Hello everyone,
please excuse my bad english in advance.
I´m using a not rooted GT-I9300 unbranded german version with Android 4.3.
Some days ago I attempted to back the device up using clockwork mod. After pressing a START-Button within the app (don´t remember exactly, which) the phone went instantly black and did not respond.
I do not exactly know in which state the phone hangs - there is no button-combination working to set it into download mode.
I tried the following:
- USB jig: not working
- ODIN 3.10.4: does not detect the device
- Heimdall: does not detect the device
- Windows device manager recognizes the phone (cannot post image link) as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008".
- QPST Configuration also recognizes the phone as "Q/QCP-XXX" and shows "*Download*" in the ESN, Phone Number and Banner-Column.
Does anyone have a hint for me in which state my phone is stuck? And: if there is any cure I could give ??
Many thanks in advance!
Jens
For gt i9300, to enter recovery- hold home key, volume up and power key.
For download mode, hold volume down, home key and power.
If you are unable to boot the screen, can't enter neither download mode nor recovery, then sorry, you have a brick.
If you can enter download mode, its softbrick, you can use odin to flash recovery and roms.
If your pc is not able to detect the phone, try changing usb ports and cable as start, followed by usb drivers if not fixed.

Hi Dr. Varun,
thanks for your fast reply!
recovery mode and download mode don´t work.
Changing USB-Port doesn´t work, just alters Port in the device manager from e.g. com5 to com3.
The phone is still listed as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008".
Is there anything I can do with that Qualcomm-Tool?
Many thanks, Jens
If you can remember which app it was,it might make a difference. Till then, you can try installing drivers in your pc. I fear your phone is bricked. But i still sense some hope if you take it to customer care center.

Hi Dr. Varun,
yes. I installed CWM and intended to back up the phone before installing Cyanogenmod. I should have known better - and better read all the sticky threads here at XDA that Nandroid was the tool for that task....
The phone disappeard without any warning, just hitting start (but I really don´t remember exactly...)
Do you think there is any hope (except JTAGing the device)?
Many thanks in advance, Jens
Apologies,no clue from my side. Try asking the developers, they are much experienced and will know what to do. Prayers for your phone.

Hello Admin,
28 hours earlier I was a complete noob for using Samsung S III. I had connected my device to laptop for upgrading using KIES. Everything was going on normal and my laptop went in sleep mode. When I checked in so it stated that an error has occurred and firmware upgrade failed. And further told to upgrade using recovery mode. Since then I have been trying to enter in recovery mode. Have tried all the given options of entering in Recovery Mode but not successful till now.
It goes in Download Mode and no response nothing happens even if I keep it the same way for 7 hours.
In Download mode screen displays the information below.
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS OFFICIAL
Using Kies is the same issue. There's no response even after hours.
Downloaded a 724 MB zip file for ODIN flash and tried that but even then same.
Only one screen: Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again
I just need my Phone Contact Numbers. I am ready to reset the to factory settings if I can get those.
Had been trying to solve it since then. Have searched every site every possible forum. Please help me out.
Thanks in advance.
Open kies.
On the Taskbar select tools and then firmware upgrade and initialisation.
Enter the model name in caps. Ie GT-I9300 and hit ok.
Then enter the serial number written under the battery.
Then do as it says on the pc screen and put your phone in download mode.
Then Flash.

Firstly thank you for your co-operation.
I have tried that. It states all date will be permanently deleted. Actually I need the contact numbers which are saved in phone and as I have told I didn't make any backup of them.
Thanks.

Problem with phones being a so much pay off or lives is they run the risk of losing the data we use them for. Just a shame you're laptop went into sleep whike a firmware update was going on.

Yes, this is what happened
what i should do now
It could be some screwed up partitions but like the poster above me told you if you indeed did delete your bootloader the only way to fix it is with a riff box. I reccommend that you try reflashing the recovery the way you flashed it before and then try booting into recovery if you have any more problems pm me.

how i can enable usb debugging and i cant go to Setting ?
You can't use usb debugging when your phone doesn't power on. But it seems like you haven't deleted the bootloader partition but most likely wiped your system partition. Can you enter your recovery?

Try reading this or your last resort could be taking it back to Vodafone if you have warranty and say that it stopped turning on one day and act dumb. Don't tell them that you rooted and played around with it and you might get a replacement.

