Hello everyone, just got my M4 today and im really happy with it but after a a software update i cant seem to change usb connection type from mtp to mass storage, theres just no options there... when i go into xperia connectivity/USB connectivity there is only a checked option to install software from a computer but i get no prompts to download any, being new to the device can anyone point me in the right direction please? Also quick one, is it possible to change the way the battery icon looks?

I have the same problem, some more guys have the same problem too.
Haven't been able to find a fix.
Another problem i found is after i connect the phone to my pc, the sd card doesn't work anymore and the only way to fix it is to reboot the phone.
Guys did you solve your problems. I have the same problem. Tried with new driver for win , but did not solve it.
If I back my phone to factory settings will I get a software as I bought it (without update)

Did you manage to solve this? I don't have "USB connetion mode" too.

Hello, this software the device is try to install the "Sony PC Companion," you can download it easily, just a quick searched on google. But I do not think it very important, it's good to make updates to the device.
USB connectivity is really only in mtp, it is not possible to change. We are expecting an update from sony. I saw somewhere that the Xperia M4 Aqua would get an update but do not know when. I hope this update fix it.
Currently there is a way to unlock the bootloader, TWRP, and root the M4 Aqua, after that you can make many changes on the device, including how to the the battery icon appears.
I have no problems with the microSD after connecting the device to the PC.
If you are like our friend said, I think the sony left the function, and not bring it back, at least in our device.

I have same issue. Hope anyone can tell how to fix it. Latest software update didn't fixed it.
UPDATE:
I have tested another SD card. No problems with it. SD 2GB works fine with PC connectivity. SDHC 8GB is not available when connecting to PC.
Hey, Somehow I've got it fixed. Connected M4 to PC and made software repair via PC companion. Strange things happened. Not only SD card is working as it suppose to, but fixed some other bugs and even some new features appeared on phone. Though phone had latest firmware before repair.
The current situation means that the M4 Aqua cannot synch with Thunderbird without using a Google Calendar which I do NOT want to do.
Can Sony either ad an option to the phone to enable it to be connected over USB in charge only mode or add an option to Sony PC Companion to synch with Thunderbird.
How will de PC connect to my M4 if there is no USB connection, if you are using PC Companion?

and UBS connection.
Now my new notebook in my office has WIN 98 SE and it works only with seriell connection!?
If im testing USB connection it wants any usb driver for XDA1!?
Any ideas or a simple solution?

I think, only thing you have to do is install the Activesync program from Microsoft.
Then it should work...

I cant see any thread about remote desktop soft for wm06 SP.
I tried Compact remote control v2 but it ask for Net CF 2.0 but when I try to install this NET CF it says newer version of NET CF is already installed

I found this instructions that make it works:
Copy the two files (cerdisp2.exe and KillProc.exe) from C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys\ActiveSync_Remote_Display\devices\wce400\armv4t to your wizard's \Windows folder
Connect to your device using ActiveSync Remote Display and you will see the message The OS or CPU of this device is unknown to this application, just click OK.

Guys, my english isnt good but U really dont understand I dont want to control my mobile trough my PC, but I want to use my Hurricane as a remote control (for example I can turn off my PC with mobile, or control the volume in winamp with mobile)

I think perhaps he means with the HTC Sync application? I run the Darkstone Froyo v1 and I think it mentioned something about USB mass storage mode of some kind (not tried it), is there an Android "activesync" type mode?

However you do need to enable the USB mass storage option in Android

hmmm cant seem to find it in darkstone's newest build..
After you connect your USB cable pull down the notification tray and you will find it in there.
Why not try before asking? If you insert a USB-cable in the Leo and the comp the statusbar will tell you clearly what's happening. USB-mass storage works if you enable it (via statusbar), USB-debugging is on by default in some "ROMs" and HTC-sync is not working at the moment.

I plugged mine in to charge and noticed by accident - and quite to my surprise - the comp recognized my phone as an Android phone. I did need to disable Debugging mode for it to actually work though.
This was on Darkstone's last build.
i m also facing similar issue, can't sync my hd2 android Froyo with pc. any one please help.
android manager works great!
I am using this tool happily -- Android Manager.
It works great with my HTC [email protected] through WiFi to sync with outlook,media files and music playlist.
My friend use HD2 seems work great,tool.
Maybe they have a USB version?
It is a free tool.

HTC sync works like a charm
I've been able to connect to HTC sync on almost any build I've used and works perfect. I'm using windows 7 64bits. I'm using HTC sync 3.0.5. All Mdeejay builts work. It will detect your phone as a Desire handset.

I can't get connect to htc sync 3 :S....I use all builds of mjeed, my phone can't detect htc sync

After evaluating dozens of solutions i came across this one:

Install it on the PC and it automatically installs the necessary Software onto the android phone when usb is connected.
It syncs Outlook calendar and contacts. Although they say its Pre Alpha it works reliable so far.
It also works in the background and you can set it to autosync whenever you connect the android.
The last while my HD2 wont connect with my desktop. I connect with the USB and the phone just charges i cant physically move files unless i change to Disk drive. I thought this might have been a problem with the ROM i installed (Dutty's Creme De la Creme) But the phone connects to my laptop as it normally would and any other computer.
I recently did a fresh install of my pc OS and i still seem to have the same problem i still cant locate the phone. (unless i choose disk drive)
Iv tried everything that i can think of to fix it but nothing. Can anyone shed any light

go to settings, connections, USB to PC and untick the box for faster data sync.
"pair" ur phone with ur PC and after that tick the box again....

phone wont contect to mobile device center
i flashed NRG Cookie Rom Aug 6 and now i can no longer connect. it shows in my device manager as USB unrecognized. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling windows mobile device center still nothing! First this has happened to me UGH! is there a stand alone HD2 driver? sorry i forgot to mention that i'm TOMUS
When trying to mount through any recovery, whether it be TWRP, CWM or Viper's TWRP, i get that message. Since there is no SD card, i can't take anything out, it's all internal. I can't seem to push anything, ADB sideload doesn't seem to work either. Can anyone help? It's a completely wiped phone at the moment, I can't access the SD card either way.

Having the same problem.
ADB can be a bit tricky, depends on your system . Have a look at the proper driver or use the toolkit to push

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried a sideload via the tool and no luck. The phone is just waiting to receive file and never sees the PC.
Might be an issue with the HTC drivers (as I also used my laptop to config an HTC HD2 to run Android). So perhaps the tool is looking at the wrong HTC drivers (?). Might also be a permissions issue, but I did go in and manually gave rights to "file" in both lun0 and lun1 and still no luck.
I was eventually able to transfer the file using by using Android Wi-Fi Sync manager (since I was lucky enough to have my old ROM file in my sdcard and managed to install and boot up). But for those who have wiped their sdcard as a first step to installing a new ROM this is obviously not an option.
I will try to update the HTC drivers on my PC and let you all know if it worked.

OK, it was a driver issue. I could have sworn I loaded the drivers for the HOX+ back after messing with the HD2, but apparently I was wrong.
So re-loaded HOX+ drivers and now WIN8 recognizes the internal storage as son as I plug in the USB cable.
