I notice after the 5.1.1. update recently. My phone starts to overheat (severely) you can cook bacon on it. I have done factory reset, wipe cache partition and still the overheating issue.
2nd, battery drains very fast. Before, i use my phone for more than 24 hrs. now maybe less than 16 hrs.
anyone had the same issues?
Try updating your prl and profile. It sounds like a searching for network issue.
I have another problem after last update. I can't connect to internet. I connect, via wifi or mobile data, and every page I open says "Connection refused". Even whatsapp, even chrome, even everything. So I restart the phone and works for 1 minute more or less, and then the same. So I downgraded to first 5.1.1 and works perfectly.
So strange

Hey there. I`m having similar problems with wifi since last 5.1.1 upgrade. How did you do to downgrade to the first 5.1.1? Thanks a lot!

WHAT firmware and what version of whatsapp are you using?
Is your wifi kicking out a good signal?

I have the exact same thing, no matter what Rom, firmware, kernel, version of Whatsapp, router, modem, whatsoever. It sometimes just happens, no idea why.
When this happens I have a good signal. I'm on 2.3.6, and have the latest whatsapp version.

What did the Whatsapp developers say when you contacted them?
yeah these issues still exist... got it now on my device.
got I9100 on latest cm10 nightly (8th Sept.) with latest whatsapp version. and if you read all comments on the market you'll see that many ppl got these problems. sad
same issue here with i9300 stock ics
it works only on mobile data and when i turn the wifi on Whatsapp doesn't work
tired of deleting and reinstalling but same issue !!!
BTW my device is not rooted ..
i have been using what's app for good 4-5 months now and today i just got this issue. whats app won't work on wifi unless i turn it off and turn 4g on. i tried uninstalling and deleting the folder and did a clean install. it still won't work.
Just hit me last night
Got the same prob since last night!!!
tired to uninstall and reinstall it + boot my device million times and still won't work over wifi but my damn slow edge network!!
i have sent a email to whatsapp costumer's service and still waiting for their reply
These are issues related to the whatsapp Servers or sth. For me it works again. Without reinstall and so on. Just wait ... and tell them bout the problems
I've had this same problem for at least 6 months... doesn't work on WiFi but is fine on data...
What seems to happen is when you turn on WiFi it works fine for a while... but then stops getting or sending messages completely... just sometimes randomly it may start working again... say if you have lots of messages backed up to receive... at times it may start working again... but that means asking you people to bombard you with messages and still its not a sure shot solution...
Quite annoying I must say... especially considering reception is really bad in lots of areas and WiFi is the only way...
WIFI Whatsapp
Sort of same problem here, when i am on wifi and whatsapp and my phone is on there is no problem receive and send.
But when the phone is on standby after 10 to 15 min no more messages receiving, wifi is on.
when i turn the phone on and open whatsapp the messages pop in....
On data without wifi no problem.
WIFI setting always on.
Same problem buy not consistent. I have found a kind of fix, if your rom supports it, I use the long press back to force close function, then restart usually solves it. Alternately, pressing home, then swiping it off the task switcher sometimes helps too. Sometimes all you have to do is wait it out.
Was this problem solved in any of the updates. It appears as though I'm having this problem on one of my phones. It's the stock ROM with great wifi signal.
EDIT: I realize this is the S2 forum and my problem is an the optimus, but I am inclined to believe this is a whatsapp problem

The same problem started happening in the past couple of days. I a using CM 9.1. I enabled the Kill Application on long press of back button and you're right--After I did that and launched WhatsApp, the waiting messages (with the clock icon) went through and I got a check mark, then two.
Weird. All the other apps are working fine with Wi-Fi.
Same problem on my HTC sensation

