So is there anyone here who has sucessfully downgraded to 4.3 using the files Huawei provided on their blog post?
Steps I followed:
1. Download the 4.3 'downgrade' file and extract it.
2. Place the extracted 'dload' directory on the root of the microSD card.
3. From a powered off state, hold down volume +, volume -, and power.
And there's where the SHTF. Instead of the Huawei splash screen coming up (whereupon you would normally release the power button during the flashing procedure) I get a completely dark screen and a BLUE notification LED flash. If you leave the phone alone the blue LED will flash for around a minute or so before the phone spontaneously reboots on it's own - back into Lollipop.
I actually find this kind of fascinating because I never knew the HAM2 even HAD a blue LED, I've never been able to get it to light up blue before even using third party custom notification LED utilities.
Anyway my whole goal in doing this was to help some people on Youtube who wanted me to do a video showing the downgrade process..... but for some reason I can't downgrade my handset.
It's a completely vanilla HAM2 MT2-L03. And it's currently running the Lollipop preview release (B309)

Also I think there are two files. They need to be updated in order. One returns the partition back to 4.3 and the second one actually flashes the software.

Agreed on the two files. I actually did revert back to Jellybean using this method. By upgrading TWRP to the Unifed version, you can then easily go back and forth by restoring backups. I'm now on the B312 and have confirmed moving back and forth works as well.

Launcher does not survive a reboot. You can change to your favorite and it will work until you reboot.

Hmmmmm. That should have been an easy fix. Maybe it's intentional. Some will not be happy. Still beta though. Not gonna bother with the daughter's until Tom gets the source and makes a CM for it. She hates the emui look and feel as bad as I did. Or worse. I hate the stuff Samsung throws into customizing to. But its easier to work around. Plenty of development on most of them too here on XDA. Having choices is always a good thing for users. Thanks for the heads up!

Stock recovery, untouched just as the phone is after you do the B309 update.
What new version? B312? I've seen it referred to a few times but as far as I know it hasn't been made public for download yet. I'd certainly love to give it a try lol.

In the official Huawei downgrade there is only one file given, 'UPDATE.APP' which is in a directory named 'dload' which again goes on the root of the micro SD card. I'm not referring to using TWRP to do the downgrade, I'm talking about using the official method from Huawei.

It's the music player randomly stopping that was the straw that broke the camel''s back for me, it's extremely annoying.
And the battery usage seems notably worse, although given the gigantic battery that can be overlooked.
I'm having this problem too. Exactly the same setup as OP, no rooting, no custom recovery stuff, just straight out of the box stock everything, but updated to B309 a couple weeks ago. I downloaded the downgrade, unzipped to dload of root of SDcard, restarted and I get the blue LED of death. It doesn't even reboot. Holding the power button down turns of the LED and then it reboots into lollipop. No jellybean downgrade.
Edit: I tried the update from settings in Lollipop and it says update failed, rebooted and we're still lollipop.

When I reverted back to JB, I believe there were two apps in the original file. Each app had to be put into a dload folder and had to do the manual update with the volume keys. I may have done it wrong, but I actually did it twice, once with the first dload and then the second. The first was the "transfer" package and then the second was the "main" package.
Good luck.

Any ideas where you got the B148 with 2 files? I downloaded the one from the huawei community website, and from trawling these forums I found another file - they're the same singe update.app file. I even tried forcing B126 in case I could then go up to B148, but same exact result. The main reason I want to downgrade is the music bug in B309, and with nova launcher installed it won't actually let me turn my phone off! I power off, the screen goes dark, and then boots itself back on in airplane mode! Uninstalling nova prevents it from happening, but seriously, how messed up is this firmware?!
Yeah, all of the previous versions of stock firmware I've found have just included one file - 'UPDATE.APP'. I find that odd since the Lollipop update actually has 'UPDATE.APP' and 'UPDATE_VENDOR.APP'. Clearly either we're missing something or we're doing something wrong...
I went from rooted 5.1 w/ stock recovery back to 4.3. The instructions confused me too at first, but I successfully did it on the first try.
Check the index, I posted the direct link to the official download (#6).

Wow, thanks for that! That's the first time I've ever seen that file linked anywhere - and after decoding the bitly URL it does link to a file on the GetHuawei website, that's official enough for me!
So I wonder how come in Huawei's official Lollipop blog post where they get to the downgrade section, they link to a completely different package? They link to a file named 'MT2-L03_V100R001C00B148_Firmware_United States_Others_Android 4.3_EMUI 2.0 LITE_05012BPU'. And like I said, inside it is a .doc with flashing instructions, an embedded 'dload' directory, and a 'UPDATE.APP' inside that directory. Very weird.... I can't believe Huawei hasn't had more people complaining about that. Nonetheless thanks so much for steering me/us in the right direction!

