Where would I obtain a copy of the aosp source code? I am looking for android 4.4.2. I have a copy of the phone source code that I'm attempting to compile, but I need the android source to merge together. Does anyone have Any tips or ideas? As any would be greatly appreciated.
Umm....I'm not exactly sure what you want but here's all AOSP source code- https://android.googlesource.com/
Cheers,
AJ
Thats perfect bud thank you. I was looking for a kernel and a few other things along the lines of sweetness, and this site had it: ).

Hello,
I'm new to xda so I cannot post to the developer forums. So I am posting here. Hope that's OK. Xda suggested I post here after searching for an answer to my question.
I'm trying to add an application to the android source code in packages/apps. I have been following several tutorials and they all use the "mm" command to build their app they are adding. But I can't find the "mm" command in any of the android source code that I have downloaded and built.
-- mm: Builds all of the modules in the current directory.
Does anyone know what my problem is? Does mm have to be downloaded separately? When I build android source code, I get a folder containing lots of commands but mm is not there.
Vince
OK I think what I learned was that if I carefully and correctly built the original pristine source code downloaded using repo, then mm would become available. So what this means is I have to build the original pristine code before I add my app to packages/apps so then I can use mm to build my app that I added to packages/app. Whew! What a process. So PROBLEM SOLVED, but really ugly.
Hi
I have the same problem
you mean just make the original platform code , then the mm command can work ?
Isn't it enough to just do:
source build/envsetup.sh
...to make it available?

Yes, that works! Thanks!
Hi,
I gitted the android source and I successfully built a zip using cyanogenmod 9's repo. However, I am curious to know where the kernel was being generated. I searched through the whole thing and I couldn't find the kernel source in the android source anywhere. Is this something that is pre-compiled and saved as a zImage? I really want to replace this zImage with my own compiled one but I am not sure how to merge the android source and the kernel source into one thing.
Thanks guys,
I know this is fairly noobish but whatevs...
nevermind...Found it in device/htc folder...
hi
I am looking for the source code of 4.1.B.0.431's application framework (source code of jar files in /system/framework ). I have got CM9's framework's source code but could not find Stock Rom's source.
Can someone help me in finding it please ?
U wont find it. Oem never give source for their rom, or else we would see sense running on xperia or touchwiz running on lg

Agree :highfive:
Well, I only need framework.jar's source code.
(Bytecode injection and java class decompiling would not work in all cases.
)
I am looking for it since I found out that Sony has released the source code of Xperia S kernel
I am sure that someone could find it

You can't find it. it's not public released. Android open source in OEM's meaning is releasing kernel, and maybe some libraries source code. You can't expect that big company, like Sony, can release something that makes their phones another than pure AOSP, that costed a lot of their employers effort.
I don't think that Sony has made huge changes (like changing classes names and methods) in the original framework. So, they won't loose that much in releasing the source code. Android isn't their own operating system. Anyway, if someone can get it that would be great.
One of the reasons CyanogenMod was so popular before its death was because it had an installer to make it quick and easy to install their ROM. I'm wondering if the source code for their installer is still out there somewhere? I certainly haven't been able to find it, but it was open-source, so there should be a Git or Gerrit project somewhere.
If anyone has a copy (of the source code, that is), or knows where to find one, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Hello everyone!
I've got this tablet, and I'm wondering how LineageOS and Resurrection Remix (based on Lineage, I know) custom ROMs were compiled as not only moderators didn't provide screenshots but also source code they used to make flashable zip files, and it's not even clear what works and what not works. Back in a day I also compiled ROMs for other tablet but I left source code on Github in case somebody would want to give their time and effort to make it better or find answers for their questions.
Seriously, how would I risk flashing my own tablet if I can't even see what was done to make those flashable zips, and I don't even see screenshots? Why would I take a "leap of faith" and believe that everything is working there (or works at all)?
The only real problem with this device is bloat and not having root to tweak "hosts" file.
I'll also appreciate if you tell what ROM you use and what works/not works for you.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link! Where can I find list of bugs or is it really works as good as stock ROM on this device?
as it is no longer maintained, you build it your own, you test it your own, you write list of bugs your own.
you can however look for the support thread.
