The phone was working fine after the update to Froyo. Been working for two days now without issues. Today I wanted to mod my crappy case for the phone so that I could actually press the power button.
Now (out of the case or in), when i power on the device, it gets to the Galaxy S logo screen and just keeps cycling. I tried the three button trick (volume keys with power) but it just keeps cycling.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It's a Bell phone on running a Fido sim.
Update: I tried using Odin and it goes to install the firmware and does a reset of the phone and it continues in the boot loop
I have new galaxy tab 10.1 which I am planning to root, however I cannot get unit to enter download mode. I have tried unsuccessfully at least 20 times using the recommended method of turning the unit completely off then holding the vol-/power buttons. I press the vol- slightly ahead of the power button and hold. All I get is the samsung splash looping over and over with no download or recovery menu icons popping up after the samsung splash. Once I let go, the tab will go into android recovery mode with the option to reboot which takes me to where I started. I have followed all of the tutorials to the tee. Is there another way to get to download mode? Should I take it back if this indicates a more serious problem.
I have also done a factory wipe/reset to no avail. Will vol+ / power do anything?
thanks for your interest I would appreciate any help.

I seem to recall that at least one variant swapped the button around. In any case, it can't hurt to try volume up.
Here's what you do - first, shut the device off by holding power down and waiting for the confirmation.
Then, when it's off, hold the volume down button (to the left side, next to the power button.) Holding that down, press and hold the power button. When you see it light up, release the power button but continue to hold volume down until you see the recovery/download icons.
If doing that doesn't work, try volume up and power. Good luck!
Ill try your suggestions. thank you

I'm having a similar problem. I have a galaxy tab 10.1 wifi that I rooted immediately when I got it. I havn't used it in about 4-5 months. I've already done all the odin and download stuff, but now i want to update my cwm and install a JB rom (I'm currently using aokp). I'm having a funny problem with it now -- Its difficult to turn on and impossible to get into download mode.
In order to turn on my tab, I have to hold down the power, connect the charging cable and get the download screen to turn on, then hold down the power again, wait for the screen to turn off, unplug the power and hold the power button until hopefully it turns on again. And this doesn't always work, sometimes I have to do it a few times. But whenever i've tried do the same thing that gets the tab working normally -- only holding the down volume as well as the power, Nothing happens.
Now once its on and working, things work great, but turning it on is a pain and its impossible for me to bring up the download or recovery option.
I've also tried to 'reboot to bootloader' and that doesn't work, although i can still 'reboot to recovery'
Any tips?

I have almost the exact same problem...
Volume up puts me into download mode and i can connect with Kies but it wont do the JB update
Voulume down ... nothing just boots
if i let it try to do the OTA update it will freeze at the boot screen and stay that way till the battery dies.
To get it to work again i have to do almost exactly what was decribe above..
I have no recovery options at all.
also my Tab is "NOT" rooted

I had a similar problem initially... the screen would just flash the "downloading" message, but the tablet wouldn't mount/connect to my laptop. Here's the solution:
1) launch odin
2) connect usb cable to laptop only
3) power down tablet
4) hold down the power volume down buttons together
5) when you see the downloading message, let go of the power button
6) let go of the volume down button (now just displays "downloading" message, but nothing happens
7) press volume UP
8) you'll get a message about installing custom ROMs and be given the option to do so by pressing volume UP again
9) the tablet mounts and connects to odin
10) from there follow the instructions for flashing recovery via odin (i.e., using PDA button...)
FYI just double check the guides again regarding download and recovery modes. In the thread title you mention Tab 2. This is the forum for the original Tab not the Tab 2. Both devices have different methods and key presses to access the various modes.

Hey guys,
I finally got my Galaxy SIII up and running again last night by removing the power button. (I had the power button defect.)
Unfortunately, the phone restarted itself and now gets "Unfortunately com.android.systemui has stopped" on boot. This is a problem since it loops continuously rendering the phone useless.
Can I enter Recovery Mode? I tried holding Vol Up and Home while plugging in the phone but it just vibrates over and over again.
Can I retrieve data off the phone through Bootloader/download? I have a few SMS I would like to keep / photos sitting on the phone.
I was running LiquidSmooth 3.0
Thanks!

I would install a custom recovery through odin3.09 and than to try enter recovery and make a backup to sdcard
So I think I somehow managed to brick my DNA. It won't turn on, it won't boot to the boot loader, and I've tried holding down the power button, each volume buttons, both volume buttons, etc. When I connect it to a PC, sometimes it will show the charging icon, other times it won't show anything. It also isn't actually recognized by the PC when I plug it in. I cleared the cache after an update, and this happened about a week afterwards. I've never rooted, flashed a ROM, etc. Can anyone help me get this thing going again? Thanks in advance.
Hello,
Phone in question: Galaxy Ace 3 - GT-S7275R
A short summary of my issue and how it happend: Yesterday evening my phone was suddenly turned off before i went to bed and i turned it back on and it said it was doing an android software update, but my phone normally never gets an update. And when it was turned on it received pop up message with the message: ..... app has stopped. (facebook, Google Play, YouTube, ...) And i left it untill the morning and i rebooted it then but it was again the same so i tried another reboot and then it wouldn't start up.
So now my phone wont start while pressing the power button, i have tried to go in recovery (Volume Up/Down + Home + Power button) but that didn't do anything and if i connect my phone to my pc i hear noises where my device connects then deconnects to the pc.
Does anyone have any solutions for this?
Greetings
