Adding AC3 support to stock video player / Allshare video streaming - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone had any luck adding support for AC3/DTS audio codecs to stock video player? I've tried methods in this thread, designed for 32-bit devices running KitKat, http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-sound-support-galaxy-tab-pro-8-4-tw-t2964732, but it didn't do anything on my Galaxy S6 Edge.
Dice Player, MX Player of course have the necessary support for these codecs. But when it comes to streaming videos to TV via an Allshare Cast Wireless Hub, only the stock video player is able to play directly to TV "DLNA style", rather than just mirror screen. And that results in considerably smoother playback..
What's your best combination of software/hardware for streaming videos from your phone to TV?

I use vlc player.

[Q] DLNA Streaming and Transcoding

Is there a way to use AllShare (or some other app) that will allow to transcode video while streaming over DLNA?
What I wanted to do is to stream mkv video files to a PS3, as the SGS2 (and other apps like mxvideo) support it on android, can this be transcoded to mpeg2 or other codec so the PS3 can play them when streaming from the phone?

which video player do you use?

Wondering which ones you guys use on X2.
I want to be able to play some 720P videos streamed from my NAS device.
I tried MX player (just ok), so far, dice player appears to be working well, but wondering what else is out there.
Thanks.
VLC will always be king in my book, both on mobile and desktops... Nothing else compares to it
from my X2 roaming the north
mVideoPlayer is my player of choice.
I havent really looked into third party video players yet. Are there any video players where you can adjust the brightness, contrast, etc.?
Just using stock but open to suggestion's..
Issue with stock:
Many videos will play without audio.
No stream play capability = must copy files internally from my NAS server.
I am currently using MX video player. Works pretty well.
Just wondering what people are using.
Thanks.
I had the same deal, streaming DLNA
here are a few tries for you

Wrong thread.
i too use mx video player. most versatile one ive found so far
I use BSPlayer lite
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bsplayer.bspandroid.free&hl=en
Supports mkv, subtitles, hardware acceleration and has built in samba support for streaming files over network.
Haven't tried it on my X2 since I don't watch videos on it but works great on Xoom.

I noticed that mx player can NOT do hardware decode over SMB network stream.
Once I move the file locally, it plays fine.

[Q] Media Player for streaming video from tablet to TV

I am playing mms streams from the web using Daroon Player. It is free and works fine.
But I also want to throw these streams to my TV (wdtvlive)
Daroon Player does not seem to be capable of throwing video anywhere.
Standard Sony Video Player can throw video. But it does not read mms streams from the web.
I tried several other media players from the Android Market like Mobo and VPlayer but they don't seem to work with mms either.
Any suggestions of a good free or paid media player that would handle both?

How can I get MKVs to play with DTS with default player

I just bought a 9205 and coming from using my Note 2, I miss playing all of my videos with the default player rather than using MX player. I don't know how or why it works but originally I couldn't play such files on the Note 2 with the audio working, but all of a sudden it did. Now, I would like to do the same with this 9205. How is it done without another player (since I sometimes stream my files to my Samsung TV with Allshare) and without remuxing the files? Thanks.

Bump cause I'm also interested.
The Note 2 stock video player supports AC3 but not DTS audio. The Mega doesn't support either of them (So that Sammy could save on the license fee).
On my Note 2, I have to use Dice player and a DTS plug-in in order to play MKV with DTS audio.
I plan to use the Dice player with the appropriate plug-ins to play MKV with AC3 or DTS audio on the Mega. Maybe you could try that too. You could find those plug-ins on XDA.
Try Archos media player.
Thank you for the replies. I am going to have to do some further research. I was looking at my video files and the audio codec embedded are saying DTS, yet they are playing correctly within the default player. Because of the allshare feature, I do not wish to use a third party player. I actually like using allshare more so than miracast since it streams files without stuttering, but that is a different topic. Thank you again for the replies.
mx player supportet.

MX Player Issues

Streaming Movies with MX Player, Movie just stops. No Issues when running VLC Player. Streaming thru Terrarium TV Apk.
Settings in Player don't seem to make a difference.
Thanks!

Try ARCHOS player. It's far better than MX. The interface is great, the sound goes Dolby trough HDMI.
