibrating all the time. I also have an app, that comes along with the OmegaROM, called "Notifications Mangaer" But changes there doesn't take effect. :/

That is the only way I know, other than the notifications manager. I know what you means too, I also hate the annoying vibration all the time and it waste battery life. I got tired of looking for a way around it and just turned off the notification vibration.
Sad to hear... But I won't surrender. This is not acceptable for me. There must be a way to disable vibration on Hangouts even if enabled in system settings. I'll hang on it and let you know as soon as I found a solution . Thx, so far.

Thats not bad as an temporarily soliution. It hits me on an idea:
Lets perfection this and create a 1s long, silent track and set it as ringtone. That should work as well.
But even this cant be the final solution. There must be a way to prevent hangouts from vibrating, although global settings force vibration. It worked in the past as well, so why not on above 4.1.2 versions?
Same problem with S5 Mini
I got the same problem on m S5 Mini - it's driving me crazy! Why should I want apps to vibrate in vibration mode, when i don't want the to vibrate in general - when I turn off vibration in the app settings?!
I wake up every night because of notifications from facebook or emails..
I just want whatsapp and phone calls to vibrate!
I came from HTC devices (Desire, Sensation, Sensation XE) and never had this problem before.
It's also annoying that I can't change the notifications volume together with the ringtone volume, but have to seperately adjust the slider
Any solutions without root would be great
I have the LED set to stay on and blink when I get a new notification or message with LightFlow. It should turn off once I open the app to check the message or clear the notification. This works perfectly for Skype, Gmail, Hangouts, and charging my phone. But when I get a text message, the light either blinks for a second and then stops, or nothing happens at all. I've tried changing the settings in LightFlow, using the notification setting in the messaging app instead, using different apps (the stock messaging app and Go SMS Pro), but they all have the same problem. This is an issue with MMS too. Is there a specific setting I'm missing?
Might be STAMINA-Mode? The notification LED behaves different if STAMINA-Mode is enabled. It won't change color/duration.
Curious about this myself. I have a similar issue. I leave stamina mode on running all the time. When I get any notification, it blinks a couple times, then disappears. I believe this is due to stamina mode.
I tried downloading Light Manager and set it up, but again those settings take effect for a few notification blinks, then it turns off - again assuming it's due to stamina mode.
Here's the weird thing, when I turn stamina mode off, Light Manager doesn't take effect, and the default notifications take priority and work properly.
I've tried adding light manager to the excluded apps in stamina mode but it still doesn't work. Is there a Sony process I can add to stamina mode that will exclude notification lights from being hibernated?
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Free mobile app
I never have STAMINA mode turned on. The weird thing is all of my LED notifications work just fine, it's just SMS and MMS that doesn't. When I try to test out the LED blinking in the Go SMS Pro app, nothing happens. The LED works when I test the notification in LightFlow, but nothing happens when I actually get a message.

I don't know, but you can try this xposed module if your device is rooted http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-xperia-stamina-mode-led-t2713892
it brings back the LED functionality while stamina mode is on.

Well I tried Light Manager and that seemed to work for a bit, now it doesn't work anymore. Still nothing for SMS.
Have you tried using a different sms app? I know you said gosms and stock, but give textra a try. It's really nice and simple, and fast. Not to mention the security issues that gosms has. I would advise anyone using gosms to use something different. That's just my opinion. There was an article here on XDA about the go team and their apps. Very shady company based out of China.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Free mobile app
It looks like Light Manager works now. I disabled and re-enabled Light Flow and that seems to fix it, so I guess I'll be using Light Manager for the SMS notifications at least.
I use Go SMS mainly because it's the only SMS app I know of that gives you the option of not using the bubble layout. Not a huge fan of it. I'll give Textra a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ive seen a Huawei Ascend G630 that a friend has and he told me that the notification light when receiving WhatsApp messages does not work. The light is green by WhatsApp configuration.
How can I test the notification light is working correctly? When charging, it does light up.

I have Huawei Acend G630,and I have issue with LED indicator, its only on when charging or when the battery is low..its off for notification,I tried many apps to test it and its not blinking.
My friend have a same phone (just white edition, mine is black) and his LED indicator is blinking on notification.
HELP me,what to do,I had a BlackBerry, and i get used to led indicator,i want it to work on my g630
I'm not sure if this is the same as your problem, but my old phone only had blue and red LEDs, so setting the light color to green would result in nothing. If changing the color doesn't fix it, then I don't really know what the issue is, but you could try using an app such as Light Manager to test out the light.
Tried
Tried with that app and no light works when testing..... maybe a update???

Try to make a new google account, its possible that notifications are turned off on google settings from your smartphone that you had before G630.
First what I've did is creating new google acc and installed NLWidget and LED its work!

OK, on usual devices, just drag your application to the app info icon and when it opens, on the top left corner just below the app name you can toggle on/off notifications. Please let me know if this works.

Well making a new Google Account for this doesn't make sense. Also, the person before had the same Google Account on another phone and the notifications were lit up perfectly on the person's previous phone. Anyways, I DOUBT this has ANYTHING to do with, for example, WhatsApp, notifications.

It sounds odd because by defect it IS activated so why would it be deactivated? Also, with the widget and the light manager app it does not light up either.
There was to be some strange software bug in MIUI playing up here.

The glitch is a side effect of restoring from your Google account to the phone, which is part of the setup process for the phone. The feature downloads apps and settings from the cloud, which is usually a good thing. But in some instances it can tell the phone to restore the notification LED setting from another phone, leaving the light disabled with no way to re-enable it.
Fortunately there's a simple fix for this issue, and it's one that apparently applies to Motorola and some other phones too...
Motorola has released a widget that lets you toggle the notification light on and off, so if you're affected by this bug simply download it, place it on a home screen and toggle it on. After that you can remove the widget and your notification light will continue to work.
I dont know why but this bug comes with old google acc.
My LED was dead(it was on only on charging and batery low,not for notification),and I did factory reset, create new google acc. installed Notification light widget, and LED started to work, then I installed a Light manager for editing colours for notification.
Strange but black G630 have this bug, white G630 LED works perfectly.

Creating a new Google Account is a overkill and completely out of the question. At most, in the Google account, there has to be a setting to receive notifications. But even then, notifications are received perfectly; It just the light that doesn't turn on!

I also realised that when the screen is on and the messages are coming, the notifications icons are coming in the top bar BUT proper notifications are not showing up at the top of the screen (as it was before)
Don't want to hard reset the phone, it is so full.

One thing you can do is to try the good old reliable factory reset and see if it works.
Make sure you backup your stuff before doing so.
I just acknowledged that it was because of the "Do not disturb mode". I'm always using this mode, and in 8.0, the Led was working when receiving messages and so one, but in 9, when in "Do no disturb" the led stop working. Somebody know how to make all the calls make ringing the phones and all the others notifications entirely silent without entering the "Do not disturb" mode ?
