I just reflashed Slimkat 4.4.4 on my VS985 because I was having problems with Swiftkey. Now, that problem has been resolved, but a weird menu button has appeared in my keyboard. I'm sure that this is a stupid question and that there's a simple solution, but I looked through all of Swiftkey's activities and I can't find a way to disable that button. Anyone know how?
Oh, there's also 4 arrow keys I'd like to get rid of when I go to the special characters menu. Can't seem to get rid of them either.
*FIXED* When using DPI of 480 or below (on LG G3, untested on lower res screens) , Swiftkey introduces that annoying menu button. I set it to 481 and have no problem now.
P.S. The system DPI must be >480, I tried to set Swiftkey's DPI to 500 using App Settings (Xposed) and it messed with it pretty bad.

How do I make this feature go away when in landscape mode and I am using the slider? Help!!!
Ummm, hit the keyboard icon right below the onscreen keyboard?
I want it to permanently stay down unless I tell it to pop up. It shouldn't pop up if the slider is out.
null keyboard. should solve the problem (i had it installed on my treo, and i think it should work fine on the TP)

NullKB
While NullKB is the best on-screen keyboard fix I have seen, it's also the ONLY fix I have seen. I have been using it since I had the Sprint HTC Mogul. After installing on The Touch Pro, it tends to keep the KB at bay inconsistently. I am not sure if it stops working automatically upon soft reset but I wish it would control this issue unless otherwise directed.

I have never seen that option in Advanced Config.
I will check today to confirm.
I hate touching my phone while sharing internet, They always get cranky and it turns off for some reason.
Null keyboard works. Yay 4 Jugs rom has it built in.
I think he had a newer version then mine. Mine would just load a white box and stay up, His loads the box for a moment, then never comes back. But the bar will come up when its trying to deploy the keyboard.
This one has pissed me off for ages too. Just another one of those things Microsoft should have fixed several versions ago.
I dont think its nessarly their thing.
The dev's just are not writing something in to the phone to tell it to not put the keyboard up when you dont want it.
I dont think its a windows mobile thing at all.
Just remember, what devs think and what actuall users think are tottaly different.
We like no irritations unless we ask for them. They are thinking "well this would be good if the keyboard poped up here right now"
The other problem though with the OSK is that as soon as you bring it up, by accident, or purpose, it will pop up for everything after that. That is the one that bugs me the most.

Okay, I checked advanced config, and the option is there, i set it to disabled. Haven't tested it yet.
Working out another issue with standby at the moment.
Sarinhighwind,
Please let us know if the advanced config changed, worked. The on screen keyboard on my Sprint TP, pops up when I go into landscape mode, and then when I start to type using the slider key pad it disappears.
I don't want it to pop up at all.
Thanks.

Just checked, I forgot to earlier.
It does NOT work.
Like a lot of Advanced config features do not at the moment.
I used AC 3.3
The latest as I know of. Or maybe its 3.2 Whatever it was a few days ago when the TP came out.
This one has annoyed me as well... Using AC 3.2 it works well for me, the SKB does not deploy but it required a soft reset before it would work...
I use version 3.3 and it works fine for me. No more keyboard pop up here.
As above. YES you must do a soft reset before it works.
i see u guys arent recommending advanced config on the htc touch pro cdma .. is there one currently that is better... to change startup pick.. change soft key buttons....change order of tabs on tf3d
Another version of this question: how do I make the pop-up icon appear on every screen? (It does not appear on the today screen, for example).
you would use Diamond Tweak
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]"TurnOffAutoDeploy"=dword:00000001
If you make this entry into the reg it turns it off most of the time, in opera doesn't work
I know this is an old topic but I was looking for a solution for my Verizon XV6850 Touch Pro and Diamond Tweak worked for me (on SSK's 2.1.1 rom) but it's the same thing your gonna have to soft reset.
This was most annoying for me because it would pop up when making calender appointments for drop down menus. If you have a drop down why do you need to type in the time???
Anyway it worked like a charm just go down to keyboard (popup) and select disable and you'll be set

Is there a REG Tweak that tells it to always start in 123 mode? My keyboard is stuck in 123 mode and won't switch when I press the abc button on the screen keyboard...
Ok, so I recently downloaded an APK for AI. Keyboard after which I started having problems. When I press the backspace it uses other keys like. When I press it doesn't delete but instead puts another letter like "p" and happens with other keys too. Also at time I go into settings and press on certain options such as Language & Keyboard it reverts to applications or sound settings. I don't know if this is a virus or anything. Does anyone know at all about something like this.
reckoning the keyboard app to be beta, you should post the issue in relevant forum in the keyboard app site.
Is it me or does having the soft keys eat up a strong 1/4" of the screen negate the larger screen?
I have used the program to auto hide them but every time I type a text they pop up and take be back, home or wherever depending on how I have the layout set.
In addition, the text messaging viewable area is smaller given these keys and continually hides the last messages.
Something tells me I am not going to get used to not having a physical home key and off screen menu and back keys.
Thoughts / Opinions?
Have you considered re-sizing them? G2 Xposed can do that if I remember correctly, and if you're on an AOSP-based rom Gravity Box can do it if that functionality is not included in the ROM. You can make them quite small, which may look a tad strange at first but in terms of actual use I think it's completely natural, considering any off-screen buttons would be below the screen anyway. I currently run them at about half height, and you can pretty easily get away with even less than that if you wanted to. I used to prefer hardware keys as well but in time I grew to like soft keys. I like how you can try all sorts of different sizes, button combinations and button layouts, to the point that I have even used soft keys of phones that did not initially have them. Try some different sizes and setups before giving up on them altogether.

