Kingroot worked, but no SU updates OC1 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I used kingroot and it shows success. I verified root, but i cannot get any su to update. After a few days I found that I lost root. I am still on OC1 though. Any ideas? And is there no custom recovery available?
If it all comes down to it, can I get these by downgrading to kit kat? If so, how do I do that?
Thanks!

You cannot downgrade to Kitkat.
My suggestion: Look up Stang5Litere's ROM in the android development section. It is the only PREROOTED ROM that will work on OC1. It's stock, but debloated and deodexed with multiple mods.

I'm not too familiar with this phone, so forgive my ignorance, but can I odin that rom or how do i otherwise load it?

re-root with kingroot, verify and then locate the "replace kingroot with supersu v2.4 zip" install then remove remaining kingroot debris.

[Q] Rooting I545VRUEMJ7 (Verizon 4.3)

Hey guys!
I recently got my S4, and I updated to the 4.3 update, as I didn't know that I wanted to root my phone then. I have been looking all over, and I can't find a method that works for rooting my phone. I have the Verizon version of it. I have 2 questions.
1. Has someone figured out how to root this particular version of software? I have already tried Kingo, and it didn't work. Knox blocked it.
2. If not, is there a way that I can revert my phone back to 4.2.2 Android, so that I can root from there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-Whoonu
1. Yes, some great people on this forum have figured out how to root the 4.3 MJ7 update. You need to root with VROOT 1.7.2. Then you need to run the root_de_la_vega script to get rid of the Chinise superuser and install SuperSU instead.
Follow these instructions after VROOT - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47331487&postcount=169
Or follow these instructions if you don't know how to use VROOT - Mod Edit: Links to vRoot are currently not allowed on XDA. There are concerns as to the personal information such as IEMI numbers and Serial numbers it collects during he root process which is not necessary.
So, if your willing to try that, all you can do on this 4.3 at the current time is to root and then debloat the device. No custom recoveries have been developed (yet *holding breath).
2. From what I've read, once you update to 4.3 MJ7, your stuck with it, no downgrading.
Good luck and have fun!

The last part of this is true, you can not install a custom recovery, so no ROMs.
The first part is not entirely true, you can do more than debloat. You can run apps requiring root, debloat or freeze apps using TB, remove ads, edit system files, etc.
I recall hearing that Hashcode was working on Safestrap for 4.3, so ROMs may be coming.
Thank you for explaining and clearing up my post a bit! I'm still quite new to all this stuff myself. Much appreciated!

Alright. Here's the situation. I have successfully rooted, but I can't update supersu. I can't download the binary SU for what ever reason. Does anyone know how to fix this? It seems like I can't give root access to apps, but I know that it is rooted. Any help is appreciated!

Yep, I was in the same boat after vroot. After doing some research and reading threads on here I found that I had to run the root de la vega script as well. Bascially you need the android terminal emulator and titanium backup (paid verstion too, I believe to be able to freeze apps, specifically the "Superuser" after you've gained root access in terminal emulator) to succeed. Follow the instructions that I posted above (the ones from xda-develepors.com), and you will be able to rid your device of the Chinese "Superuser" program and have SuperSU installed instead, and it will be allowed to update its binaries.

I will try re-rooting. I followed all of the instructions, but I think I became unroofed when my phone reset. I'll let you guys know how that goes.
Sweet! Re-rooting worked. Supersu is updated and working well. Thank you to all who helped me! :good:

[Q] Stock 4.3 Kingo rooted to 4.4.2 problems

I was stock rooted with Kingo and marked official with Wanam Xposed so I unrooted with Kingo and ran Xposed Disabler. So far I have downloaded the official update three times, it goes through the motions of rebooting and installing, but at the end it says it failed.
How can I get this installed? Will Odin'ing Freeza's tar fix it? If not, do I need to install an official MJ4 tar first? Will either of these tars wipe my data? Any other suggestions? I'd like to end up stock rooted on KitKat without tripping Knox if possible.

