Hi, i have about 1 month trying to get work a LS990 that i bought in ebay to sim unlocked and use it outside the US, i have followed every possible guide in this forum and still cannot make it work.
I am using the file replacement method with the modified files, and it works, the sim card is recognized and if i go to the network info appears the carrier network info. I get full signal but when i try to make a call, it ends immediately and appears the message "call ended".
I have tried over and over again, setting the RAT mode to automatic and Network mode to automatic, tried with ZVA,ZV8 and ZV4, same result, tried with different sim cards of different carriers also.
The bands are compatible with the carriers where i live, since i have acknowledgement of other people with this model working ok, what i am missing here?
Thanks in advance.
Just flash one of the GSM roms like Killaprime's. I recommend V4.7 as V5 and V6 have major problems/Ui glitches. And 4.7 is the closest to stock LG software
Those file replace methods never work

Just flash it and pop in the sim card? I already tried the version 6.0 and it didn't work. Any other steps required to get it work?

Try V4.7, and yes just clean flash it and you're good to go

Ok, i just flash the rom, same result, i got signal but cannot make or receive calls, when a try make a call after 1 or 2 seconds it ends automatically, one thing i notice is that now when i try to change the network mode to any of the GSM bands, it changes successfully, with other stock or customized roms it always fail.
Let me know if i am wrong, i notice that the IMEI number seems to not be a "normal" IMEI. Can that be what the problem is?
I just fix it, indeed the problem was that rare IMEI, luckily i had a full backup before the very first rom flash including the EFS folder, everything is working ok now.

I have a quick question because I've run into a problem I can't seem to fix.
First, so everyone knows what I'm dealing with:
Phone: i717
Changes: Rooted (Shows super user access), CWM v5.5.0.4, Unlocked (Tested)
Rom: Stock AT&T Rom
Sim Card: Works in a T-mo branded Exhibit II 4G.
I flashed a radio (tried KID, 0331122 from the radio thread in the dev section, and reflashed the original AT&T radio).Even w/ the original radio installed, it cannot seem my T-Mo sim now.
Do I need to flash a new Rom or what? Wipe data to factory reset?
I would rather not change anything w/o asking since flashing radios seems to be a straight forward thing that most ppl have done w/o touching the rom.
Thanks ahead of time.
Mine worked with a rooted stock rom at first it didnt see the sim then i tried searching the network under wireless and networks it took a few minutes but then it came up.

don't forget if you are running an ICS based ROM you need an ICS based Radio/modem.
EDIT: i see you're running the original GB rom so you need the GB radio.
give it a few minutes to find a signal or go to settings/mobile networks/network operators. choose manual. then let it search a few minutes. then select t-mobile.
I find the Blaze 4G radio worked best for me, but depending on your area, your results may differ. try em all.
You guys are insanely fast.
I'm currently on the stock radio & I'm still getting the same message after letting the sim sit in the phone for 9 minutes (yes, I watched the clock, lol):
Insert SIM card to access network services

Where should I go from here?
Edit: Is the answer flashing another rom? Maybe something has become corrupt? I don't see how as I've read & re-read walk thrus for doing this to make sure.
I've done a little more reading. Flashing the beta ICS rom flashes to the old AT&T modem.
Would this be the best bet?
Edit: After looking through the "about" phone...
I'm on 4.0.3
Baseband: Unknown............. that's really bad.
Edit 2:
After reading, I needed to back up the EFS. No where is this stated anywhere, unfortunately. That contains IMEI and everything else.
Edit:
So, after reading MORE, the IMEI number is on a sticker behind the battery, along w/ the S/N.
Huh? Efs? I dont even know what that is nevermind backing it up. Goto clockworkmod and flash the radio.zip and reboot. Thats all there is to it.

If you look up EMEI number related to flashing the radio, there's a lot of hits.
XDA has a thread on it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352371
I'm quite shocked it's not mentioned everywhere as this happens to people now and again.
I have my IMEI number, i just don't know how to input it into the phone.
As for flashing the radio, I've flashed 2, then back to the original. To no avail.
Sorry never had anything like that. I would almost odin back to stock and start over. You dont need root for the sim to work on calls and edge with tmobile.

