Hello I got a USB gender change: A-Female to A-Female so that i could connect a self powered USB Hub to my Archos.
So far i have connected a self power Hard Disk directly into my Archos 70.
Didn't pick it up.
A mouse in the USB Hub.
Didn't pick it up.
A pen drive directly.
Didn't pick it up.
Is the Archos 70 locked down or does the USB Micro B connector they have on the Archos 70 work different?
I thought USB was a universal connector!
... one thing you have to realize is the device needs drivers to work those devices. you just cannot flip flop the connector and expect everything to work. tipically unless the device has a INPUT port which is a standard usb port not a micro or mini 5 or an old 1.1 usb connector it wont work.
Alot of those hongkong micro a to b converters are rubbish.
The nokia has been reported to work.
You need a USB "HOST" Cable, it contains a chip that puts your devices on "master" mode.
The Nokia and Archos one work, for the others don't expect them to work at all if they do not mention to be USB "HOST" cables !
BTW, the feedback is not very good, seems that it can deliver only 200mA, so if you want to plug an external disk drive, make sure you have a power supply on it before
Also some USB keys need more than 200mA so they won't mount at all :/
I found this: http://www.kjell.com/content/templa...9&path=97000000,119000000,149500000,151500000
Translation: Used by for example mobile phones with USB host (it's own built in USB controller).
Is the USB "HOST" Cable the same as this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_On-The-Go

That cable doesn't look correct.
[correction - that cable at kjell looks correct for hooking two USB On-The-Go devices together. So if you wanted to hook your Archos to another Archos or to a blackberry.]
Look for a micro usb Nokia n810 host cable. Or "Micro USB Host OTG". They seem widely available in the us on eBay
Usually they have the micro USB male connector and a full size female connector on the other. Be careful because some are mini USB, you want micro USB
Look on the us eBay for a picture.
Here is a pretty good picture also - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.51045 several people have confirmed this one works.
Yeah, the connector is obviously wrong on that one. I was mostly curios about whether this USB HOST cable was the same as an OTG.
That's the only cable of OTG type that I've seen in any retail store in Sweden (although I haven't been looking for it until now), so I was thinking of maybe getting it in the store and then get an adapter for the connector. But since there's a special pinning on these cables (as I understand from the Wikipedia article) maybe that doesn't work?
I'll probably go for the Nokia cable anyway, just to be sure, should be able to find it in a retail store somewhere...

this works fine on my 32IT. I can use my microSD adapter, camera, powered hard drive, multi-card reader with SD cards and USB mouse. Other people have said they can't get USB host to work at all, even with this cable, but it works for me.
USB mouse works ok.
But it`s not enought power for 3G USB dongles.... Печалька.
Nokia ones works ok

Hi! all. need to find out if its possible to use a USB hub to attach 2 or 3 thumbdrive all at once so that i can copy & paste files from one thumbdrive to another.
maybe a powered hub. I just tested a non-powered hub and the minute i plugged a usb 4GB flash drive in I got that error about a "high powered USB device".

I confirm, powered hub is working well.
Yeah, I have a 3 port USB dock with SD Card + micro reader for the Tab family. I think you need those specially-made docks for use with the Tab family. Normal USB ports won't work due to the different 30-pin cable that Samsung uses.
Link Please
I have seen multiple adaptors but they only work for image files and certainly do not have multiple USB inputs.
Could you please supply a link for the accessory you describe or, if that is not possible, the name of the device and/or the manufacturer.
Thanks

Sounds great! From where you purchased that 3 port USB dock? Can you pass me the link showing its photograph and place to buy?
Thanks buddy!
I'm pretty sure Nokia 7+ supports OTG.
I have an Aukey USB 3.0 A to C adapter into which I've plugged an Anker USB 3. 0 card reader. The phone does not recognise this as storage. Should it and, if so, what am I doing wrong, please?
maybe your reader don't support OTG mode? i have https://www.kingston.com/en/flash/readers/fcr-ml3c and working fine without any settings or 3rd apps...
after put is USB, in status bar i see usb icon, in notification i see "USB Drive" with buttons Explore and Eject, after click on Explore a see files on microSD in USB reader and mp3 from it is played ok...

