Hello everyone. I have a "text now" phone that primarily sends and receives texts and calls from WiFi. It is a Samsung galaxy victory. I have been trying to configure tasker to go into airplane mode whenever I connect to wifi. I got that to work. But now I need a way to turn off airplane mode when wifi disconnects. But when it's turning airplane and wifi both on, it disables wifi then re-enables it. So I can't do a simple, when Wi-Fi disconnects, disable airplane mode. I hope I made sense . And that this can be solved. Thanks xda.

I have a Vibrant with no data plan (I'm in Wi-Fi 99+% of the time). How can I turn off both the 2G and 3G radios, both to save battery and to make sure I'm not accidentally charged for using data?
I searched around and there are a ton of apps and widgets to toggle between 2G and 3G or disable 3G (Smoda, APNDroid, etc.), but I haven't found a way to turn both radios off. I also poked around in Service Mode, and the only options I found were to toggle between 2G/3G, not turn the radios off. Any ideas?
Not sure you can. Airplane mode will kill the WiFi too. But the best bet would be to stay on 2G and disable data roaming.

Trigger Airplane mode, slide down notification area, turn wifi back on. Bingo. I do this at School in areas where I get no reception at all but has wifi access.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Or disable APN, you will still be able to make calls but wont recive 2g or 3g, its a widget

Another option would be *#*# info#*#* then go phone information ..scroll down and hit "turn off radio" and your good to go. Or you can hit menu and press "disable data"

APNdroid shuts them off Ive used when i used my vibrant as prepaid to save battery. After you disable you have to reboot
Thanks for the help, everyone! Airplane mode + wifi is perfect.
(About APNDroid: as far as I could tell, it just changes your APN entries to invalid addresses; it doesn't actually turn off the radio. So you can't use 3G, but I was afraid it would still use the radio while searching for the invalid networks. But I don't have a great understanding of HSPDA, so I could certainly be wrong on that.)
just a heads up, airplane mode also disables calling/texting
Yes the radio would still be searching for networks if you disable the apn
If you get the Juice Defender app, it has a "Toggle Mobile Data" widget. It's a nice 1x1 widget that turns off the mobile data radios (but not Wifi). This is the best solution I've found.

So I have a data-plan on my phone, and that's it. The actual 'phone plan' is all VoIP, so the only time I need the phone's 3G radio on is when I'm not connected to a wifi network.
I've found many programs that can automatically do an action when I connect/disconnect from wifi, but for some reason I cannot find an app that just disables the phone radio. Airplane mode is not desirable because it disables all connections. I've found programs that attempt to modify which radios are disabled in airplane mode, but it seems like none of them are capable of leaving the bluetooth radio on. I always need wifi + bluetooth on, but the best I can do is airplane mode with wifi, and that's it.
Now I know it's possible to manually disable the phone radio and nothing else under phone info. Does anyone know of any applications that will press the 'turn off radio' button for me? Preferably, I would want two; one that turns off the radio, and one that turns it on so that I can coordinate the actions in my automating program.
Also, in case anyone is planning on saying 'herp derp you can reenable wifi and bluetooth manually after going into airplane mode', NO that is not what I want.

You could try this app: http://www.appbrain.com/app/airplane-mode-modifier/com.wparam.airsettings and you could also check out this script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217038.
NB.: You cannot enable bluetooth while in airplane mode.
The first application I already tried, and although it works for wifi, it doesn't work for bluetooth for some unknown reason.
That second script is interesting; I can turn off the mobile radio, but I can't turn it back on. The guy that wrote that post seems like kind of a tool for acting like he just wrote a script, when really his entire script consists of only:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
#!/system/bin/radiooptions
radiooptions 1
I checked the radiooptions API, and radiooptions 5 is supposed to turn the radio back on... but it doesn't seem to work.
Hopefully somebody knows a way around this :/.
Hi all, I have encounter this problem since 2 month ago.
There's a way to reproduce it:
Turn WiFi on and you have to connect to any router, then you can keep data connection on.
After 30 min to 1 hour, turn off WiFi. Now data connection should working, but in my case, I can't.
Thought the data connection is enabled, it just unable to connect to the server...
I have to enter "test mode" to turn off Wireless connection and turn it on again to fix it.
Or to turn on/off airplane mode to fix this issue.
However, I've seen no one complain it here.
Is there anyone have this issue and how to solve it?
P.S I've tried all the ROM and Modem from v24p37 to v24p50
Hello everyone,
Has anyone here experienced issues with WiFi calling? I have it enabled and it initially received some sort of message stating that it was enabled, however I constantly have dropped calls at my home. Unless the feature is virtually useless, this leads me to believe that it isn't really working. Does anyone have any input?
I'm on patch level 2016-09-01 (6.0.1) on the H820 just to be clear.
Thanks for any input.
Have you tried putting the phone into airplane mode, then turning wifi & wifi calling back on? That should force it into wifi calling mode, the wifi signal with a + on it will let you know.

First off thank you for the response. I will try this, however I should point out that wifi calling shows the icons and therefore should supposedly be working. I just constantly have dropped calls and feel as though it isn't doing anything.
Hi
I have a Xiaomi Note 8T which I like but it has a very odd problem with WiFi calling. Basically it's only working on "public" hotspots.
For example it works on my train I take to work... It works on the London underground.. it works in Starbucks and McDonald's but it doesn't work on my network at home.
I've tried using different WiFi channels at home but I can't figure it out. I don't block any outgoing connections at home .. my Samsung S10 works for WiFi calling at home . But not the Xiaomi
Any ideas why?
The phone connects to WiFi at home and works fine just calling doesn't work
Thanks
update to this thread:
it works in Airplane mode when I turn WiFi on. Turn airplane mode off and it stops working (actually the WiFi calling icon is still there, but make a call and it fails, then the icon disappears) but in airplane mode, wifi calls work perfectly. I just don't want to have to keep turning airplane mode on/off every time im at home because I forget to turn it off when i go out.
Hello, this is an old thread but it seems to be a COMMON STANDARD in the whole US Network for anyone besides the one sold by TMO and ATT.
Any news how this can be solved ?