If you're baseband is unknown don't worry just flash a stock at&t modem and it should go back to normal. Your imei is under a different menu in about phone..the status one.
Also its no ones responsibility to tell you that modifying your phone may break it.

I did flash back to the stock AT&T baseband as stated in the original post.
If I go to About Phone, the Baseband Version is unknown.
If I go to Status, the following are listed as
Network: Unknown
Mobile Network: Unknown
Service State: Out of service
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
IMEI: Unknown
IMEI SV: Unknown
I've backed up the EFS that I have no just so it doesn't degrade further. I'll try to flash again and see, but I still think the EFS is borked.
I'll see what I can, but I think I'll the EFS is borked beyond flashing it to normal.
My point about the EFS back up is that most ppl here don't seem to know what it is. It shouldn't be that foreign of a topic since flashing a radio is obviously problematic for some. I've seen other posts concerning no IMEI after flashing radios on forums other than XDA. It's odd that it's not mentioned as a sticky everywhere.
Backing up EFS would solve a lot of head aches from unlocking / radio flashing woes. I'm hoping this info will save a few people a lot of time and money.
After more digging, I came across this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646326
Synopsis: Basically, he followed the same guide I did. The only difference is that I flashed the radio while using a stock AT&T rom. Once he flashed back to GB (saurom), he gained back his baseband / IMEI.
This is what I cannot figure out:
CWM will see and flash any radio file I push to my note. If I push a stock AT&T rom, it won't see it. If I put the rom in it's own folder, it seems the rom, but states there's no files.
Is CWM corrupted? Why would it only read firmware to flash radios, but not android roms? Should I just go back and install CWM?
I've searched all over & used google, but I can't find a thread discussing this.
Fixed.
This problem has nothing to do with any of the radios corrupting the EFS folder. Albeit, it's always a good idea to back it up.
Flashing back to AT&Ts stock rom (2.3.6 or 4.0.3) never fix the issue. You will always be stuck w/o a radio, at least from what I've seen. Even flashing back to the stock radio fails. I don't know if it changes the EFS, but AT&T's rom does not like it and shows no IMEI & a bogus SN .
I had to go back, flash to saurom and a compatible GB (or beta T-mobile) radio to get te work fine. ICS radios work fine on ICS.
Saurom and GB radios dont work in my i 717 trying to connect to wind. I got a CM 9 ICS build and ive tired a bunch of radios. they all failed. i keep getting no sim errors. I can see the operator but when i select it it times out and says it cannot connect to the network at this time. it also says interset sim. Im positive it is unlocked.
Modems(radios) or basebands should have nothing to do with whatever rom you are running. Whether they are GB, ICS, or JB modems, they should all work to a degree, at least for phone call ability. I have flashed many different radios trying to get the best function of my att note on t-mo. The best I got was using the Blaze modem. That got me 3g hspa.
The worst will be just giving you edge speed. My note is unlocked and has been on JB running blaze ICS modem working fine. Maybe you need to start over, evaluate what you have, and go from there. There are great threads on att over t-mobile. Good luck.
I picked my rom, and started flashing 5 or 6 radios, and found what one worked best on t-mo.
Presently, I have switched back to att- sort of- straight talk. I'm not thrilled with the speeds. No higher than 4 mbps DL, and 1-1.5 UL. Thinking about going back to t-mo and dealing with the slow UL speeds. I'm on an ICS rom with the ucle6 modem.
Also, flashing a rom does not change your modem. You have to physically reflash the modem you want. Some modems show up as unknown under the baseband. Blaze is one of them.
Another thought- sometimes a reboot will get your sim recognized by your phone.

This is yet another case of the "no sim" bug ....
Damn I wish we could find the answer to this issue, but none exist .....and for some users the return to complete stock even fails to recover service ..

Really what an incredible unlucky glitch.I got my note for only 360CDN good condition but missing the stylus, even still it was a good buy. I'm on Wind mobile, T-mobile here in Canada. I even gave it to somebody who's done a bunch and they ran into the no sim problem. I guess I'll be going back to my HTC HD2 and sell the note .

