I updated my 925f to 5.1.1, and now parallax is gone! It's the feature that makes the wallpaper move with a "3D-effect". I had it in 5.0.2, but on my 5.1.1 it's gone. There's supposed to be an option to turn it on/off in settings to change wallpaper, but it's not there and the effect is turned off. Anyone that knows how to turn it on again??

You have to use the stock Launcher for it to appear. Otherwise, the switch won't be seen.

I found out why it disappeared from my edge, I disabled Samsung keyboard. It needs to be there. I'm currently using Xperia keyboard, perfect I musy say! Just don't uninstall Samsung keyboard, or parallax will dissappear.

There's nothing doomed about it...check out your RAM usage..it should have improved because the wallpaper motion is no longer there...

I'm trying to find out when parallax breaks. Yesterday it disappeared again, and that happened when I removed the simple home launcher. So the launchers and the stock keyboard has to be installed for it to work. I'm on the latest OGA/OG8 fw, flashed with Odin and factory reset. Parallax works without a glitch. So it's not "officially" broken on latest 5.1.1, but it seems like it's easy to break it if you remove system apps. I have removed all Knox with Titanium Backup, but haven't touched Knox with Root Explorer. Last time I did it ended up with bootloop.
As i noticed it happened to me after i updrage to 5.1.1 via OTA and i havent did anything at all even install new launcher.pls telle if u find the proper solution

Working fine on 5.1.1 on UK BTU firmware
Parallax was not broken in 5.1.1 update but the update that came in after this.

Can confirm our two S6's (dutch, no branding) have lost parallax after 5.1.1 update.
Both devices had no special settings whatsoever and I even did a factory reset on one s6 (had to, update 5.1.1 resulted in a boot loop) with parallax still broken after that.
Samsung UK does not seem to be aware of this issue.
It's not working since 2nd 5.1.1 update

Hi after I have installed several apps , played with the input and phone languages, installed a new keyboard, and ultimatelly received this "unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" error the effects when I click on an icon on the screen are gone, the wavy effect is just not there and I have searched the whole phone for solution.

The rom is the standard one that I reckon comes with the phone.
I haven't had modified anything apart from installing apps and updates.
The phone is not rooted in any way. Nor have I modded or inserted into the rom.
I have updated to jelly beans. And the latest applications I have installed are koffice, swift key, poker stars, and I am quite sure I have been changing settings but nothing visual.

Some of them are, but some I have downloaded in a different way if you know what I mean. Hopefully I haven't caught a virus or something like that. Now, a factory reset will erase all my data right? And what else?

A factory reset is better than resetting a factory i guess....
Factory reset really seems best.
Just make a backup of your apps (use titanium backup) and then restore them

that's interesting, because as far as I know, the ripple effect on the desktop (not the lockscreen) is not included in the stock ROM. are you sure you're not talking about the lock screen? you can enable the ripple effect by going to Settings - lock screen
Yeh I am sure. I'm sure that it was there for some time after I have updated the os. Then again I have installed a great deal of software which I think had made my wavy effect disappear?!
And can I do a backup of the apps with no root access I don't think it's a good idea to play an expert and damage the phone beyond repair. Thanks!

I realise that. But there's a lot of people who suggested all sorts of different ways doing the same thing. All in all if you flash the rom solely don't it enables root privileges in a more effective fashion..? Thanks!

The most effective fashion is the most complete one, not how you do it.
If youre speaking of flashing through odin modified parts of the rom so you can gain root access..then yes thats what i did (just look it up on youtube, make sure you write galaxy s3 international (if international version) and android version of your rom).
If youre speaking of flashing a custom rom which comes with root access already unlocked, you need to have root for that.
Its easy you can find it on google or youtube. Best method for now (or perfectly working one used by the most people) is flashing some stuff through a programm for pc (or mac i think, but im not sure) called odin. Then i advise (once you have root) you boot into the phone and install from the play store rom manager. Thru this app you may install a new recovery (basically safe-partition of disc, think of it as a bios or firmware for a pc. What u need it for is to save ur ass if u f***k up your phone, or to make COMPLETE backup images of your device so that you may restore them later on. It can also be used to flash other recoveries and therefore replace itself, or flash other roms or kernels. Its a MUST HAVE for anybody with root)

use any method, it does not matter at all.
but rooting will not get your ripple effect back. If you said that you had it before you installed something, then factory reset

Works good on my i317m except when i put the phone in my multimedia dock it crashes. But I believe that's a CM thing not a MIUI thing as the TW version does not do this

miui was design to be "iphoney"
phone doesn't seemed to recognized the music I have stored in my NTFS-formatted sdcard. Though the "explorer" app can recognize my sdcard without any problems.

Thats true its due to CM because TW supports it but it will be great if you give me log cat logs during the crash situation to ask Miui dev team to advice on it.

I dont have any issue with Knox boot loader. If you use philz recovery and flashing from zip after cleaning the stuff. It should go smooth.

What's going on guys, I haven't asked this question and I don't know if it would matter but have anyone had issues with emoji icons not being shown for use in the Galaxy Mega 6.3 using stock OS 4.2.2
Even after root it still shows the same issue with the emoji icons (only shows a fee of them in some sections but completely empty space). Is there a fix for this issue for the 4.2.2 or upgrading the OS would fix this? If a OS upgrade fixes this issue then I'll just leave it as is.

I am facing serious issue that my phone reboots frequently when I press power button to unlock the screen. I had this problem after upgrading to kk4.4.4. I thought it will be resolved in the new update. But now in lollipop also am facing the issue. Now my device is not rooted and only installed WhatsApp, Facebook, telegram, clash of clans and XDA. Stock recovery with lollipop 5.0.2
Rebooting is more in lollipop than KitKat. Is it software problem or hardware problem?

Lol doing so will be useless and a good feelings killer, this is a hardware issue, hence it can be seen in kitkat and lollipop and also will be seen in all future updates.
I used to face the same issue as you.
The fix:
Settings -> Security -> Uncheck "Power button instantly locks"
Set Automatically lock to - 5 seconds after sleep.
I tried it already. But no use...

You could try reflashing stock ROM and try using the stock launcher instead of Nova launcher or any other custom launchers and check if the reboots persists.
I have stock ROM and recovery. Had installed google launcher and removed it. No luck.

I just went to the updates section. Galaxy Apps is honestly horrible to receive updates from though. Sometimes it doesn't list available updates.

My home screen tab is greyed out. Can't seem to find a setting that allows the home screen tab to be accessed. I have not gotten any UI updates, and galaxy apps did not have any updates, I checked it several times. Maybe they will push it soon to VZ Note 8's, dunno.

Are you saying you installed the .apk and don't see a change? Maybe a reboot? I installed it and it works fine, T-Mobile version.