Thanks. That's very helpful. How does one establish if a reader supports OTG? I need an SD card reader so can I assume the fcr-mlg4 will also work?
now i noticed, then you write about separate USB-A->C adapter and USB-A card reader... then i think not be problem with card reader (this not need support OTG if used with (right/working) OTG cable/adapter), but with your USB-A->C adapter, maybe not support OTG or is broken... can you try in this adapter put another USB Flash? and put in N7+ (after USB Flash putted to adapter)

then i think aukey adapter not suport OTG and is only for use with PC/Apple with USB-C conector... try buy another adapter, i don't post link to ebay because i don't know if adapter for $1 from china with OTG in description really have OTG support or is mistake/lying... try buy some from your local/country_eshop store with verifing with on vendor site or with shop support that is really with OTG... i see on me country eshop for example "Akasa AK-CBUB25-15BK" and vendor say is have OTG support, but sure you find also another...
edit: sorry i write akasa model with microUSB, this is with USB-C "Akasa AK-CBUB30-15BK"
http://www.akasa.com.tw/search.php?seed=AK-CBUB30-15BK
for this vendor not say OTG support, but have photo with phone/tablet, then i think OTG supported (and in description in me country eshop in description is OTG support)
OTG
Thanks k3dar7.
It had never occurred to me that a USB-C to USB-A adapter wouldn't have OTG support. I've ordered one from Amazon that, hopefully, will do the trick.
Many thanks for your help.

Just received AUKEY USB C Adapter to USB A ( 2 Pack ) with OTG USB Type C Converter https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074K38QC7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 from Amazon and it works perfectly with OTG. I'm now very happy, thanks!
Hi
I want to get my 6T to read SD Cards from a trail cam. I purchased one from UGreen and it has almost no instructions. I can't get it to work. I did put the phone in OTG mode. I had to use an adapter from Micro USB to USB Type C. There is no indication that it is connecting. Any ideas?
If anyone has been able to do this on the 6T, even if it means buying a new adapter, let me know how.
Thanks
John
Do you have OTG storage enabled in system settings?
"OTG storage" is enabled. Are there any other OTG settings that also need to be set?
You need an OTG cable. That should work since that's how I transferred all of my photos from my micro SD card (in a card reader) to my 6T. I doubt directly plugging the card reader via adapter would work.
1. Buy a OTG microSDHC card reader.
2.Check the tipe of the files on card.
The unit is OTG but it has an micro USB fitting and I am using a micro USB to USB Type C adapter. Could that be the problem? I don't see how, the adapter should be straight through. I don't think it is a file issue, the 6T does not even see card. I might just try another reader.
use the app WiFi explorer, and you can transfer anything and everything wirelessly, via wifi..those files on your sd card need to be on another computer or somewhere they can be "seen"..
This one has been working great for me. I've used an older otg micro to A adapter with no problems before though. Could just be a faulty adapter on your end.
Yaotl, I can't figure out anything else but the reader. I think I will give the Anker reader you suggested a try.
Thanks for the help,
John
I purchased another reader. Works perfectly. Thanks for all the help. Especially, Yaotl.
Has anyone tried to use USB OTG? can the normal Micro USB version work in view of the VOOC 3 or need special adapters?
Oh, it works perfectly with any normal OTG. However, you need to switch on the option every time.
Normal OTG is not inserting in my phone.

The normal micro usb is not inserting in my phone's port as the VOOC charger usb is different from the normal one.

I have tried NORMAL OTG WITH USB 2.0 IT WORKS PERFECTLY .
I think first we need to define which micro USB type is considered 'normal' here.
AFAIK, the one should be called 'normal' is the non-reversible one. And all Realme 3 Pro variants use this non-reversible type.
But since OP insist that his Realme 3 Pro's USB port is different than his 'normal', we can assume that his previous phones were always with micro USB type-C (reversible) and he thought that it was the 'normal' type. And I assume that his OTG drive also a type-C.
Finally, to answer OP's question: yes; any OTG drives work on Realme 3 Pro, but after connecting the drive you need to activate the OTG connection via Settings. If your OTG drive is using type-C, there should be some adapters available on online shops. Though usually its the other way around; the adapter is for phones with type-C port but the OTG drive is the non-reversible one.
So any micro-usb cable should work ? , guess i need to check with more cables , the one which i checked didn't work [non-official usb cable]
Gamepads do not work
Micro USB OTG adapters work nicely on realme 3 Pro: mice, keyboards, fans, LEDs, etc.
But I can't seem to get any wired gamepads to work. I have seen all sorts of videos on youtube but they don't work.
I tried to connect my gamepad through any of the two OTG adapters that i use my mouse to connect to. Even after enabling the "OTG Connection" option, the LED on my gamepad does not light up. (It lights up when i connect it to my pc)
I have an Enter E-GPV Gamepad by the way. (had it lying around, so gave it a try)
If anyone has any insight on this, or any kind of suggestion, they are welcome!
Nice to know otg have lots of uses
