1. Download ROM.zip and the Gapps package of your choice (links in 2nd post). Copy them to your sdcard.
2. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP, dont be lazy
3. Clean up your sdcard (optional, recommended for clean base)
Delete every folder in sdcard/Android/data
Delete sdcard/MIUI (Only present if you come from another MIUI ROM)
This will delete all data for all apps! This will delete all your MIUI themes/wallpapers!
You can backup your wallpapers from sdcard/MIUI/wallpapers before you delete it!
4. (For ICS Users ONLY, if you are already on a jellybean rom, go to STEP 5!)
Extract the ROM.zip file on your computer and flash the boot.img with Flashtool or Fastboot
If you dont do this first, the ROM will not boot!
If you dont know how to do this or you dont have Flashtool or Fastboot installed, search the forum...
still problems? ask here ...
5. Boot to Recovery
6. Wipe Data/Factory Reset - Wipe Cache - Wipe Dalvik-Cache - Format /system
7. Install ROM.zip
8. Reboot
9. Go through setup process, then let it settle for a while!
10. Reboot to Recovery
11. Flash Gapps.zip
12. Wipe Cache - Wipe Dalvik Cache
13. Reboot one last time
This ROM has the same bugs as CM10 by FXP
So if you encounter a specific bug, you can always seach the dev thread first and see if it is fixed: LINK
- [BUG] Auto-Brightness doesnt work, drains battery, turn it off
- [BUG] WiFi hotspot does not work
- [BUG] APNs: Turn on Airplane Mode, then turn it back off, now it should work
- [BUG] Auto-Rotation: Turn off Auto-Rotation, then turn it back on, now it should work
- [BUG] All options under settings/sound/system will cause lag
- [BUG] Leds do not blink/stay constantly on. Issue with Phantom kernel.
+ MIUI Weather App:
Original MIUI Weather app only works in China!
Use Burgerz Weather App! Free from Play Store
+ Illumination bar fixer:
Use apk from here to get it working. It is turned off by default. Thanks @jioleight for the tip!
» Turn on MIUI Power Save Mode (Settings/Battery)
» Turn off WiFi-in-sleep (Settings/WiFi/Advanced)
» Setup CPU governor and I/O scheduler and Frequencies
Use a free app like No-frills CPU Control or, better, use an app which supports profiles depending on Battery percentage, like SetCPU.
Here is an example setup I use for SetCPU
For Battery between 100%-20%: Gov: wheatley IO: row @200-1000Mhz
For Battery between 20%-8%: Gov: lionheart IO: row @200-800Mhz
For Battery between 8%-0%: Gov: lionheart IO: row @200-400Mhz
For Screen-Off: Gov: powersave IO: row @200-200Mhz
I hope this helps :fingers-crossed:

So i guess i am the only owner of a Xperia P that loves MIUI and wants to discuss it
And I am also so excited for MIUI v5
So if no MIUI user is joining this, maybe the devs can share some info on how it is going with new builds, patches, progress?
I have the feeling that since jb is here, a lot more devs show up in the XP dev section, like @sijav
And we also got @dimon2242 and @Dron_GTR. Our russian friends :good:
I also dont want to spam the dev threads, so i wanna bring this up here. I was thinking miui v5 would be better based on CM10 than on stock rom. @sijav said stock would be better.
I wanted to mention that on MIUI v4 there were features on MIUI that didnt work on stock, like the CRT-off animation. Also it was a lot slower and more bloated because of the sony stuff running in the background and also MIUI at the same time. Also, isnt patchrom build to work with CM sources?

well I said stock is better because the bugs will be much less than CMs (or at least Radio will work, videos will run smoothly and tags can be used! )
compare to CRT-off animation I personally believe the radio alone is much more important than that
I have booted and have to say It was as smooth as a butter (really smooth) we can even remove the bloatwares as we want!
I am so excited on MIUI that's why I'm doing this everyday and patchrom is created for MIUI to create MIUI and it can be either based on cyanogen or stock rom,
and it doesn't need a source, any full CWM recovery zip rom will do
And thanks about this thread, It's a good one

I guess u are right
my main concern was performance but when all the Sony apps are gone, it could run just fine. also if I remember correctly @munjeni on the xperia go ran into problems he couldn't fix when building v4 based on CM9.1. that's why he switched to stock in the first place.
but also it meant that CRT-off was off the table cause it's kernel stuff. and it doesn't have to be like that on CM10. keep in mind that fxp are constantly improving their rom, while stock will stay as it is, for better or worse

thanks for that btw, I wasn't sure if patchrom can work with stock, this is great
if u want to, please share some more, I'm really interested, like which miui version is your rom based on? since u got it booting, u are now patching smalis? how is it going? ur having a hard time?
I really appreciate your efforts and can't wait for your first release

Yeah it booted but imagine no Wi-Fi and no network!
My first goal is to get network working so I'm working at telephony smalis right now (too many conflicts! more learning than doing anything though)
smali is a dalvik virtual machine code which is so close to machine machine compare to human language looking at it may cause a great headache! atleast the methods are highly like the java codes so I can make a really small scene from it!
well I download the latest patchrom_miui in 19 days ago so it is for May 16, 2013 not sure about the version though but when I get this rom working, for a public release I'll use the latest MIUI apks and changes
problems are so much, the first thing is some resolution configuration are wrong you can see the corners isn't right and a stupid dark highlight in bottom in settings, in massages there's an empty space between header and base! I'll try to fix these resolutions problems as soon as I could fix the telephony (and Wi-Fi ofcourse)!
I want to share my works but have no IDEA how to upload my files to github! (if anyone is able to tell me I will do it, however my internet connection has downloads limits, It will be free trough 1 to 8 AM local time so I have to upload these in those times!)
about hard time, my exams will end in next weeks so I will have more free time after that, but until then I can't have time!
We need MIU V5
Actually I use MIUI GTR on my XP from a long time, we need more interest from the developers, the Xperia P is the most forgotten phone, XP has more capacity than many others, and already others phones like xperia U and Sola has miu V5, I can't believe that happens to us, if up to me I change my phone for a xiaomi, because I really love MIUI but I can't find it, I think MIUI is the best Android layer of all companies in the world, samsung, sony, lg, motorola, htc sucks!!!! Wake Up Please... We need MIUI V5 on XP

thats bad, I read that in your dev thread.
So you are trying CM10 base now?
Maybe this can help you? This guy is trying to port MIUI v5 based on CM10 to the Xperia U. From what I could gather from that thread, he has phone/network running, but has problems with themes and also wifi. Look here: (ROM)(PORT)miui v5 base cm10 on xu
For theme bug, this seems to be the solution:
VocaloidBoy said:
for theme Bug may be you forget insert file invoke-as from MIUI V5 to system/xbin/ for fix it I think just put that file to system/xbin and put this string set_perm(0, 0, 06755, "/system/xbin/invoke-as"); to updater-script

I hope your exams went well!!! Now nothing can stop you from dev'ing!!!
And nice to see that you figured out how to upload your stuff to github Lets hope, that now the sources are online for everyone to see, many people start commiting patches

Yes, I tried out every new build that came to our forums, but I always came back to MIUI GTR, cause it is the best port of MIUI v4 for me. Others, like the stock based one were too laggy, and cm9 based stuff had too many bugs, like the "wifi-off during sleep" bug, that was never fixed in cm9.
And you are right, we dont have alot of devs here for our xperia P so we need to make sure the few we have, stay with us
You sounded a bit too demanding in your post, maybe it was unintentional... Dont forget that our devs do this in their spare time and get nothing in return for their work. So hammering on the thanks button every time a dev posts something for our device is a good thing to start

hope we can get somewhere!

Yes, I know it my friend, I always push the thanks button ,I just got carried away by the emotion of the moment, and know that MIUIv5 is so close to us, Also I wanted to ask you something more, Using MIUI GTR 3.2.22 One day my WIFI stopped working at all too and I re-flash kernel, and nothing. I ultimately had to re-flash the rom too, but it seems to me a very tedious process every time this happens to me, so... there's no another solution for that bug??? Thanks for your time and your effort

were you able to log in with your xiaomi account? without one you cannot download anything since they locked down the store...
keep an eye on the other sub-forums, many devs now working on v5, so maybe someone solved something before you. no need to do work twice
also I wonder what's up with @dimon2242 and @Dron_GTR? are you in contact with them?

I am with you dude. I just wish I could help patching the bugs, but I am just a very enthusiastic MIUI user and fan
MIUI GTR 3.2.22? can you link me to the version you are using? because I am not sure if you use the same one as me.
well, wifi problem: I used a wifi app to see if the hardware is still working and getting a signal. all was fine, good signal. But as soon as I tried to connect I always got the message "can't connect to network with poor Internet connection" or something like that, although that was definitely not the case. deep in the advanced wifi settings on stock roms there is an option to set if you want to connect to such networks, but I couldn't find this on MIUI.
so you also experienced exactly that?
I didn't make a logcat cause me personally can't fix it and development had sadly stopped, so no use for that logcat...
EDIT: Edited OP to make it more useful. Added MIUI rom reference for our Xperia P I will keep it updated and if you have more ideas for this thread, just let me know!
EDIT2: @sijav have you seen this port and this port of v5 on the XU section? First one has wifi working

I told earlier that no wifi neither network or bluetooth is working so that means no connectovity to outer world
but looks like the themes won't do any hurts,
I'm making great success on getting network working but after I update my miui folder in patchrom to the latest I encounter countless problem that couldn't figure how to fix it,
after update I'm currently stuck at upgrading massage and also no usb connectivity when on boot animation or at upgrading or at recovery so really I can't find the problem and really not sure what the heck should I do!
about contacting well I believe people have their own problems me too, that's why I'm doing it so slow!
Dron_GTR already told me he wants to help but he has a great deal with his college projects so he can't do any help
about wifi I think I've got where is the problem, but I can't even boot this rom to make sure if the problem will solve or not neither adb is working to give me working information!
about your problems with wifi!
Just delete the dhcp folder under /data/misc/ folder! (you need a root explorer or something like that!
In miui V5 we have option to turn this avoid poor internet connection on or off!!
about those ports I have seen the second port and already made something of that but for first port thnx and will find out what will I get but before I make this stupid USB connectivity on I really can't do something

maybe stay on the older patchrom folder then for now? you could always update to a newer version later once you got that one working...

folder deleted, thanks!
let's see if this happens again, because wifi works fine since last re-flash. but it was also fine the first time, then it suddenly stopped working.

And believe me I really feel with you, it sounds almost like you have to start from scratch
by the way: one thing I noticed while looking at your github page: codename for Xperia P is nypon, not nypone...
As I don't have the abilities to help you on fixing stuff, all I can do is upload this image of a silly goose, which will hopefully put a smile on your face and keep you motivated
Wi-Fi issues

This is a custom GApps package I created to work with x86 devices (namely, our tab) as the normal GApps packages available are arm-only. (and no, to those who would ask, it's not as simple as downloading PA-GApps and swapping the update binary. The actual files therein are NOT x86 compatible, namely, the libs.)
UPDATE 1: With the release of 4.4. for the P5210, I am pleased to announce that this is now a full, complete, stable GApps package
It contains everything found in the PA-GApps stock zip plus:
-Hackers keyboard
-Root browser
-Xperia home
note that Hacker's keyboard and Xperia home are just there in case google keyboard / google home don't work out of the box. I don't anticipate any problems, but just to be sure. After some feedback / testing i'll remove these if people want. Root browser however is here to stay.
UPDATE 2:
As of the 20140823 build, this is now a UNIVERSAL x86 GApps package, meaning it will work on ANY x86 device running 4.4.x with zero tinkering to the zip. I did this by using a slightly modified pa-gapps updater-script coupled with an x86 update-binary.
UPDATE 3:
The 20140826 build is mostly bug fixes. The updater-script in the 20140823 build was broken. This is now fixed. Google + was broken. This is also fixed.
Google keyboard was broken. This too, is now fixed.
Tested this build myself. All is well.
For those who want a ROM to try this with, head over to @moonbutt74 's thread "odds, ends tests". He posted a successful 4.4.4 build from a few days ago on i think the 4th or 5th post (though it is by NO MEANS dd ready. We're working on it)
DOWNLOAD LINK IS BELOW.
If you want to use this for any reason other than personal use, ask me first, unless you just want to include a link on your ROM thread. If you do want to include a link in your ROM thread, link to this thread, not the download link below.
Download link:FrankenGApps-x86-20140826
old builds:
20140823 build:
FrankenGApps-x86-20140823.zip
The updater script in this build is broken. On top of that, if you fix it yourself, google + and google keyboard are borked.
20140814 build:
FrankenGApps-x86-20140814.zip
This build only works with the tab 3 10.1.
Old legacy hackey build:
FrankenGApps-x86-20140813.zip
there is absolutely no reason to flash the 20140813 build over newer builds. The 20140813 build is an unstable / hackey 4.2 gapps port, I'm just posting it for reference purposes. Naturally this build is unsupported. Please download the new build(s) from OP.
if i flash the build of 14th then i stuck on samsung boot logo. firmware was stock rooted deodexed 4.4.2. i have tryed it twice but always stuck on boot logo.

I was sameway, so I just downloaded the update from "sammobile" installed it and used " super Su from chailfire to get root also used root explore to take out the apps I did not need.
@evilspawnas
@ghforlife
Why did you flash this on a touchwiz rom?
This zip is meant for aosp based ROMs like cm11. (I tested this package on @moonbutt74's wip cm11 build, works like a charm)
Besides, TW Roms have GApps built in

Oh, sorry, but all the other devices have cm 11, it´s like my normal behaviour to flash gapps... shame on me
Just updated to 20140823.
As of now, this GApps package is universally compatible with all x86 devices running 4.4.x. Zero tinkering to the zip necessary.
Just updated to 20140826. This build fixes updater-script, google keyboard, and google +. Read "update 3" in OP for more info.
Nice
Another stone in building our road to CM11. Thanks.
I know many will used this update.
To be honest, I am forced to used the market, but try to stay away from C I A applications. I am sorry did I say C I A. My apologies it is the Alzheimer, I mean Google.

These gapps are 6 years old and for older versions of android. Go to opengapps.org for android 7.1.2 based gapps.
And also why do you need instructions? Same as all gapps just flash the zip after flashing the rom

I have a tab 3 10.1 WiFi so if anything pops up around these threads I always have a look.
The tablet is still working fine for me without any gapps on it as I've found gapps are extremely heavy on such an old tablet. Instead I opted for a microg installation and it works perfectly (even being able to play games like bullet force or fwd assault) but i mostly use it for reading and cooking and that kind of stuff which it is perfect for.

Owhh, i see. I put this rom on my tab: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3/development-10/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3587761
It does lag sometimes, but i removed some of the GApps it came with. I mean, the second i removed playstore some other Google apps stopped working so i had to delete them too. It's a bit better, but i dont play games on it, it's still laggy i should've chosen another ROM but i guess this is fine. Which ones are you using? If you want we can talk in discord, or here if you want, which ever way you fele comfortable. I can share the apps i have and etc, since we have the same tablet, finally i found someone in 2020 having the same device as i have! Ha. I'm still here, so if you reply and i wont answer, i will answer later, i have schedule to follow that's why
Ill wait for your response, anywhere, if you want dm me here, chat in this thread or check my discord, send a friend request and tell me here ur name so I'd accept it. You can also find me in the XDA discord server.

Hey, where have you been?
I've got an S3 i9300, want to use it as daily driver.
I need an OS that is:
Stable and complete. GPS, Camera, Bluetooth etc.. works
Fast for regular usage (don't want to feel this is old hardware)
has security patches (e.g. stagefright)
preferably has the CM Privacy Manager.
no stock/bloated Samsung ROM
CM12 runs slow. BlissPop (CM12 based) runs slow. MinimalOS (Lollipop) fast but not stable or complete enough, LiquidSmooth old and not updated, AndroidRevolutionHD old etc...
I'm seeing dozens of Roms, I can't try them all.
Which ROMS do you recommend ?
Stock roms run the best. Custom roms are customisable.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

I myself use i9300 official CM 13 Nightlies but they are kinda buggy for now if you want a totally complete rom so use these:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-i9300-t3254215( use the latest build only for maximum performance )
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-aosp-i9300-t3207400 ( use Android 5.1.1 version )
And if you want any rom to run smoothly so you will need :
1. greenify
2. greenify donation pack
3. xposed framework
4. supersu
Use greenify to hibernate almost all system apps unless the ones make you buggy and slow like your launcher and Google now and Google services. And you'd better hibernate the user apps you don't need too. This can make you pretty fast and power saving.
Press the tnx:good: button if I helped you.

Wow, thanks for the detailed reply. I never knew Greenify was so important/impactful on overall performance.
I just tested the latest CM11 nightly and noticed it says "android security patch level December 2015". So that's good, it's secure.
One more thing, what are your thoughts on custom Kernels for performance ? I've tried Boeffla and saw a nice difference (with a slightly more performance oriented governor)

It depends on the OS version of your phone and on the build version either for example if you are on the build 20 of cm 12.1 boeffla can make you really fast but if you are on build 30 you have some instabilities coming with it ( as I tried it myself but you can try it too not so sure on this one ) but for the OS versions below 5.1.1 it is really awesome and heavily optimized and bugless.

Thanks, I tested boeffla-kernel-2.12-CM11.0-NG-i9300 with latest CM11 nightly. Phone works great, I think I'll stick with CM11 - I don't really need anything from newer android versions
I vote against greenify and any apps that task manage. Android will keep opening apps regardless of how many times you close them as that is the nature of the operating system. Just let it do what it wants and it'll eventually learn that you don't use that app.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

Then you vote for speed decrease and lags and battery drain and so. If you want them to happen on your device so NP then. And knowing that S3's ram is limited and low will make the problem worst. Yeah of course if I had note5 I wouldn't use greenify!!? We only use it to solve the low ram problems that everyone suffer from and you know Android is created to install tweaks and control it as you want if not you can buy an ios device and let it do everything for you.
Time Appropriate Greetings fellas!!!
This is my take on the AOSP 6.0 for Lenovo K3 Note....
AOSP_PURE is ported from Zopo Speed 7 just like it was done during the early lollipop days, with the help of few tutorials available on the internet I managed to port a stable marshmallow rom with few bugs obviously, its a learning process for me and those who wish to test it or modify it are welcome to do it but please credit me and people in my credit section and also please comment in the thread what u have done to correct the bug because in the end all we need is Fully functioning ROM and knowledge of how to do it....
AOSP PURE based on the latest firmware of zopo speed 7 with latest security updates. It is not a modification to zoromax port. This AOSP release has very few modifications so that the user can do whatever you want. Have fun!!!
Known Bugs
LED for stuffs
D2W
3G/4G Connection Issues
SMS Issues
Youtube Issues
Proximity not working during calls
SDCard Corruption
Camera doesnt open
Hardware Capacitive buttons not working (only software touch buttons)Cannot play Video or record sound
Comment if u find more....
this is a stable release except for the usual LED and D2W stuff....rooted, gapps installed, busybox and is MultiLanguage...
This rom comes as two versions ODEXED and DEODEXED
ODEXED ROM means the app have seperate odex files to make them open faster. The odexed rom usually boots quicker but the boot time increases as the number of apps installed increases. In general odexed roms are snappier than deodexed rom but modern smartphones have better processor to make this delay negligible.
DEODEXED ROM means the the odex files are placed in apk instead of being a seperate file, so every time an app is opened it is extracted to load the odex file in memory which takes more time than having odex files outside. But again in current gen processors the delay is negligible. Deodexed rom has long intial boot time but after the first boot no matter how many apps are installed they boot at the same time.
WARNING TEST THIS AT UR OWN RISK....BACKUP EVERYTHING U HAVE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING...
Boot into TWRP recovery
Wipe Dalvik Cache, Cache, System and Data
Flash the file
Reboot....

Thanks for providing the first stable AOSP 6.0 experience! I am using 1.3 now for more than a day not as a daily driver. It's stable, however I feel that stock 6.0 is more smooth due to I think better memory management. I am a light user, no games, mostly youtube/chrome/gmail.
Time Appropriate Greetings fellas!!!
This is my take on the AOSP 6.0 for Lenovo K3 Note....
AOSP_VIBE is based on the latest VIBEUI Dev edition released for K3 Note by Lenovo and so it has the bugs that will be present in that release. This rom is developed with the idea to have the best of both words which is the simplicity of AOSP and the features of lenovo tied to K3 note, its a learning process for me and those who wish to test it or modify it are welcome to do it but please credit me and people in my credit section and also please comment in the thread what u have done to correct the bug because in the end all we need is Fully functioning ROM and knowledge of how to do it....
AOSP VIBE based on the latest firmware of VIBEUI with latest security updates. It is a cleaned up, no nonsense lighter edition. Face it, whatever rom we port it is not going to be better than VIBEUI compiled with the complete source of K3 note. So have the experience of AOSP in VIBE...have fun...
Known Bugs
Whatever the bugs listed for the latest vibeui.
this is a stable release....rooted, busybox, gapps, xposed but no MultiLanguage i.e only eng and cn...also replaced Maaxwave with DSP + which has Dolby, Beats, Surround, SRS, Clearaudio libs...
WARNING TEST THIS AT UR OWN RISK....BACKUP EVERYTHING U HAVE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING...
Boot into TWRP recovery
Wipe Dalvik Cache, Cache, System and Data
Flash the ROM
Reboot....

never had an issue
st 1.3 released
everything is good except some module in xposed not working .
this rom is good!
would be better if dolby is pre-isntalled rather than dsp+ anyway just a minor problem, have removed the dsp and installed dobly. now its perfect!
this rom got some problem.
I think build.prop need to add ro.product.locale.region and ro.product.locale.language.
Because i notice my phone unable to find "dead trigger 2" and "unkilled " and after two line added. These game show in my play store.
And some xposed module unable to use it, wechatunrecalled.
Except this two minor bugs, this is a total good rom ! With good ram management.
Battery Backup and VR Mode?
Is the battery backup good? And is VR Mode present in the ROM?
Please update do dev 1631 cuz it's great rom! Btw I can't flash this version because of error 7 in twrp. Tried multiple times, downloaded twice and with different twrp versions
Wait. If the base is vibe dev.. how is it AOSP?

I think they placed AOSP launcher on top of VIBE base and called it AOSP VIBE

Can i flash it on my lenovo a7000-a plus?
ROM seems to work well. All major functions appear to be operational, and it is nice to see AOSP-ness (don't think that is a word, but hey). A few minor issues though:
Firstly, I removed the theme centre because it was frankly, annoying. I don't need themes, but one thing that gets broken during removal is the ability to select ringtones. I can download Zedge and pick something from there, but it's not the same. Is there a way to get the standard ringtone picker back?
Another little issue which does get annoying (I suppose you get used to it) is that scrolling acceleration seems to be exaggerated. I notice this on a lot of MTK ROMs, so I am not sure if this one is fixable.
The last little issue is that there is some Chinese text in the dialer and phone apps. I don't access to my K3 Note at the moment (I'm travelling and my mum uses it), but I was wondering how the Google Phone and Google Contacts app worked on this device:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.contacts&hl=en
If it were possible to replace the stock dialer and contacts app with the Google equivalent that would be awesome. If someone has some feedback that would be great. So far I am finding this the most stable ROM for this device
Edit: There's another issue, which I can't explain, how sometimes my internal storage goes "missing" and the entire contents of my internal storage gets moved to data/media/sdcard/, and the new internal storage becomes /data/media/sdcard/0, where there isn't any data. Really bizarre, and certainly disconcerting for my poor mum who now uses this phone.
