Harassment filter - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

Trying to use this on 4.3. It is not intercepting calls or texts. I do have it turned on. Could it be because I am using nova launcher? I could swear I had it working before. But can't rem. I also thought I had found it in settings somewhere. But that may have been lp? Can't rem. Now I go through phone manager. Any ideas? Thanks

No answers..nothing? Now it comes up in a Google search. Not good. So I just went with another app in play store. There is plenty to choose from.

I have Avast installed for Antitheft, but it has SMS/Call filter in its free version; their implementation allows you to group multiple numbers, as well as time filters for more convenient blocking.

Thanks for reply. I gave up on trying to figure it out. Im sure I had it working before I went to lp and then back. Either way. The one I am using now is perfect. It even has community blocking for spam and robo calls. So I am good. Plus if they ever get lp solid. Il be able to use it then too.

What app are you using? There may be others that want to try it and could use a recommendation. Glad you got it worked out.

@pckarma112 On 4.3 I used blacklist pro, there are settings in Lollipop for a Harrassment filter to blacklist people.

I find the harassment filter not very useful. I use Extreme Call Blocker Pro and it works perfectly

The app I am using is called CallControl. There is a free version which does basic call and text blocking. Then the paid which adds community blocking for spam and other junk type calls. I do use the paid as I have found it works quite well against robo spam and other junk. Up to you on that part...

In the app I use there is a cool feature that allows you to sms bomb or call bomb someone if they are spamming you lol It's good times when you have a stalker crazy ex who won't stop blowing up your phone. It will even allow you to redirect their texts back to them or to another number

Yea I have one like that. Keep it frozen. Only bring it out for the most evil. I've found for the most part. It is better just to block and ignore. Crazy people are crazy enough already. Now, it is someone just being evil. Different story. But most ex's go away after awhile if you just ignore them. Btw, how are you enjoying cricket? Love this phone on that service. Kicks ass!

I hear ya. Love the answer and hang up auto feature on this app too cause people can't leave voicemails lol I love this phone on Cricket. I have a few areas where I don't get service, like when I go to Canyon Lake here in Az but for the most part I have great service. Since AT&T bought them it's been awesome. Even on my drives from Phoenix to L.A. I don't lose signal at all.

I agree, brings back the not so good old days...
It's cool but not without problems.
Anybody know if it's possible to change the keypress/notification sounds?
I'm a little worried that I had to read 3-4 posts down before I understood what all of you were talking about. I even worked for Nextel customer service awhile.
Of course, nothing beats the Chinese woman who called me once, asking how to use her "talkie-walkie." She kept correcting me, too, when I called it Direct Connect. We made no headway at all until I agreed that it was a talkie-walkie.
Have no use for it.....
For me best apps are Tasker and Xscope
Well and of course, Launcher Pro Plus

Sucks they don't have this program for iphones. People I wood use this program with are using iphones or phones that aren't smart phones. Would be nice if it allows you to use it with a regular phone. Seems like they could make a lot of money with this program if they could get it to work on other devices that aren't android. Deleting for now.

You'll just have to do what I did and talk so highly of your phone that it makes them ditch their iPhones for an Android.

Hahahaha..thats funny! I do agree this is a good app..funny the app says its still on BETA but i don't see nothing wrong with it..other than it has to be installed on the phone in order for you to use it..this feature should come standard on all smart phones i think. Does bring back the Nextel Feel to it..aka "Talkie-walkie".

It is a beta. Some times I get the network unavailable. ..I have to try couple of more times then work. Also I would like to choose what person to call from a contact list in the app. If u call ur girlfriend then want to call ur friend u have to go into add number and it would erase ur girlfriend. .do same process to call girlfriend again.

I used to love Google Voice, but the pure amount of RAM it gobbles up was a deal killer for me. Once I uninstalled it, I could never get my VM back. Surprisingly, a verizon rep helped me get it back over the phone. This is good stuff to know though if I ever try again...
Really? Never uses a lot of ram for me. Like maybe 10mb, which is pretty dang good for a cloud to device app with VMs, texts, etc. And 10 isn't much. I have been using Google Voice for two years. Never give out my real number. Ever ever ever.

