I wonder what that Internet Sharing app is all about?...I've had no problems with the wireless modem app...?
You haven't tethered until you've used internet sharing.
Over bluetooth it creates a PAN with its own DHCP server, NAT translation and everything. Very cool. You can choose USB and it does the same thing too...
Sounds like they made it easier to use the 8525's internet connection to tether while only paying for the mediamax 200 plan
exactly!
new cingular rom
right now the link is only on an internal site for cingular employees to download. i downloaded it today and bricked my device while trying to install it. i would love to tell you about it. the public release is still scheduled for sometime in march. mean while i am going to try to get an os on my 8525.

could you pm me the intranet link... i am an ATT employee (legacy SBC) and have access to the cingular intranet... or maybe i can give you my userid and you can email me the link from our work email...
I am actually using my X01HT right now in Internet Sharing mode to post this using my laptop.
I did a speed test and I get a great 120k down and 60k upload off of the Softbank network which I pay for the Flat Rate Plane which as far as I can tell will let me surf the internet etc with no issues for no charge except the actual service.
Works like a charm.
Internet Sharing and OSX
please ignore

Short for Internet connection sharing, a method for connecting multiple computers in a LAN to the Internet through a single connection and a single IP address. ICS typically uses NAT technologies to achieve this and works with most connection technologies, including DSL, cable, ISDN, dial-up and satellite. The device with the modem or broadband interface that establishes the connection to the Internet is called the ICS host, or gateway while the other devices that connect to the Internet via the network and the ICS host are called ICS clients. If the ICS host fails, then all of the ICS clients lose their Internet connection.
Sharing an Internet connection can be achieved through either software or hardware solutions. All versions of Windows from Windows 98 and on have ICS software included in the operating system. However, there are also products such as WinGate and WinProxy, which are third-party shareware alternatives that will turn a computer into a gateway or proxy server. Hardware solutions involve a NAT-based hardware router that is connected directly to the Internet connection adapter, and each ICS client is then connected to the router.
Also referred to as simply Internet sharing, on Linux systems, this is called IP masquerading.
there are some app to make internet using for free? or some text files changes to do this ?
and were can i get custom rom torrents ?
sorry for my bad english
It's just impossible .
The easy answer: You can't. You either have no internet connection, or you pay some provider to have an internet connection. They have to pay for their network connection too you know.
The hard answer: Read Computer Networks (5th Edition) - by Andrew S. Tanenbaum. Then something like Hacking: The Art of Exploitation, 2nd Edition - by Jon Erickson. Hack into your provider's infrastructure. Depending on your country you will now face several years of jailtime. With some luck there is free internet access included.
NB: Actual punishable offense enactment is not endorsed by me. This is merely for personal enjoyment.
Sometimes there are proxy hacks that allow for free data, but most of the time you get extremely slow data rates and limited capabilities. Not worth it IMO. A data plan is well worth it's cost especially on Android.
Dont think so
I have never heard nothing about it....its not even possible
You can't get free internet in your mobile device, one way is only Wi-Fi but if you want free internet in every time on your mobile you need pay for network traffic.
It isn't worth the trouble to do this. And it definitely doesn't last long. Just use WiFi and stick to that.
Impossible ?
We need a contract for accessing internet.
I Want to connect my HTC Wildfire S to PC for Access internet on my PC through android mobile phone. like Nokia connect via PC Suit. Can Any one give me appropriate answer.
I use a small free program on my desktop called 'Connectify' compatible with any WiFi device. It works by creating a WiFi hotspot from my wireless usb card to allow me to share my internet connection from desktop to devices. It is the most simple program to install even my not so tech savvy family members can understand it.
I have no knowledge on how to set up WiFi on your phone though, but a quick search on google on how to set up wifi on the wildfire s will net you many answers to that.
You can also install Connectify on your phones and laptops (optional) in order to share their internet connection. If this program isnt suitable I could help set up your WiFi if you have a wireless modem you could tell me the name of.

To share your mobile connection with your PC, you need to use an app called EasyTether. You can download the app here.
EasyTether shares your Android smartphone connection with your PC. This app allows you to tether your Android to a desktop or a notebook computer. EasyTether uses exactly the same data plan that is used for the on-phone Internet access like in the built-in browser or e-mail app or youtube application. No additional tethering fees.
Easytether just works - haven't seen any lags or disconnections yet.
I have an international Samsung Galaxy S3 from Telcel in Mexico running the official Jellybean ROM, and from work I got a Lenovo ThinkPad T430. Sometimes the office's wifi will saturate and it won't let me connect, and this leaves me with almost no internet on the phone because Telcel's 3G barely reaches into my office. Putting the laptop on wi-fi ad hoc mode to give my phone connection from the corporate Ethernet is verboten.
Given this scenario, I was wondering: is there a way to share internet connectivity with my Galaxy S3 over, for example, Bluetooth or USB?

I have a rooted Samsung SIII with wifi hotspot enabled to which I connect a VPN PC client .
I, sometimes use the PC to upload some files to an external server .
I downloaded an android app called android Bandwidth ruler to limit the upload/download speed such that I continue surfing while uploading and I set the rate to 800kbps , but the app limited only the download speed as I can watch the speed in ookla .
Does anyone know an alternative to limit both tethering download and upload?
Thanks
