I have looked thru the noob guide and the General forum and no luck. I need to send my Bolt in for replacement they sent the new one already but need to send the old one back. Can someone point me the way to the thread please. It was rooted with the 3 step method
thanks alot
As long as you didn't use Revolutionary to root or install the hard patched hboot from Shadowmite's thread (you will know if you did) the directions for rooted users in this thread will get you back

Just FOLLOW DIRECTIONS EXACTLY and it should be easy as pie.

You can't switch back to stock if you used Revolutionary. Not yet until they develop a way to do it.

Except if you had read JCASE's thread, you'd know you're not supposed to go back to the MR1 RUU.

That is not referring to the MR1 build. It says 1.0xxxx. MR1 is 1.13.605.7. That is the pre-release build that was used for downgrading in the original root process. The problem was that build had an old hboot that wouldn't interrupt the flash before the security warning happens. Which was a serious issue when we only had 2 RUUs newer than that to recover with. Anything from the release firmware (1.12.605.6) and up should be perfectly fine.

This does work for revolutionay too to get s-on. I have done it twice. These developers are amazing. You need to know ADB to do it but it works.
I got the same site at: http://www.thunderboltforums.com/fo...ow-restore-stock-rooted-non-rooted-users.html

I know you can get back to s-on from Revolutionary. I was just saying as long as he didn't use Revolutionary the simple method in the thread I linked would work just fine.
Edit: I just realized you linked to the same instructions I did and you can NOT get back to s-on with that method if you used revolutionary. Revolutionary installs a hard patched hboot that prevents it from being overwritten by any hboot without issueing a specific fastboot oem command.

Read my edit in previous post.
You need to follow Scotty85's tutorial in post 22 of this thread to get s-on after Revolutionary Untill they release an s-on tool.

For VipeRUU to work, you must be S-off.

Try to downgrade using the instructions to get s-off, once yo get to the 3.15 version, download the 3.15 RUU, follow the instructions on unlimited.io, I've heard that you can use windows is just not supported by the devs you re on your own, it's real easy, just take off the "sudo./" part on each command and you hold be good to go, good luck!

Is this possible and if so, can you point me to the right direction?
Thanks
Depends on your hboot I guess. If you're on 1.22.651.1 and older, i guess you can use the method below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671577
Than there's this one, which isn't working at the moment but you can read and see if it helps you in any wa

I am sure someone more knowledgeable can chime in and help you.
Pretty sure htcdev is the only route unless facepalm bypasses it . I haven't checked out that method. HTC dev works so why would anyone spent countless hours trying to gain root when a perfectly fine route exists.

Because I'm concerned about relocking my bootloader, if I use that method, and having it say LOCKED instead of RELOCKED.

You will have to unlock and s-off in order for you to have the option of locking back to stock without the relock message.

But as @mjones73 said, just use rumrunner, it is way easier and works in Windows. Firewater is supposed to work as well (it is a newer version of rumrunner by the same devs).

@CyanogenMod 8 may be looking for the Windows version that has been deprecated long ago due to the fact it bricked many devices....rumrunner is what works best on windows for the rezound especially since you dont have to wire trick method it and risk touching the wrong pin and destroying the motherboard....for linux juopunutbear is whats best (safest wire trick version)

I got mine rooted and s-off. Do the firewater method. It took a bit of common sense to get it all going, but I finally did it. It's not letting me post the link to the video so just DM and I'll get it to you.
You also might wanna learn a bit on entering commands.
Good luck!:good:
