..for 16GB variant of the Xperia M4 Aqua? I'm enticed by the price, specs and looks of this phone and I am aware of the 8GB storage problem. So how big is the 16GB for the M4Aqua? Thxx

All I know is the support for 64GB is added. I highly doubt about 128GB. But let us know, what you found!
First of all Xperia Tablet Z support MICRO SD cards not regular SD cards.
Second: 128GB MICRO SD cards are not availible in market yet.
Third: XTZ supports up to 64GB MICRO SD cards.
Has any one actually tried a 128Gb SDXC card on Sony Xperia Tablet Z? Sometimes devices turn out to work with things they shouldn't support...

It should recognize it without issues (119Gb available).
Hello,
As the title asks. Does anyone know if a 128 gb micro SD card will work in the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact? I ask because I know that usually, the limit these machines can handle is 64gb. And if so, does anyone use a 128GB card, and which one would you suggest? Many thanks for your time in reading this post and answering.

According to Sony spec. it supports up to 128 GB SDXC. Unfortunately I did not double check on my device.
Yes 128 works good on this baby
do you know if it supports uha-1 speeds?
Yes, i have 128gb class 10 and it works a charm.
I think your question is UHS1 OR 3 etc...
Mine is class 10 UHS1 and it is ok.
Any class 10 should be good enough, and if it has UHS rating, it is faster than those without UHS classification.
FYI, mine is Sandisk ultra.
Guys don't ever get sandisk ultra 64gb. I had 3 of their cards which was purchased at the same time and unfortunately it failed. The issue is rampant on their 64gb ultra (google Sandisk ultra cannot delete files). My micro sd suddenly became a read only device. Files are intact but i cant modify contents which means i cannot do format erase and anything. Practically it became a useless card. Already did windows low level format, tried to check drive permissions and it was not set in read only, no virus. The writting controller chip just broke down. for those who are planning to buy a card and have their cameras and their 4K vids automatically save in the sd card, then don't buy sandisk (at least The 64gb ultra). It seems their cards can't take much writing before it breaks

It's a shame you can't move any apps to the SD card, I have the LTE version and 16GB isn't enough space when you have a few games installed.
Hello
I am using Nexus 7 2013 for a year now and I was thinking of replacing it. The other tablet I am looking for is Samsung Galaxy S 8.4 WiFi.
I mostly use my tablet for reading my coursebooks in pdf via moon+ Reader , Browsing, Movies and little gaming.
How is the development on this tablet going so far ?
Overall, would you recommend it ?
Secondly what is the available memory of 16Gb to the user ? 11.6GB or Something ?
Cheers

Around 12GB of free memory when you get it. I would recommend at least 32GB SD Card for it and the Lollipop version has a built it app2sd or just use link2sd like I do.
The tablet is very very very thin, compact and light. It will do everything you can throw at it the snapdragon 801 is no slouch. I've been very surprised on how well the shatter proof glass Sony makes too. So durable and scratch resistant!
Development is lacking due to the lack of popularity because Sony makes the devices expensive and hard to get. I bought my Xperia Z3 Tab Compact for $600 off eBay just after Christmas.
I'd say choose the Sony over the Galaxy because I honestly don't like Samsung. That's my personal opinion though.

Cheers mate for summing it up for me !
I also do not like Samsung for many reasons as well, like regionally locked, less development friendly and especially its UI (Touch wiz) which just lags on lower- middle end devices.
I'm divided between getting a new Nexus (the one that'd be released or just get this device )
It's one sale in the UK till may so I think I still have time to grab it for 400$(£269) on John Lewis.
Usually in May- June we see a new nexus tablet but there haven't been any leaks so doesn't seem like one in the making as of yet!
Sony makes it durable and is quite something but I simply hate their SLOW updates and little support in regard to upgrade their devices. Their software department has been really poor!
Another question on my mind is, is the 12 GB memory divided by any means . like internal and Sdcard0 with an option to expand via sdcard which would be sdcard1?

Looks like this in the picture. I'd say 400$ is a good deal. Is it the WiFi or lte model?
Sorry picture didn't work. You have sdcard, sdcard1 and USBdisc.