The link I put in the index is the exact same link Huawei originally provided, the bit.ly link. I don't know why or when, but they changed the bit.ly link to the current one.
So I tried the (one file) downgrade on the Huawei website, which didn't work at all as I described, and then tried the (two files) link you provided and it worked perfectly - the "transfer" update.app, followed by the "main" update.app - so thank you very much for that. However, after upgrading to 5.1, and then downgrading to 4.3, there's a serious problem with the SD card. Certain apps think the SD card is not present, or blank, or not formatted, or basically can't use it. Changing default storage only gives one option, and you can't change to it - the dialog box saying "changing internal storage" just persists forever. I think the update to 5.1 changed the designation of the internal storage and the SD card, which persists when going back to 4.3, and so confuses many apps. ES file explorer shows there being internal, SD card 0 and SD card 1 in 4.3, with SD card 0 being just empty or unformatted. Clearly that's not right. So I just re-updated to 5.1, and now I'm just hoping they come out with a fix for the music player issue, and launcher sticking. Boo.

A new official LG India firmware has been launched, V10C. it's on android 2.2.1 and gets 31fps on neocore. So I guess it's the same as the V10E that people are describing.
The SD card still behaves weirdly, not sure about unmounting since I've not made any calls. Overall, the system has become noticeably slower. Would it be safe to roll back to V10B using the KDZ updater?

Try the optimus prime-v2, its fast and will meet your requirements. SD card problem is rare in it and the entire firmware sits on SD card, so you get a lot of free memory.
Not dev thread.
Moving to general.
Cheers
Ok I tested it out.. this firmware is quite horrible and it did not fix anything and the phone has become really slow in every way. I'm reverting to V10B for now, no choice. Hope all goes well.
I have strange problem after upgrading my p500 to v10c. it stopped notify me for any incoming calls. even vibration is not working in the silent mode. But the called number listed as missed call. pls somebody throw some light on this issue.
How to downgrade from v10c to v10b?
Sluggish and useless
Seemed like LG rushed this update. The device becomes too slow and sluggish. Upgraded and downgraded after 2 hours. Rooting through conventional means is broken.
Not upgrading. My P500 works fine at the moment with the older Firmware.
Any idea how to remove the crap apps they have pre-installed ?

Root and remove unneeded apk(s) and their corresponding odex files from /system/app using any root supported file browser like root explorer. Before doing this you might want to clear data. To cleanup left over odex files also remove from /data/dalvik-cache. You can cleanup this entire directory, but you would have to reboot for odex files to be re-created.

I couldn't figure out how to install that. The optimus prime post is not very clear about the steps.. it seems to be linking to other posts which aren't too clear themselves..
I am still on V10b, so do you guys strictly suggest not to upgrade to V10c?
Almost everything is fine for me with the current version, apart from one one strange problem..
The bulk SMS received do not get grouped properly. Bulk SMS 'from name' are usually in the format XX-XXXXX, now what happens is.. if the number of characters in the 'from name' of sms after '-' are same (whatever be the name), they are grouped together in the same thread.
This happens only with bulk sms which has name in above mentioned format, all other sms are grouped properly. Also, this happens in every sms application i have tried including the default one.
Hope i was able to explain it properly. Anyone else facing the same issue?

That is a known problem with the old stock browser. You are still on 4.1.1 yes?
It is fixed in 4.2.1. I wonder if just the browser.apk from 4.2.1 would fix it for you?

when you say "old stock browser" what do you mean? it's the latest stock browser for the prime (v10.4.2.18-20121122).
If there is a 4.2.1 browser, say from the infinity, tf300 or from a similar droid, could I side load it with titanium backup?
Would the browser from a custom rom work?

When I say old stock browser I am referring to yours yes. That is the 4.1.1 rom which is the latest Asus stock rom but a lot of us are on custom roms based off the TF300 rom which is 4.2.1.
I have attached the browser.apk from the 4.2.1 rom for you to try. You will probably want to back up your existing one in /system/app and then copy this one over it. Clear cache and dalvik and give it a go.

