I have a S6 edge from US Cellular and I cannot get it to the "enter unlock code" screen even after I tried all of your unlock numbers. It just says "No SIM or SIM error"
The SIM we are trying to use is one that works in our other S6 Edge and I can get to that screen using your numbers but not on the new one.

Three questions:
Did you make sure the phone wasn't stolen?
Does the SIM need to be adjusted?
Is the phone compatible with US Cellulars network?
These are three potential causes of the SIM not being detected.

No, the phone is not stolen> checked the number with US Cellular. They are the ones who told me the phone is unlocked
How do you adjust the SIM?
The phone is a US Cellular phone and I am trying to use a T Mobile SIM (Yes, the TM Sim works)
Thank you for your reply!

When my dad had a similar problem with his iPhone I fixed it by pulling the sim card out and putting it back in. It was partially popped out of place. I am doubting that a T-Mobile sim works in a US Cellular phone because US Cellular is a CD MA carrier
The edge goes both ways.

hey everyone, i'm about to buy AT&T Galaxy Note through Craigslist.
seller states that it is unlocked, but not rooted. is there anyway for me to verify it is unlocked?
is it simply inserting my T-Mobile SIM card and making sure it doesn't say phone is locked, enter network lock control key, etc...?

Yes all you have to do is insert your sim and it will either connect, or you will get a prompt to enter the PIN. If you want to use 3G/4Gish though, you will have to root and flash the t-mo radio that's in dev section.
P.S. With most Samsung phones, you can check for the unlock by dialing *#7465625# and it will tell you directly if there's a network lock on it, but Samsung disabled this on the skyrocket IIRC and kept it disabled on the note

perfect. thanks for the quick response!
When I inserted a tmo sim into mine nothing happened except for it would show the sim phone number under the Settings app. No signal bars either. This is on a stock unlocked phone.

You might have to wait a few minutes for it to acquire the signal.. Is the sim active? Sometimes inactive Sims don't connect, but I put my old t-mo sim in & it had a signal in 20-30 seconds.
Easiest way to tell is to reboot the phone after you put a non-at$t sim in. If it's locked it will ask for network control key .

Yeah it was an active sim. Ten minutes later with no results. It wouldn't work without the APN at all and the Tmo rep didn't want to go through all of that (it was his sim).

It is that "simple"..
If you insert your non-AT&T (including it's MVNOs which are considered AT&T also), and it's LOCKED, it will ask you for the unlock code. If it doesn't, it has been unlocked permanently.
If after doing this, it does show your number under about, but you don't get a signal. This might be an indication of how well the phone gets a signal or how good/bad the signal is, on your carrier in the area you are testing in.
An after thought is to check the versions in the about and research. You may have acquired a hacker/tinkerer's phone that may have played further with the phone's settings and or flashed a different modem. It may also be indicative of why s/he is selling it, possibly faulty.. YMMV
You have to flash T-Mo compatible modem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573568
thanks everyone. i bought a note from someone an hour after my initial post and it was unlocked.
i'm enjoying this phone/tablet/phablet/whatever u wanna call it on tmobile. still getting used to the size, but the display is beautiful.
Hey everyone. Recently I did the free sim unlock that crixley posted. Now I checked the phone to see if it was unlocked by entering the special code on the dial pad. I followed the instructions carefully but nevertheless - my i717 kept saying "No SIM Card" whenever I put in the tmobile sim but it read my att sim when I put it in. Now i tried different modems/radios but still the same thing. Im not sure if its a problem with the sim because it is old. It came with my HTC Sensation 4g from tmobile and that was about early 2012. The sim has just been in a box with stuff all over it to so I dont know if its ruined. What do you guys think? Ill post a pic of both sims. Ill post a pic of unlock message to. Thanks!
Top Is Tmobile sim
bot is att sim
You unlocked the phone -- why? You don't have an account with a non-at&t carrier?
Just borrow a non-at&t sim card from anyone.