Thanks Kindly.
I had been searching for something like this but for whatever reason didn't find it.
Love the call quality on the phone and this may just be the answer
The soft keys also keep the size of the phone down. Otherwise it would be a butt hurt Note 3 . This phone is a perfect size.
What app are you using to hide them? I'm using GMD Auto Hide.. The paid version. I never accidentally bring up the software icons while texting. Did you know you can adjust the area that triggers the software keys? I have mine set to a tiny area across the bottom of the screen.

UDN Pro
I'm using Ultimate Dynamic Navbar Pro to hide the navigation bar. It takes some getting used to, but now I wouldn't have a phone without it.
You can set different triggers to show/hide the nav keys, I prefer sliding at the bottom of the screen to show the keys. With this you can also customize your buttons in many ways; glow effect, key color, keys sizes, fade effect and so on.
There's a free version available on Play Store, so give it a try.
Then there's pie to...
Or what I do, is:
Root (of course)
Download "texDroider" from the Play Store to change the DPI from 480 (default) to 400. Reboot. Enjoy MOAR SPACE
If you want to actually resize the NavBar to make it thinner:
Download the TWRP Recovery image using your phone that is designed for your version model
Download "Flashify" from the Play Store and select the TWRP Recovery file you downloaded (Probably in the "Downloads" folder on your Storage)
Reboot
Then look in the Development threads for a NavBar size mod, download the MEDIUM or SMALL. I use Medium with 400 DPI, else I'd use Small with 480 DPI
Reboot into TWRP and flash the NavBar Mod.
Rejoice
OR
Search for, and download, XPosed APK file from XDA, then install the APK
Search for and download the XPosed G2 Settings Module, then install the APK
Launch XPosed, enable the G2 Settings Module, resize NavBar
OR Hide them as previously said but I don't much care for this. It gets annoying pretty quick IMO. I move around too quick to require extra taps or swipes to go back or home.
All you have to do is install this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.home.button.bottom and set it up. Even survives a reboot. Only thing is you push it, not slide up. All other gestures stay the same.

Hi Justin, thanks so much for all the help so far on this forum. But whole installing this app you suggested, I might have stumbled into a native fix for the "third party launched breaks swiping home button" thing.
Like you, I went into adb and deleted stock Oppo launcher in favor of a custom one (I'm using nova), and I too encountered the swipe home button problem where the phoje just goes to this greyed out screen. But while fiddling with the navigation settings, I chose the other swiping method (the one where you DON'T swipe up and hold to bring up multi task), aka #4 "back to the left" option. And after choosing that, my swipe navigations work normally even when running nova. Home swipe works fine.
Maybe the bug is just for the "back at both sides" swiping options?

Thanks a lot for that. Makes everything so much better.
You are the hero dude!
Hi, I have changed my default launcher without using an app, or using adb to remove the default launcher.
After installing the launcher, I've gone to settings, app management, default app management. The option to change my default launcher is there.
All the gesture options, and navigation buttons work, with no black screens or anything. I'm pretty chuffed.
Thanks

That's only available for the global model us fools who purchased the Chinese model are screwed and we cannot change this in settings.
How do you change the type of gesture navigation, I can't find those settings
How?

How do you do this?
I've been googling and cruising a number of forums, surely there must be a logical way to get rid of this annoying thing. I am unrooted, locked BL. I have a BT keyboard. Swiftkey installed as system app by default, and I have gboard installed, too. I have an annoying keyboard shortcut of space + shift that brings up the Select input method screen. Seems it's an annoying problem, but without root no easy way to fix?
I disabled swiftkey, and I see the keyboard shortcut helper lists the shift + space shortcut, but there's no way to disable or change it to something else.
Has anyone else with a BT keyboard encountered and solved this? Maybe it's my ebay keyboard and some brief lag that interprets capital letters as my sending the space + shift shortcut. It's nearly impossible to take notes with this thing because the input menu pops up every 10 seconds or so. I'll be travelling to the mainland later this week and would love to find a way to fix this because I want to use the tablet and keyboard to take notes at a conference.
Thank you very much for any help you may have. I thought every answer was on google, but this one is not popping up....