Yes, me and probably hundreds of other too but its not by our choice as the. I have been stuck with a locked bootloader for nearly 16 months. I bought it in january last year, the first three month were normal (tf201 normal) since then it has spent most of the next 12 months touring europe, back and forth 5 times to asus service centre in the chzech republic, initally for a replacement screen (micro crack cause by dock, foc repair after a long battle) but 3 more times for badly fitted touchscreen and damage caused by asus's spanner monkies. The final rma was an attempt to repair the unknown network error when trying to unlock the bootloader (cause by the RMA).
I have now given up on ever unlocking the bootloader so the new root exploit is a big deal for meself and many others.
I just tried the browser you gave me but it didnt work. I copied my browser apk to the sd card then copied your apk over mine in /system/apps but then browser icon disappeared from the app draw so no browser. When I restored the backup I made I still dont has the browser. If I try to install either apk the normal way I get a parsing package error message.
Like a spanner I didnt take a backup with titanium.
Whats the best way to restore this now?

When you say restored the backup did you overwrite the one that was there or did you delete it at any point first.. If you just deleted the old one and copied a new one in the permissions are going to be wrong. Have a look at what the other apks are set to.
Have you tried restarting after copying it over also?
I never realized you wasn't unlocked when I started. That is why I said to wipe cache and dalvik after putting it there. I thought you would have had a recovery.

Thanks, take you time. I am off to bed soon (working early) so I will come out and play tommorrow. ;P
Take it easy.
The original post for the easy instructions to root the NT are a mess. The original instructions for doing it on Windows aren't even complete. I started building the files by following the Linux version of the instructions since they actually made sense and had the files you were to get.
If I'm not mistaken though I ended up using this to root the nook although it wasn't really what I was looking for considering I had CM7 and I would get a boot choice to go nook or android. That all stopped when the sd card I was using freaked itself and failed leaving me stuck at the N screen unless I pulled the SD card. My intentions were to leave the NT stock and not mess with it and run Cyanogen on the sd card. What it appears I'm left with though (without installing a rom) is a co-mingling Nook OS and Android OS since I'm now able to choose a launcher and I have Android screens with those launchers in the Nook itself. Which this is kinda cool because I don't have to reboot the system to switch to the reader anymore.
I installed Launcher 8 to give it some WIN8 love and easy access for my fiancee whom uses a mouth stick to get around in android easier. My problem I'm having is the android system doesn't seem complete. I'm assuming there are gaps missing or something because things are slow and some things aren't working when the icon is selected. Which simulates the program isn't actually there or the files to make it work.
Obviously there wouldn't be a phone but there are other things that used to work with the dual booting CM7 installed on the old SD card that aren't working now.
Since I'm not exactly sure if the above is how I ended up rooting the device I don't even know where to go from here to adding anything to it.
I'm not a developer and loaded this thing up about this time last year. The scenery has changed over the year and I'm kinda lost with all this again. Spent most of the day yesterday trying to figure out where I was and really got no where. So hopefully someone get's what I'm talking about and can give me the push in the right direction.
Not looking to make it dual boot again because this is easier for my fiancee to use like it is. Just want everything to work right like it should. I couldn't tell you what version android I have on here because I never actually loaded an individual rom yet there is android functioning on the device. My idea was to get the newest android which isn't 4.4 yet and is actually from what I can tell that is working would be JB. Yet I have no clue what this thing is running on with the loader and such I have on it.
I'm not enirely sure what it is you want, You say you don't want dual boot, and yet you talk about the non-wotking sd card as if you actually want dual boot.
Anyway, IF you want dual boot you don't need to root it at all. Just burn an sd card with a ready-made CM10.x image, pop it in and boot up. Then choose either internal, stock boot or run from sd-card.
Here is a link to a page with ready-made sd card image file:
http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/
(This guy, Succulent, has inages of later versions of CM10.x as well, but this is the one I had a link to wothout having to go look for it.)
If you want the Tablet back to fresh "out of the box" condition you can use a repart.img that you can find by looking around a bit. I have referred to it in several posts, but I don't have a link at hand right now, Google is your friend...

*The non working sd card*
It was running as a dual boot before with cyogen or something like that and it would be selectable to go to Nook or the CM7 Android. That card somehow just died and can't even be seen in Windows anymore (have an rma filed with Patriot).
I rooted the nook and now I have what appears to be a partial android OS running inside the BN Nook OS but things aren't functioning. (I prefer it like this vs the dual boot way) So it's like I need a gapps file or something. All settings links lead to the Nook OS settings page and nothing get's me to the Android settings which is why I state it appears to be a partial Android OS. I don't even know what OS version it is because nothing fully functions with the Android side of things. (Take the Launcher8 Loader I installed. No icons actually open what they should. Selecting an icon leads to that icons settings and not what it should be opening. I have the same loader on my Skyrocket so I know how it SHOULD function and selecting an icon to get options for it is not correct. You have to press and hold to get the button to set the icon options.)
You won't get "proper" Android just by rooting. For that you need to install CM x.x. Either install it internally or run it from sd (that you apparently don't want to do)
I have not followed the particular root process you used, but both of the ones I have used myself come with gApps included.
The ones I have used:

Or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21275927#post21275927
The first one (Brian’s) require a 2 GB card the other one (Albert’s) just needs a very small card. (I think 128 MB would do, but I don’t have any that small to try)
Both give good instructions in their topics.
Both install gApps.