So just to confirm I have followed the process correctly over 20 times and no matter which cm9 cm10 based rom and any ics or gb based radio will allow connection or recognize the sim to the 1700 aws network. With a cm9 based rom I can see my network, but it will not allow connection like the phone is locked, even though i have unlocked and tested the phone on other networks.

Yes, I have the same 'No SIM' issue with a working WIND SIM. I've tried everything, multiple Radios, multiple ROMs. Very strange problem. I wish we had the tools that the SGSIII has for dumping and restoring the NV ram. Even stranger, I do have a the correct IMEI number in Phone, About. It has nothing to do with your unlock. If you've followed the steps and are still having no sim issue you may have to get a new 32k sim card from wind the older ones won't connect in a phone with lte

Had to replace the TMo SIM card with a newer one today. Solved the problem of "No SIM".
I know this is old
I have the same problem with "NO SIM." One day i flashed so many things to my phone and one time i turned it on i got ATT on the top right corner and everything was good. I made some phone calls and texts and even browsed the web. I restarted the phone to check if it was just a fluke and it was. Ever since then i cannot get it to read my phone, but i know for sure the hardware works.
I have tried every radio in this forum, must be at least 7 or 8, and none of them can get my SGNote i717 to work When i go Settings > wireless and networks > mobile networks i get a popup saying "insert SIM card to access network services" eventhough i already have a SIM from wind in there.
I am running OnlyOne rom 4.0.4, rooted.

If anyone can point me to or post a working, or prefered, faster radio to use for Wind Mobile, I would really appreciate it. I've spent countless hours on XDA.
I have copied the radios to the SD card and tried flashing each one with CWM, then trying them out, but none work. If I am doing it wrong, please show me how to do it right.
Cheers :good:
Wind uses T-Mobile bands. Go get the blaze modem in the T-Mobile thread discussion.
But if you get a sim card not recognized or a no sim card inserted error, its not the modem. Check your sim in any GSM phone to see it it is damaged or not provisioned.

Well, its a brand new phone, perfectly clean and i had it working before. at first when updated to onlyone rom, i tried many that didnt work until i found one that did. but i found the speeds were too slow, so today i decided to shop around for some others, but now that i flashed these ones, i cant get the original one working again.
are you sure its hardware and not software?

this happened to me and drove me crazy in the end from recovery i did all the wipe and installed the saurom rom then every thing worked agen i am new at this but i think my mastic was that i flashed ics modem over a gingerbread rom or vers versa
but after a wipe and a new rom the phone start to see the sim i wish that help because this drove me crazy good luck
Can someone post the steps to do this? I am with Mobilicity and lost network connection. Probably because of flashing roms that do not work with Mobilicity.

The solution to this problem is all those on the Tmobile/Wind/Mobilicity network need to flash one of these radios after they have flashed a rom of their choosing. I believe the radios that come with these roms are for the AT&T/Bell/Rogers/Telus networks

No, it actually "does" have to do with the modem sometimes. I flashed several roms and, when i got the error, it was only with a certain rom and, after going back to the other rom, the problem was gone. The SIM wasn't touched hence...it was not the SIM.

Flashing a rom does not flash a modem. So with all the rom changes you did, you never touched the modem.
Only a few update packages contain both a rom and a modem.

Yes and my packages "may" have been some of those packages. Stop assuming....believe it or not you don't see everything that goes on at the other end. I also flashed other modems as well, the three made for T-Mobile, along with those roms and just didn't add it into the conversation. The Padawan ROM actually "does" carry multiple modems.
What ever, dude. Stop getting so excited. Its just information.

It could be because of incompatible RIL and baseband. Did you happen to change these recently by any chance?
Don't flash any ril if you're on 4.2. Ril is only ok if you're on stock.
What you can try is to flash the stock ROM for your country /carrier. See if the problem persists .
And just a word of advice, always have a backup ready to go.