Well there is a catch. To enable the lookup of mobile phones you need to share your contacts with the mr number database for others to search against. At least that's the way it was, I am unsure if it has changed

Phishing
Sounds more or less like a data / number mining scheme to me, I don't think the majority of my contacts would want me to share their cell numbers with a company. Land lines (except unpublished) are pretty much a given anyway. But to share cell numbers with a company? I bet debt collectors use this route to find peoples cell numbers to harass them.

You can get it from there website , they are dealing with google pulling it from the play store. They wont tell the reason , but i installed it and not a few hours later i started getting hang up calls which ive never had before from random numbers. Its a popular app but i dont trust it.
Well that would be a problem but the app also allows u to report spam to block calls with single tap. With my phone being my business phone I like the control of blocking suspected spam without answering. Also when first time callers call and I need to save their number the name and info already there just one tap and saves me time. And time is money.

SPYWARE, are you safe?

So I think someone installed spyware on my phone. Is there anyway I can get rid of it, prevent it, and blank the persons blank for doing? The software has to leave a trail of some kind, doesn't it? Don't laugh, it's pretty easy to get on your phone from what I have read, and they can get a lot of info from your phone, listen to your calls, location updates, read your texts and emails, no good or cool.
It'd help if you say what app it is it what evidence there is spyware on your phone

If I am being spied on, how would I know what app it is? Proof? People know things they shouldn't, I'm not going into details, trust me. I believe they listen to the people I speak with thru my phone and one other persons phone close to me. Information these other people always seem to know about us when they shouldn't know. Phone gets warm for no reason, weird numbers, noises and beeps during calls, sometimes we each hear other people talking during our calls. My girl and I both have DNA's, it also happened when we had RAZRs and Fascinates. Her phones, the battery always dies a lot faster than my phones always did. My phone is 90% of the time on wifi, hers not, and her data is always high, she doesn't use her data at all, other than a few emails here and there.

Only way you would have spyware is if your face your phone to someone and they installed an app on it.
Or the fbi is watching you. But I'd go with the former over the latter.

Well if people know things they shouldnt I'd check the people you told lol. The other person you were calling most likely told. If it happens on every phone then that's not any spyware on your phone. High battery drain, call echo, unaccounted data use... Yah these are all signs..... of using cdma technology. Maybe stop using Verizon, Sprint, virgin, boost, etc.. just saying. Also your carrier preloads carrier iq on your phone it's a type of monitoring software. So yeah. Root + custom Rom + non cdma network = fun times. I know you guys think I'm nuts, but look up cellphone spyware. I wish I could say who is doing it, but that is sensitive info. And it isn't necessarily bad things they know. Just when we go over there they always bring up stuff my girl and I just talked about. When are phone are on us they never ever call. If we both leave our phones at home for a few hours, like when we take the bike out, all the sudden they call constantly. There's tons more. I just want to know how to remove it and prevent it.
It's there, it's real, and all too easy these days to spy on someone using there cell. I've read it can reinstall it self after you factory reset your phone and it is virtually undetectable. Every time we buy new phones the person I speak of sends a text with a pic, after that we never get texted by them. Or after an update (OTA) or otherwise. I was just hoping I could get some real sound advice being this is XDA.
Check it out, I was thinking about doing it to the suspected persons

You still need to install it on the phone. You can't push it on the phone without you knowing. Like it says on the website you linked to, it's either a link you need to click on, a qr code, or copy the install file from a computer via usb.
Either way, just do a factory reset.

Phone spying on me?

One thing I have noticed is that my phone seems to be spying on my activities.
My phone knows where I work and when I work and get off. It tells me my commute time and etc. One time it told me when/where my girlfriend works when I was taking her on the regular. I checked National games for the sake of metro and its the phone has started to give me MLB game times and scores. I had a time when my phone gave me an alert to attend a cookout from my car insurance company. It had emailed me this weeks in advanced. I also get advertisements for games I have looked at that pop up.
Is the Android/Google taking it too far by monitoring your activities?

I don't really get what the problem is. It isn't like it's harming you, if anything, it is making your life easier.
Google goes through tons of security and they've even said that the only thing that sees the information is their algorithms. I mean, when's the last time you've heard about Google being hacked?
But like WolfePack said, you can always disable it.

aside from google now if you're getting pop up advertisements for games, or notifications that advertise things, it's because you have a ****ty adware app that you need to block or uninstall.