Brian's method looks a hell of a lot familiar like that may have been what I did instead but the listing of apps with his doesn't match what I have on the nook now: (only thing I didn't put in the list was what I installed off google play which is launcher8)
android reader
car home
chess
contacts
crossword
downloads
email
es file explorer
flash player settings
getjar
google search
home
home manager
home catcher
hulu plus
music player
my media
netflix
news and weather
nook friends
nook video
nookhwtest
nookviewer
nt hidden settings
pandora
play store
sound recorder
spare parts
splashtop remote
sudoku
superuser
talk
testcenterservice
twitter
That is all the installed apps that pull up under the Nook OS with using Launcher8 and swipping the homescreen to the left it pulls up a list of installed apps just like windows phone.
It must be brians anyway because I just opened the nook hidden settings and under the about Nook Tablet Hidden Settings it shows:

It is the development section I am aware of that and can read. I'm in the 10.2 thread which is actually what I want running on the NT. So what better place to get the help for it then in the thread for it like everyone else has.
Actually you are incorrect as you say nothing about returning the tablet to stock out of the box. Must have been someone else your thinking of. I don't want it to be out of the box though. The nook OS was already setup with apps and books etc. I just want to reverse the rooting I guess to remove the stock android from it so I can then use the links you provided to create a correct root and dual boot using wait for it.....

Really?? Read the last two lines in my first post in this topic.
Also, there is a sticky on top of the topic list in the development section about what is meant to go there and what's not: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499105

Ok I stand corrected on that matter, but stock out of the box isn't what I want.
I'm not sure you can undo what you've done without loosing content. But as long as you backup your sideloaded stuff, your BN books and apps can be dowloaded at any time.
I suppose you can stay rooted and just disable your alternative launcher and what have you, but you said something about your system being slowed up, and I susoect fixing that without a wipe of some sort would be difficult. Could be wrong though snce I haven't dealt with that myself. Let's hope someone that knows better might come along with advice more to your liking.
While waiting for that you can always make one of the CM 10.x sd card images and run it.It will work completely independent from your trublesome stock OS.
System isn't slow at all also anything side loaded came from B&N so could also be redownloaded like the books. I was just hoping to keep all that intact as it was. There just aren't certain things working that should is all. I'm sure if I was a dev and understood all this stuff more clear I could fix it. I would rather take the easy cheesy way out and just redo it. lol Too much stuff around the house falling behind while messing with this thing.

The BN stock ROM is based on Android v3.2 ("Honeycomb"). Rooting it essentially enables you to install additional apps beyond those that came with the stock ROM, either via the Playstore or by side-loading & installing the apps' .apk files (rooting packages/tools themselves typically add some commonly used apps (Email, Playstore, etc.) to get the user started).
The risk of using rooted stock ROM on the NT (especially as BN won't be releasing any more update for it) is you're stuck with the Android 3.2 base, thus as developers' support for 3.2 wanes over time you won't be able to install newer apps or even newer updates of many current apps. This same "Android version obsolescence" consideration also applies to CM7 and CM9.
As such I think it make the most sense to install CM10 to replace the stock ROM internally on emmc. If you value stability over having the latest/greatest bells/whistles, try Succulent's CM10.0 version dated 12/31/12, or the CM official 10.1.3.

It will alltogether replace the Nook OS. As said in one of the posts in the development section thread they are mutually exclusive.
If you want to keep any of the original Nook functions you cannot run another Android veresion except from sd-card (meaning dual boot).

Unroot without going to complete stock??
Your options:
Unrooted = stock.
Rooted stock (what you run now) = stock but with access to system files and ability to use for example Google Play store.
Install CM 10.x internally = completely replacing Nook OS.
Dual boot: Running CM 10.x from sd card, leaving the Nook OS (rooted or unrooted, either works) internally. Remove sd-card or reboot through Cyanoboot (you can leave the card in the device) to get to Nook OS.

