Hey, i installed twrp and flashed the supersu.zip directory. but then when i press reboot, another screen comes up saying to install supersu, but it is never allowed to finish in time as the phone reboots. When i try and open supersu after rebooting it says the binaries are not installed. Its really annoying because i want to get my phone rooted badly.
Any suggestions would be amazing.
Most of the custom ROM's already have supersu inside. If you want to install a custom ROM follow these steps in the tutorial section.

Can someone explain why this is happening:
After unlocking, I started with flashing stock-17.1.1.A.0.402-sirius-repack.img from http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/sirius and was able to get to the new recovery ok. I then proceeded to flashing superuser. After flash and reboot I tried installing busybox but the install failed (, I got the superuser prompt as expected but install still failed. Xposed framework also failed to install with error about not being able to write to system. AdAway also couldn't write to hosts file.
Then I flashed Doom's CWM-Based Recovery 6.0.4.7 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702001 and everything started working.. busybox/xposed/adaway installed fine etc.
Why couldn't I install the above when running TRWP?

I've experienced the same and found that the official TWRP Kernel doesn´t have enabled write permissions for the device.
Just take DooMloards unofficial build for .402:

I hope this helps you.
Cheers, yeah, I figured it was something like that..
I'm having a similar issue with adaway not writing the hosts file and Root Exporter can't change to R/W. I'm on 314, used Easy Root and installed Supesu from the play store. Is there any way around this without installing a custom.recovery?
@irishrally I had to remove SuperSU then flash ClockworkMod SuperUser to get AdAway to work right, with SuperSU it always failed to copy the hosts file, with CWM SuperUser it copies & applies it with no issues.
So either I suck or I literally have the process wrong, but I was trying to install 6.0.1 last night for 2 hours. Originally I had 6.0 installed rooted, twrp, etc. OTA didnt work because I'm guessing twrp was installed as it errored out. So I decided to take WUG downloaded the binaries/newest stuff and decided to just manually flash 6.0.1. However at the same time I wanted to use the decrypter tool here.
My process was/is:
Flash Stock/Unroot button in WUG (with newest 6.0.1 already downloaded
Root button and flash customer recovery button/checkbox
Flash the perm recovery zip, supersu, and busybox
Flash the decrypter zip
Wipe data/cache/system/davik/etc and then freshly reboot
The problem is, it just hangs on the animation screen and never loads. I've tried it twice now, and its driving me insane. Where could I have went wrong? What is flawed about my process or maybe I'm using the wrong stuff. Thank you in advance guys!

I don't think the NRT is updated to properly root on 6.0.1 (Could be wrong).
Get the Latest SuperSU-v2.62-3 and flash that, It will modified the boot.img for you and include no forced encryption.
As long as you remove the encryption of the data partion in twrp from this guide
You shouldn't need the decrypter zip, also if you flash TWRP and boot into it before booting the system, you also won't need perm recovery.
Going by what I have read, still encrypted on my Device.

ok so everytime I flash the supersu, it does its thing, then I format data, the reboot and twrp says supersu is not installed, do you wanna install it now? You can swipe to install or do not install.
Which I dont get becuase clearly I flashed the supersu zip a sec ago. if I continue to just flash it like it says, when I boot up, all I see in my drawer is the "SuperSU Installer" I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. If I dont have twrp install it when it asks, I got nothing in my app drawer
think I may have gotten it, had to download supersu from play store, then reflash, then let twrp flash it when it says it needed too, not I can launch supersu from the app drawer and it works.
Next problem is encryption. Under security it still says "Encrypted" do I need to actually hit the "Format Data' button in twrp? I just did a factory wipe slide.

If TWRP offers you to keep /system read-only, indeed keep it read-only.
If TWRP tells you SuperSU is not installed, and asks you to install it, do not do it, you will break things!

This is do with the new systemless root and TWRP needs to be updated to reflect this change.

11.Once in TWRP, hit “cancel” when asked for the password and then erase/wipe data and make sure MTP is enabled (dig around the menus in TWRP, it’s all in there somewhere). This erases the encrypted partition and allows you to use adb to push files to your sdcard.

Never had to get SuperSU app from the store, maybe because I already had it installed, the app is also in the SuperSU zip.
Hello alI, I need some help and advice. I have rooted my Sony Xperia Z2 D6503 (5.1.1) using Kingroot. I have installed SuperSU and it requires a TWRP or CWM recovery to update the binary. Where can I find the right one for my phone? The ROM manager app can`t find one. Also a tutorial would be helpful on how to install it. Now, my next question is: can I flash ROMs, install themes, enjoy all the other things of a rooted phone without a CWM recovery? Could you also guide me through my next steps after rooting? Any suggestions will be helpful and appreciated.
Super su doesn't require recovery to update the binaries... There is an option (when the su app says that the binaries need to be updated) that allows you to try and install the binaries via installing them and then simply rebooting your phone.
Additionally, search for some sort of recovery as 99,99% of the ROMs are meant to be installed via recoveries.
If you want to do something more than just rooting your phone you have to use a recovery.
I want to root my htc desire x and I more or less followed this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zdhyDky2MI and have so fare unlocked the bootloader.
At this moment I got twrp-2.6.0.0-protou.img installed.

I installed the latest version of supersu through twrp recovery. I did also give the install instructions on the twrp webpage a go but to no avail.

When i open supersu on the phone I get this error message (loosely translated from danish).
"no binary su program file installed and supersu cannot install one this is a problem"
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...uper-su-installation-failed-how-do-i-fix.html
http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...-binary-installed-supersu-cannot-install.html
I do not have root. When I install supersu with twrp recovery mode it delivers a successful message at the end of install however I see no text in the twrp terminal/console during the install of supersu.
I have android-tools installed on my distribution which delivers fastboot as well as ADB. I have not setup SDK and am wondering if that is coursing issues. Though I get no such error messages.
No need to mess yourself with SuperSU as it is included in the ROM. Pick a ROM of your choice (i.e. Vimiro) and install. I assume you are S-ON (look at the bootloader in top). If so, you need to pick the kernel out of the ROM (open the package with Winrar) and take out boot.img. Flash manually as you flashed TWRP: fastboot flash boot boot.img. Then install ROM-package.
I don't particularly want to install a custom ROM. Do I have to?
What I want to achieve is to be able to move or remove some of the bundled apps, e.g. chrome - in an effort to free up storage, to an ext formatted partition on the sd-card.

It is not especially needed but handy You discovered already the SuperSu thread, maybo the solution is over there? Sorry, can't help you on SU problems. If nothing helps give another ROM a try (after backup). Most of the ROM's have nice features (also with custom kernel) and a installer on which you can select apps to install or not.
Hello, so I wanted to root my phone. I went throught the process of unlocking my bootloader, after that the phone still booted up to the system.
Then I installed twrp, and at that point, the phone still booted up to the system. I believe my **** up happens on the next part, which is me putting supersu zip in the external sd of the phone, and then installing it through twrp, and now the phone wont go further than the Honor screen I can get to twrp and fastboot, I'm gonna try to install the stock recovery and stuff through abd now...

Follow steps given in this thread, it will work.
Next time back up your phone using TWRP.
Also you are probably stuck in bootloop as you installed version of supersu that is not compatible. Use superSU 2.62 and it should work.
