Does not boot after buyer returned - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I sold my old Samsung Galaxy sII on ebay under mint conditions. The idiot seller returned it after 2 weeks with appalling damages. No clue how he dropped it to have gotten it so banged up to the point of the phone not being able to boot.
I tried booting it into recovery (volume up + power) but all it does is freeze on the initial splash screen (photo attached). Phone does not boot at all. When charging, it also just freezes on the battery icon shown on screen with no activity on the circle shown.
Any ideas on what I can do to repair it?

Try to boot in download and flash a stock firmware, if the problem persist try reconnect all the flat connectors on the logic board.

S3 won't load passed boot screen??

My S3 is unrooted and today for some reason, turned itself of then wouldn't reboot passed the boot screen.
It's not stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300" welcome screen.
So far I've tried:-
Disconnecting the battery several times, even leaving it for 10mins before reconnecting.
Reset (holding Volume Up+Home+Power). It just reboots and gets stuck at the same point. Occasionally not even getting as far as the Samsung screen, it will stay on the battery charging logo/screen but the charging circle image doesn't spin.
Any ideas what, if anything I can do?

Have you gotten your S3 to work yet? My S3 did excactly the same.. I woke up and saw that it was showing the boot screen. I thought "That was weired" and didn't touch it for like ten minutes. I went back and saw that it still hadn't got passed the boot screen and then tried to reboot it. Then I once again was stuck at the boot screen and tried to reboot it again, remove the battery, plug it in to the charger and enter the recovery mode (without any success).
Have anyone else experienced the same problem? What did you do to make it boot properly?
Same problem...I can't get into recovery mode either =/
I had a similar issue. But never got stuck in boot screen. Phone was not switching on and connecting charger showed grey battery icon, not the green charging icon. Had to take it to service center. As long as it is unrooted and in warranty you are safe. They told me they replaced the charger pin on phone. But really not sure.

[NEED HELP!!!]-Won't Boot,Charge,Pulsing like Sudden death(Need DATA from eMMC) I717

I have almost 21 months old AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717.
ROM: Padawan JB V2 || 4.1.2| 5|31
It was working FINE past 21 months without any single problem. I had kept like NEW condition - no major drop accidents, case from day 1.
Without NO Reason, it just died 2 days ago.
- My phone was running just a bit slow last week and few strange losing Bluetooth connection during calls.
- My original OEM battery was swollen a bit.(Again, tried with other battery to fix the current situation and new battery is on its way for another try.)
Here is the current terrible condition::crying::crying::crying:
1. Won't Boot to OS, it just splash Samsung logo and blank screen
I had tried to go into recovery mode by using hold Power & Vol button => Failed
(I went into the recovery mode menu only ONCE from almost 10-20 times tries but lost power again as soon as menu showed up.)
2. Won't Charge, it just keeps pulsing with blank screen
I had tried remove battery and put it back.=> Still Same
I had borrowed exactly same working battery(from other phone) and tried to boot or boot into the recovery mode=> Still Same
=> This process diagnosis to me that it is NOT the battery problem.(BRAND NEW Battery is on its way.)
I had tried remove battery first, connect power charger(OEM charger) and put battery back based on one of post that I found.
=> Again, just splash the screen of battery charge for 1 seconds then goes blank screen with pulsing again.
NOW, this is the situation and options I could think of...
A. I REALLY DO wants turning on at least once to back up the latest data from phone's memory(eMMC).
(My last backup was 2 months ago, but has 2 months of new data(specially photos of my 2 yr. old daughter):crying:
B. Wish to keep the phone. But worst case, might be time to upgrade since it will cost something I am guessing.
C. Any repair/data backup service estimates along with suggestion of vendors/repair center?
Here are questions that I have now...
Q1. Does it sound/look repairable from this Sudden Death like symptom?
Q2. Is there any way to back up data at current situation without OS turned on?
Q3. How does all possible future attempts by using Recovery mode, Kies of flashing to data?
Doesn't any of these erase my data? (I DO need Pros confirmation on this before I perform anything from now.)
Q4. I read some "sticky power button" which I NEVER see symptom of button problem.
(Few repair tips like CRC one conductive type spray cleaning or replacement parts and video)
Does it seem like my problem?
I am not positive on this button issue on mine based on my last uses that all buttons were working fine until it died.
- my personal opinion seems like main logic board related problem.
:crying: Please help me specially to BACK UP the DATA at least.
PLEASE PLEASE! :crying:
Sounds like a stuck power button to me. Try flicking it with your finger a couple of times.

Galaxy s4 after LCD replacment

Hi,so i replaced LCD in my I9515, I've been doing this with youtube tutorial. Before 1-2 weeks ago my phone boot normally but i couldnt see anything due to broken LCD. In store, guy took my battery and connected it to a naked motherboard and lcd to see if it's working. After replacment when i try to boot it's stuck on Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and wont boot further. I can go into download mode, computer and odin are seeing connected phone, but i cannot boot into recovery it's just showing blue "booting recovery" and nothing happening. When I charging it, the grey battery pops out, but when i unplug it the battery is still there like it's still connected. Sometimes when i try to turn it off when it's stuck on galaxy s4 logo it's turning off then on by itself like 2 or 3 times. Any ideas how to fix it? It's hardware or software problem? In a minutes i'll try to flash stock soft from sammobile. Phone was never rooted and no custom roms were installed.
Thanks for all help.
EDIT Flashing with ODIN not solved the problem
EDIT Now phone doesnt show battery when connected just one vibrate and screen is blank, and when i try to boot it while connected it's just vibrating and still black screen. When it was connected to pc it was vibrating every 2 seconds. When I try to boot it's by itself trying to boot recovery but it's not booting and blue "recovery booting" just hang on top of screen and nothing happening.
EDIT After restart by volume down in download mode S4 acts like in the beggining of problem
EDIT It's getting hot around processor when charging (about 5-10 min)

S6 - Bricked - Black screen and Solid White LED

Hello, friends
Out of the blue, my S6 Edge tried to restart, but got stuck in a loop at the Samsung Logo. One or two times it went to "insert pin" and then restarted again. I tried to Force Restart and it didn't solve the problem.
After a few tries, I managed to wipe the cache partition. Now it's simply bricked with a black screen and a Solid White LED. I can't restart it, enter download mode or safe mode or anything. Odin doesn't recognize it at all. Is there anything I could try?
The phone is not rooted.

