I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 that needed a charging port, I replaced the, part myself this past weekend and now all of the sudden it only registers to anything that is a Samsung part when it comes to charging or sync....Nothing else, tried other cables and no luck.... Then I wanted to transfer something out of my flash drive via OTG and once again NO LUCK whatsoever. So what could be the problem with this? Do I now have to get genuine oem accessories in order to utilize this phone or is there something missing that I didn't get to do software wise.

Well my X10 usb port is broken and won't charge, so I decided I might as well get a new phone (I looked up trying to fix it and etc but came up with nothing). I bought the phone unlocked and had it imported back when it first came out so no warranty for me. Well anyway the point of this is I decided I don't want to spend so much money right now so I'm gonna stick with phones provided by my service provider which is T-Mobile US, so at the moment I have the choice between the Samsung Vibrant & the myTouch 4G and I just wanted to hear some opinions on that (I don't really like physical keyboards so the G2 is out) I'm still going to do my own research but its always nice to hear other peoples thoughts.
you could just buy a portable charger for the battery...
RS Online has micro USB-ports, and if you fear that won't look any good it's a good opportunity to hack it into wireless charging:

Um a portable charger wouldn't be able to help me if I need to connect the phone to the computer to do things like flashing and etc
Have you tried another charger? Had the same problem and a new charger worked, phoned my provider they sent me a replacement and I just swapped the charger.

Yeah tried multiply different ones. At this point I know its a fact its the usb port because its jiggling.
So what's your plan with the broken device? RMA, selling as defective, or leaving in a drawer?
If the latter then try fixing it first - it's not the first phone with a loose micro-usb port.

Can anyone confirm if the USB host feature works with the Galaxy S3.
Specifically, I'm interested in attaching a USB Keyboard to the device.
After upgrading from honeycomb to ICS on my wife's Galaxy S2 I found that the USB Host function no longer works and I can no longer connect a USB keyboard. (It used to work rather well).
After checking the XDA forums I see that I must root the phone and use another kernel which I'd rather not do given that the S2 is not my phone.
I'll be picking up the Galaxy S3 once the Blue-32gb arrives here in Taiwan so I'm also wondering if anyone can say whether or not the USB Host function works and if anyone has tried out a USB keyboard.
Any advice would be swell
Thanks
Works for me unrooted mate. Had a flash drive connected with no problems

Thanks for the reply.
After upgrading to ICS on my wife's S2 the phone continues to read USB Flash drives just fine, but it could not (cannot) read any other devices including USB Keyboards or a USB Mouse.
I want to be able to use my fold-able ASUS USB Keyboard to type documents on the G3 and from what I've seen, the screen is plenty big to be able to make my dream of 'ultra-portable' document typing a reality.
This, plus the fact that I haven't found any fold-able Blue Tooth keyboard that seems to work very well with the S2.

I made my own usb host cable and everything I have tried is working. Wireless keyboard and mouse, memory stick, external harddrive, ps3 controller etc.
Hello,
I want to buy a new micro usb port to solder instead of the old one because I have charging problems, however I know the galaxy s3 has a different mhl adapter, but where exactly are the pins different? Because I don't know if a normal micro usb port will work on the he s3.
Thanks
Use the internet to find 'Samsung Galaxy S3 USB cable' should get some results for your phone but the USB shouldn't matter asking as its micro.

Thanks, so where exactly did Samsung change the USB? I remember that the galaxy s3 has 11 pins instead of 5 somewhere, so where exactly is this change if not on the micro usb port itself?
Thanks again
you won't fit anything but the official port in there

He is talking about the port not the cable. The part inside the phone.
OP, as suggested you will need to do a search and find an official Samsung USB port to put in your phone. Search on google and you can find tutorials on how to change and links to where to buy the replacement.
Can someone who has been able to connect their Sprint Mega please share how in the hell you accomplished this? While I can sit here and connect my Note 3 all day long, I cannot get the Mega to connect. There is no USB icon in the status bar. Win 7 makes the connected sound but there is zero connection. I just want to root this stupid thing,
Hi..I am going to take a wild guess here..the usb cable you are using did it come with your note 3 or your mega as if not try the one that came with the mega..and make sure it is pushed in quickly and a little firm as sometimes the mega will not connect..not sure why it does this..but happens to me once and a while and I am using the usb cable that came with my mega..but mine is the i527m.

So I had a rooted galaxy s3 connected it to the head unit with an mhl adapter and worked no problem. Now I have upgraded to an S5 and I can connect it through BT, but when I connect it with HDMI and the mhl adapter it connects then disconnects a second later. This keeps happening over and over in a loop. I am trying to use the Pandora app and run it through the head unit. I also bought the newer white adapter and it does the same thing. I tested both mhl adapters and my S5 to my TV and that works perfectly. Anyone have any experience with this?
Did I post this in the correct section?
Anyone? No one can help me out? I've been searching forever!
bump, still need help...
From what I e heard you don't need adapter as S5 does music through USB now. Haven't tried but others have

So just try to connect it to the head unit directly through USB? I'm going to try that tomorrow and report back. Thanks!