Yea haven't heard back from anyone on the returning to stock without the complete reset so It looks like I will be moving books over in the near future.
So I'm getting back onto this thing and finishing it up either tonight or tomorrow.
Resetting the Nook to stock can all be done via the nook settings correct? IE no sd card needed.
It took nearly 24 hours to upload due to my dreadful internet connection but here it is, the latest Android version for the galaxy Mega I9200 AKA Kit Kat I9200XXUDNE4, repacked with a full Knox free bootloader.:good:
DISCLAIMER
I'm not responsible for anything, as usual procede only if you know what you do, and make a backup beforehands in case things go out of control.
This said since this ROM is Knox free you will be able to get back to 4.2.2 or to whatever ROM you want in case you don't like Kit Kat.
IMPORTANT
You can flash this ROM ONLY if you come from a non Knox Rom.
It means that if you were on a ROM that had Knox, like the latest 4.2.2 versions, you can't flash this ROM and in that case you'll have to go for the regular 4.4.2 Knox version available at sammobile.
BEFORE TO FLASH
Get a custom recovery, cuz this ROM comes without any recovery.
Why?
Because at the time I was testing it I kept my custom recovery to see if I could reuse it with Kit Kat, and since it worked, and since I don't want to loose again 24 hours to upload an other ROM with a recovery, you'll have to go like this.
There are plenty of custom recoveries on the forum, as for me I use that one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415294
but you can use any one you like, it doesn't matter as long as it has been installed BEFORE to flash Kit Kat.
Edit
If for some reasons you want to stick to stock recovery head to post #5, I've attached it there with some instructions.
THE FLASH
Download the ROM, unrar it and you'll get a tar.md5 file.
Open ODIN 3.04, put the file in the PDA section.
On your phone, enter download mode (press volume down and start at the same time), then connect it to your computer.
Once it has been recognized by Odin (it gets blue on the left upper case) start the flash.
It will take approx 5 mns before it reboots, that's it.
If everything goes ok it will reboot twice and then it will enter the set up wizard.
It could be that some app forces close and that it reboots one more time, in that case you'll have to enter recovery and format /data (and since you have a custom recovery you can do so without erasing your sd card contents).
ROOT
Easy, download the latest SuperSU_1.94.zip from the master chainfire, flash it from recovery, reboot, voila.
REMOVING THE LAST KNOX TRACES:
This has to be done manually (I could have done it and repacked/uploaded a new pre rooted ROM with everything done but sorry, my connection is too slow )
There are some Knox apps in the /system/app folder and in the system/priv-app folder:
-the ones that have Knox in their name are easy to guess;
-one is called KLMSAgent and should be deleted as well, and so too ContainerAgent.apk, ContainerAgent.odex, ContainerEventsRelayManager.apk and ContainerEventsRelayManager.odex.
In the /system/lib folder delete libknoxdrawglfunction.so.
Delete completely the system/preloadedkiosk folder and the system/preloadedsso folder.
In data/data delete the com.sec.knox.seandroid folder and the com.sec.knox.store, and the other com.sec.knox whatever folders there are.
Enjoy!!!:silly:
Stay tuned, in the coming days I will put some mods here...
I already made a deodexed version but I don't think I will upload it since it takes too long (24 hours again), so if anyone with a better connection feels like doing it he or she is welcome!

It took (only) 15 mns to upload (not bad for a 10 mb file )...
Download the file, open Odin 3.04, put the file in PDA, flash, now you have KK's stock recovery, boooooo:laugh:

@bnb25
nope, you can't flash the ROM from recovery.
If some people are interested I can upload the deodexed version in the coming days when I have time, unless someone else does it before
I flashed somr stock rooted Rom awhile ago on the gf's phone. I been waiting on this update b4 doing anything. The phone acts up. Performance issues. She keeps ot close to full. Moving to sdcard doesn't work anymore. (That broke b4 filling the phone up. But didn't know that when we bought a 16gb sdcard.) So....thus has knox removed. You mentioned stock recovery as an option. You mean the stock kitkat recovery for the phone? Meaning that will introduce knox if you choose it? And if you do choose stock recovery with knox it can be rooted right? Just saying cause usually when first comes out it takes a lil time for someone to root it.

can you troubleshoot this problem?

sorry for my bad english...
Works fine for me. I had latest official 4.2.2 rom; I then flash a custom recovery and a rooted rom before I flash this rom via odin. After flashing this rom, I wiped it factory reset. All is well for me. 24hrs now. Thumbs up me general.....

the recovery I attached is the stock KK recovery, and AFAIK it doesn't have Knox in it. About rooting a Knox cursed ROM, some people say it's easy but I don't have any personal experience on that matter.
But anyway, why don't you want to use a custom recovery?
I kept the CWM I had on 4.2.2, and after I upgraded to 4.4.2 it took me 2 minutes to root with Chainfire's SuperSu_1.94.zip...
So now I'm on Knox free KK, with custom recovery and root.
@congquer:
do a full factory reset and see if it helps.

