Hello everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my nexus 6 case to this Unicorn Beetle one, however I am also looking to upgrade my car mount from a gripgo (grip and promptly let go) as I am sure this new case will need something a bit sturdier! I see the popular one, the iottie line, claims that it only fits phones as wide as 3.5 inches, this came claims to be 4.
Can any of you all, who own this Unicorn Beetle case, give a nice recommendation for a car mount that you have tried with this case on? (Amazon purchases preferred)

MMM is this the one you are talking about?
http://www.proclipusa.com/mobile-device-holders/universal-holders/product/medium-universal-adjustable-proclip-holder-t1-246804.cmsv
It says it can adjust to about 3 inches and the Unicorn Beetle case goes out to 4 inches, do I maybe have the wrong one here?

Thats exactly how it looks, but mine opens wider than 3 inches. Maybe I have the T2 or T3. I will check in my truck tomorrow morning and see if the decal on the side has an identifying model #
I have this one:

I don't know about the unicorn beetle but it fits mine with a trident aegis case which is the thickest case I've used on the phone.

The ProClip I used that fits great with a case is the "Large Universal Adjustable Holder for devices with a Case," Item #246850.

Hey all,
Before the ZU, I always used bumpers. All of my phones prior to the Note 3 I used the Acase Superleggera PRO which was a dual layer (flexible silicone underneath a hard TPU shell) case that was awesome. They didn't make it for the Note 3 so I used a similar shell. Nonetheless, I never used a flip case until the ZU.
Only because of the size of the device did I purchase a flip case. I thought that with a device this big it would be harder to protect the screen.
My question to you all is: What type of case do you use with the Z Ultra??? Bumper, flip case, something else?

I use the incipio Ultra Shine case. It is not so bulky. I like the double layer protection it has. Found a used one on eBay for $11 shipped. They retail for $39.99

I wish it had a cutout for the magnetic charging port. Does it look like it would be fairly easy to mod with a dremel? I saw a post of someone doing that with the Incipio feather case, but does it look possible with the one you have?

when i bought my phone i got a free case as a gift (the one on the left) but i've never used it, a couple of days later my friend asked me to buy him a case for his Xperia Z off ebay, the seller sent the wrong case (case for Z Ultra not for the Z, the gold one)
so now i have two free cases but never used any of them, because the Z Ultra is too sexy & slim to be in a case

I just know from previous experience that I will drop the ZU eventually. And the way things go in my life, the time I drop it without a case will be the time that it shatters into a million pieces.

Hello everyone, I was wondering what cases are the most protective ones for the G3.
Puregear dualtek
Looks like it can handle a drop, you know of any others?
I found about 3 more heavy duty cases: a supcase unicorn beetle pro, otterbox defender and another one which I forgot the name :/ I have no idea which one to choose and what are the pros and cons of one another.
That puregear dualtek looks awesome. Do you know if it fits well with a glass screen protector?

You have on you tube some drop test with cases on it.
I have a Note 3 with an Otterbox Defender case. Love it. My previous phone had a Ballistic case. I really liked it, but I like the all rubber back of the Otterbox Defenders, gives much better grip and better protection in my opinion.
Is there anything similar for the Nexus 6 right now? I ordered a Foscom Rugged one off Amazon, the outside is a hard plastic and the inner softer shell feels really rigid.
Might want to look at the seidio dilex if otter box doesn't have one yet. I can't think of any other otter box type cases really as I prefer slimmer gear.
I ordered this case from Amazon and really like it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OHFGMGU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The best case for nexus 6 is the ballistic tough max. It's more like an otter box then any case available. Also my otter box that I had for my droid maxx before switching to nexus 6 wasn't rubber on the back? The plastic part clips over the rubber just like ballistic. So I'm confused. But anyways ballistic is way to go on nexus 6.

Otterbox has several series. Commuter is rubber touching the phone, then a hard plastic shell on the back. The Defender series has the hard plastic touching the phone, then encased in a rubbery shell.
Depends on which kind of Otterbox you mean, really.
I overviewed some two-piece cases (i.e., inner sleeve + outer frame) which have similar characteristics to the bigger Otterbox styles, for example.
The Supcase and Ballistic Max cases mentioned above are also within the same ballpark.

The Trident Aegis and Seidio Dilex resemble the Commuter. I have the Dilex. It does add some thickness and weight but its solid.

I have this one too. Really nice. Supcase makes great cases. I also have their regular Unicorn Beetle case with the clear plastic back, and that one is even better than the Pro series cases.
I just ordered this one

I always gauge the thickness by the cutout around the camera. Holy cow that thing's a vault!

I really don't like the smooth plastic backs of those types of cases. I do have a Supcase for my IPad. I agree it offers the same or better protection as an otterbox at a fraction of the price. I got the Foscom and it's pretty nice. I also ordered a Ballistic Tough Maxx. I know it's also smooth on the back, but I had one for a different phone and the dimples in it help give it some grip.

I have this case too. I like it for the most part, but I'm thinking of getting either the Supcase or Ballistic. The recesses in the back add some grip, but i feel the TPU material is harder than it needs to be and will transfer more energy from an impact, and the N6 is a heavy phone...
I think the trident aegis is as close to otterbox as you can get, it's a good case. An unseen benefit of the aegis is it sits flat so if you use the phone while its on a table it won't rock like a curved back does.
Otterbox
Has anyone else tried contacting Otterbox to see if they plan to develop a case for the Nexus 6? They seem to develop cases based on interest, or at least that's what I was told when I called them to ask. So I would advise anyone else interested in an Otterbox to contact them and ask when they plan to release one.
Got a Ballistic Tough Maxx today. Realy like the feel. I think it's the best case. Just wish it had a kickstand.

Don't think they 're going to start making a case because a few people from XDA want it. I'm sure they're looking at sales figures from Google and Motorola to see how many people own one.

Hey guys ive looked through a bunch of forums and can find exactly what im looking for. Im thinking of buying a tylt vu car charger (to replace my airdock v1) and the arms open to 3.6" wide so im trying to find a case that is very protective but thin enough to fit into the arms of the dock. Brownie points if you have tested with the tylt vu original (non-car) dock. So far im thinking about the trident aegis and the speigan thin armor.

As far as finding a case that fits, the phone is 3.27in wide. Any case that adds more than a 1/3rd (.33) of an inch is going to be too wide. Super easy maths. It's up to you to pick a case you like and find out if it will fit.

I have been on almost all of those threads. I just want a recommendation for this particular application. The width of a lot of these cases is a mystery to me. Besides its not actually a lot of bulk, its 1/6" to the right and left. Thats not a terrible amount of bulk. I really liked the way the i-blason case on amazon looks but it makes the phone 3.75" wide. And the UAG case is so ugly with the nexus logo on the back otherwise i wouldve bought it already
I can even stuff the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro in the Tylt car charger, but it's a tight fit. So as long as you get something smaller than that, you'll be fine.

OtterBox defender arrived today. I thought it had a screen protector like the Unicorn Beetle, so returning it. The problem with the Unicorn Beetle on my previous phone was that the cover latch broke over time. This happened to other people I know as well. Also, reviews show that there are issues with using the fingerprint reader with the Pixel 6. Too bad, as otherwise I like the case, even though I had to use a Dremel tool to grind off the holster since I keep the phone in my pocket and it added extra bulk.
Debated on a Unicorn Beetle Pro case, had a great experience in the past with one. But wasn't too sure on the screen protector as the past one didn't have that included. Ended up getting the Caseology Parallax. Shows up today. Was half the price. Idk....second guessing now. LOL
