It used to work well on Android 4.3 (B148). it is said that Xposed is not compatible to SDK 22 after upgraded to B322. Modifying build.prop did not make it work. The only reason to install Xposed is to use Greenify's experimental functions.
Thanks for your any suggestions.
Xposed will not work with B322 at all. You will need to flash one of the Roms like Cyanogen, PAC, or Carbon to get it to work.
1) How can a custom ROM like RR be as good as the official ROM? - I mean RR works on all devices and they do not even manage to have the same official MIUI version on all phones. All the developer versions are the same version but have different MB sizes for every phone. That needs to have a reason...
2) I want to chance my harware buttons to start an app. I did it before on my Redmi Note 3 (Kate) with xposed. Worked like a charm. I even had OTA support with TWRP.
Now I tried it with the Remdi Note 4. I am on developer v. 7.4.27 - which means I have Android 7 thus, no xposed framework. I want to go back to a Android 6 MIUI version. Which one should I use? As soon as I update I'm screwed..?
Well, in the end I am kind of lost between these options:
1) Install latest stable version and wait (for an uncertain time) 'till TWRP works fine and get xposed
2) Go back to an earlier stable version and install TWRP and xposed - and never update until xposed for Android 7 is out
3) Switch to an older developer version which has Android 6 and install xposed - and never update until xposed for Android 7 is out
4) Just screw MIUI and switch to another ROM. Which one? RR sounds cool.. can I change my hardware buttons to start an app there? Can the custom ROM be better then the offical ROM? ...and I think RR is oon Andoid 7 which means again - no xposed :crying:

You can install AOSP Extended it much better then STOCK and yes u can also set any app to be launched from hardware button on that
Hit thank button if i helped
Hey, yeah I know I can install cusom ROMS. But I wanted to get some background information
edit:
Also this answer is too general. Doesn't flashing AOSP Extended mean I need to flash all the updates? Thus I need to login in all apps again etc... I also read the thread and there are some bluetooth issues with the ROM. I do not want to "maintain" my phone all the time. I am coding at work all day. I have a **** ton of things to do, nevertheless I love playing around with my phone if I have time, I do not NEED to spend time with "maintaining" my phone.
I therefore like to have it as simple as possible. I love the OTA updates. I even like the look and feel of MIUI.
Just want to tweak my phone
For now I flashed the MIUI v. 8.2 and just took the MM (Android 6) based version.
TWRP is running, SU, xposed. But I do not know what happens when I will update over OTA the next time....

According to me u should not go for custom roms because custom roms requires lot of maintenance
u should just root ur phone and tweak it as u want

So, I've tried the latest v90/v88.2/v88.1/v89 and flashed the olt verify zip. But I'm just keep getting stuck in bootloop. I'm on MIUI 9.5.2.0 NEGCNFA(China) Nougat.
Is there anyway to get Xposed to work? I've dug around the forums for resources, but none of them seem to work. Any possible resources for me to try out? Thanks for any help in advance.
P.S: I do have the latest Magisk installed, which means I have full root over my device.
Hi all,
Its time to upgrade Android 4.0.4 to a newer version.
Whats-app isn't working anymore and some other apps.
I would like to run it smoothly with all functions working correctly, especially GPS. So the latest android isn't needed i think.
I am thinking of CM12.1 (5.1) to start with. I know i have to resize my system partition and flash a compatible recovery.
But i can't find a step by step guide as this is a pretty old version. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
thanks
As far as I remember, you don't have to repartition until Android 6.
Also, Android 5 ROMs are quite outdated, and might contain several security vulnerabilities. I would recommend going for LineageOS 11 ROM (Android 4.4.4) by grzwolf here on XDA. It contains latest Android Security Patches. Here's a KitKat compatible recovery: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79196916&postcount=230

Thanks for your advice. I should get this working.
However I see Gapps from 2016 have to be used. Will GMaps and the Play store update themselves to a new version after installation or will i get stuck with the old ones?

It seems like you need to flash ROM, boot into it, then reboot to recovery and flash latest OpenGApps, reboot again and then you should be able to sign in to the play store:

If you have TWRP installed you can flash any number of GSIs I flashed CAOS V308. While I have a T510, the process would be much the same for you. Download the GSI of your choice, making sure that it has the right structure(Arm64, Arm, Arm32 etc) you will also need to know if your device is A only or A/B. Quickest way to do all that is just download 'Treble Check' from the play store and run it. It will tell you how your device supports treble. Then once you have your GSI downloaded, boot into TWRP. Wipe the system and with out rebooting, install your GSI img onto the System partition. Reboot and you should be running a custom ROM. It might have some issues as it is not specifically built for your device, but until there is development for the T500, GSIs are the only game in town.
