Hey. Respect to the another one post about porting the Android Lollipop from another phone, I think that I know where is the problem...
So... I have had a Galaxy S2(i9100), and when some Developers stars creating ROMS based in 5.1 it was not possible to be installed because the CWM (recovery) was not compatible and the developers haves to update it using the code from another CWM from another phone that for the day can supports Android 5.1

Thank you!
Since it's the same msm8916
Code:
ro.chipname=MSM8916
Porting this to Grand Prime 3G and LTE shoouldn't be a problem.
Let's start with the port (but official LP for those variants shouldn't last any longer).

Ahh I misread. Did you get the SM-G530T rooted @allenjthomsen

Didnt root it at all

Hey there. Popping in to say that rooting this phone will be a difficulty. Remember that shiny new S6E that T-Mobile is selling? Updating it to 5.1.1/past 5.0.2 will enable /system block checks. So if you try to mess around with the system partition (even as to R/W mode), it will bootloop. You need to build a kernel that doesn't enforce block checking! http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...recovery-twrp2-8-6-0-g925t-5-1-1-of6-t3143002
Good luck! I like this device and I'll plan on picking it up soon.
Edit: it's possibly only enabled for Exynos...who knows, someone'll find out.

Talk about a huge pain... Glad the phone is more secure they haven't even released the source code for this kernel yet.
---------- Post added at 11:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 PM ----------
Actually once they release the source code for the kernel this shouldn't be too hard https://github.com/glewarne/S6-UniKernel_v6/commit/8daac6bb0b3bd07f6a7a9f3d529b430bfd12b1aa

I'm pleased to announce: Dear Customer,
We are pleased to provide you the source code of SM-G530T.
You can download the source code from the site below:
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=G530TUVU1AOF7

This phone has been rooted for a year now FYI

Pardon my not knowing @$#/ but how can I sink my bloatware and root my grand prime s-g530t? With all these number sentences... 3hatever they are?

[Q] Difference in partition sizes between regular and gpe edition

Hi, I wanted to ask what exactly are the differences in partition sizes between the regular ultra and the gpe edition?
I have a prototype and need to flash an ftf file, but I don't know if the partition table of any of them is compatible with my prototype. How can I check it? I pulled a partition layout through adb, here it is:
Code:

The imei was starting with 0044, was - because after flashing a rom i lost it. I can't supply any photos, because the built-in camera is the only one i own right now, my backup phone is a nokia 6310i... I need to flash an ftf file, to get the imei back.