Hi,
Could you recover bootloader? I am also having same issue. I tried to unlock v860 mobile and when I rebooted after installing ROM my device is not booting at all.
So, have you checked devicemanager in Windows when you connect your phone with usb? Is there an unidentified driver?
Sent from my S500 using xda app-developers app
I have the same problem. I deleted bootloader from recovery. And yes on device manager it shows for about 5 sec as an unknown device. Tested win xp and win 7
Well after so many times am posting mostly just to bump this thread and seeing if anyone found a solution for this.
I still have my Smart II V860 after 1 year not working and kinda tried anything to repair it.
Was trying to put a new custum Rom to it that time and must have done something wrong at it and when did a reboot
phone got stuck on the android logo. Since then nothing worked to bring it back.
PC doesnt recognize it. If you go to device manager sometimes shows it as a modem for a few sec and just that.
Cant flash anything new couse ADB and Fastboot commands dont work couse Pc doesnt recognize the Device when conneced even why
have the right installation files for V860 while ADB is working fine with other phone i use.
I also did a home made USB Jig for it but prolly works only on Samsung devices becouse when i used it V860 just restarts
and still on Android logo and yet not recognized on fastboot or ADB.
Vodafone in here doesnt accept it for repair couse 1 year garanty contract has passed and some private mobile service companies i have tried
have not found a solution.
Looks mostly a hardbrick then softbrick to me but really dont know if anything else left to do about it.
I can't believe it, I wanted to figure out which Stock Rom would let me update to a 4.2 Rom easiest so I used ODIN to flash 03, 05 and 09. Well on my last attempt, 09, I decided to also flash a Kernel.....guess it was the wrong one because it won't go into Recovery or go past "Samsung" on boot. To top it off, when I put it back in "Download" mode to ODIN again, the computer won't even detect it.....I tried everything. I even did a recovery on my computer in case I downloaded a bug....NOTHING. Paperweight!!!!! I could really use some help here or confirmation of the "Brick" so I don't waste my time.:crying::crying::crying:

I can get into download mode but when I do the computer won't recognize the phone so is there a way to install the Kies without connecting to the computer? Whatever happened effected both my USB port and SD card. My SD card is missing the recovery it seems like. Can I install recovery on it without the phone being connected to the computer and just the SD card in the computer?
You just disconnect your phone and download and install the latest version of kies in your pc. So that drivers will be automatically installed to ur pc then open odin and connect your phone in download mode to pc then check wether odin detect ur phone:thumbup:

**** Fire! No Dice....still nothing. I tried DL mode with battery, without battery; tried different cables; tried different ports. The computer just will not detect the phone. Is there some kind of "Hotwiring" I could do on the inside of my phone, like on the circuit board? Other than that, I'm all out of ideas.
Would it be possible to install recovery files onto my SD card via my computer and then insert the SD card back in the phone to be able to get it into recovery? From everything I've read I am the first to be able to have my phone bricked to the point I can get into Download mode but not recovery of any kind yet no computer will detect my phone at all, even in download mode......ONLY ME :]
Well, after pondering on the fact that I can get into download mode but nothing else a friend reminded me that I can't be Hard Bricked if I can get into download mode, I realized that it was a communication problem of the "hardware" kind. So, I took my phone apart. went to the micro usb and re-soldered all the connections and used a magnifying loupe to look at the connectors in the micro usb port and took a small flathead screwdriver and raised up the connectors a little. After putting it back together I crossed fingers and plugged it in and Whalla! "Loading Drivers"--connected. How about that. So thanks to everyone for their suggestions and hopefully my experience can help someone else. I would like to add that up until this point, I have never had issues with the micro usb port on the device.

Hello,
today, I tried to root my S6 Edge but failed completely. On top of that, I was dumb enough to just close Odin, so I can't tell you what it said. I also forgot to enable USB debugging and disable verify app (to be honest I just couldn't find this on my device).
My problem:
My device only shows the "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software". This is all it will do. I can't go back in download mode nor am I able to switch it off.
Part 2 of my problem is, that Smart Switch tells me, that my phone is not supported. I did a backup of my data before trying to root my device and at that time everything worked perfectly fine.
I hope you can help me despite the lack of clear information.
Thank you so far,

Hi, I have S6 Edge (SM-G925I). I have mistakenly bricked my device. It is running on Android 5.1.1. I tried rooting my device with CF-Auto Root. and since then i had this error on on the top left corner of my boot screen it is written in red and it says "Recovery is not seanandroid enforcing". i was really annoyed by this and tried to get back to my Stock ROM via Smart Switch. Unfortunately it failed. since then i am not able to enter recovery mode. Every time I try by pressing the 3 buttons, it shows up on a Cyan screen with this written "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software". following that whenever i run Smart Switch it says that my device is not supported. I went through many sites over the internet however none solved my problems. i'm desperate for help. Please help me