Yes , it is a WiFi version only with 16gb. 32 is 460$ and LTE version a bit more expensive.
So basically Sony has divided the 16 GB into three parts. This is what im guessing ! One for system (OS /ROM) which is around 1-1.5 GB. This is not shown in settings or via an app. You can find out if you are a developer.
Then there's internal memory on which applications are installed . This is usually 2 GB and lastly there's sdcard which is 12gb as you said before.
The memory can be expanded via sdcard1 (micro SD card) or using a USB via OTG support.
So basically there should be two internal memories. One would be called sdcard0(also internal memory in settings) and other internal memory.
Many thanks once again and I'm attaching my pictures to clarify the points I made.
The device I'm currently using has 1.57 internal and 4gb sdcard0 (called internal again in settings but sdcard0 in file explorer) and 32 GB microsd card (called external /sdcard1 )
So can you please tell me the size for internal memory as well. Not sdcard0 which you have already at 16 GB.

Here's the screenshots i was trying to post. Internal is mounted to sdcard0, sdcard is mounted to sdcard1 and usbotg is mounted to usbdisk. I have a hidden 8GB EXT4 partition and swap partition on my sdcard because I prefer it that way. If your not going to root just set up your camera to save to sdcard, and move all your large data to sdcard. Its what I did with Lollipop before it had root.
Hello!
First of all, I'm German but i trust in you guys since i first flashed my Xperia X10 mini pro back in ... 2010? Soooooo... don't blame me for bad english please
My last Smartphone broke because a emmc error so I want to buy the Xperia M4 Aqua 8gb (because 16gb is not avaible here in germany..).
With Android M comes the ability to format SD cards so you can fully install apps on it and so on, so this 1,27gb space left doesnt bug me (yay..)
Sony says that the phone can read sd cards up to 128gb BUT a friend said that his old phone could do this too, but with 64gb and up the sd card is sdXC and this isnt compatible to all smartphones that states that it's okay with 128gb.
SOOO long speech, short sense (german sayings ftw ^^),
my question is if the m4 can handle sdxc or if it reacts like **** to it with bugs and crashes, because I want to use at least 64gb
Otherwise I will just use 32gb.
Much regards,
David
sdxc is the question of file system type.
M4 Aqua handles sdxc well.
besides of course occasional "sd card unexpectedly removed" error. With the firmware 26.a.2.99 I received that error once per week (or per 2 weeks). This error does not depend of the card as I had it with 32 GB card also.
However, you should order your phone from France as 16GB is available there (AFAIK).
I want buy SDXC 64GB , i read on sony official website, phone can handle max. 200GB memory cards. When it depends on filesystem, my old Ace 3 from Samsung supported exFAT too...
I see conflicting information. According to Sony the max SD card is 512Gb however almost every site that shows specs for the Xperia 1 lists 1Tb as the max size. For example GSM Arena, which is generally pretty good for that sort of info.
I know for example that my Z Ultra will take 128Gb even though the max size stated by Sony is 64Gb. I just got a 200Gb card for my Z5 Premium and I kind of wish I had tried something bigger, although 200Gb is a lot. I have had the Xperia 1 for a couple months now, and while I do appreciate the 128Gb storage built in, I am getting to the point where I really need some more.
1Tb cards are considerably more pricey than 512Gb cards so it's not something I want to just try and see what happens. That being said I'm not really sure if a 1Tb card fits my budget right now anyway.
Sony website shows 512GB as the max SDcard size.
However in my experience, SD cards larger than the max size stated by the manufacturer have worked just fine. Haven't tried personally on my X1 though.

I'd love to have another TB on the phone but I may end up sticking with 512GB for now just because of cost.
I'm also curious if there is a benefit of getting the A2 speed card over the A1 speed. I've used only A1 speed cards thus far in my phones and cameras, however I imagine that the Xperia 1 may actually be able to make use of the higher speed card.
Any thoughts on that?

I have an A1 card in my X1 right now, and I'm satisfied with the speed, and to be quite honest, I can't see any point in spending extra to get an A2 card since I don't do frequent transfers of data between Internal Storage and SD, nor do I do a lot of 4K video recording to external storage, where I can imagine that faster external storage would be beneficial.
I can assure you that a 1TB micro SD card works on my Xperia 1 flawlessly.
1tb SanDisk A2 micro SD card works flawlessly. Using Xperia 1 9110 firmware 55.1.A.0.748.