Hello XDA!
After reading here that all verizon S4''s are network free, I bought an almost new one to use in Europe(Romania).
But even after i checked global everywhere , the phone says"NO SIM-insert sim card", and refuse to work at all, no voice, data wtatsoever. Also, i cant change the APN (but since there isnt even voice or sms, it isn relevant at this point)
Is there any tutorial for a newbie that i could folow to get the phone working in 3G?
Thank you very much. P.S. I'm on 4.3 stock
I have the same problem. It says no SIM when I put my country's SIM card. When I put ATT sim, the phone shows that there a SIM inside the phone.
its odd, since it is supposed to be a global device. Maybe flashing a custom ROM should remove the restriction?

Sounds like you have a bad SIM, or perhaps something wrong with the way it's cut. My i545 works fine with European SIMs (other than the annoyance with the "Non-Verizon SIM" warning).
You can't change the APN since you don't have a SIM installed, and you can't use GSM without a SIM.

BTW, eKit is also gosim.com.
No, I'm not using CDMA - the service in the UK is all GSM. You install the SIM then set the phone to GSM mode to use it. I've used the eKit service for years, starting with my incredible 2 which is another CDMA/GSM hybrid phone.
When moving about, I get service from Vodaphone, O2, AT&T UK, and probably others. I really don't understand why your phone isn't recognizing the SIM.
Is the service in your country CDMA by any chance? You don't use a SIM to activate a CDMA phone, so perhaps what you have is some proprietary thing that's not a standard GSM SIM.
I fixed my problem by using a different SIM card. When I put it, it picked up the network automatically.
I'm on AT&T,but just bought a rooted S4 off someone with a Verizon ROM on it. Would I just need to flash a AT&T ROM for the S4 to be able to get the SIM card to work with AT&T?
Any help appreciated.
Same here. My friend gave me his S4 today and it is Verizon and running on the stock ROM. However, I am on AT&T. From what I hear this phone comes factory unlocked so you just plug in the SIM and it should be okay. Is there anything else that I need to know if I want to use this phone as my main?

After a brief visit with AT&T today, they installed a SIM card from their carrier into my phone, but it would not get speeds grater than EDGE at the time. 3G may have been possible, but it didn't see it right away. Also, they had to update the APN settings in the Settings -> More settings -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names. Lastly, after searching the internet, Verizon carrier locks the GSM in the states. In other words, they make it so you can use GSM OUTSIDE the US but not allow AT&T or T-Mobile SIMS to be used in their devices. This is a carrier lock, not SIM lock, so they can get around the whole "well, our phones are sold SIM unlocked" bs. After calling a level two tech support, he told me that there is no such thing as a carrier lock or SIM lock, and he could not give me a code. The phone was able to make a voice call and send a normal text, but data sucked.

Sorry to disagree, but my SCH-i545 works on the AT&T network with an AT&T SIM installed.
I only get Edge because that's the only band that VZ and AT&T has in common in this area. Swapping out a SIM isn't going to fix that.
What you're finding about GSM locks applies to pre-LTE phones. The LTE phones are not SIM locked, aren't carrier locked. Period.
How to use SM-T677V Galaxy View Verizon Branded with a T-mobile or AT&T Sim Card ?
I bought a Verizon branded SM-T677V model Galaxy view paid in full and claimed unlocked by Verizon. Used the prepaid sim card for 2 months and now tried to try an AT&T or T-mobile sim card but keep getting messages that it is not a Verizon Sim card and i get no service.
Any ideas why this would happen and how to fix it ? Does that happen with other Verizon branded LTE tablets as well ?
If you put in a sim card other than the Verizon one, a window should pop up asking for the unlock code for the device. To get the code you need your IMEI number from the tablet and then you pay a 3rd party to give you the code for your tablet. Usually takes a day...

How do you get the " Sim Unlock network code " to show up? I can't figure out how to make it show.

Configure the correct APN settings when using either T-MO or AT&T sim card. HTH
Does anyone manage to get the sim lock unlock network code " screen? Still on Verizon lock
I don't think this is going to work. The internal radio has to support the correct spectrums. Even though most carriers have "LTE", it is not the same spectrum/frequencies. I doubt the radio in a Verizon tablet supports the other spectrums.

yes i went thru a similiar situation w/Verizons GVT and there is a slight internal diff in radios in this unit
that does not work on ATT TMO. The LTE radio holds on a diff frequency. Weird setup ....
