Hello,
Can I flash a Sony stock rom if my Xperia Z2 is simlocked ?
Best regards
Remove Sim and factory reset first just to be safe is what I would do. But just to be clear, Sim for network and MEID or do you mean the SD ?

No you don't need to unlock your sim to flash roms. My phone is locked to vodafone and i've flashed a bunch of roms without any problem.
Just remember that simlocked phones usually have an unlockable bootloader, so you have to use stock based roms.
Thank you,
It's done,

Hi everyone,
I have a X10a BL unlocked right now using MIUI Oddie v10 default kernel (FXP).
And about 4 day ago in my country every company is offering free sim unlock for all cell-phone. (we got a new law ).
We can achieve the sim unlocking introducing the IMEI of our cellphone and our cell-number in the carrier web page, but the PIN they send me is not working only in this phone.
Do i need to downgrade my firmware bts?
Thank you.

You could try the Flash tool given to us by Bin4ry and flash generic then follow the standard rom guide, thats how i did mine unlocked from Vodafone to originally get 2.3 standard, but lead to more xD
Xperia X10i
DonutHD 2.3.4
SE Kernel
Relock ur bootloader then try pal. If it works, don't unlock again (unless u used s1tool u may lose radio).

Does anyone know how to debrand Sony Xperia P from O2 in UK (or just in general) ?
I have done some searching and there is some question about boot loader locks on some providers' firmware. Is this the case for O2 UK ? Does the boot loader need to be unlocked to put on generic firmware or change model id ?
Here is a procedure I found for debranding Sony Xperia S:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/03/26/debrand-your-xperia-s-tutorial/
This seems to be just changing the id of the phone, which then allows the Sony update service to put on latest generic ROM
Can the same one be used for Xperia P ?
This is FINE for me, I don't need custom firmware I just want generic stock firmware
Sorry for newbie questions but this is my first Sony Android phone (and a beautiful one it is too - no idea why this phone is not more popular)
thanks in adavance!
Unlock your bootloader and flash the generic ics image... I think it will be the best possibillity

Flash the generic firmware with Flashtool ..,
No need to Unlock your BL ..,some devices have unlockable Bootloader..,
But Flashing firmwares with Flashtool doesn't require an unlocked Or locked BL ..
It's easy as it sounds.. =)

if have the xperia x10 mini pro sim unlocked by software if change the stock 2.1 rom to another rom, the Sim unlock will be gone?
No, SIM unlock is independent of the ROM. dont worry, flash another rom.
thanks for the answer.
i'm asking this because I read somewhere that if you sim unlocked the device by Software the unlock me be gone, but if you unlocked by imei it won't be gone

You're confused with bootloader unlock and sim unlock. Sim-unlock allows you to use any network-provider on your phone, Bootloader-unlock allows you to install a custom kernel to your phone.
If you want to unlock the bootloader to flash a custom kernel, your network may be lost, because your phone wasn't sim-unlocked using an imei code, but it's not that your sim-lock is activated again.
You can get your network back by flashing back to stock Sony Ericsson kernel and then restoring your bootloader using S1Tool.
Hello, I just bought a Z2 (D6503) that is never locked (SIM free), boot loader unlocked allowed YES but it has Vodafone firmware on it (Germany). Where do I get an EU generic firmware and how do I flash it?
Unfortunately Z2 is just released and there aren't any tutorials so that's why I'm asking you. Can I take the files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666849 and use this tool: http://www.flashtool.net/download.php to do it? Do I need to unlock the boot loader first? I would rather not do it if possible (yet).
Thank you.

I have the same phone. I have flashed this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2731891
Works great.
Greetings, XDA members.
I have a Sony Xperia Z Ultra SOL24 model (japanese model of japanese AU KDDI). I was thinking to install a custom ROM (Cyanogenmod), but the bootloader is locked and it is impossible unlock it.
If I change the stock ROM to another stock ROM of other Z Ultra model, can I then unlock the bootloader? If yes, what is it the best stock ROM?
Thank you.

If it's impossible (bootloader unlock allowed: No), the only thing you can do is send it to Sony.
But I am not sure if you can install roms from c68xx models. Might results a brick.

As my SOL24 shows "Bootloader unlock allowed: No", then I will not install any ROMs.
Thank you for the help.