Well the girl is like any other nooby internet user. She knows enough to get it infected over and over....lol. Knox actually helps a lil with that. I used to use my phone (Note 3) to check questionable sites out for clients. Knox would do its pop ups alerting me to there being something going on that I do not want. It has actually helped....weird thing sort of. Now of course it doesn't do that anymore but for her......it might lower my headaches if you know what I mean?
But...no I'm about to try it out now anyways after I backup her phone.

This step right here causes the same boot loop mentioned. An app forces closes just like you said. soon as you format /data after a reboot it goes into a boot loop. I am also using TWRP 2.7
You have to clear cache not data. Even with that alot of apps just force close.

Well it didn't work for me. And the supersu only caused freezing then reboot. I just went and flashed stock. Maybe I'll root it later. The process also messed with the sdcard. Made it unreadable. So I used an app (Called Photorec) to recover some of the files from the 16gb sdcard she has.

whenever I want to delete knox from system/app, it always failed to delete.

@ninja_unmatched:
your girl seems to be like mine, willy to use the phone but messing it all the time, and then calling her man to fix it:cyclops:.
But you are worse tham me cuz you use her phone as a guinea pig!
The problem with SuperSu is that at first you can't install it a a system app.
In order to fix this you'll need either twrp recovery or aroma file manager ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108 ) and do as follows:
-download SuperSu zip,
-extract the app from the zip but keep the zip intact,
-flash the SuperSu zip,
-do not reboot but go to your file system while still in recovery, either from the twrp menu or by flashing the aroma file manager file,
-delete SuperSu from the system/app folder,
-reboot,
-install the SuperSu apk manually as you would with any apk.
Now you are rooted, and your SuperSu being on your data/app folder it doesn't force close anymore.
Later you can convert SuperSu into a system app from the apk's settings.
But this force close is a problem on KK, cuz everytime an app FC (not only SuperSu) the phone reboots, pretty annoying and definitely a deal breaker for me.
The messing with the files is another problem, it's because somehow KK uses another format than JB. But this one is easy to overcome, just connect your phone to your computer and copy the files to it, or you can copy them from recovery/aroma file manager (that's what I did, at first I thought it was gone but nope, it's just a format stoy) to anywhere on your phone.
@fpage:
I'm happy for you if everything works:good:
@serpentlord:
salaam manis dari Jowo!
Are you rooted? Sorry if the question sounds obvious, but if you are then deleting the Knox apks shouldn't be a problem.
Otherwise if it doesn't work, use aroma file manager (see above, and don't forget to push thanks for @amarullz our dev from Bandung!) and delete the Knox stuff from within recovery.
That said I went back to 4.2.2, this KK is plagued with bugs and I don't like the new multi windows implementation, so until they make a more stable version and until I find out whether I can implement some of JB's multi windows functions in it or not I'll stick to 4.2.2...
I'll make soon a thread about specific KK's bugs, hopefully sammy will listen but don't hold your breath
A guinea pig....lol. yeah. Only thing I ever did was flash a stock 4.2.2 rooted Rom. For wifi tethering purposes. It was fine for awhile. She starts complaining about it....I find she filled the thing up. Apps, apps, apps, mad games. I move some of the apps to the 8gb card. That helped. Later she fills it up again. I get a 16gb card and then find out it won't move anything to the card. Broke that somewhere after the 8gb card move. She goes on facebook and clicks on those questionable site posts and jave you sign up while giving them permission to post on your profile and all sorts if sites I find are questionable. That and apps from blackmart and from that site that offers hacked android games/apps.
So far now she seems fine on the stock official 4.4.2. It has a few widgets and apps in Russian. I've seen a few bugs that clear up on their own.
1. The lock screen took a bit to update. (What I mean is this. I know when playing music will say Milk it will show also on the lock screen. It wasn't doing that. Had to reboot to get that going.)
2. There is an app called Wish. It allows you to send something you think another person would be interested in that also has wish. That feature doesn't work to well. You can choose facebook or google+. FB no work at all. I think that is some other reason for that one. Google+ works but only if you choose the regular browser. Through chrome the page doesn't pop up woth the option to use the app to open the link.
And generally I've just run into these lil quarks that eventually just start working. Or partially work enough to get by.

And my device also keep restarting every 10 minutes. Is it a bug?
@ninja_unmatched:
I can't tell about this wish.apk and widgets, at the time I was still on 4.4.2 I had stripped the Rom down to only about 20 system apps.
I allways do this on my ROMs cuz I don't like stock apps, I rather uninstall all that stuff and replace it by third part apps that are easier to manage and not so much on the spying/bloatware side...
@serpentlord:
what happens is probably that you have an app that forces closes, and this is what makes the phone reboot. I had the same problem and in my case it was youtube, in your case it could be any other app.
Just start your phone and keep an eye on it until it says "sorry app whatever has closed". Then if it reboots you know from wish app it comes and you can uninstall it and/or replace it with another app or another version from the same app.
Hey Guys,
I have a couple questions about this android box I purchased that's had me somewhat puzzled.
I have been an avid android user over the past many years. I am familiar with flashing tons of roms to all the phones I have had. Except my s6, it just sucks for roms. Anyways I have purchased the android box in this link (can't post links this new) I can't seem to fine a manufacturer website, I've Google a million things about the box and searched but I can't find anything. even in the instruction book there's no website or anything.
basically I'm looking to figure out how to at least update this box. there's no option in about device. also I don't like how the flash drive on the device is split into nand flash and regular storage. I would like to merge them all into one. I am also looking for custom roms that might enable me to achieve that, however nowhere I look has this box in their forums or anywhere. maybe it's a cloned box? there are other boxes that have the exact same components (or so they say) with custom firmware, however I don't want to chance it and rich bricking this device.
anyone that can offer any help or lead me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance!

I just picked up one of these about a week ago and found instructions to install TWRP and update SuperSU. The box had 'root' out of the box but it was some specialized root based on an old version of SuperSU (1.93 I believe).
I have successfully installed TWRP 2.8.7.0 and updated to SuperSU 2.46.
Since this is just an android tablet essentially, does anyone know if you can flash these ROMs through TWRP?
Not to my knowledge, just use above tool. It will go alive once you are in bootloader with usb otg cable connected to win (of course with driver pack etc. installed). Titanium or else can do that, instead of trying to press reset button while powering on. Of course recovery will go back to default.

Are you running liamstears custom ROM or the 12/22 factory firmware?
The split internal storage is something I would like to do without, but I was wondering if it was changed on the 12/22 factory firmware?
12/22 firmware. Fast and stable.
Havent tried liamstears yet. Feedback if you do please.
awesome thanks! thats what I suspected when I was going through the firmwares for these devices. I just wasn't sure if the z4 rk3368 device would work on this one. I've seen a few brands with z4 and as I know with phones.. wrong brand and you're bricked lol. anyways.. I ended up buying a tronsmart vega s95 telos.. but it didn't come rooted. so I rooted it and now I'm getting play services force close and all sorts of bugs and errors.. maybe I'll just keep the z4. it seems to work better.
what link did you follow to get twrp installed?? same thing I'm guessing, punch z4 twrp in google and eventually come upon the right place.
12/22 factory firmware? mines stuck at Nov 10 I think.. it won't let me update using the rk settings app.. which is why I was fed up with it in the first place lol.
12/22 firmware. Unified 16gb App storage. More available with microsd card. Fully functional Kodi with channels, etc. 4k HEVC x265 movies. Youtube 1080p.
Easiest method to update rom is to put extracted update.img from zip file
http://chinagadgetsreviews.blogspot.ro/2016/01/download-latest-android-lollipop-511.html?m=1
on a sdcard / usb and boot. After about a minute into the Android desktop, system will ask for update prompt. Only applicable to system still with default recovery.
If you have some stability issues or with different recovery, you can backup your apps / data with Titanium etc. and then use above Factory tool restore new rom.
These roms usually come with their own recovery, but some modded ones with TWRP/full root, supersu and all. But you dont really need them.
thanks a lot man! I'm downloading right now and will test it on my box tomorrow after work!
I've tried 100 times and it just keeps saying failed to mount /mnt/external_sd (no such device)
I'm using my USB flash drive.
this is becomming a huge pain in the just to update I'm starting to think why this company can make these products and not have any support or anything for it . and that flash tool is in mandarin and I can't even figure out how to work that. I put in the update.img and press go.. but whenever I try to boot to download mode like you mentioned in one of the posts it just turns off the box.. this thing is literally a piece of junk. and so is this tronsmart vega s95.. same thing. it's extremely frustrating. whoever developed this z4 box did a really chappy job on the firmware.. and I do not recommend it to anyone..
If you had gone through the instructions pdf, it clearly shows how to change into English by pressing the World icon. Remember in bootloader mode the tv screen would be black, if you are using the tool. The big red button will turn into green to show readiness.
For automatic update you dont even have to go into recovery as seen in attached image. Easiest.
Hi Roland,
love to see that there are already XDA-members looking at the Z4 TV box. I have just ordered one and hope to get it within a few weeks. Just some dumb questions, hoping you can provide me with some information:
- I see that there are several 'versions' of the Z4: for instance Acemax, but I have ordered the Andoer. Are those just different manufacturers?
- Are there any differences in model/content (installed app's) per manufacturer?
- If my Andoer turned out to have an older firmware than the 22/12, could I still use the Acemax 22/12 firmware you refered to in your link?
- Kodi will be preinstalled, I saw. I do not know what version of Kodi that will be, but can it just be updated to the most recent version in the Google Play Store?
- I do not know what other apps are installed, but is it possible to de-install apps you do not need, or are they part of the firmware and impossible to delete
I know, part of the answers I surely will discover once I got the Z4, but I just can't wait to start experimenting, even it is only in my mind
Thanks in advance!
Jos
hi Roland
I tried that batch tool first which is the one I couldn't change languages in lol. but the other tool with the red button I changed into English. however I did not know that it would remain blank when in download mode. I will have to give it one more go tonight with it. I figured that I loaded it into bootloader and the z4 box light turned red so I thought it was off and didn't load to bootloader.
I also did the USB update and it would just fail on me every time I used it. the update prompt did come up and I pressed install. perhaps I need to check if USB debugging is on. I think it is but it wouldn't hurt to check. but I think I will have to go through the factory tool to update way for sure.
thanks for your help roland, I will write back after I give it another go tonight!
i can't find the 22/12 update ! can anybody share the link direct to firmware ?
@DriftJos
l have got an Andoer too. Most of these brands come from the same hardware factory and thus have the same specs/apps.
Yes you will use the same firmware https://mega.nz/#!JBBXgDgC!VSra8Hc6KR77Pvdw67eDpjeT_ku-TXdYgYaInSAfyvU (direct link @prisim) or several user dev roms. Unified 16gb app storage etc and the works.
You can uninstall bundled Kodi (by Titanium free etc.) by official Kodi Jarvis 16.0 beta 5 & such with pass-through support test builds @ http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=252852
Again you will be able to uninstall useless apps directly or through Titanium.

Always mention the firmware version you are having and which recovery? The automatic update should work if you still have the factory recovery.
Check the FactoryTool process in attached images.
I'm trying to flash the firmware that I downloaded from that China gadgets site that was mentioned on this thread. I think it's the stock 12/22 for the device. and I have stock recovery.
I extracted the update.exe file and saved it to my USB drive plugged it in and restarted. relieved the update prompt. chose install update and it rebooted into recovery and tried to apply the update but it fails. I'm not ready to give up yet with this device lol. it's just another platform I have to learn. it took me a bit with smartphones to figure it out back in the day.. perhaps it's the same thing now..
and I'm updated to 12/22.. awesome. those pictures really helped me man thanks.
now as for installing twrp and all that. you mentioned that it's not really needed? I'm assuming I can flash any rom given they are in .img format using factory tool. however the benefit of twrp would be an easier interface for creating nandroid backups and clearing cache/factory reset. perhaps I will install it. i might give leamstears rom a try. I will let you know how it is if I do.
thanks again!
so I updated to the new 12/22.. everything works fine except with Google play store.. I keep getting a can't retrieve source error with everything I try to download. I've refreshed and factory reset the firmware 5 times now and kept trying.
so I got fed up with the stock so I tried leamstears rom and it works great.. except sometimes it just becomes completely unresponsive. I'm starting to think there is something wrong with this box. even on stock firmware from the box I've been having issues with unresponsive freezing.
what do you think of the nvidia shield?

The PlayStore error you were seeing is because the 12/22 firmware comes with a *very* old version (5.2.x). The PlayStore will eventually update everything to the latest version by itself but if you don't want to wait, go over to apkmirror.com and download PlayStore 6.0.5 and install it manually. Once you do, it should also update the Play Services to 8.4.x and your should be good to go. I had this issue as well but I had seen it before and knew I needed to update.
So far the 12/22 version has been great, and having the unified internal storage is a huge plus.
If you feel so inclined, knowing that some of the custom builds of Kodi take up a large amount of space... there is this trick that was introduced in Helix:
http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Change data location for Android
This will allow you to have only the Kodi app on internal storage (~125 MB) and any data from addons/programs etc. in another location (such as an external SD).
I often
1. Install Kodi on internal storage
2. Zip up the contents of org.xbmc.com directory
3. Copy it to external storage
4. Unzip it in /external_sd/kodi_data
5. Create the xbmc_env.properties file that references my Kodi data location.
6. Delete the contents of /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.com/
Voila! You have freed up internal storage.... You can also persist a Kodi setup this way or run multiple custom installs. If you re-image your media box, you can re-install Kodi and as long as the xbmc_env.properties points to your external_sd with your Kodi data, it will start right up back into your setup... :good:
