Quick guide to utilize a rom for one variant of the Galaxy Alpha with another as long as it is based on the same processor (ex: G850F, G850M)
In the general development section it is clear that G850F from is used more often than the G850M roms. One of these modded roms is from citymen34 at this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...anrom-aroma-lollipop-v1-0-16-05-2015-t3109816
and I wanted to give some instructions on how to make the G850M work with that rom by modifying the ZIP file. I have asked for prior permission to allow the modification of the ZIP file otherwise I would not have posted this.
1. Download his rom (currently V2.5) and save a copy in a folder separate for later modification
2. Download the most current G850M official rom from Sammobile : http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G850M/ (it has to be the LP version, currently 5.0.2)
3. Use 7-ZIP to open the samsung TAR file and locate the two files: modem.bin and boot.img and save them into the same folder as the modded rom from step 1
4. open the ZIP'ed modded rom also with 7-ZIP and navigate to the subfolder called 'ozcan'.
5. in that folder are the same file names boot.img and modem.bin that now need to be replaced with the ones we just extracted from the original G850M TAR file in step 3
6. now folllow the same instructions on citymen34's thread of the original rom by using TWRP
Two things that I have noticed:
1. My VM message counter is in a foreign language (not US English)
2. In the about screen the model number is now stated as G850F instead of G850M, however this is just a text not an actual indication that the hardware is now different
This is really useful. Have you flashed an 850f kernel?
If I could find a SM-G850T rom, you think it would work on a SM-G850M? Same processor for both, or so say the data sheets. Don't want LP, would want KitKat.
can work on g850Y?
how should i do ?
Please make a port
Why you do not ask permission to ozcan to make a port of his rom and compile in a flashable zip , the 850M, has nothing support we dont have any rom whit S6 goodness... PLEASE HELPS US.. SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH

I have received requests to customize the 1.72.187 UK ROM for Asian users. As requested, here it is.
This extended ROM is based on the latest UK release of 1.72.187, and was customized for asian users of the XDA II.
All the latest versions of the software in the base ROM are included, minus all O2 UK custom settings and software, however all configuration settings are set to the old Asian extended ROM version 1.60.44.
I also added the latest drivers/software for the Socket Communications SDIO Wifi card and the XDA II Thumb Keyboard which automatically install as a part of the post install tasks.
I had to remove the Java MIDlet Manager included in the base ROM since the size limit of the extended ROM was exceeded, and I also removed the O2 Active UI since it is customized for O2 UK users. I included the installer .CAB file for the MIDlet Manager in the .ZIP file so that it can be installed manually after the ROM upgrade if desired.
CHANGES from the other custom ROM (1.72.181):
1. Based on the UK ROM version 1.72.187
2. No Blackberry support
3. Added the ClearType font fix from ROM version 1.60.44
4. Added the Extended ROM Viewer patch (Extended ROM can now be seen in File Explorer)
I have already tested it on my Xda II and I had no problems with flashing it and I am currently experiencing no issues with it whatsoever.
THe download is available further down in this thread, I removed the old download because it was corrupted.

Would you consider to put in the SRS rotation and key as well?
Also, can you provide a brief guide for how to install the file?
The files you attached is just the nbf file. Also, what's the use for the password?
Thanks again.

When the SRS backporting to the Xda II is at its most stable stage, I will include it in the extended ROM, as of now I feel its still unstable, although I feel that the guys working on it are doing an excellent job (my personal opinion).
To use the file is just 3 steps:
1. Extract the contents of the original UK ROM update (Xda_II_172187_Final.exe) into any directory of your choice with WinZip.
2. Extract the ms_.nbf from the custom ROM I posted into the same directory that you extracted the files from step 1, overwriting the original ms_.nbf.
3. Run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe executable to flash your device.
The password is for users whou would like to further customize the ROM where openning it up requires a password. I only posted the extended ROM since it was the only part of the original ROM that was customized, and posting the entire ROM would just result in a larger download.
Many thanks.
Understood now.
Tried the ROM but have problem with my C-guys wifi card....
Not sure whether it is the wlan software has some conflicts with the C-guys driver, have uninstalled the wlan software and will try the C-guys card again.

Shalom my middle eastern buddy :] If you wanna get hebrew just get the Arabic RTL files
framework.jar
lib__bcore.so
libandroid_runtime.so
libicuuc-arabic.so
libwebcore.so
These are the files required from any arabic based ROM, They contain Hewbrew and Arabic, it's easy to make a CWM flashable as long as you have these files, Once you do, you can copy these files to any other firmware and have Hewbrew. Would save you time than waiting for an upload that less likely responds.
Hello Misledz, "kif halack? "

Full hebrew support is based on the RTL language pack, Which is exactly why the list is somewhat long? They cover
-Options
-Web Browsing
-Display/Alignment, etc
thanks Misledz, I will remember that if I need it in other cases but this time i meant that i want that all the menus will be also in hebrew, and i dont think it will do that
thats why I need the rom
please if anyone have it please post it
thanks

I tried copying the files from a P7500 rom that had Hebrew support. When I set the language to Hebrew, it set everything to Hebrew in the settings app. Maybe what he's suggesting might work... when I tried it, it took copying files to /system/app, /system/tts, and /system/fonts. at least. You're wanting Android to show everything in Hebrew if it knows a Hebrew version? Copying those files and setting it to Hebrew should work if that's the case.