I travel a lot and i was in India Last week and this week i am back in germany and it suddenly stopped working on saturday.
Any Solutions would be really appreciated.
Try this! Worked for me !!
I used VPN which worked for me . But i wanted a permanent solution. So I upgraded the modem firmware. Now it is working fine
Sorry to post here, but Im facing the same problem on my galaxy s5. I've tried a lot of things and nothing seems to fix it. I've changed my wifi router and the problem persists.
anyone came with a solution?
The problem is on the wifi router. I changue my router two days ago and i hadnt no problem with the old one.
If you retry to download pictures, it gonna works, but its really slow. Try to changue your wifi router to a newone
***********SOLUTION*****************
Guys,
I have also faced the same problem and here is the solution:
There is a Problem which started on 10th November. BSNL has blocked whatsapp.. BSNL users can not use whatsapp through wifi or dongle.
But there is a solution for this.. :
Install " vpn one click" or "Easy Surf VPN" app
Connect to India server
Or any country
Once ur done with this, u can use whatsapp and all the other sites blocked by BSNL
Enjoy Whatsapping

Hi there,
First time poster - So, "Hey guys!"
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (Hence the post in this sub-forum,) running on Cyanogenmod 9 (10/04) nightly.
For quite some time, i've had issues with loading videos from the youtube application on my mobile network. Wifi works perfectly fine.
Whenever I go to load a video, it always comes up with, "Connection to server lost, touch to retry."
I'm able to bypass this, by enabling HQ (On or off) and the video loads perfectly.
However, this is only a work around - The issue still remains. It's quite annoying, as It's worked once or twice in the past (This was when I was running stock, without root.)
I've tried everything I can think of. (Reflashing to stock (Rom and kernel,) rebooting, fixing permissions, clearing dalvik cache etc, etc, etc...)
I searched for this exact issue all night last night, and half the day today at work - All to no avail.
Does ANYBODY have the same issue and or know about fixing it?
Many thanks,
Josh
Uninstall ur youtube and install again from play store. Or try to remove google account and re-enter ur account.
I am having the same problems.
Does this not have something to do with the 4.0.4 data problem that has been reported?
Reinstalling youtube doesn't help me.

just refresh it a couple of times .. works for me
OK I messed about with different ROM versions and nothing happened even after a factory reset.
Also updating youtube didn't work.
However I have just installed the latest build 31 of Team Kang and installed an older gapps package from Feb 12 (instead of the Mar 12 package).
Youtube then updated itself automatically on reboot and now works fine off wifi.
It didn't have anything to do with 4.0.4. I stand corrected.

I have a Galaxy S2 running CM9RC1 and I'm having exactly the same problem. I've tried GApps packages signed from March and April to no avail.
YouTube's mobile site works fine. The YouTube app works fine over WiFi. It fails to load any videos when I'm connected using 3G though and returns the error above.
I've tried a factory reset, cleared cache, uninstalled/reinstalled the YouTube app, tried enabling/disabling HD from within the YouTube app, tried a number of different APNs, selected/deselected the option to preload videos, ensured my flash player is up to date, reflashed CM9 and reinstalled GApps. I've been Googling a couple of hours now and I'm beginning to lose the will to live! :crying:
Everything worked fine prior to me rooting my phone and flashing CM9. I was originally running the official Vodafone UK ICS rom.
I'm beginning to lose faith that I'll be able to fix the problem so would appreciate any suggestions?
TIA,
Bob.
Edit: Well no sooner have I posted that I think I've managed to crack it. I navigated to Settings > Location Services > GPS Source, and noticed that the radio button to use the internal GPS wasn't depressed. I selected it, backed out and now things seem to be OK.

I'm having the same problem. My GPS Source was also unselected but selecting it hasn't made any change to the situation. I'm not sure how GPS can effect Youtube performance?
I've had the same issue with youtube on both my Epic Touch 4G (Galaxy S2) and Nexus 7 device.....but only at my house. Youtube works perfectly elsewhere. Can it be something with my home wifi network? The nexus 7 is wifi only and I have never been able to get youtube to work at my house but it works when connected to other wifi networks elsewhere. Also, my mother-in-law is visiting this week and her kindle fire will not play youtube while in our house, getting the same "Connection to server lost, touch to retry" error message.
All signs point to something being up with the wifi network but I don't know how to solve this issue.
Wound up being Comcast's throttled DNS. All good now.