Flashed official firmware with Odin. But problem still exists. I noticed strange thing. One of my SIM cards working on it. But 2G network. Sometimes shifts to 3G but can't hold also signal strength is low. When i put other SIM it says Not registered on network (cant manually register even)
Did you definitely flash the firmware released for your carrier & region? Sounds to me like you may have flashed firmware intended for another carrier or region.
Try flashing a few modems. Look at which modems your carrier released for your region, start with those. Then, move onto o re her local carriers etc. If you still don't have any luck, go all our and flash whatever modem you can get your hands on (make sure it's compatible first obviously).
It may sound like a lot of work, but unfortunately there's no quick fix for something like this if flashing stock didn't work.
Oh wait. If you did actually flash a different stock rom, flash the correct one first. If you did get the right one first off, start flashing modems.

hey guys!
I have samsung galaxy s2 gt-I9100. Whenever I install a custom rom, everythings works fine but i am not able to use mobile network and i received "Error while searching for networks" when I go to settings>>Mobile networks>>network operators. The IMIE number is fine.
I have tried many roms including:
--cm-10.1.3-i9100
--cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-i9100
--pa_i9100-4.42-20140708
--pa_i9100-4.45-20140729
--Slim-i9100-4.4.4.build.9.0-OFFICIAL-8301
The last rom which worked fine was RootBox-JB-i9100-V4.0. All roms released after this rom have this issue.
I have searched for issue on google and tried various solutions but so far no success.
Please Help!
And can you guys suggest me any rom which is not based on CM?
Go to settings-->about phone and look for "Baseband version"
If it says "unknown" or similar you may need to reflash the modem before you flash the rom.
Or even worse you might need to do a reboot (it actually worked once).
Also do emergency calls work? If yes then it might be a problem with your sim card or you contract (or just bad luck).

The Baseband version is visible and a valid one. Also my sim works on stock rom or any other phone.
SInce I have no idea what the cause could be, here are some random things to try out, of which one might work:
-make sure you're not in airplane mode
-do a full complete wipe
-try a different sim (and see if it works)
-make sure the sim is not upside down
-fully shutdown the phone (e.g remove battery for a day [maybe not that long])
-clean contacts between sim and phone (how? no idea)
-try (even-) more roms (if there are any left)
-test a few kernels
-maybe look through the logcat (if it actaully outputs something worthwhile)
As you can see none of these "soloutions" are based on.....uhmm....anything(?). But at least....if none of them work, you know what not to do.

Perhaps you could flash back to stock rom then flash custom rom again, that way all modem files and network related files can be fixed/re-installed. By any chance have you tried changing modems? It might not help you but it's a suggestion.
Hey there!
Yesterday I was using my phone with CM12.1 installed, everything was fine, but suddenly the phone stopped connecting to the cellular network and displayed "Emergency Calls Only" or "No service". What shocks me the most is that it was working perfectly fine that morning. Sometimes it let's me scan networks, and sometimes it gives an error on searching. When it does find and I try to connect it simply says "Can't connect to network, try again later"
I already tried reflashing CM12.1 , CM12, and multiple basebands (12B, 24B and 35B).
I also tried flashing back to stock. Didn't do anything.
IMEI is still intact and I have no backups!
Please help!

By flashing back to stock do you mean flashing a stock ROM from TWRP or flashing a KDZ or TOT? The reason I ask is that with weird problems like this, just flashing a stock ROM from TWRP might not make any difference where flashing a KDZ or TOT might.

Like I said, flashing a KDZ or TOT would be the only real way to start trying to solve the problem so no.
Did you use the CSE option in LG Flash Tool 2014 (to wipe data and internal storage)? Try removing the MicroSD card and keeping it out (I know, sounds weird)? Try using your SIM card in another device and/or using a SIM in a working device in this one?
Do you not get a signal anywhere you go? If you've only tried in one place, it's possible there's just a local outage.
If you do all that and you still don't get a signal it sounds like your phone has a hardware problem.

I did use the CSE option, I've already tried booting without sd card, and the sim card works on my Xperia ZL phone. Also, I know it's not a local outage, I tried it in school as well (Pretty far from home). I also tried a differebt SIM card on the LG and got the same results.
So, do you think it's a hardware problem? It suddenly stopped working, it does make sense. Like from 6 AM to 7 PM yesterday it did work perfectly fine with 4G LTE and everything. And (without turning it off) suddenly stopped working at 7 or so...
