I've tried everything. (It feels like at least)
Here's my phones info. Just tell me what needs to be done so CWM or Phliz or TWRP is put on my phone. Sorry if this is coming off kinda crabby, I'm just frustrated is all.
Model Number: VS985 4G
Android OS: 5.0.1
Software Version : VS98523C
Build Number: LRX21Y
Rooted: Yes
Verizon Phone with AT&T Sim Card. ( Yeah I know 4g limits and not that same band, or something)
Please let me know if you need anymore information about the device.
Also, I get the "secure boot error" a lot when I attempt to install recoveries.
I'm no stranger to ADB or anything, but I just can't figure this one out.
A million thank you's if we figure this out.
The only way I could flash a successful recovery on my vs985 was to use the app on Google play store. You can get a link via the new all in one tool here on the forums or search the play store for vs985 arec. Install it and be patient while it does its thing. Let it do its thing and it'll tell you when it's ready. Flash, reboot, and you'll have TWRP.
Just wanted to note that to find it in the Play Store, search for
Code:
autorec VS985
[VK810.4G] [altev] [ViKtory810ROM] official LG G Pad 8.3 Lollipop 35A_08 5.0.2
[VK810.4G] [altev] official LG G Pad 8.3 Lollipop 35A_08 5.0.2 DEBLOAT SCRIPTS and copies of all the files they remove
[VK810.4G] [altev] OTAs, .IMGs and KDZs, oh my
I was having same issues as op and it was driving me insane. Spent a few days trying to figure it out. Ended up coming across the arec app posted above and it worked perfectly. Def give it a try.

I tried autorec and it said it flashed and was good to go. When I tried to go to recovery it obviously had not worked right because it reset everything. I'm sure it was because I had not done something right when I was setting up ADB for root. I had trouble with both 1 click methods for root and recovery. Anyway, what worked easily for me was to download file from the Bump thread, installed flashify app, then flashed it. Google bump flashify, and watch the xda tv video by Jared.
The only way i was able to do it was to do it in Flashify. Then i use quickboot to get into recovery.
I tried the autorec app and everytime it completes and i reboot my phone its bricked into a security error.

No. Maybe an accessibility setting or G3TweakBox?

Don't have Xposed installed and no tweaking. Would a factory reset and then restore with TB help?

I would expect it to, just don't restore System Data. I would be tempted to reflash the ROM, too. Hopefully wherever that setting is changed isn't sync'd with Google. There's a "Reset settings" option too, you could try that although I've never used that before, but might be quicker/easier than a full Factory Reset if it works. I'd try it with WIFI/Data off so that whatever it does doesn't sync to Google so at least some of your preferred settings are sync'd back after the Factory Reset and putting in your credentials.
Thanks for the suggestions. I just did the Reset Settings option and it still happens. Would it be better to reinstall SD 4.0 or do a factory reset?
You're welcome.
I think it would be best to wipe data, cache, system and Dalvik them reflash the ROM of your choice. If that doesn't solve it, I would use LG Flash Tool 2014 to flash the 23C KDZ in CSE mode (wipes your internal storage too) and see if it happens then. If not, then root, install TWRP, then try your ROM again.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

did everything in the instructions and it said root successful however when i reboot there is no supersu and says that its not successful under root checker. as far as i can tell everything went fine. sofware version VS98524b. is there something I'm missing? tried all the trouble shooting i could find including disabling the verifying apps over usb. tried both versions of the rooting program as well. the old one went all the way while the newer one got stuck at 90% and on the download screen on my phone.
One click doesn't work on 24B.
The only way to root 24B is to flash the 12B KDZ, then take the OTA first to 23C, then to 24B, then use the "new root method" (thread title similar to that) in the non-variant specific LG G3 sections in the General sub-section.

So to preface my question, I originally forced an update to lollipop and left it alone for months. I just reflashed to stock and took all the OTAs up to 24B, and rooted the phone with the one click method. After this, I am a little confused as to where to go. I used to have an S3 and I flashed new ROMS on the phone weekly, but I don't even know how to get TWRP onto this phone to begin flashing ROMS. Whats the next step? If anybody could drop a link to a guide or maybe just point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!
First, you used the one click root on 24B? Reason I ask is no one had reported that working with 24B, and I couldn't either, but the "new root method" did, otherwise just like you said, by OTAing from 12B through 24B.
You have the SuperSU app and it doesn't report that binaries can't be updated?
Maybe it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
To get TWRP on (I feel your pain because I had come from the S3 last November), it's much easier than it used to be. Used to have to manually downgrade your bootloader first. In the Play Store, search for
Code:
autorec VS985
That'll install TWRP on it and replace your bootloader.

I've tried several different methods for rooting my phone and none of them have been successful.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
they all say they're successful but I'm still unable to flash TWRP or do anything that requires root access. I've tried multiple times (each method) with different cables and after rebooting the computer multiple times as well.
I have the Verizon LG G3 (VS985) on Android 5.0.1
I was successful with the second method on this page Download the file New_LG_Root_v0.1_by_dig.zip at the bottom of the page and the follow the instructions on the page. It helped to expand all of the "click to show content" buttons to follow the instructions. Good luck I the same VS985 on 5.0.1 24B.
You could try the Verizon lg g3 All-in-one Toolkit. It is in the Verizon lg g3 General.
I am correct in that the latest Verizon OTA can be reverted to 10b, then be proceeded to root, recovery, ROM, etc?

Yes.

So, I'm just a little bit confused about something and was hoping someone could clear it up for me.
I'm coming off of 35B (total mistake, don't take that OTA); I've just downgraded to complete stock firmware (10B) using the .TOT method. I've also ran stumproot successfully and have root. Now, my next step is to flash TWRP, but here's my question:
I've seen a few different instructions stating "this file is not for Lollipop devices" or "not for KitKat devices"... I'm just a little unsure if different versions of TWRP are going to affect whether or not I'm able to flash Lollipop ROMs (stock or AOSP, doesn't matter). I was told to flash the newest JasmineROM to make it all the way up to 5.1.1, but I'm a little confused as to whether you simply shouldn't flash a KitKat TWRP on Lollipop devices, or if you shouldn't flash a Lollipop TWRP on KitKat devices (if there is a such thing as either).
So, in a nutshell, can I flash the absolute newest version of TWRP for VS985 on my 10B device, flash the newest JasmineROM right away, then proceed to flash any Lollipop ROM I want?
Can anyone elaborate?
Yes, you can. I used TWRP Manager under 10B to get the latest TWRP.