Try looking at the apn you are on in your settings. Mine was on EPHRD. Moved it ti LTE and now you tube is working again.
I have the SGN2 WITH SPRINT.
disable "restrict background data" from data usage. or if you have any firewall apps disable it then try. hope it will work for you as like me.
sorry for my bad english
I know this has been discussed before, but after hours of searching last night on google, i have come to a standstill.
Has the wifi constant disconnect / reconnect been addressed.
Cheers.
re
looks like i will have to post my own reply.
I have reset the phone, and now it holds my wifi connections and does not disconnect.
Id suggest that if you have the same wifi disconnect and reconnect issues.. try a factory reset.
It connects fine, it just doesn't receive any data. I have tried flashing the stock modules. That didn't seem to help, I"ll keep trying hopefully when an decent AOSP rom appears i'll flash that and it'll correct the problem
Thanks

Is this with all wifi or just at your house, may be your equipment, does another phone have trouble connecting?
re
i just noticed last night something interesting, but not sure if it means anything to anybody else.
I have installed the chrome browser and have been using that for the last few days.
I connected to my home wifi and cruised around the web for an hour with no issues.
I decided to try the stock android browser and it would not load, like the wifi signal was gone.
i went back to my chrome browser and there was no issue loading new web pages.
I went back to my stock browser and reset it back to defaults and bamm it was working like the chrome browser with no hiccups.
Not saying this is a fix.. but it worked for me!

i was having trouble at work and at home.
Tried every wifi/wpa setting/channel/encryption/speed etc.
i have 5 other wifi devices that have no issues.
But after resetting my phone and then running chrome / clearing , resetting my stock browser .. all is good in data land.
edit.. just tested out my work wifi with the stock browser for about 10 min.. not one issue.
I have had success forgetting the Wi-Fi network that is causing issue and then reconnecting.

HI to all, I am having a weird issue, I have both devices (listed in my Signature) which happen to give me a No connection - retry error every time I go to check my email, or even if I go to the Inbox folders such as Forums, I am all the time receiving No Connection Retry.
- I have tried clearing cache and data ,restarting, email shows up fine, after a couple of seconds I get the no connection again.
- I also did a full wipe on my tablet and have done everything from scratch practically, a couple of seconds later I receive the no connection error.
- I have also tried a different wi-fi connection, and also tried a 3G connection and the issue still persists.
I am really at a loss with this as it is really annoying; is anyone having similar issues or might suggest another work around for this please?
Thanks for any help.
Same thing happening to me, and lots of other people too it seems. Please update if you find a solution!

Hi there its been a while now since i have been having this problem, since gmail's latest update actually, i do not have these errors anymore, and i never used droidwall or anything else.
Thanks.
Hi,
I recently moved from my old Xperia Z to the Xperia Z2 that I got from my brother after he upgraded, anyway, everything seems to work fine except the WiFi, it initially working fine after turning the phone on, then, after a random amount of time it will just freeze, meaning it still shows as connected but no matter which network I connect to, there's no Internet connection in any app, while at the same time other devices have no problems, tried disconnecting and reconnecting to a network, even turning the WiFi off and the on again, nothing helps until I reboot my phone.
After rebooting it starts to work again, till the next time it happen, so far it happened up to 3 times a day, it's really frustrating.
My phone is running the latest Marshamallow 6.0.1, build version 23.5.A.1.291, using a pre-rooted ROM, Locked bootloader if it even matters.
Any ideas how to solve the problem?
Thank you.
You can start with flashtool 0.9.18.6 and flash data again.

Thanks for the reply but...
Well, OK, it seems the problem isn't exactly as I first described. It seems only some apps looses Internet connectivity, while others continue to work fine, for example, I can surf the Internet in Google Chrome or play games like top eleven that requires Internet connection while at the same time I lose connectivity in social networking apps such as instagram, twitter and Facebook, sometimes also other apps (aliexpress for example).
Once again though, seems only a reboot helps. Weird, isn't it?
Anyone got ideas?
