Custom ROM for Small RAM - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Dear All
I have a tablet Hipstreet TiTan 2 The Memory is 512MB but I have only free memory of 180MB to run the application. I'm tired of the application crash. I"m looking for a custom rom that use less memory so I can run bigger apps. I don't mind if it is in lower version or less security. Now I'm on 4.4.2.

[Q] Rezound memory usage

Hey guys, first I want to say I'm new to android so forgive me I got my rezound today and am a bit concerned with the memory usage. I'm showing that the phone has 817 megs of memory (thought this was supposed to be 1 gig?) and i'm showing the usage at 683 and really don't have anything installed yet.
Is this normal? If it's not, how should I proceed to resolve this.
Thanks!
In android, memory is used differently. Unused ram in android is wasted ram. I know this is counter-intuitive but it is true. Having no free ram won't impact the performance because android intelligently keeps things in ram so that they can be opened for faster access. If ram is needed by an application, things are automatically closed to free up ram.
It's normal, I have 704MB in use and 141MB free. Once we have perm-root and can debloat, I expect some more memory to free up.
You can also launch "Task Manager" and see what processes are running.
Keep in mind, Sense uses a LOT of RAM to operate.
Once the phone is debloated, a ROM is flashed that gets rid of most, if not all, of Sense, you can expect anywhere from 300-500 megs of RAM free.
I use fast reboot from the market and I consistantly have 390-415 mbs free.
I'm not asking in terms of memory usage, but do we really only have 817 megs of ram? Might as well call it 756 instead of 1024. Or is there ram being used by the system that doesn't show up there? Again, I know how android caches apps, I just want to see if the actual total ram is correct?

[Q] Percentage of RAM used

I've got my device for one day already.
This is my first Sony Android phone and ... compared with my previous HTC old phone, Z2 is perfect.
However I find that the ram usage is terrible. There is only 1.1GB free RAM just after the device is booted up.
That means... the phone has used 1.6~7 GB RAM before I open the browser or games.
Quite ridiculous...
Is it normal? or what can I do for more free RAM
I don't think it's a problem but a good thing. Android has a smart/good RAM management. That means apps are kept in RAM until other apps need more. If you don't like you can try in developer option to play with "don't keep activities" and background process limit".
Right, you want your phone to use as much RAM as it can, this is a good thing. Also notice, the "unused" portion of RAM is also used to cache certain processes android believes you use often or will need. All of this is to speed up access to those applications as much as possible.
Take note on this
What is shown as free ram in linux is actualy freeable ram, your actual free ram is about 5mb
Linux has the motto of free ram wasted ram so when you have around 200mb freeable when your total is 3GB then there is a problem

[Q] Lg L9 II ROM and RAM with Android 4.4.2

Hi everybody, I'm Gabri, I've bought this nice Lg L9 II and I need help
The phone is branded, and out of the box I found already installed in it Android 4.4.2.
After having stopped and disabled the unwanted brand apps, I checked the resources and I had a bad surprise. Considering that the specs are 1GB of RAM and 8 GB of ROM, I have only 240 free MB of RAM and 3.07 GB of ROM available. And I haven't even installed any app or started to use the phone. Is it normal?
Thank you four your help / advices guys.
Yes it's normal. The 8 GB storage is divided in two partitions, 4 GB each. One for the android system and one for apps, music, photos etc. The pre-installed apps are using 1 GB of the second partition so you have 3 GB available.
As for the RAM many apps start running by default when the the phone boots (keyboard, dialer, sms, maps, weather etc) and the system automatically stops some of this apps to free RAM when needed to run other apps.
thank you l3t0m,
this makes me think that kitkat is very eager of resources, so how is it possible that you can find kitkat also in devices with only 4GB of ROM and 512MB of RAM? considering that my phone has 8GB and 1GB and more than half of both are already taken by the system....
One more question: the used RAM memory is 523MB (even if the processes in the list of the active apps do not reach that amount of occupied RAM at all), and the free RAM is only 240MB... so where is the rest of memory necessary to have a total amount of 1GB??
Sorry for such a kind of questions, maybe the everyday experience with the device is still satisfying and one should not worry about this stuff (yet I don't have a direct comparison with previous android versions in my device), but I simply would like to understand if everything is ok or maybe I need to changes something to have the best possible experience with this nice L9 II.
Thank you!
The devices with 4 GB ROM have about 1,5 GB available for the user which is obviously not so much considering that many popular apps are taking up to 100 mb and if you use a GPS navigator the maps also need some hundreds mb of storage to be downloaded on your device. Add to this the frequent app updates and the photos/videos you shoot with the 8MP/1080p camera and you will be out of storage.
I think that 8 GB is the minimum you need to have the best experience with a device like the L9 II.
I have no idea why the rest of the 1 GB RAM is not showing (that's happening on my device also), maybe someone with more technical knowledge could explain this. Anyway, as far as the device works fine (and it does!) there is no reason to worry about.

How to update Android 4.4 Kitkat. to Android 5.0 Lollipop for iBall Slide DD-1GB.

Hello!
I have an iBall slide DD-1GB tablet. I have Android version 4.4 Kitkat in it. But as many applications don’t support it I want to upgrade it to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
I have checked the OTA for update, but without success. Also, I have done a lot of searching on the Internet but i fail to get what I need.
I would be very thankful to you if u help me.
Pls!!!!!
@ItsHitesh
The tablet can be considered as heaviy outdated, when it comes to run today's apps/games.
IMHO it's not ready to get its Android upgraded to Android 5.x, this because tablet's hardware doesn't match the minimum hardware specs Android 5.1.1 and higher itself and apps / games require. Take note that Android 5.1.1 OS exclusively needs ~500MB RAM.
For example,
PUBG Mobile exclusively needs at minimum 2GB RAM and 2GB free storage space to run at lowest possible settings,
Call Of Duty Mobile exclusively needs at minimum 1.5GB RAM
Legends Of Lanterra exclusively needs 2GB RAM & 1.2GHz quad-core CPU
and so on - the list is endless ....

Question Ram Usage

Hey folks, I got my OP9R about 5 days back, 8GB RAM variant with 128GB storage. I got CPU-Z installed on it and to my surprise it shows that Free RAM available is only around 3GB with no apps running except CPU-Z. Is this Normal? Wheres the remaining 4.5GB done? I do know that the OS takes some and certain background apps take up some RAM as well but only 3GB available?