Yeah this was what I was trying to insinuate over the fact that doing so might give him complete hebrew support over any custom ROM such as Overcome?
Oh i was thinking that it will only support hebrew, only right to left writing and fonts, i didnt thought that he meant also to the system language so "shukran" Misledz and "toda" to aroni125
I will try it now
will this method of copying these files from one rom to another will work also on other android based devices( smartphones for instance)?

Not really since the framework.jar saves the layout of the phone in terms of the menu toggles/notifications so its best to grab it from a 10.1 ROM since most regional HC 3.2 ROM's are the same based from the version released initially in Europe

Those 3 files should be perfect enough , Just add these files to the respective folder (Overwrite if necessary) of the ROM you desire. Make sure that if you are using a theme on your tablet, you may have to have a deodexed version of the framework.jar or you may end in a FC loop oh and make a nandroid backup! So you can revert if you mess up
I tried to deodex framework file (yes I had boot-loop, but its ok I have backup hehe

Is this on stock? or a custom ROM? as far as I know you can pull out the required files from any arabic based ROM, just the framework.jar has to match the firmware/device.
I took it from an Hebrew stock (3.2 P7500)
thats why I need to deodex it
if you can recommend me an arabic based rom(so i can take its deodexed framework) it will be a good solution too.

Well as far as I know deodexed is only required IF and only if you are using a theme, Like Overcome's theme or such. if you are on a stock firmware, then you can simply replace the files. I'll try to get a friend to help out on this, all is good except the framework.jar, don't need to deodex if it's a stock firmware
yes the files are from ODEXed version and I want to put then on DEODEXed version
I did deodexed at the end the framework jar but the result was many files and dirs.
should I put them all on the deodexed version (overcome)?

Nonono, Apparently you only need to grab the deodexed version of framework.jar (If you use xUltimate then it should be in the /doneframework folder) you don't have to push everything that was deodexed, we only need the deodexed version of framework.jar
NOTE: Which firmware version did you take? I've been looking in the Sammobile site for the middle east edition but someone mentioned here that there is only 1 version which has hebrew? Has 3.2 update even reached the middle east yet? I assumed it didn't.
I will work on this tonight :] Thank you for the update.
I will try to deodex the odexed hebrew version (its 3.2) with xultimate as you suggest (which frankly it sound way more logic )
and then, copy the framework jar file after its deodexed
Im going to do this again with this version now, since I finally put my hands on it just now: http://www.wupload.com/file/2667418427/
It's given by task a while ago (3.2, STOCK, 3G) it also have Eng, Arabic and Hebrew(default) and it work on my WIFI version too
and thanks for advocator for updating the link )
I will keep update too,
Lotte

use this thread to start porting
BASE and PORTED must be the same CPU. e.g. ARMv7, ARMv6, ARMv5
BASE & PORTED should be the same Android version.
If you are porting a custom GB ROM, then use a GB BASE, the same goes for ICS and JB
Make sure both BASE & PORTED are deodexed (It's hard to port an odexed ROM)
thank you for the fast reply!
but as i can read on the guide that you suggested to me:
if you do not have a GB/ICS/JB already compiled for your device, then this Guide is useless for you.

How To: Extract a Kernel From a ROM
There's a kernel you like, but it is only available packaged with the developer's ROM. You like the features of a different ROM, but want to use the kernel of the first ROM. Or maybe you want to keep your stock ROM, but use a kernel packaged in a custom ROM. What do you do? You extract the kernel (this sounds a lot cooler than it actually is).
Standard disclaimer: this procedure should not be done by anyone ever. But if you do do it and blow your phone up into tiny little pieces, I am not responsible.
You might have noticed that all ROMs and kernels come in zip files, which you install in ClockworkMod Recovery or Team Win Recovery Project. Ever tried looking in one of those zip files? You'll find a bunch of files and folders. One of these files, called "zImage", is the kernel. Here is how to take a kernel out of a ROM to use in another ROM or by itself, in 3 (you should already have done step 0 but I put it there just in case) easy steps:
0) Make a backup of your phone using Recovery. This is extremely important - if you mess anything up, you'll have a system backup as a restore point. If you don't know how to do this or what I'm talking about, your not screwed.
1) If you don't already have it, download Root Explorer or ES file manager - this will let you view and modify the internals of zip files without extracting them. This is important because other users have reported problems with the unzip ROM>modify ROM>re-zip ROM method.
2) On your computer, unzip the ROM you want to extract the kernel from (it's ok to unzip this ROM since you won't be flashing it) and find the "zImage" file. It will be in a folder called "kernel_update". Set this file aside.
Now, if you are putting the extracted kernel into a ROM that comes with its own kernel, go to step 3a. If the ROM does not come with its own kernel or you want to install the extracted kernel without a ROM, go to step 3b.
3a) Place the ROM you plan on flashing as well as the extracted "zImage" file onto the root of your phone's SD card. Using file manager, look inside the ROM and find the "kernel_update" folder and delete the "zImage" file there, then replace it with the "zImage" from step 2. That's it, you're done! Now just boot into Recovery and flash.
3b) This step is for installing the extracted kernel by itself, and for users who want to use the extracted kernel with a ROM that does not come with its own kernel. To insert a kernel into a ROM that does not come with its own kernel is beyond the scope of this guide (it's a bit messier). So for those users it is easiest to first flash your ROM, then flash the kernel as a separate zip. To do this, first download any stand-alone kernel. Then place both the stand-alone kernel as well as the "zImage" from step 2 onto the root of your SD card. Using file manager, Find the "kernel_update" folder in the stand-alone kernel zip, delete "zImage" and replace it with the "zImage" from step 2. That's it, you're done! Now just boot into Recovery and flash.
