[Q][REQUEST][x010q][Recovery port]Need developer help to port. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need someone to help me port a custom recovery to my device: Blu Life One 2015. All I really need is a stock ROM. I am on a Google+ page and tons of people bricked their devices because they installed a stagefright update OTA while rooted. I know it seems obvious and they shouldve unrooted first, but these people paid good money for their phones and the manufacturers aren't helping at all., let alone just releasing the stock rom So, is there anyone out there who could help me. I'd be happy to send you any data you need just keep in mind, I can't use any recovery or ROM to do this.

beep.... need it too

Hey - followed the old thread after I pulled my bricked life one out of a drawer.
Yeah I rooted mine, Yeah it went into a boot loop after the OTA attempt.
Yeah, I spent hours on the phone with Blu...
So here is what is different for me
1) after loading a pc with the qualcom drivers, and qfil program, and the V17 rom - the device does not communicate over usb. (so these tools are useless to me)
2) it no longer boot loops, and ends up after a couple of minutes in ktu84p recovery. The recovery does have an update from sd card option.
Anyone have an update for this method?
If not suggest how to make one from the V17 image?
or
Advise how to get USB working?
Thanks!

[Q] Wondering If I Should Root My SGS3

Hi,
Ive had my Galaxy S3 for about 4 months now, and being in Australia waiting for the Jelly Bean update is driving me crazy, So i wanted to know how hard it would be to root my S3, I would have done it as soon as i got the phone however, My first galaxy stopped working after putting a new rom on the phone and my galaxy s2's screen turned blue and then died, although this could have been because i dropped it the day before, not sure both of these have kind of put me off rooting, however ive had a xoom and optimus 3d that are still fine on custom roms.
Also, If i wanted to return to stock, and unroot the phone, would that restore my warranty?
I have the International Galaxy S3, I think With Optus in Australia,
I would have searched how to root by myself, but i really dont want to brick the phone.
So if someone could link me to a stable rom and some instructions on how to root it would be fantastic
Thanks for reading
4 months..... I couldn't even wait for a day after received my S3
Even with custom ICS ROM you ll see huge difference
Hehhe I don't really care about warranty anymore after I chose to root
As long I enjoy the phone... But there's a way to do that...
I can't help you to find the link for rooting and apply CWM since I haven't been to any threads
If I were you, go search root by CF....
Good luck

Hi, Thanks for the reply,
I am going to follow this guide, Its from another website so my apologies if i am not allowed to post links to external sites, Although i found the link on an XDA thread so i figured it would be okay
http://www.androidrootz.com/2012/09/how-to-root-any-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
And im just looking at ROM's now, Just out of curiosity which ROM are you using androbot?
Thanks
I would always root my phone Just because you can use AD Block
Haha yeah i will look forward to that , Just Root'd phone then Tested with Titanium backup and works fine Just wondering if any of you could recommend a good ROM, or the ROM your currently using that your really happy with? Thanks
I'm using crDroid 6.3 at the moment...
I like ROM doesn't get stripped but still performs fast and fluid too...
Each user has their own taste....
The ROM is around 9xx mb...
It's got AROMA installer too....
After you root and install CWM, crDroid ROM requires touch recovery to avoid any problem...so you need to flash touch recovery recommended ...

I gave stock a try for a while.... Lasted 3 days. Samsung managed to create something that can't run on a quad core phone.... That's almost something to be proud of, I shouldn't experience lag and homescreen redraws on a $500+ phone. Installing a custom rom is a must for me, I don't understand why OEM version of Android are so horrible but they are. Rooting only will give you a few benefits and extra things you can tweak as well as ad blocking and making the GPS faster. But if you really want a change, custom roms are the way to go.
Hey guys new to android based phones, ive had the s3 for a few months and have read the forum for a while, i want to flash a custom rom and read about imei backup which i just did but i want to know is it common for the imei to delete when flashing?
I lasted about 3 weeks on stock.. now dual booting CM10 & UltraROM. You won't regret it :good:
Should I root??
Sorry for posting here but it's the closest I have found to what my question is. I have an AT&T S3. I would like to root to get rid of my bloatware but I'm a chicken. I rooted my HTC Inspire over a year ago and I didn't really know how to remove to AT&T apps and the stock rom was not as snappy as it was prior to rooting. I planned on staying on ICS until an official JB OTA was available, as I've never flashed custom roms before. What I'm most concerned about I guess is whether rooting will mess up my 4gLTE and wifi. I rely heavily on wifi since sadly, AT&T is lame, expensive, and doesn't offer unlimited data. So I want to make sure I don't screw up wifi if I do this. Can anyone provide insight or point me to a good resource that can help?? Thanks a bunch in advance and sorry for the noob questions.

Using Odin to flash CF-Root is super-easy, so don't be afraid. Rooting will not affect your phone's smoothness, but if you use it to remove apps with Titanium Backup without making sure they are not useless, you may end up having performance issues or worse. Of course, I'm not saying you shouldn't root, just that after rooting, take care with what you remove via TB.
CF-Root can be found in the Original Android Development forum, follow the instructions and you'll be ok.
All three mobile networks are releasing them this month, November! Telstra, Voda then Optus.
Hopefully it's XXDLJ4 or above or XXDLJ6 etc
Swyped on GT-I9300 - XXDLJ1 - Siyah kernel 1.7b1 - Thunderbolt tweaks - JKay theme -

No. There are no ROMs for this device. No one has built a custom ROM for it because it is not a popular brand. Now you can install a custom CWM recovery. Use MTK Droid Tools to do create one, then flash it with SPF Tool. Once, you've got CWM on there, you can root it by installing a SuperSu zip from the SD card while in recovery.
But unfortunately, there are no custom ROMs available that you can install.
I dont know if you still have the device, but I am currently working on a nougat resurrection remix rom for this device. So far I managed to get twrp 3.2.1 running on this phone with storage and adb working, ill update you when im finished making the rom boot.

Why not post the TWRP image for the device if you have created one? People who have the device would find it helpful.

[HELP] Moto G3 (2015) stuck in bootloop + other problems!

Hi guys, this is a hell of a story I have to tell and it's complicated as ****. So please if you think you can help me, take the time to read it I'll also add some screenshots.
So Monday I decided to root my Moto G3 and install the custom Android 7.0 Nougat rom (because it won't get it officialy). I did everything using a tutorial from the AndroidDoctor on YouTube.
So everything went well so far and I got my Android 7.0 custom rom. Tuesday I decided to get rid of the rom because I didn't really like it and I wanted my original software back and wanted to unroot.
So I did something insanely stupid, I deleted the files (Supersu, the rom and the GApss) from my phone using the device manager for my phone on my pc thinking this would get rid of the root and the rom on my phone.
So I decided to reboot my phone to get my old software back and I got in a bootloop. I had a lot of research but nothing can really fix my problem.
So I used the tutorial to fix it also by the AndroidDoctor.
So you guys are my only hope, what else can I do? The only screen that is working on my phone is the boot menu.
Any help is appreciated thanks !

SGH-I337 Dev ROM/Firmware

Anyone found or have a dev rom for the Gs4 SGH-I337? My cousin played with his phone a while ago and it had a recovery problem so i used ODIN to flash the stock-recovery.img. Recovery successfully installed but now the ROM isn't working. I tried to add back the firmware it had (I believe 4.4.2 or 4.2.2) but now it's on a boot loop on the Samsung Custom screen. After boot it'll vibrate multiple times and then it'll stop vibrating but phone would get warm. I was thinking if somebody can help me find a Dev ROM I'll might be able to redownload the original firmware. That's what I did to my Verizon Gs5 (currently running LineageOS). Thanks if anybody can help

You have an AT&T variant, which means there is no developer edition for your device, and you can't use another devices.
The S5 has a special vulnerability that allows one to convert to developer edition, but it doesn't apply to the S4.

No name android phones and CM

Hey guys,
Got on hands noname Chinese android phone with lollipop on board (even though it says 6.0.1 in settings) and MTK6580 quad processor, 3.10.72 kernel
can I somehow put cyanogen rom from another phone?
Yes, find another phone using that chip: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_devices_using_Mediatek_SoCs
Then go here: http://www.needrom.com and find THAT phone(s) and see if there is a custom rom for THAT phone also using the same kernal 3.10/3.12 etc
Download that rom and port it yourself using the boot.img from YOUR phone using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938
And get it at least booting on your phone, out of loads I've done on MTK phones, 95% boot up first time, 50% of those have no issues, the other 50% have issues with cameras/wifi/video/phone that can be fixed literally with trial and error of swapping files from your stock rom to the new rom, can take hours/days of trial and error or could take minutes.
Have fun
EDIT: try to use a custom rom from a brand you have at least kinda heard of, doogee, walton, infinix...etc to make it more likely to work well.

Thank you for your response!
After few hours of research I have found many ROMs that are applicable for my phone. The thing is, I want it to be and look as close to stock android as possible, and as close to most recent version as well.
But still I have few questions:
1)Am I right by saying that kernel 3.10.72 is suitable only for android 5.x?
2)Is it possible to put android 6.x or 7.x?
3)If it is do I need to ugrade kernel?
4)Is it possible to upgrade kernel?
I really hope it's not too much to ask from you.

Your phone is basically the same as mine, and sadly the kernal has to be the same for every custom ROM, there are no kernel sources so no custom kernels, which means we are both stuck with lollipop
The infinix hot 2 for example, is the same MTK chip and was released with lollipop and kernel 3.10 but then infinix released a stock marshmallow upgrade, with a stock 3.12 kernel so they could get a custom 6.0 rom which im 99% sure we will never get.
If you go here: http://www.needrom.com/author/robneymcplum/ this is me on there, where I have ported the best 5.1.1 roms with our kernel. You will need to port to your phone, which is literally just swapping about 10 files from your stock rom so make a backup of your stock rom or find stock firmware, and get the files from there and use the guide i already posted.
Hope this helps. And if you have never done it, its way, WAY easier than you think it might be
