Apologies if this should be posted elsewhere, but while we have a way to get rid of the annoying popup that shows up when we turn up the volume, it always resets the volume below the red line when you stop playing music.
The next time I want to play something, I have to turn the volume back up. It's annoying.
(I have searched, but haven't seemed to find anything helpful.)
Does anyone know how to disable this volume limiting? Thanks.

I'm trying to figure out how to silence the media applications on the phone when it's set to vibrate. I would like it to not accidentally make any noise at all when it's set to vibrate. What am I doing wrong here? There must be a way!
There is a great app in the market place called Volume Control. It allows you to adjust volume for System,Ringer,Notification,Media,Alarm and In Call independently. You can also control the Vibration and Save/Load 2 different states.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks for the response!
I realize maybe I'm just thinking a little too simple here, but there's no way to tie it to the phone ringer volume? Once the phone is set to vibrate shouldn't all sound be muted? Maybe I'm just used to the way my old phone worked. Basically I accidentally hit pandora during a lecture in class.... and it started playing even though I had it on vibrate and switched back to home. I couldn't silence it fast enough so I just popped the battery out.
I installed that app, but it doesn't have the option of tying them together. I also couldn't find how to save settings in there.
Thanks for any help.
I am running tazz froyo, but this has been a problem for a while. When I receive a text message with sound, like one of those stupid forwards everyone gets it has no sound. I have searched the phone settings and cant find a way to disable or enable the sounds. does anyone else have this problem or know what might be causing it?
My second problem is how do you wake the phone up from sleep while on speaker phone without hanging up on the person. The only way that I have been able to do it is to press the end button which terminates the call.
thanks for the help
For the first one, I have no idea.
For the second one, I'm glad to share this as I found it out yesterday.
Press and hold the volume up button and then press the send button to wake the screen when you're on a call and the screen won't turn on.
hi, ive got a weird quirk im not sure what triggers this but it happens randomly it seems, just wondering if anyones gotten anything similar happening and if anyones found a fix besides rebooting.
So, ive got an amaze (of course) on wind mobile, stock non rooted/etc yet.
the issue is ill go to work listening to mp3's, get to work unplug headphones and audio stops playing as normal when that happens, ill sit down to work and get a txt or a call on the phone and it rings as normal, so thinking ill be nice to co workers i go to turn down the volume of the ringer, but instead of it turning down the ringer volume as normal when no mp3's are playing, it turns down the media volume, and i cant see how to get it back to default mode where it wants to allow me to change the ringer volume with the rocker volume button on the phone with out rebooting or going into the audio settings and changing it there.
its a pretty minor thing i know but its just enough to be annoying.
what happens when you go to the phone/dialpad? just copied what you did and mine switches as normal.
your phone should be switching to the correct volume slider depending on what you have open/running. I've never run across a switch that disables that...
If all else fails put a shortcut to audio settings on your home screen
Ive rebooted now so its fixed, ill try that after my walk home, started thinking maybe winamp isnt shutting down cleanly or something.
the odd thing is it doesn't happen all the time outa the 10 times a week i use headphones and change volume after it it only happens maybe 3-4 times a week..
hrm short cuts an idea if it keeps happening, tho im probably gonna unlock and flash this soon so maybe that wont happen anymore.

Click to collapse
I'm not sure if it's at all related, but I have a different volume quirk. Occasionally, when I plug my phone in to charge it, the ringer volume drops down to minimum. Not to silent or vibrate, just to the lowest setting where it actually still rings. It's probably unrelated, but it could be some glitch in the volume control somewhere.
Hello,
S3 is my first smartphone ever, so please be patient
Since I'm a student, I put my phone on mute during the classes (through the notification bar).
However, it happened to me twice now that accidental touch on volume up hard key took me out of mute. This is of course undesirable... Is there a way to disable this function of volume-up key?
I want to remain muted until I cancel it on notification bar.
Thanks!
bump... can anyone help?
Sad....it remains a big drawback of the android phones that we cant make different profiles for volume like Nokia phones......
I think you can only do this by finding a tone with no sound and setting it for all the alerts manally from sound setting before entering your class room
anyhow this is a good question and hope some devs can desable vol- button for enabling full vol. back
Thanks...
but modifying it manually at the beginning of each class, then again at the end, is not very comfortable.
Perhaps it can be fixed with a mod? something like that:
- clicking volume up if phone is not muted increases the volume, as usual.
- clicking volume up if phone is muted doesn't do anything.
Occasionally when Im playing a game or watching a video and want to turn the volume up, it doesn't go up. Its as if its stuck on 0. (I tried changing the volume with the rockers and through the settings menu but neither one worked.) The only way to get the volume to work again is to reboot the phone. I was wondering if there was an easy way to fix this like an app or something. I'm on MROM CM7.
Thanks in advance!
