I have been looking up and down and around these forums and I still cant find any information on this. Can somebody tell me how to root the CDMA Virgin Mobile XT1526 Moto E? I am lost.
You need to unlock the bootloader first - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-moto-e-2015-t3045748
Then you can root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/root-moto-e-2015-root-t3046933

I'm selling my Sprint Note 3 that I had rooted before the lollipop upgrade. Since then I put a lollipop rom on it.
Two stupid noobie questions that I couldn't find answers to when I searched ..
1. Since I'm rooted am I also unlocked ... can he use an att Sim card and use it on att?
2. Do I need a specific rom that would make this possible ... or is there a way to test it to prove to him that it works?
Thanks for the answers.
Just FYI... There's a difference between unlocked carrier and unlocked boot loader.
You do not need a custom ROM to use another Sim card, but you need to unlock the carrier on the phone

Is there a way to tell if I did a carrier unlock? I don't really even remember what method I used to root it.
You unlock the boot loader to flash a custom rom?
To sim unlock you would have had to run SSU.app or GT.app to international unlock then odined a older radio mj4 or mi3. Then change the APNs to match the carrier's settings for internet and mms messages.
I called sprint and got the master unlock codes ... is there an easy way to unlock it now that I have those?
Hey I just purchased the Moto E xt1527 5.0.2 I am wondering if you can achieve unlock out of the box, as well as root? I read that the xt1526 were unable to be unlocked? My carrier is cricket if that helps. Thanks!
Xt1526 most definitely unlockable.... You can go to Motorola website and see if your phone is able to do so. In pretty sure it is. If you look elsewhere on forum you should see many things for xt1527

Unfortunately, cricket is now owned by AT&T. And they will not allow you to unlock the boot loader. In dealing with the same
I have had att and unlocked my Samsung galaxy 2 active as well as my HTC one m8 on att?
According to Motorola, they don't have an agreement with att to unlock the bootloader.

Have you tried https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a to see if you can unlock the bootloader? I was thinking about buying the cricket device, depending on if this works or not.
Hi
I recently bought h900 updated to MM, I dont use at&t sim and I dont live in US, so I was wondering if its possible to debrand h900 to any other version so I can install custom recovery and root my phone
Any help are appreciated
You can have the device SIM unlocked by AT&T, and that will give SOME options on some other carriers, but I don't know what options you will have internationally. On the h900 there is currently no Root available for MM and the bootloaders are locked. Unfortunately, I think your options are going to be pretty limited
thank you for your reply
The device is already sim unlocked it's used not a new one,
so there no way to debrand the device

Hello long time lurker here . Don't post often enough . Probably gonna break that trend
Current Status of my Phone :
Sprint HTC One M9(CDMA) : 1) Bootloader Re-Locked (S-ON) ; 2) Unrooted 3) Sim Unlocked ; 4)Running Official Sprint OTA Update
Note: I'm using a GSM sim after the Sim Unlock
Things I would really appreciate assistance with
1) Steps to unlock LTE Bands
2) Access VoLTE
3) Access WiFi Hotspot Tethering
Questions I really would like answers to :
1) If I have to root and unlock my bootloader to achieve the above steps will I be able to relock my phone and still have the LTE bands , VoLTE and WiFi Hotspot features stay?
Assuming I achieve the above unlocking of features.
2)If the unlocked features are lost post relocking my bootloader ( I intend to do this to receive the official Nougat 7.0 Update) , will the procedures to unlock LTE Bands , access to VoLTE and Hotspot and re rooting and unlocking my bootloader change?
I would really appreciate help with this and thanks in advance to anyone who invests their time in assisting me
I am looking to buy a moto e 2nd gen (2015) to use with a gsm carrier.
I also want to be able to try out all of the roms that are available on these forums.
I am looking on ebay, but I am not clear which models are gsm unlocked and have a unlockable bootloader.
Can someone enlighten me?
I found a bunch of at&t xt1527s, but I saw someone say that those are do not have unlockable bootloaders.
Can someone help me find one?
Thanks.
Hi! You can buy XT1524 or XT1526 US Cellular and you`ll have 4G on GSM and more important - ability to unlock bootloader / 1526 at&t- without 3g and 4g on GSM but with ability to unlock bootloader . XT1527 have 3G and 4G support on some GSM carriers but it`s not qualifying for bootloader unlocking. XT1528 /1529 are also not eligible for bootloader unlocking . I strongly recommend you to buy XT1524 or XT1526 US Cellular.