I was getting a fail at 27% I flashed the stock Tar for Kitkat from Freeza and it worked great all data in tacked. I was not rooted but I am guessing you will loose root.

[Q] [HELP] Rooting SCH-I545 with 5.0.1 USING ODIN

My phone would not show that an OTA update was available for the Lollipop 5.0.1 update so I had to use Odin for the update.
-I did a full unroot.
-Using Odin I flashed the OC1 Neutered full odin rar file
- The update was successful and I now have 5.0.1.
My questions begin here. How can I regain root access using Odin now that I have the update.
Can I flash the NC5 kernel, use towelroot, SU, without tripping Knox?
From what I have researched so far I believe i would have to go back to KitKat to get root access. I am just trying to confirm.
Any and all help is appreciated. I have a good bit of experience I am just new to the forums. I would love to have Root access with this new OS.

Root Failing - Unusual Circumstances

Hello all!
I had root on Android 4.4.2 with VRUFNK4 build... It was all working fine but I wanted to get back to the NK1 kernel to see if that would fix some battery usage issues I was running into.
The root apps/modules I'm using are:
nomaptips
XPrivacy
Wanam Xposed (and Xposed framework)
Greenify
So I popped open Odin 3.09+, flashed the NK1 kernel and lost root. SO I flashed the NC1 kernel. Towelroot says it's successful, root checker is taking a bit of time to validate though. I think TR didn't actually work. So I flashed the NK1 kernel and my wanam mods are still working (I'm not going to try to change them).
What could I be doing wrong?
Does Root Checker PURELY verify when SU is properly updated...?
Thanks!

ROOT ON OC1 WITH WONDERSHARE! Kingroot apk and desktop NOT working

heres the link http://www.wondershare.com/mobile-phone/how-to-root-android.html
JUST now rooted stock oc1 after flashing xposed uninstall through flashfire it got stuck on bootloop. I Odin flash to stock nonroot oc1 and used this to regain root. Currently installing flashfire to install deodexed oc1 and reinstall xposed will update. PC NEEDED to root. But it is one click. This also installs supersu. Make sure you have developer enabled and click ENABLE USB DEBUG. I wish all of you with no luck using kingroot... GOOD LUCK!
*******not responsible for anything that might happen this worked FOR ME it DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL FOR YOU Things like this can cause brick. Rooted schi545 on stock bloated clean oc1 lollipop using this*************
*****edit*** mods im new to the site but i posted this here because of a number of threads about failed kingroot on oc1 please move accordingly as you see fit thanks
UPDATE:
Flashfire successfully updated the stock wondershare rooted oc1 with rooted deodexed oc1 stock.
I Disabled supersu
Launched android pay with NO XPOSED FRAMEWORK INSTALLED
application successfully verified and added my cards
Then Used flashfire to flash xposed xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430-arter97-V3.zip (the frame work not installer) - listed in the link below. Phone booted fine with ANDROID IS UPGRADING at startup with 238 apps. Then installed the v3 alpha 2 installer. Says framework not active but it is.
i dont take any credit for xposed on oc1 credit due to respective owners just following direction and want to condense everything ive been doing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3113463
This gets xposed working reliably on oc1 along with android pay (ive yet to pay so will have to update upon successful transaction but my cards are added)
I WOULD HIIIIIIIIIIIIGHLY SUGGEST IF YOU WANT ANDROID PAY TO WORK ON YOUR XPOSED ROOTED OC1 DO NOT FLASH THE XPOSED UNINSTALLER it gave me a boot loop at vzw splash screen. Instead i suggest you REFLASH PREROOTED DEODEXED oc1 using flashfire to remove the frame work since flashfire performs a full wipe, then disable supersu once booted go through the android pay set up and once you have all the cards you want added reenable supersu and reinstall xposed framework via flashfire and restore your data. This is what i did... the second time which is why im advising against using the xposed uninstall zip.
So I finally got around to trying to purchase with android pay on my stock deodexed somewhat debloated and rooted xposed oc1. The phone and terminal act as if my nfc isn't even turned on nothing happens