Thank you! Tried it. Doesn't work. It's beyond my understading why would it behave this way after I managed to clear the cache. At least before that it went into download mode or safe mode. I still suspect a software issue.

So vol down + home + power will not get you to download mode?
How about recovery? Vol up + home + power?
This happened to me before and the way i got out of it was hold only vol down + power as soon as the screen went off completely (no led lit) switch to download mode combo.
Tried both of the commands. They didn't work. I will let it drain the battery completely and then see what happens.

reminds me of the bad emmc memory like the note 4s had.
some times completly letting the battery drain can fix it being "stuck". then recharge for 20 min or so then trying to turn on.
if u plug it into pc does it reconize anything in device manager
even unknown device or descriptor failed anythiing at all?
This morning the LED was off, so I tried to recharge it. Nothing happens. Also, the PC doesn't detect it at all. I think it's safe to assume I need a new phone. Too bad...at least if I was able to recover the data on this.

same problem here started over a week ago - samsung S6: black screen, constant white led. tried all variations of resetting with buttons. over a year ago i replaced the battery, and its been fine since. when this no boot issued happened i also tried changing the battery to a known good one. on inserting a battery and then pressing the power button the indicator led will go to green for less than a second before changing to constant white, and it stays that way no matter what until the battery is drained or the battery is removed. Strange thing is there is no information from samsung on what this behaviour means, but I've come across dozens of other S6 owners on the web with the same problem, so this is obviously diagnostic behaviour designed by samsung - but no info from samsung. the phone has never been damaged or watered or rooted so I'm at a loss.
Confirmed diagnostics:
The phone will respond to the power button and attempt to turn on
The phone will charge a battery, so the charging circuits and battery circuits are working.
The phone does not get picked up by a Windows 10 PC with Kies installed in any state - other samsung phones get picked up no problem.
Same here
I have the same symptoms. When I hild the vol up+home+pwr I get a green let for 1/2 sec then white. No other combinations do a thing. I swapped the battery for a new one. No luck.
Mine started a few days ago. The phone was 50% charge and i plugged it in for two hours. Came back and it had a solid red led. After a few hours the red light went off. It was then 100% unresponsive. I then took it apart and disconnected the battery. When I reconnected it, it started to do the white let thing described above

I have one that behaves exactly the same I changed the battery and didn't make any difference. my next step is to replace power management chip. I'll let you know.
Any luck on this?
Mine has been like this for a couple months, kind of gave up on it, but decided to give it a go again!
Same problem here, just happend after switching the battery. Anyone have solved this?
I found a kinda solution, plug your charger in and charge past 30% then unplug charger. then use just vol down and power button for 7-10 seconds, after 7-10 seconds just release the power button while still holding vol down button until you see samsung logo, you can tell if you did it wrong by the solid led being back on, repeat until success, once you have it on do NOT press the power button or it will RESET back to solid led/black screen.
I have the same problem with my s6 active and similar story to dbeeheim. Has anyone fixed this? And can anyone confirm that enzo13's solution works?
Much thanks in advance!!
i have same problem!
Suddenly my S6 dead, battery was ~80%, no charge
yesterday i try to change battery, after that if push power button, LED small light comes but in white with purple, then stuck. (it's small Notifications LED)
and i chnge the screen, but no more than white/prople LED.
(no any thing on screen, always black..)
what is the problem?
i think it's battery because it last month didn't work good, and it's old 3years battery.. but no idea..
Hello guys my Samsung S6 sm-g920f has the solid white led and black screen. Really no fixes?
thank you
Same issue
I have the exact same issue. My Galaxy S6 Edge (G925F) suddenly died and won't get past the 'Galaxy S6 Edge Powered by Android' screen.
I am unable to reach the recovery options. I've tried flashing two different stock ROMs with Odin which succeed but without successfully turning on my phone. I've also tried flashing TWRP with success in Odin but it won't get past the 'Powered by Android' screen before turning off after +-4 seconds. The white LED is on even when the screen is black.
Just had this same issue, my battery died and I forgot to charge my phone overnight, woke up and it would not turn on, black screen. I did manage to replace the battery and do several diagnostic tests on it. My battery was receiving about half the power output it should be (this is normal it's a 4.5yo phone) and when I replaced the battery with a new one, it did not turn on. With wireless charging I can tell I am receiving a charge and with standard I can not. The screen does not indicate it is charging with either method but my wireless charging pad lights up indicating my phone is being charged. I think it may be the processor or screen itself. This really sucks because I lost all my data on my phone and data recovery can be over $500

S6 Edge stuck white LED

Hi, 2 weeks ago I plugged a faulty charger into the phone (while off) and after that it did not turn on anymore, no LED, no recovery, no download mode. It did not charge too. I thought it was a battery problem, I replaced it with a new one and now when I push the power key I have a stable white LED (it turns on some seconds later than normally), a black screen and CPU is overheating a lot (it's hot in a minute only) . I tried to boot it in recovery mode and download mode again, with no different result.
I think some components damaged when I plugged the faulty charger, and now the phone is not able to boot anymore.
Do you agree? Any idea? Any suggestions?
Thank you
